Chapter 3: A Brave Kitsune and a Strange Dream

Okay, There really isn't anything to say, so I'll just give you the chapter.

Disclaimer: Don't own Inu, if I did, I wouldn't be writing this now would I? I'd be roling around in my money, not going to school, and playing video games non stop.

Kagome turned to run, but he wasn't going to let this happen twice. He jumped in front of her, and when she tried to go around, he grabbed her shoulders. “Let me go…”

“No…I have a feeling you only heard me yelling after Kikyo…” Inuyasha was keeping a struggling Kagome in his grip.

“That's all I needed to hear, you always run off, always…” She crumpled to her feet, but Inuyasha pulled her back up and grabbed her chin, forcing her to look him in the eyes.

“Kagome, I was yelling after Kikyo in anger. She told me something happened and that it might effect you, but she wouldn't tell me, so I got mad.” Kagome's cries settled down a little, but she still wouldn't voluntarily look him in the eye.

“What exactly did she want?” Kagome whimpered.

“She wanted to know if you had been acting differently.” Kagome looked him in the eyes.

“What did you say?” Inuyasha looked into Kagome's eyes and tried to find an answer.

“I said, that in the battle with the bull youkai, your power seemed to be increased, and that you were pretty mad afterwards. So, what was that power increase.?” Inuyasha asked.

Kagome looked at Inuyasha and started to remember what was going on. “I'm sorry Inuyasha, but until I am completely sure myself, I can't make any predictions.”

Inuyasha nodded and turned to go back to the campsite with Kagome following him. When they arrived at the campsite, Sango and Miroku were talking, seemingly no longer fighting, and Shippo still hadn't returned from hunting. When Inuyasha and Kagome came into sight, Sango began to blush, and Miroku gave them a perverted smirk.

“And what were you two doing?” That earned him a bump on the head from both Inuyasha and Sango, which Kagome couldn't help but smile at. Kagome lost the smile and looked around.

“Where's Shippo?” Inuyasha looked over at her, and then sniffed the air. He jumped up from his spot and was getting ready to run, when he felt Kagome get on his back. “He's in danger, isn't he?” Inuyasha nodded and took off running. All they could see was the blurry visions of the trees passing them by. He ran silently and hastily, not hesitating a second to rush to Shippo's aid. They saw a clearing in the distance, and if possible, Inuyasha ran even faster. When they heard Shippo's yelp, they got to the clearing. A large snake youkai was biting into Shippo's side and aiming for the three dead rabbits that he had been protecting.

Inuyasha drew Tetsusaiga and cut up the length of the youkai. Shippo was lying unconscious on the ground and Kagome ran over to him. By the time she was kneeling beside his lifeless body, she was crying. Inuyasha ran over and held Kagome to him, while she wept over the injured kitsune. That was what he was, injured, but would be dead if he didn't get him treated, so as quickly as he could, Inuyasha picked Shippo up and jumped over the tree tops. Kagome got the message and ran as fast as she could towards the campsite, but noticed that Miroku, Sango, and Kirara were already standing behind her. Without speaking, Kagome got on Kirara.

The whole way to Kaede's village, Kagome was sullen and crying. Miroku and Sango were silent, not being able to get the image of the blood soaked kitsune out of their minds. Inuyasha was already at Kaede's village with the kitsune, and Shippo's red blood was now contrasting against the red of his haori. In the front of Kaede's hut, stood the old woman herself, when she looked up and saw the sight in front of her, she immediately went into her hut to set up treatment arrangements.

Inuyasha took Shippo inside and refused to listen to the child's labored breaths, he could now smell the poison in the bite. “What inflicted the damage?” Kaede asked, not looking up from her preparations.

“A poisonous snake youkai…” Kaede hesitated a bit, but continued afterwards. `There are many a children getting poisoned in this day and age, is it coincidence?' Kaede glanced at the other child in her hut that was poisoned, an infant female inu-hanyou, that came into the village through a passageway of some kind. Her elder sister, Kikyo, said she sensed the presense of some kind of portal opening, similar to that of the Bone-Eater's Well.

