InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Dances With Wolves ❯ Grown Up ( Chapter 6 )
[ X - Adult: No readers under 18. Contains Graphic Adult Themes/Extreme violence. ]
Summary: Kagome's bored at home with nothing to do so she heads through the well. The thing is, there's terrible encounter waiting for her at the other end. K/K This story is rated M for sexual scenes, violence, and profanity in certain chapters.
I would also like to note that there will be no Naraku or any other of his `children' in this story. I couldn't find anywhere to fit them in, so let's just say that he was defeated not too long after Shinta's birth, Okay? Okay. Another thing, I'm not planning on ending this real soon. There's gonna be more, don't worry.
Disclaimer: I don't own any of the characters from Inuyasha or any other works from Takahashi-sensei. Though I wish I owned Kouga. Has anybody else noticed how finely toned his body is? Damn! If only I could find a guy like that. ((sighs))
Niki: Hello! We're finally to chapter 6! Yeah!
Gary: Hey… Someone's missing…
Kouga: Mutt Face is missing. He probably went to sulk somewhere.
Inuyasha: I'm over here, you damn wolf! I hate you!
Niki: Well, I'm sure you would like to hear the story instead of some bastard's ranting, so here it is!!!
Chapter six
Grown up
(---Present Era---)
Kagome's mother stood in the doorway to her daughter's room. She was softly crying, wondering when her daughter would return. She hadn't seen here for months. She jumped, feeling a hand on her shoulder, but relaxed, assuming it was her father. She turned around to scold him, but found Kagome standing there, holding the hand of a small, raven haired child. “Ka…Kagome? Are you finally back? Why… Why do you look like that? And who is this?” she exclaimed pointing to the little girl. She peeked around Kagome at her tail, tugging at it slightly to make sure it was real.
“It's been a long time, mom. I've been waiting for 500 years to see you again,” she cried, letting the little girl go and hugging her mother tightly.
“Wha…? What!” A tall man with black hair and ice blue eyes stepped into the room, picking up the child. He had baggy jeans and a blue shirt.
“It's true. She's been waiting all this time,” he smiled. Kagome's mother just stared in awe at the people in front of her.
“Kagome, who is this young man? And who is this little girl?” Her mother asked, quite anxious for introductions.
“This is Kouga, my mate, and this is Shinta, my daughter.” Her mother wailed.
“But, you are only 17, Kagome! And Shinta looks to be about 5 years old… how long were you planning on keeping this from me!”
“If I may,” Kouga interrupted, “Kagome is about five hundred and seventeen years old. And Shinta is about five hundred.” ((A/N: Since Kagome was bitten at age 17, she was as old looking as Kouga, who was a few centuries old at the time that they met. Let's just say that for every 100 years that goes by, werewolves age 1 year.)) Kagome laughed at her mother who was now on the verge of hysteria.
“My daughter's older than I am! How is that possible!” Kagome pulled her mother into a chair and began to explain everything.
(-------------)
Kagome's mother sat in the chair with a very dazed look on her face. “Mother?” Kagome questioned. She looked up at her daughter.
“How is this possible? Poor Kagome… I bet you were hysterical when you found out about Inuyasha…” She sighed. “Oh well. What brings you here?” She asked, standing up and talking cheerfully. Kouga smiled at Kagome. The woman had the weirdest mood swings. Kagome smiled back, standing up.
“How about we have some food first?” She smiled. Her mother dashed to the kitchen, getting out the ingredients for a dish that Shinta might like. Kagome picked up Shinta while her mother cooked in the kitchen. “What do you think of my mother?” she asked.
“She's nice. Does she make food as good as you do, mommy?” Shinta asked. Kagome smiled, setting the child down.
“Why don't you smell for yourself?” she winked. Shinta sniffed the air delicately, her bright blue eyes widening at the smell, dashing into the kitchen with her grandmother. Kagome looked to her mate, who was watering at the mouth. She quickly clamped his jaw shut, laughing. “You're so mean. You think my mother's cooking is better than mine?” She pouted playfully.
Kouga laughed outright. “Of course not! Her food still smells good, though. Why don't you help? I'm sure that you could talk to her about Remus. She might be able to help.” Kagome's expression saddened for a moment, but returned to normal, smiling. Kouga
“Maybe after we get settled for a while. My room must still be intact. Let's go look!” She exclaimed, dragging Kouga off to her bedroom. She paused at the doorway, gazing into her room. It was the exact same as she had remembered it. She sauntered into the room, plopping down on her bed. “Ah…” she exclaimed as Kouga plopped down next to her. “I'm so glad my mother didn't freak out when she saw me with that tail. I wonder why nobody can see our demon characteristics but those in my family and a few others?” she wondered, sitting up. Kouga playfully pulled her back down.
“Don't worry right now. We're safe for the time being.”
Kagome sighed. Cuddling next to her lover. “I hope you're right.”
(-------------)
“Obaba(1)… This smells so yummy!” Shinta exclaimed. She hugged her grandmother tightly, waiting to eat the taiyaki(2)she was making. “Obaba… Can you help mommy and daddy?” she asked suddenly. Kagome's mother blinked a few times.
“What do you mean?” Shinta suddenly remembered she wasn't allowed to tell, and quickly came up with an alibi.
“I mean, can we live here for a while?” Miss Higurashi smiled at her granddaughter.
“Of course. Why don't you run up to your parents and tell them that the taiyakiis almost ready?” she smiled. Shinta glowed.
