InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Amidst the Moonlight ❯ Chapter 3: It was you?!! ( Chapter 3 )
Chapter 3
Kikyou, Sango, and Miroku looked to Kagome in shock; Sesshomaru held his blank expression. Inuyasha on the other hand became enraged. He released his hold on Kikyou and moved in on Kagome as Kikyou sat on the ground coughing. Sango ran to her aid and held her and looked up to Kagome. “No...Don’t...do...huh...this,” Kikyou gasped. Kagome ignored her and held her ground as Inuyasha stopped and stood in front of her. Before she could react, Inuyasha grabbed a hand full of her and snarled at her.
“You’re the one who murdered my pup?!!” he growled. Kagome’s eyes widened as his eyes began to turn a blood red and he bared his fangs at her. “I-I...” she stuttered. The next thing she knew she was sprawled on the ground with Inuyasha on top of her with his hand around her throat squeezing. She gagged and placed her hand over his large one as she tried to pry his hand off. “No!! Inuyasha stop!!” Kikyou screamed. Sango hopped up and ran to him trying to pull him from Kagome, but he wouldn’t budge. “Inuyasha stop!!!” she cried.
Kagome gasped and she could feel her life starting to lessen as he continued to squeeze her throat, but then the next thing she knew, he was jerked off of her and held back, but Miroku and Sesshomaru. “Inuyasha calm down,” Sesshomaru warned. Inuyasha inhaled and exhaled deeply as he tried to control his breathing and the red left from his eyes. Kagome laid on her side gasping for air and clutching the grass tightly in her hands as she forced air into her burning lungs. “Come on Kagome lets get you back to your room,” Sango said as she and Kikyou lifted her from the ground. As they walked past Sesshomaru and Miroku still restraining the angered hanyou he growled at her. “I promise you bitch. The moment you say I do is the beginning of your hell.”
Kagome’s sighed softly and looked away from him as she continued breathing deeply. Once they arrived to her room, Kagome laid across her bed and buried her face into her pillow. Kikyou then released her anger on her foolish sister. “Kagome are you insane!!?! Why did you do that?! Do you know what he will do to you when he gets you away from here?!!” Kagome looked up at her sister, with blank eyes. “Did you see the way he looked at you Kikyou? He looked like he was going to tear you to shreds! I couldn’t...allow...that!” she said breathlessly.
Kikyou went to say more, but Sango held up her hand and walked over towards Kagome. “Kagome, I don’t care how much you scream and cry about it I’m going to tell Inuyasha the truth. It’s his and Kikyou’s problem, not yours. I won’t let you take the blame for such a terrible crime Kagome; I just can’t.” Tears filled Kagome’s eyes and she no longer objected to her friend, but she doubted Inuyasha would believe her. He was waiting for a reason to put harm to her and now he had it. There was no going back now.
Sango and Kikyou left Kagome’s room a short time later to confront the enraged hanyou. When approached the guest chambers in which he stayed, Sango knocked harshly. Miroku was the one to answer the door and surprised to see the two. “What can I help you with ladies?” he asked. “We wish to speak to Inuyasha on the matter dealing with the death of his child,” Sango said aggressively causing Miroku’s eyes to widen. “I’m sorry ladies but I can’t let—,” “We weren’t asking, we were telling you we’re hear to speak with him.” With that Sango pushed past Miroku and into Inuyasha’s chambers. The hanyou was seated on his canopy bed with his face buried in his hands seemingly upset. “What do you want?” he growled. Sango sighed. “We came to tell you that Kagome is not responsible for the death of you pup Inuyasha,” Sango began. “I am. Inuyasha its my fault. When I found out you were betrothed to Kagome, I didn’t want to hurt my families honor by having a bastard in the family. Please forgive me.” Inuyasha remained in the same position with his face buried in his hands refusing to look at them.
When he did look up though, the girls took a step back as they weren’t greeted with the beautiful amber eyes, but a pair of bloodshot red ones laced in anger. “Inuyasha, control yourself,” Miroku said stepping in front of the girls. Inuyasha bowed his head and shook it back and forth a few times, and when he looked back up at them, the red was gone and back to their normal amber color. “Why would you do this Kikyou? Hadn’t I given you everything? And why did you allow me to believe Kagome did this? I could have killed her,” he growled angrily. Kikyou looked away from him in shame. “It wasn’t supposed to happen like this Inuyasha, but it has. It is your destiny to be with Kagome and nothing can change that. I just hope that you will forgive her for lying to you, she did it with the best intentions.” Inuyasha shook his head and smirked evilly. “No. The bitch will have to learn her place so she will be punished.”
Sango intercepted then. “You can’t be serious?! Kagome did this to save her sister! Have you no heart?!” Sango bellowed. Inuyasha looked at her coldly. “No I have no heart. It was destroyed when Kikyou murdered my pup.” Kikyou looked away from him defeat and sighed. “You’re so stubborn. I will inform Kagome then,” she mumbled then turned to leave. Sango gave Inuyasha another angry glare before she too followed Kikyou out of the room.
