Chapter 6: Fight between rivals, the final moment of hope…

"Time is absolute, nothing can disturb it's will or course… yet, should we gain the means to change the past, even without knowing were doing it… could we pay the price for changing the course oftime?" - Unknown

*At the Well with Inuyasha, Kagome and TADA, Kouga!*

Inuyasha couldn't believe this, didn't want to believe this and would not believe this… yet, he had little choice but to believe it… Kagome was in a similar state, if she was a Youkai she would by now first growl with fury and then roar with pure promise of an impending bloody murder… So to put all this simply, this is how they felt:

Inuyasha: Cursing every last god and devil of heaven and hell for creating that mangy wimpy wolf bastard of an asshole…

Kagome: Quite similar to Inuyashas except for the first time she really DID want Inuyasha to beat Kouga to a bloody pulp, no questions asked and no protests this time… yet, she still didn't want Inuyasha to get hurt so…

It took forever until the silence broke, because both sides were in a similar level of shock, Inuyasha was struggling inside himself about what he should do, he could just attack the wolf and tear him to pieces for interrupting their mating moment… but no matter how irresistible that feeling and urge was, he knew that Kagome would not approve of it and he might wind up getting `sat' again… so he waited for a few seconds to see what would happen… (Wow, he's learning something… hell must have frozen over…)

Kagome was literally, frozen, this was far from good… it is just so hard to believe how a moment of absolute bliss like the one a few seconds ago could be broken in an instant and being replaced with this feeling of frustration, anger and pure, absolute hate… she had never truly hated someone besides Naraku but now she had a very hard time NOT to hate Kouga, it was just simply too much to control anymore, sure he had been a good friend and his flirting had made Inuyasha admit that she was more than just a shard detector but right now… this was going way too far, during the 4 years Kouga had become more liked obsessed with her rather than loving her like he said he did so many times… frankly, he had started feeling more like an stalker than lover…

Kagome just couldn't figure Kouga out anymore, he must as dense as Hojo or something… perhaps DENSER… for not getting the hint at all and now, he had interrupted something she had dreamed for 4 long years… she had been patient with him, she had tolerated his obsessive way of saying `my woman' but now… least to say is that this was the last drop on the already overflowing cup… if this would break into a fight she would not stop it, unless it got out of hand, which was very likely to happen.

Then something hit her, considering that Kouga had interrupted their most precious moment, Inuyasha had been strangely calm… no insults, no barking, no nothing… she at first thought that maybe he had actually matured more than she originally thought… she questioned herself though after feeling a very, VERY low and dark growl rising slowly in his chest and this may sound weird but… she was slightly turned on by his possessiveness, must be because of the timing and the circumstances but still…

Kouga on the other hand felt, angry to say the least but it was mostly because he had seen that if he had been late just for a minute longer, that dog shit would have made it impossible for him to claim Kagome as his… and that hit his pride more than his heart, nobody steals his women and gets away with it, especially a dog shit hanyou… yet, he just did not understand, what made Kagome stay with that hanyou? He wouldn't be able to protect her like he could, he wouldn't be able to breed strong pups like he could and most of all, if that dog shit was to mate with her she would be tainted by his half-blood and for someone as pure as Kagome, he would find it un-thinkable… (Dense? Idiot is what I would call him, I don't hate him or anything, this is just how I see it.)

So what made her stay with him? His status? No way, that dog shit maybe the second son of the lord of the western lands but that was just a title when it came to him, he had no real claims to this land as long as Sesshoumaru was alive… while he was a prince of the largest wolf Youkai tribe in these lands and he was the first to lay a vocal claim on his woman while the hanyou had not made any kinds of claims, that plus the fact that he was the strong alpha male meant that Kagome really didn't have a saying in the matter so he could claim her at any moment he chose, yet, she still refused to leave with him… why? Was it because she had the duty of gathering the shikon shards with that dog shit? Bah, if she came with him the jewel could be completed a lot more faster…

Whatever the reason was that made her stick to the hanyous side, it was irrelevant at this point, wolf tribes all over Japan expected that she was his mate and the infamous `White priestess' as she was called in the Youkai and human world for her power and nature, as well because she was the guardian of the jewel, so now that it was questioned where his mate was he had to claim her now because any later would make him a laughing stock… he had hoped that she would have been alone so he could have snatched her without a fuss and then taken her to the place she belonged, to take her place as his alpha female, she would resist at first but he would just have to take time and convince her otherwise…

(I apologise for the lack of dialogue, there will be more eventually.)