The other's arrived in the hut when Inuyasha was placing Shippo on the mat where Kaede indicated. They all sat around Shippo with depressed faces, but that turned to surprise at what happened next.

Before Kaede could even touch Shippo, a glowing white light began to lift Shippo from the wooden floor. Inuyasha was about to intervene, when Kaede stopped him. “No, I recognize this energy…” Slowly, Kaede looked at the little girl across the hut and saw that she was not only awake, but her eyes were glowing white, just like Shippo. When the little girl stood, and snapped her fingers, Shippo stopped glowing and gently landed, feet first, on the floor. When the little kitsune's green eyes opened to look at everyone, they all gasped, except Kaede.

Kagome smiled a radiant smile and took the fox into her arms. “Thank you so much, Kaede!” Kagome was now crying tears of joy, but got a confused look at Kaede's answer.

“It was not me who saved Shippo, but another little one, who should be no where near as healed as she is, especially when I did not treat her.” Kaede's eyes were still glued to the little girl across the room, who seemed to be exhausted from healing Shippo, as she slumped against the wall behind her. When the group heard the thump, they turned to look at the little girl.

“Who is that Kaede?” Sango looked at the little girl and was waiting for the miko's answer.

“I have no idea. She appeared in a strange light that was very powerful, and I do not know what the light was. All I know is that she had fatal injuries. One was a deep slash in her side; the other was on her ear. There was poison in the wounds, and she was also very spiritually, physically, and emotionally labored. I could not treat her, as she put a barrier around herself the moment she awoke in this hut. That was less than half a day ago, and yet, her wounds are completely healed and energy restored, except for what she just used to heal Shippo.” Everyone in the hut stared at the little girl and saw her awake from the two minute sleep she just had, seemingly fully regenerated. The golden eyes of the girl met those of Shippo, and she smiled a toothy grin.

Shippo hopped out of Kagome's lap and walked over towards the girl. The girl's smile vanished and she backed towards the wall more. Shippo's eyes saddened and Kagome looked at the girl. “Don't worry little one, Shippo won't hurt you.” The little girl looked back and forth between the two and decided to trust them, because another smile appeared on her face. When Shippo did reach her, the girl hugged him, and started to dance like a silly little runt.

“Well, she is happy now that she seems to trust us, although I don't think it a good thing that she trusts us so easily. That means she would trust our enemies easily.” Miroku said.

“I do not take that to be the case Miroku, for she seems to be smart for her age.” Inuyasha snorted at Kaede's comment.

“If she was “Smart for her age”, then she should be able to talk, after all, she seems to be around the age of…,” he sniffed, “…about one year old. She's a hanyou too, so she should be able to speak already.” Kagome gave him an angry look.

“Maybe she can talk, no one's actually spoken to her yet.” Inuyasha whimpered a little bit and didn't say anything. Kagome looked at the girl who was goofing around with Shippo and said, “Little girl?” The hanyou girl looked at Kagome and puffed out her cheeks.

“Ame Akemi, no lill girl, lill Akemi!” A few of them couldn't help but giggle, and even Inuyasha gave a little smile.

“Well, she can talk, but not very sensibly.” Miroku chuckled. Again, Akemi puffed her cheeks.

“Ca too talks se-s-sesibly.” Kagome then squeaked very loudly, causing Shippo, Kirara, Inuyasha, and Akemi to try and cover their ears.

“How adorable!” Sango laughed at Kagome and looked at the little girl.

“I'm Sango.” Akemi looked at the woman taijiya and smiled.

“Ello, Laty Saago.” Everyone giggled again. Miroku smiled and waved to Akemi, getting her attention.

“I am Miroku, a monk of Buddha.” Akemi eyes brightened and smiled again.