Miroku walked over to his friend and let out a long sigh. “Inuyasha. I don’t think you should punish the girl. As Sango said she did it with the best intentions.” Inuyasha looked up at his long time friend and sighed irritably. “She has to be punished Miroku to show her that this is not a game. I will not have my mate lying to me and doing things that are not to my liking!” Miroku looked away from his friend then headed for the door so that he could rest in his own chambers; he stopped and turned to Inuyasha before left. “I at least ask you not to make her punishment too severe.” Inuyasha watched as his friend walked out of his chambers and closed the door behind him. He then frowned and laid on his pillow closing his eyes to sleep.

The day finally came for Inuyasha and Kagome’s wedding day. The castle was filled with servants, maids, and cooks bustling about getting everything prepared. Kagome stood in her bedroom standing atop a standing stool as many servants fixed at her wedding kimono. A blank expression clouded her face as the servants readjusted the front of her dress and smoothed all the wrinkles from it. Sango was feeling just like Kagome as she watched her friend being fitted into the wedding dress. It was a beautiful silver kimono the hugged her elegant curves and flowed all the way to the floor and became more loose fitting at mid thigh and had a split going up the right side that stopped just a little above mid thigh. It was sleeveless and came all the way up stopping at her neck. Around her neck she wore a silver chain that held a crystal tear drop and she had matching earrings linked in her ears. Her make up had been done before the dress had been placed on and was soft with a dab of pink lipstick on her lips and shimmering silver eyeshadow placed on her lids. Sango had done her hair with half up in an elegant bun and had the rest hanging freely down her neck and Kikyou had given Kagome some of her most expensive and rare jasmine perfume making her all the more perfect.
Everyone looked up as Lady Higurashi entered the room wearing a beautiful white gown and atop her head she wore a silver tiara crystalized in diamonds. “Hello honey. You look beautiful,” she complimented. Kagome smiled slightly and stepped off the stool with the help of her servants. “Thank you mother,” she said embracing her slightly. Lady Higurashi returned the favor before looking over at Sango. “You look wonderful as well Sango,” she said hugging Sango. “Thank you Lady Higurashi. You look very beautiful.” Lady Higurashi nodded her thanks then turned back to her daughter. “I have something I want to give you Kagome. Ginnya, fetch the case from the hall.” “Yes ma’am,” the servant said bowing and hurriedly walked into the hallway returning with a large case. Once she placed it on the bed, Lady Higurashi walked over and opened the case and pulled out its contents. Sango and Kagome gasped. “Mother,” she whispered. “Is that what I think it is?” Sango asked.
Lady Higurashi chuckled. “Yes it is. It’s the Shikon no Tama. It has been handed down in our family for 5 generations and now it is your turn to keep watch over it Kagome,” she said dropping the small jewel into Kagome’s hand. “Mother. I don’t think I should take this,” she mumbled sadly and looked into her mothers eyes. “Nonsense. The jewel has been purified so nothing evil can ever use it. Here,”Lady Higurashi said taking off her tiara. “This crown was made especially for the jewel. Just place it here,” she said taking the jewel from Kagome and inserting it in an opening especially designed for it. Everyone gasped except for Lady Higurashi as the jewel glowed brightly and his the light dissipated an ivory pearl was in the place the jewel should have been. “What happened to jewel?” Sango asked. “That is the jewel. The magic of this crown protects the jewel by making it look like a normal pearl. But there is something I must warn you of Kagome. When I said that no evil could use it I meant demons, but if a half demon or human wore to get a hold of it then the jewel could easily be tainted by them and become evil itself. If you never remove the jewel from the crown all will be well.” Kagome nodded and looked down at the crown her mother placed in her hands.

It was time for the ceremony. Hundred of people crowded around the west garden waiting for the ceremony to begin and Inuyasha stood impatiently waiting for it all to be over with. He looked over his grooms men who were Sesshomaru, Miroku, and Kouga king of the Eastern Lands wolf tribe. Inuyasha didn’t like him very much, but Sesshomaru respected him greatly; that was the only reason he was in the wedding. Inuyasha had decided that silver should be worn during the ceremony so he and his grooms men wore silver hakama’s ( AN: just imagine them all wearing something like Inuyasha’s fire rat suit except silver.) And Inuyasha had on concealment spell for his ears so he now had ears like Sesshomaru’s and he and Sesshomaru’s hair had been braided in one big braid so that the wind wouldn’t blow their hair everywhere. ‘I would’ve just preferred to take the wench and head back to the Western Lands without all this shit, but nooo!!! Sesshomaru said we had to abide by their traditions. Traditions my ass!’