The silence was broken when Kouga decided to open his mouth again: "Get off of my woman dog shit!" he said with a growl, the almost mated couple with a groan and one side muttering curses while the other just tried to keep her anger in check got up and dusted themselves and Kagome was still, even though pissed of herself, was still amazed of how much control Inuyasha was showing he really had matured…

"GET IT INTO YOUR THICK MOTHER*#"¤%*#¤ HEAD YOU STUPID #¤"¤"¤%" OF A #¤"%&¤!" SHE IS NOT YOUR WOMAN!!!" yelled Inuyasha with a roar like sound that made about every Youkai within 200 mile radius wonder `What the fuck was that?' (Sorry about the censorship but the language I would have used would be too brutal for even an NC-17 rated fic…) And also, Kagome thought with sigh and rolled eyes: `Then again… maybe he has not…'

*Back at Kirara and the others*

"I wonder if Kouga and Inuyasha have started yet…?" Asked Miroku with a thoughtful expression, just before anyone got to answer though, the roar like sound and the swears it carried rushed through them, almost making them deaf and after a few seconds of silence Sango said with a grim expression: "Does that answer your question?" Miroku just looked shocked, that was the first time Inuyasha had used words THAT ugly… sure he cussed and swore all the time but this one… whoo… Miroku had no idea that he even knew words like that…

Shippo though, asked with a child like innocence: "Ummm… guys? What does #¤"%&¤, mean?" That made them all turn red, even Kirara and both Miroku and Sango said at the same time with the same speed: "You don't want to know!" Shippo just made `humpf' sound and stuck his nose in the air, Inuyasha style, making everyone think: `And he says that Inuyasha is not his father idol…'

*Back at the staggering Kikyo*

"Almost there, just a few more minutes… please, hang on… Inuyasha and… Kagome… if I don't get there in time, hell will break loose…" Muttered Kikyo to herself, her body was ready to collapse at any second, her left arm had already dropped off and her cheeks had small holes in them already, not to mention her chest and ribs were already beginning to crumble, she kept praying that her body would hold out for just a few more minutes… then she thought in her mind: `The well… eternal seal… inside the stream of time… the ruin-bringer… it must not break loose!'

"I wonder, how much is it to the village, my sense of distance and direction is already dimming…" She stopped for a few seconds and that's when the roaring reached her ears, making one of them shatter and break into dust, she thought with a blush in her cheeks: `That way… dear kami, what kind of words were those? #¤"¤"¤%" OF A #¤"%&¤ I didn't know something like that was possible… dear kami…'

*The well…*

Kagome was sitting at the edge of the well rubbing her temples, she knew this would happen, she just knew… first they had started a mother of all verbal wars, then the usual `I've come to take back my woman…' blaa blaa blaa but that's when it got weird, Inuyasha had attacked him but instead of trying to fight him Kouga had dodged and ran right in front of her and without saying anything had kissed her, catching all of them by surprise… well, except Inuyasha who was fuming now and was at the edge of going full demon and since the Tetsusaiga was at the hut… well, if he did turn she would need to `sit' him… after the kiss Kouga had tried to grab her and take her away but her senses had returned a lot faster than she thought, maybe it was because of the thought of being separated from her soon-to-be mate, whatever it was, it helped her regain her senses and even though exhausted from the battle earlier today, Kagome had used a minimal amount of miko power to make Kouga release her and before any questions were asked, she slapped him calling him `the biggest idiot known to this planet, then the fight started when Inuyasha pounced on Kouga, making them roll away from her.

