Chapter 1: Captivity

A low deep chuckle rumbled through the forest around Inuyasha, who lay helplessly wounded on the forest floor. He tried to growl lowly and threateningly at the figure, but all that resulted was a choking cough, and more of that horrible red. The thing began moving slowly closer to Inuyasha, and he could hear the slow scraping and cracking at it made its way through the twigs and leaves. As the man came closer, Inuyasha began to focus on his features. A content smile was slid across the man's face as he knelt slowly beside Inuyasha.

“Inuyasha,” the man spat, his smile growing bigger and more flooded with hate.

Inuyasha looked confused at the man before him. The name Inuyasha seemed important in his memories, but he could not place where he had heard it before.

“Isn't it a shame Inuyasha? I had hoped to be able to kill you while you still stood on your feet!” his words chilled the air around him as he spoke, and they echoed off the nearby trees, making him sound much larger than he was. Inuyasha knew this man in his memories, but he could not recall a name. However, something deep and hateful brooded inside him about this man. He knew there was something evil about him.

“Why do you not retort as you usually do Inuyasha? I had hoped your spirit would not be already broken…” that evil grin was taunting Inuyasha.

Inuyasha raised his fist and struck out at the man, but the man easily dodged the weak attempt. This sudden action caused Inuyasha to become light headed, and he passed out from loss of blood.

---------------------------------------------------

Inuyasha awoke once more, and quickly sniffing, he knew he was no longer in the forest as before. The place he was at now was damp, and stuffy, and it reeked of stale dust. He was also no longer laying; he was now on his knees, and around his wrists he felt the bite of cold steel against his flesh. Again he struggled to open his one good eye.

The room he was in was dark and small. Through his blurred vision he could make out that the walls around him were made of stone. Straining to see the far wall, he noticed that here was a change in the wall's texture; A door perhaps.

Then, outside of Inuyasha's control, a single tear slid down his face. He did not know why he had been brought here, or why it filled him with such sadness, but nevertheless he could not help but feel a building frustration.

He coughed up some more blood, and that's when he noticed that the bleeding on his stomach had stopped. But he knew though the outside blood was gone, the hemorrhage inside him was flourishing. He closed his blood red eye, and sighed deep.

Then there it was again. That girl. That beautiful girl. She was now running slowly away from him, her head turned back towards him, eyes bright, a smile plastered on her face, waving at him. She was slowly fading away in the distance. Inuyasha demanded to know who this girl was. He knew that she was the most important thing to him, but he couldn't remember why. A great sadness filled him as she faded slowly from view.

He snapped back into consciousness, forcing his eye open once more. He turned his head, to his great pain, and looked at what held his arms. They were shackles, but they appeared to be old and brittle from age and wear. He pulled at them tenuously. They still held strong.

He slowly eased one leg so that his foot was now resting against the floor. He then shifted the other leg so he sat crouched in the middle of the room. He shifted his weight to the left, and jerked his right had forcefully against the metal bond. To his delight the chain snapped much easier than he has expected.

He was begging to shift his weight to the right when a loud noise by the door caught his attention.

The door swung open and in stepped the horrible, horrible man.

“Inuyasha,” his voice burned Inuyasha as it escaped his throat, “Trying to leave the party early I see? You should have known that escape would not have been that easy.”

Inuyasha glared angrily at this man. He knew this man was bad, and he didn't trust him at all though he couldn't remember why.

“Ah, that familiar scowl. I was wondering when I would see it again Inuyasha, but still you remain silent. What's the matter dog? Cat got your tongue?” the man laughed horribly at his own words.

Inside Inuyasha a great rage was building. His blood was beginning to pump louder in his ear, and his vision was clearing. This man needed to die.

The man's laughter stopped suddenly when he noticed marking appearing across Inuyasha's face. “What is this Inuyasha?”

Inuyasha's eyes flashed to red, and burned with malice and blood lust. He snapped the shackles on his left arm without even a hesitation. He growled low and deep in his throat. He uttered one single word.

“Die…”

Inuyasha lunged with all his strength towards this man. He wanted to feel his blood dripping over his claws. He pulled his arm back, in preparation to strike. His claws were poised as he threw his arm forward. His claws collided with something that wasn't flesh. A previously invisible barrier stood between his claws and this man, and Inuyasha was flung backwards to the hard ground.

As the demon blood within him subsided, the man laughed cockily.

As Inuyasha drifted into unconsciousness once again, he heard the man's voice once again.

“You won't be leaving anytime soon Inuyasha. I am not nearly done with you.”