Kagome stood behind the glass doors that led to the West garden and she was starting to hyperventilate. Sango was fanning her while Rin rubbed her hand comfortingly. “I...can’t....do...this.” “It’s going to be alright Kagome just breathe. Take a deep breath,” Sango instructed. Kagome did as she said. “Now let it out.” Kagome released her breath in a loud whoosh of air and sighed. She felt much better. “Alright. I guess I’m ready then, but this tiara is getting on my nerves. It keeps slipping down,” she grumbled. “Here let me fix it for you,” Sango volunteered as she readjusted Kagome’s hair so that the tiara sat in her hair without moving. “Thanks Sango. I’m so glad I’ll have you and Rin to help me through this.” “You know we will Kagome. What are sister-in-laws for?” Rin giggled. Kagome smiled genuinely at her, but they abruptly interrupted by Lord Higurashi approaching them. “Hello honey,” he said kissing her forehead. “Hey daddy. I guess now or never huh?” she said smiling. “Yes, now let us get in order so we can begin.” They were about to begin when Kikyou rushed up dressed in her brides maid dress and stood in front of Sango. “You better be here.” Kikyou looked over at her and frowned at Sango but turned around holding her bouquet of white lilies as the music began.
The glass doors opened as two little servant girls named Jankia and Lolean came in as the flower girls and began dropping flowers on to the ground leaving white rose petals on the long white carpet. Next came a fox kitsune named Shippo was to be the ring barer, then it was the bridesmaids turn. Kikyou was first and she walked down the carpet followed by Sango, and then finally Rin who all looked beautiful in their silver kimono’s similar, but not as fancy as Kagome’s . The brides maids took their opposite sides of the grooms and turned waiting for the bride to come.
“You ready?” Lord Higurashi asked. “As ready as I’ll ever be,” Kagome said with a forced smile. Then they moved towards the entrance and began making their way down the carpet.
Inuyasha hadn’t been paying very much attention because he was glaring hatefully at Kikyou, but as gasps filled the room, his attention turned from her and to the woman walking towards. It took all he had not to let his mouth drop as the beautiful goddess descended down the carpet accompanied by her father. His eyes had widened and he suddenly felt his mouth get dry and it all of a sudden became hot outside. Beside him he heard Miroku whistle and gave him a quick glare before turning back to the woman approaching him. ‘Beautiful,’ he thought to himself.
Lord Higurashi stopped and removed Kagome’s hand from his arm and kissed the back before extending her hand to Inuyasha. Inuyasha gently took it and helped Kagome up the two steps to stand beside him. The priest who was to wed them stepped forward and began the ceremony. Inuyasha and Kagome both toned him out as they began having thoughts about each other. ‘He looks very handsome in his silver attire, but its too bad he’s such a jerk,’ Kagome thought harshly to herself. ‘She’s so beautiful. I would hate for to disobey me and get that pretty face scarred.’ “You look very beautiful,” he whispered before he could stop himself.
Kagome looked up at him in shock before an unwanted blush spread across her face. “Thank you my lord,” she whispered back. After the priest did the ceremony, it was time for them to drink from the cup of life. The priest said a prayer then instructed to give the other from the cup Inuyasha going first. Inuyasha took the cup and placed it to Kagome’s lips. She took a gulp from the cup then took it from him and placed it to his lips allowing him to drink from the cup as well. The priest then had everyone bow their heads for a prayer before it was time to kiss the bride.
Inuyasha and Kagome stared into each others eyes for a few moments before Inuyasha placed a hand gently on the side of Kagome’s face and slowly and gently brought his lips to hers. Kagome was shocked by the gentleness of the kiss, but then placed her hand lightly against his chest and closed her eyes. When they pulled away everyone clapped and cheered as Kagome smiled at Inuyasha and he smirked back.
At the reception in the large dining hall, Kagome and Inuyasha sat at the head of the table quietly as everyone came up
to them to give their praise and greatest wished. Inuyasha kept a blank expression and nodded at them while Kagome smiled and gave her thanks even though she was hurting on the inside. ‘I wonder what punishments has in store for me when we go to the Western Lands.’ ‘This is such a waste of fucking time! Uh I’d rather be at my own castle with my mate right now than here with all these strangers.’
As the night grew on the tables had been removed from the floors for dance space and it was now time for the bride and groom to dance. Inuyasha stood up from his chair and held out his hand to Kagome who graciously took it and allowed him to guide her towards the dance floor. They stood alone in the middle and prepared the dance with Kagome placing one of her hands on Inuyasha’s shoulder and the other into his hand. Inuyasha held gently onto her hand and placed his free hand on her hip then they began to glide along with the music. “You know you will still be punished for lying to me right?” he asked. Kagome looked down at his chest and nodded. “As long as you obey me Kagome everything can go well. But if you decide you want to disobey me then there will be consequences. So what’s it gonna be?” he asked so that only she could hear. “I’d rather die than do your sick disgusting bidding.”
“So be it,” he said taking her down in a slightly rough dip. Kagome grunted as he lifted her up and pressed her body to his. She then glared up at him.