She felt dirty, Kougas kiss had been nothing like Inuyashas, it had been forced and tasted horrible, while Inuyashas had always been soft and sweet… almost addictive… no, they WERE addictive… (What woman would disagree? I ain't a woman so I wouldn't know…) and also, when Kouga had grabbed her she could feel that he was desperate… desperate for what? To have her as his? She found the idea infuriating, he did not as much as bother to ask before trying anything… typical male Youkai…

So she watched them fight, even though she kept telling herself than Kouga had this coming sooner or later, she still felt guilty… she didn't want them to fight… she didn't want either to get hurt because of her… yet, she knew at the back of her mind that there was nothing that could stop them at this point, using the `sit' command would only encourage Kouga even further and interfering would only serve the same purpose… so she did the next best thing, she hoped neither would die because of this…

Kouga and Inuyasha were locked in a primitive hand-to-hand… or claw-to-claw in this case, style mortal combat, snarls, growls, barks and other kinds of animal sounds were heard as they clawed, kicked, cut, slashed, blocked and dodged each other's attacks, it was almost like a blur to anyone around them but to an trained eye like Kagome's they could see that the battle was even in many ways:

Kouga had the advantage of speed because of the shards in his legs.

But Inuyasha had more experience on fighting a fast opponent, Kouga may be fast but not as fast as Sesshoumaru so he could keep up.

Inuyasha had the upper-hand when it came to physical strength.

Kouga on the other hand had the advantage of taunting him to make a mistake.

Inuyasha was more observant during the battle.

But Kouga was more cunning I'm afraid.

But, Inuyasha had the biggest advantage because of a single person: Kagome and it gave him the three biggest things needed to win a fight: Determination, motivation and willpower. The thought of her in the hands of this flea infested wolf made him determined not the let that happen, the thought of Kouga making Kagome his was giving him the willpower to keep himself fighting and the image of him making her bear his pups was more than enough of a motivation to kill him… also, the actions that Kagome took to prevent Kouga from taking her away made his chest swell with pride, he was proud of Kagome… that helped him not to loose his cool too often.

Kouga on the other hand, was more confused than determined, Kagome's actions had made him lose a large part of his motivation and lastly, the fact that Inuyasha was fighting with such ferocity was making his willpower to keep fighting waver… he just did not understand, what made Kagome stay with him? She had for the first time, openly refused his approaches, slapping him and calling him the biggest idiot known to this planet… and now she was making no effort to stop the fight… usually she would have `sat' this mutt by now and that had been what he had expected but it never came, why? Was she really wanting him and Inuyasha to settle this once and for all? Kagome, the girl who never wanted to see anyone hurt was willing to step aside from this…?

Did she really love this Dog shit and did she have so much confidence in his abilities that she knew he would win? NO! That can't be it, this dog crap must have put her under some kind of a spell, yes… that must be it! He had put a spell on her to make her his mate and then have both Kagome and the jewel to himself! `Not while I'm around! I'll kill this hanyou and then release Kagome from his spell and make her see that I'm the one worthy of her!' he thought with a snarl. (God, can he get anymore denser than that?)

After a few more attacks they got themselves locked onto each other, one hand holding the other and they were face to face, snarling and growling, Inuyashas eyes were flashing with red every now and then but he knew that if turned full demon he would kill this wolf and even if Kagome hated this wolf now, she still would not want to see him dead, 4 years of being open with her taught him that, the only person she ever wanted to see dead was Naraku… which was understandable because he had been a true monster, evil to the core, yet Kouga may be annoying and gets in the way and he wanted to kill him, he was not Naraku, he was just a rival who was after his woman… it was just a Youkai thing, nothing like Naraku so even though he hated Kouga, he did NOT deserve to die… and he found out that beating him within the inch of his life was a lot more fun than killing him, sadistic… maybe, but Kagome doesn't have to know that.

Kouga growled and snarled at Inuyasha, telling him without words that Kagome was his and he would make him pay for touching her and turning her against him.

Inuyasha just barked and growled with a smirk, telling him that he didn't need to turn her against him, he was doing it pretty well himself already.

Kouga then hissed and growled more menacingly, telling Inuyasha that he was not worthy of her and what did he really have to give her besides a life as an outcast for mating a hanyou?

Inuyasha growled so low and menacingly that Kougas tail lowered a bit as if in fear, he was telling Kouga that she said it herself `better live a life as an outcast with someone I love than a life as a puppet or a slave to someone like Kouga with no free will or choice.'

