The group went to Kaede who told them the same story that Jaken had told Sesshoumaru.
"This is ridiculous! Now we have to go find some witch!", yelled Inuyasha.
"Yes.", said Miroku. "And even then, there is no garantee that Abiona will be able to return home."
"By the way, where did she get off to?", asked Sango.
Inuyasha was walking out the door. "Hey, where are you going?", asked Miroku.
"I'm going to find Kagome.", he huffed and walked on.
* AT THE RIVER *
Abiona dipped her head into the water, then came back up. She sighed with relief and stood up. The water streamed over her limbs like a lover's caress. Inuyasha, being the dumb dog that he is, was watching her from the cliff where he first spied on Kagome. Miroku jumped up behind him. "I though you were looking for Kagome.", he said.
"I figured I would find her if I found Abiona first.", Inuyasha replied.
"Right..." Miroku said sarcastically. "Isn't this exactly what Kagome told you NOT to do?"
"As if you're not going to hit on her again.", he said.
"Maybe, but I have no self-control.", he replied.
Abiona turned around, and her scars became visible in the full moonlight. The boys could barely hold in their exclamations. Stretching, the scars flex and reveal none of their bearers secrets.
* NARAKU'S HIDEOUT *
Sesshomaru was coming closer and closer to his worst enemy, Naraku. Gliding through the woods like a ghost, he came upon the insolent hanyou. Two titans faced each other. One cloaked in shadow, the other bathed in moonlight. One burning, the other frozen against the world, waiting for the fire to come. Without warning, the two youkai became blurs as they struck. Sesshomaru slid his hand through Naraku's arm, tensed certain muscles, and yanked, taking a shoulder with it. Tentecles speared a thigh, blood sprayed everywhere. A bone fragment whislted through a tree trunk as the tentecles were destroyed with a massive blow. Howling in pain, Naraku threw back his head and showered his suffering upon the world. This proved to be enough, Sesshomaru lunged. Teeth met bone and crushed it, as his fangs slid through the worthless hanyou's throat, while his hand ripped off what a man loves most. Then, as a final attempt to take Naraku's life, Sesshomaru unleashed the power of his poisonous claws.
* BACK AT THE RIVER *
"Where the hell did she get all of those scars?", asked Inuyasha.
"How should I know?", asked Miroku.
"I see you talking to her all the time."
"That's doesn't mean that I know about every bruise or scar that covers her body... Although I'd like to."
"Would you stop."
"Stop what?"
"This could be serious. Maybe something bad happened to her."
"Why are you suddenly so worried about her? A minute ago you were angry at her."
Without warning, a bull throated roar cut through the air as a goat demon charged Abiona. Inuyasha lunged forward and attacked the goat demon, while Miroku ran to Abiona. The goat leaped backwards, but wasn't swift enough to avoid Inuyasha's claws. A grunt of pain brought the combatants' attention to the river where Abiona was holding her side. From the cliff, a familiar voice shouted, "Aku Ryo Tai San!" The goat demon shrieked and died.
Miroku pulled the naked Abiona out of the river, pulled off his robe and wrapped her in it.
Miroku hurried down the path, carefully. Kagome drew level with him.
"How is she?" Kagome asked quietly.
"It's just a scratch.", said Abiona. "I can't even feel anything."
"You can't feel anything because you're in shock!", yelled Kagome.
Nothing more was said. As they entered the village, Kagome shouted for someone to tell Kaede. When they reached the hut, they were told that Kaede was taking care of a difficult birth in the village over.
Kagome ran into the hut and got down pots of herbs. "Miroku! Head down to the well and get me some water. Shippo, go get me some more wood. Sango, go get some bandages."
As the others ran off to complete their tasks, she ripped a strip from her skirt and poured the rest of the morning's tea onto it. Using the strip to wash Abiona's wound, she got a good look at it.
'Water sprite. Female in heat that didn't appreciate another female in her water distracting her males.'
"What do I do?", asked Inuyasha.
"Make sure Kaede gets here as soon as possible." said Kagome.
* NARAKU'S HIDEOUT *
A purple orb was all that was left of Naraku's body as it faded away. The grass was burnt and Naraku's stench was leaving. Sesshomaru had defeated his enemy. He turned and walked, then stopped. He turned and saw the orb had followed him. He didn't think much of it. As he turned away the orb jumped at him. He readied his claws and stroke at the orb. But the orb absorbed into his body.
* A FEW DAYS PASS *
Kagome and Sango were sitting on the porch one morning when Shippou walked outside. He greeted them, grabbed a bucket and began his journey to the fresh spring, but Kagome stopped him.
"Where's Miroku?", she asked.
"Oh, he's with Abiona.", said Shippou.
"Alone?", asked Sango.
"Yes."
"You left him alone with her?", yelled Kagome.
"He's actually been quite the gentlman lately. So, I figured it was safe."
* IN THE ROOM *
Abiona opened her eyes. She saw Miroku sitting, with his eyes closed, on the floor next to her. She quickly sat up.
"Ow!", she grabbed her side.
"Oh, you're awake...", he said. "I'll get one of the girls."
"No," She said. "Stay."
"I really shouldn't, you know... I can't be trusted."
Abiona laughed. He picked up Kagome's first aid bag. He took out some scissors and cut Abiona's bandages and they fell to the floor. He took out fresh ones and brought them to her chest.
"This isn't bothering you is it?", he asked.
"Why would it?", she replied.
He continued wrapping her in badnages and only wished that he could touch... her in a different way than he was already doing... He finished and made sure that they would not come undone. As he was looking at the used bandages, he kept looking at the star on Abiona's right arm. 'Is it a burn?', he thought. When he reached for the scissors, his hand grazed her thigh. Abiona placed her hand on top of his. He looked at her as she leaned in and gently placed her lips on his. Befoer it could go any further, they heard Shippou, Sango and Kagome talking. They parted and quickly moved away from each other as Kagome opened the door.