“Hai! I'll be right back, Obaba!” she said before running up to where her parents were. Kagome's mother sighed. ((A/N: I don't know her name! If anyone could tell me, it would be much appreciated.)) `What was Shinta going to say before she changed her mind?Is there trouble?' she thought before Kagome and her family entered the room.
“Obaba! I got them!” Shinta shouted. She pulled her parents to the table, and they sat down, Kouga pulling her into his lap, tickling her. “Daddy! We need to eat, not play!” she squealed. Kagome's mother smiled warmly at them, setting the plate of Taiyaki on the table.
“Shinta, have you ever tasted taiyaki before?” she asked the small child. Shinta blinked her eyes at the woman.
“Tai… yaki? Is that what this is called? Daddy always called it `Heaven'.” Kagome blinked, then smiled at her mate. He just smiled and shrugged his shoulders.
“It's true. Your food is heaven!” He laughed. Kagome's mother sat down at the table, and they all said “Itadakimasu(3)” before digging into her plate. Shinta practically ate half of the meal. “She eats as much as I do, so you better watch out, Mrs. Higurashi,” Kouga laughed. Kagome and her mother chuckled. Shinta just looked up at them, confused. She didn't eat that much. Well, maybe she did. She didn't keep track.
Once finished, Kagome helped her mother clean up the dishes and food while Kouga and Shinta played in the other room. She decided now would be a good time to ask her mother for help. “Mother?” She turned to her daughter, a concerned look on her face.
“Hai. What is it?” Kagome put away the last dish she had before sitting down.
“Since I last went through the well, I have been transformed into a werewolf, as you have noticed. When I came out, a werewolf confronted me, trying to make me his mate. His name was Remus. He hurt me, badly, but I was rescued by Kouga. I thought I would take weeks, possibly months to heal, but surprisingly, it only took four days because I was a werewolf. I've known Kouga for a long time, since some of my first travels through the well. I lived with him, because when I tried to get back through the well, it wouldn't let me, probably because I'm a werewolf, now.
“I met Inuyasha once more, but he tried to claim me, to… make me his, but he turned full demon, and he hurt me. He tried to rape me, because he wasn't himself anymore, but Kouga came again, and saved me. Then Inuyasha saw what I was. When me and Kouga came back, we… officially became mates. Eight months later, I saw my friends again, all except Inuyasha. I soon gave birth to Shinta, but also found out that Inuyasha died by the hand of his brother, Sesshoumaru. Inuyasha gave these rings and a note to his brother, who gave them to Miroku, who gave them to me,” Kagome exclaimed, handing the note to her mother. She read it over, small tears brought to her eyes. She hugged her daughter, then pulled back slightly.
“But, Kagome, why are you here now?” Kagome sniffed.
“Since Remus turned me into a werewolf, he's been looking for me and Kouga. We've stayed at the homes of our friends and companions, but he keeps finding us. He found us at our old home, and he burned it to the ground while I was gone, but Kouga got Shinta out in time. We don't have any more money, because of that. We lost everything. Remus says that I am truly his, and that Kouga doesn't deserve such a beautiful creature as me. We've been running away from him, because he's trying to kill Kouga and Shinta so he can have me. I don't know where to go, anymore,” she sobbed. Suddenly Kouga came in, and she felt two muscular arms wrap tightly around her waist, hugging her. Kouga looked towards his mate's mother.
“We really need your help. We were thinking of going to hide in a different country, like America, but we don't have the money to fund it, and have nowhere to stay. That's why we really need your help,” Kouga exclaimed solemnly. Kagome sniffed.
“Mom, can we stay here while we search for another home? And when we find it, will you help us buy it? I know it's asking a lot, but-”
“Oh, Kagome. I will do anything to help you. I don't want anything to happen to you, your husband, or your daughter. I will help you in any way that I can,” her mother sobbed while hugging her daughter tightly. She reluctantly let go, letting her daughter's mate hug her tightly, his face nuzzled into her neck, both crying softly. “Well, I can't do anything right now, so you all should go to bed, get a good rest,” she smiled, walking to the next room to lift her sleeping granddaughter off the floor. She motioned the two parents to follow her into her bedroom, letting the young girl lay in the middle of her bed.
“I'll sleep in your old room, Kagome. You three can sleep in my room for now. Please, do try not to worry too much. I'm sure all will be well in the end.” She let them in, turning on the light before shutting the door. Kagome was still crying slightly, and Kouga sat her down on the bed to comfort her.
“Kagome… I'm sure we'll be alright. Your mother seems very nice, and I'm sure that Remus has never met her. We're safe. All of us. No matter what happens, I won't let anything harm to either of you. I love you too much that I couldn't bear to lose you,” Kouga stated. Kagome leaned back into her mate's embrace.
“I know. I don't want to lose anyone else. I've lost too many of my friends and family already,” she sighed. She really missed her friends. She had buried too many people who died while fighting Naraku. Luckily, he was dead and gone, now. She sighed, cuddling against her husband's chest and falling asleep. She silently hoped that nothing would go wrong tomorrow before she fell completely asleep. All she could do at the moment was wait for tomorrow to come, and hope that it went well.

Niki: Poor Shinta. Growing up like that. She seems to be taking it well, though.
Gary: Well, she's a little kid. What did you expect?
Kouga: Children can be scared of what is going to happen to them just as much as adults can.
Gary: Yeah, whatever. ((yawns)) Wake me up when the story's more exciting and not full of sap stories.
Niki: Fine. Well, please R&R! I hope you like the story so far! No flames, though, please.