That was it for Kouga, he was beyond pissed off, he knew that the hanyou was lying, he just knew… (idiot…) that hardened his resolve, he would defeat this dog shit hanyou and save Kagome from him, so with that in mind he pulled his right arm back suddenly, causing Inuyasha to stumble forward and lose balance somewhat, enabling Kouga to free his right arm from the grip and then he slashed Inuyasha in the face, making Kagome gasp and scream Inuyashas name…

Inuyasha heard Kagome's voice through all the sounds and with reflexes and sense of balance he never knew he had, he put his left foot down, dodged the claws just in the nick of time so they only cut some of his hair, making Kougas eyes widen in shock, there was no way this dog shit could have just dodged in time… just no possible way… Kouga was pulled out of his thoughts when he saw Inuyasha pull his head back and then he saw, in slow motion as his forehead made a hard, sharp and flat impact with his own face, causing some of his teeth get dislocated and his nose began to bleed, all those times they've said Inuyasha had a head as hard as a rock, Kouga had thought it was only a joke but now he knew better, being head-butted by him was equal to have your faced showed against a mountain wall at full speed…

Kougas vision blurred a bit and he noticed that his feet weren't working properly, they were wobbling and were impossible to keep straight… he tried to move but fell to his knees right away… this was not good, that head-butt had made his sense of distance and balance go haywire, if the dog shit attacked now he wouldn't have a snow balls chance in hell to either dodge or survive it… through blurry eyes he saw Inuyasha walk towards him with his chest heaving heavily, he stopped right in front of his kneeling figure and Kouga said with a spat: "Go on, do it already you filthy mutt…"

Kagome looked with her heart pounding in her chest, Inuyasha had Kouga on his feet, ready to die… She wanted to stop them now but she couldn't, the air was so thick with tension that she found it hard to breathe… much less talk… what would Inuyasha do now? He had always wanted to kill Kouga and now was his chance… she prayed for anything… anything to stop this…

And as they say: "Careful what you wish for, you just might get it…"

Inuyasha looked at the wolf on his feet, this was a dream come true to him, Kouga… the mangy wimpy wolf he had always wanted to kill was on his knees in front of him, ready to die… his smirk was feral like and his eyes gleamed with intentions of killing him… but instead, his nose caught the smell of something, three of them… they were surrounded, three Youkai's, big ones… strong ones at that too, so instead he grabbed Kouga by his collar and smacked him in the gut making him gasp and fall to the ground while holding his stomach, after that Inuyasha yelled at Kagome: "Kagome! Go through the well, now!!"

*Back with Kirara and the rest*

Kirara growled loudly, the three Youkais had arrived there and they would need at a little more time to reach them, Shippo heard Kirara's growl and gulped, he then turned to face the others and said: "Bad news guys, the three guests have arrived and were running late…" Sango and Miroku got their weapons ready and Miroku grabbed a hold of the Tetsusaiga, ready throw it to Inuyasha the instant he saw him. Sango prepared the bow and arrows for Kagome while Shippo just thought nervously while checking what items he had left: `Great… I haven't had time to re-fill my items since the battle with Naraku, I only have a few leaves and acorns left, *gulp* Kagome-mama, (Yes, he calls Kagome his mama but in his mind only at the moment.) please be safe, knowing that Baka, he must be at Kougas throat and hasn't noticed anything yet…'

*Back at the village with Kaede.*

Kaede knew something was wrong, the celebrations had ended a little while back but now she couldn't shake the feeling that something dreadful was heading here at high speed… she was walking towards her hut when she saw something she never thought of seeing again, there was someone walking towards the well… `Kikyo? My sister? that can't be… she is resting in peace! How? Why?' Then she noticed her sisters body, it was falling into pieces, she did not have much time left… so as fast as her old bones would carry her, she rushed to her sisters side and carefully took a hold of her right arm and placed it over her shoulder, carefully as not to accidentally tear it off.

Kikyo looked startled at Kaede, she didn't expect anyone to come to her aid, much less her younger sister… yet, as they stared at each other, both could feel their intentions and one thing rose to both of their minds: `Kagome and Inuyasha need help.' so Kaede without asking a question helped her sister towards the well, feeling that the closer she got to the well, the stronger the feeling of dread became…

*The creepy place.*

The being was wiggling more violently now, becoming more and more agitated, it wanted out! Yet the chains held him relentlessly without giving in, he could feel it, the ones with the abilities were right there, right under his nose and yet he couldn't do shit about it…

The being out of sheer frustration yelled at the top of it's lungs: "GODDANM IT!!!! I HATE THIS FUCKING PLACE!!!!"