“Ello, Miraku, a mok of Butta.” Inuyasha cracked up at this one and everyone else was there with him, even Kaede.

Kagome smiled and said, “Hello Akemi, I'm Kagome.”

“Ello, Laty Kagamee.” Inuyasha was still laughing when Kagome said his name.

“Akemi, I would like you to meet Inuyasha. He is a hanyou like you. Say Inuyasha.”

The little hanyou looked at the other hanyou who now seemed to be kind of angry at Kagome, which he was angry that she had told the little girl that he was a hanyou. Maybe even because she told the girl that she was a hanyou herself. He remembered how his life had been because of being a hanyou. But Akemi didn't comment on the word hanyou, just greeted him, which made Inuyasha blush.

“Ello, Lord Inuyasha.” No one laughed at that. How had Akemi known Inuyasha was the son of a taiyoukai? Not only that, but they thought none of their names were exactly hard to pronounce, but Inuyasha's certainly wasn't the easiest, but Akemi had pronounced it with no difficulties.

“And I'm Shippo.” The kitsune was the only one who seemed oblivious, but the others pushed it out of their minds, as Akemi pronounced Shippo's name.

“Ello, Hippo!” Kagome laughed the hardest at this because she pictured Shippo being a hippo youkai instead of a fox. And then they all silenced as Kaede introduced herself.

“And I am Kaede, I am the miko of this village.” Akemi didn't smile. She stared at the woman, remembering the last words of her mother to her brother, and the word miko wrung a bell too.

“Ello, Laty Ede…has mommy come yet?” Everyone looked at the child at this point and Inuyasha let it slip.

“Why would your mother come here? And who is your mother?” Everyone gave him a unvoiced consent, but also a silent kick.

Akemi got a very heartbreaking look and said, “Mommy was poteting me, and she got innured. Katsuro came and tied to potet me, but Aku innured him weally badly and tied to kill me, but wan away, to here, betaus mommy sat she come here. I want Katsuro…”

Inuyasha regretted asking, but it had to be asked. Then Miroku took the initiative. “So, who is your mother?” Everyone looked at him, and Sango punched him in the head.

“Mommy is Supeme Miko, ery utiful, an mawied Daddy! Daddy strong lord of cental lands. I have two alder sibwings. Four yea ald bwother Katsuro an Twee yea ald siser Aiko! Many friends too. My two maters awe mawied an ave ive ids. Ichiro is ive, Chika an Kimiko awe twins an awe twee, Hitomi is two, and Kichiro is my age, one. Big famiwy!!” Akemi giggled and clapped her hands. Kaede got a very weird look in her eyes.

“Shippo, why don't you show Akemi around the village.” Shippo smiled and grabbed Akemi's hand. The two ran out of the hut and Kaede looked at the group, but Inuyasha said it first.

“There is no lord of the central lands, just north, south, east, and west.”

Kaede added, “For that matter, there is no Supreme Miko either.” Everyone wondered what this was about, but passed it off as Akemi's view of her parents. Her mother was probably just a miko, and her father was maybe just a normal demon, but there was no way to know.

“And another thing, who is Aku?” Inuyasha said with a hint of annoyance. “According to Akemi, he sounds like an ass.” Everyone nodded, but there was nothing they could do.

Shortly after, Sango and Miroku left to find out about any other jewel shards, while Inuyasha went to find Shippo and Akemi. Kagome stayed with Kaede.

“Kagome, I think ye should come with me.” Kagome nodded and followed Kaede out of the hut. They left the village and went into the forest, going to the normal clearing that was near the Goshinbuku.

“What are we going to do today Kaede?” Every time the group came back to the village, Kaede took her to this clearing to help her train her miko powers. There was a different lesson each time, and Kagome then had to train more with the lesson through her dreams.

“Today, I want to just speak with you, it is important that you know who you are and what your purpose is, not only that, but you must also know something of the future. That is all, you should have a dream tonight telling you more.” With that said, the two mikos walked back to the village, it was already nightfall. Inuyasha and the others were in the hut and Akemi and Shippo were sleeping. Kagome laughed at them, since they were cuddled up together, Shippo protecting her like an older brother.

