Chapter 5: When a strong heart collapses…- part 1

Vengeance and Revenge are very strong feelings, they make you numb to everything else around you and the pain you feel goes away… but when Revenge is over and all those feelings it made you numb to come back… will you break, or will you survive? No one can withstand the full force of sadness and depression alone…”- Unknown

*Back at Kaedes Hut*

Sango had entered the hut after leaving an half finished bottle of Sake outside, she was feeling light-headed depressed… she had gone through almost every possible memory she had about everyone, Inuyasha who she had first tried to kill because of Narakus manipulation and lies, Kagome who was almost like her sister, Shippo who was a tiny bundle of energy and laughter, Kirara, her friend and companion for as long as she could remember… her family… just by remembering her family she felt nauseous and her chest constricted with pain… they were all dead… every last one… taken away by Naraku…

Then lastly there was Miroku… the houshi whose family had been cursed by Naraku, or it had been cursed but now that curse was gone, meaning he no longer had the need for an heir, he could live however he wanted and wherever he wanted due to his profession… there were always places in Japan that had a need for an houshi but for an lone Tai-jya there was not much need at all… especially since she was a woman…

She felt tears slowly welling up in her eyes… she was at an dead end, she had no family or home to go back to, since she was an Tai-jya she was more likely feared than respected and even if she were to quit her profession and try to start a life somewhere it wouldn't work, slaying Youkai was the only thing she knew about, she didn't know what it means to live peacefully without fighting… not to mention who would want a woman who had more scars in her body than an experienced samurai? She remembered Kagome telling her about the time where she came from, where there were men who actually WANTED their women to strong… scarred or not… Sango really wished she could have been born in that era… where people aren't so petty minded…

(Not really what you expected from Sango huh? Well, I did say they would be OOC.)

She then eyed the hut with her weary eyes, spotting all their weapons scattered here and there, even Inuyashas Tetsusaiga, now that Naraku was gone there really weren't any Youkai that he couldn't handle… with the exception of Kouga and Sesshoumaru, though the later one was not a threat anymore since giving up on trying to get Tetsusaiga… heh, why would he actually want a sword he couldn't use now that he had Toukiji that's power was equal to Tetsusaiga and he could handle it with ease?

Sango shook her head, the sake was really making her lose it… she hadn't drunk too much but it was making her woozy… she walked until slumping against the wall, then sliding down to sit against it, right next to her boomerang and katana… she just didn't have the strength anymore, in the past she had been a strong huntress and in her village she had been respected but now… what was the point anymore? Her strength was now her greatest weakness, no one wanted a woman who could break in two without much effort at all…

She smacked her face with her palm, she cursed herself for all those thoughts… but what could she do? Now that her vendetta against Naraku was over and she didn't have anything to distract herself from reality she couldn't help it, her instincts as a woman were taking their toll on her for being ignored with a heavy vengeance… she wanted to cry but wouldn't allow herself to do it, crying was not going to help one bit…

In her depressed state she looked around the room until her sight landed on her katana, in her screwed up state of mind the sword looked rather… enticing for some reason, like it was the answer to everything… and… being so heavily depressed as she was, not to mention desperate… desperate for this pressure and feeling of emptiness to stop… in that state of mind she reached out and un-sheathed it slowly, just relishing the sound of it sliding out of it's holder… after taking it out she looked at it with almost blank eyes, then memories of her family kept playing in her head, all the happy memories and sad ones… all the way to the last one, her brother in front of dozens of Youkai… shielding her… then falling down… dead…

Sango could feel her hot tears swelling in her eyes and as she slowly placed both hands on her sword and aimed it towards her stomach, as she closed her eyes her thoughts even though messed up made this one clear sentence: `Kohaku… everyone… I can't bear it anymore, I don't want to be alone anymore… I will see you soon…' and then, even with fear making her arms shake, she started to press the blade towards her stomach…

To Be Continued…