*Back at the well.*

Kagome was shocked, did Inuyasha just order her to though the well? Why? What was going on? Then her senses picked it up too, three youkais, big ones… most likely after the nearly complete jewel… she got it now, Inuyasha wanted her to go to her time, where it was safe, yet… she didn't want to leave his side! They had faced Naraku and so many other enemies together and she was not going to run away from this one!

Inuyasha saw her hesitation and quickly jumped in front of her and after taking a hold of her shoulders he said: "Listen to me now, you must go through the well!" Kagome removed his arms from her shoulders and said while shaking her head: "No! I will not leave your side, no matter what!" Inuyasha would have swelled with pride but reality was not going to allow that, he then said: "You must! You can't fight now!"

Kouga had just gotten his breath back and he could feel his sense of balance and distance coming back to normal, just like his eye sight, he wondered why in the hell didn't that dog shit finish him off? Had Kagome interfered after all? Then he heard them arguing about something and he thought that she did indeed interfere and now they were arguing about it again (I really wish I could kill him…) but then he was pulled out of his thoughts when the smell of three huge Youkais hit his nose too, they were surrounded… this wasn't good… he was still trying to recover from their fight just now…

Kagome looked at Inuyasha with angered eyes and said: "Why can't I fight? Because I'm weak?!" Inuyasha dropped his ears and then said with a calm, reasoning voice: "Listen, it is not that you're weak, it's because what could you do in your condition? You powers are exhausted and you don't have your bow and arrows with you, so what can you do?" Kagome was ready to retaliate when his reasoning hit her like a ton of bricks… he was right, she was unarmed, her powers were so exhausted that she would be lucky to be able to kill a Youkai at the size of Myoga… she hated to admit it, but there really was nothing she could do… it hurt but it was true…

Inuyasha saw her eyes growing sad so her pulled her into an embrace and said with a warm voice: "Don't be ashamed Kagome, you are more stronger than anyone I've seen or met before, there aren't even a handful of people who could do what you did with Naraku, not even Kikyo could have done that… so, just go, I can fight more better knowing you'll be alright… I won't die, I never will, as long as you're safe." He pulled her tighter into his embrace and purred gently, to soothe her worries…

Kagome heard his words and couldn't help but smile, having Inuyasha spill his feelings like this was rare, so when he did it he was deadly serious and that just made her feel safe and re-assured… so after the embrace ended she nodded and said: "Alright, I will go… but don't you dare get hurt or I'll use `that' word until I have a tunnel all the way to Australia!" He blinked his eyes at her, `Astriatl' what? Kagome saw this and giggled, making him growl playfully and glare at her, she then said: "Never mind, just don't get hurt, okay?" he nodded and smirked, then as Kagome turned around prepared to jump down the well, she took a last glance at Inuyashas retreating form that was heading towards Kouga, for some reason, she caught the feeling that she would not see him again… she shook her head, she will meet him again, no matter what… then, when she was just about to slip down, she could swear she heard someone yell her name but too late, Kagome disappeared to the darkness of the well and was surrounded by the blue light…

Inuyasha made his way to Kouga and asked with a cocky voice: "So, you want to continue or do you want to kill those three?" Kouga growled at him, knowing full well that they would have to work together against these three, no matter, after this he would make the hanyou pay for the humiliation a few moments ago, so answered with a venomous voice: "You know that I don't have a lot of choice, I will make you pay after this though…" Inuyasha just laughed as the three huge Youkais came into view, three very large, about hut sized ogre youkais came out, all of them were dark blue and had only one eye and horns, skin was covered is scales that looked hard like stone and one of them wielded a whip, other had a huge stone club while the last one had a huge hammer made of Youkai bones… they're You-ki was big, this would be a very tough fight… so both of them flexed their claws and Inuyasha asked with a smirk: "So, which of you three shit heads wants to die first? One at a time or all together?"

*At the end of the field*

Kikyo saw the three Youkai emerge but that was not her concern at the moment, she saw much to her horror that her fears had come true… she was too late, her reincarnation already slipped into the darkness of the well and her soul cried her name to stop but it was too late, she saw the blue light emerge from the well and could only think of one thing: `No… I was too late… now, it is only a matter of time before… this world is doomed… the fate of light and darkness, I have failed, there is no hope left now…' I the clay woman could cry, she would have shed tears now, she had failed… the world was doomed…