“We found a rumor of another shard, about a day's walk from here. We can go there tomorrow.” Inuyasha had a happy gleam in his eye as Miroku announced this. Sango yawned and said goodnight. Her and Miroku settled into their double, while Kagome went into her sleeping bag. With a smile, she went into dream land, but not for long.

A white forest. Everything visible to the eye was only five feet in front of your face. The falling flurry of snow blanketed the ground, the trees, and anything that was exposed to the sky. Two things stood out against the white, one was clothed in old fashioned armor, and the other, was clad in thick emerald green armor, similar to that of a knight of medieval Europe, but more fancy. The shoulders were spiked, while there was a very feminine feel to it. It was low cut and tight around her body.

The two figures began to speak; this is when Kagome moved her astral body towards them. When she was close enough, she recognized one of them, it wasn't her, but another miko she saw about a year ago. The last time she laid eyes on this miko, she was stone, with a gapping hole where her heart should be, but this Midoriku was whole and made of flesh. The other woman seemed to be a miko as well, and a golden rapier was at her side. Her hair was almost as long as Midoriku's, and when Kagome looked closely, she looked remarkably like Midoriku herself.

“I am tiring of this.” The Midoriku look alike announced. Kagome decided in her unconscious mind to call the woman, Fushigi, but she wasn't sure why.

“You have no choice.” Midoriku seemed to be mad at the girl, as if they were fighting over something.

“I will not allow it to happen again. You are not even of this time, it is my time to live.” Fushigi was furious and seemed to be struggling with something.

“You are not strong enough to resist, demon!” Midoriku jumped into the air and was about to strike the woman, when a pink light erupted from Fushigi's body, around the area of her heart. “How dare you, you filthy demon, give it back to me!”

“Does this have to occur, Midoriku, we are on the verge of destroying him, don't take away such an opportunity. Your time is over, the fight between you and all those demons is over, you should allow us to continue the fight.” Fushigi now seemed grim, but was using the pink light to protect herself. Before the dream faded out, Kagome realized that the pink light was that of the Shikon no Tama, in the most pure state she has ever felt.

“Kagome, breakfast is ready.” Kagome opened her eyes, but immediately shut them from the sun's rays. “Come on, Kagome, we have to leave soon, and you should really eat something.” Sango's voice made Kagome sit up in her sleeping bag, but ever so slowly.

She stretched her arms high above her head with a yawn, then she wiped the sleep from her eyes, standing to walk over to the rest of the group to the cooking area of Kaede's hut. “Ah, Kagome, did ye have the dream that ye were meant to have?”

Kagome's brow furrowed in confusion and said, “Yes, but I don't really understand it. You told me there are three dreams I should have, past, present, and future. If there was someone in my dream that I know is dead, but something was also in the dream that I know only existed after that person died, which one is it?” Kaede looked at Kagome and sighed.

“I am afraid…that when finding who you are, it only yourself that can find the answers.” Kagome sighed and went about eating her breakfast. After everyone was done eating, they watched Akemi and Shippo play together. They had a little red ball and were throwing it back and forth, but Akemi kept popping it, causing Shippo to continuously have to fix it. Then he showed the little girl how to play without popping it.

When Inuyasha was so impatient that he started tapping his fingers on little Akemi's head, causing her to blink every time his fingers made contact, and laughed when Kagome sat him. Just after that, they all set out up the mountain.

It took a day, but by the next day, they were at a tiny village. When they were in earshot, a woman ran out of the hut closest to a mountain path. “I'm so glad you're here. A demon with a jewel shard is in the mountain!”

Ok, I know I rushed the traveling, but I was never good with the traveling bit, and I'm kinda anxious for the next chapter because it's important and will probably be difficult to write. Well, R&R!!!!
