Chapter 8: The Emerging of the Being…

 

 

“After a long slumber, the beast awakens… it emerges from the land of nothingness and takes it's first breath, first steps, first sights and then… it will be up to it's own decisions what happens next…” - Unknown

 

 

Everyone just stood there, not moving a muscle, as the light slowly began to die down and the two figures emerged from it, as their scents assaulted Inuyashas and Kougas noses they immediately recognised Kagome's scent but it confused Inuyasha to no end, what the fuck was she doing back here? She should have gone home! Who was that other guy with her? He wasn't human, that was for sure, he was not a Youkai either… neither was he a hanyou… he was… something entirely different than he could think… but, his scent tickled his senses and instincts, he knew it somehow… but that doesn't make sense! What was going on?!

 

 

Kouga too was confused, that was his woman alright but who the fuck was that other guy? He tried to growl at him but noticed that his body wouldn't move, it was frozen, the scent and presence from that guy was making him freeze with… terror?! Why was he feeling scared? He also noticed that the three Youkais that they were supposed to fight against were also frozen, they wouldn't move a muscle… those three were ogres, it would take at least someone like Sesshoumaru to make an ogre of that size feel even the slightest bit of fear, what the hell was going on?!

 

 

Kirara and the others were now within visual range and they saw the two figures stepping out of the light and the first to react was Kirara, she froze in mid air and couldn't take her eyes of the figure, the presence he was radiating was least to say… scary, Kirara felt that if she moved a muscle that presence would tear her to pieces, it was not You-ki or Jaki, it wasn't spiritual power either… it was, something more… ancient… and powerful… she found herself comparing this beings power with that of Naraku and to be honest, Naraku was like a child compared to this one…

 

 

Shippo too felt his tail shake and his body trembling, all his senses and instincts were telling him to run, run like hell and not look back… the only thing that kept him from doing that was one thing: Kagome, he could see and smell her and that kept his mind and body from making him run away, he had to protect his `mother' from that monster… even if it scared him shitless…

 

 

Miroku and Sango both felt their heartbeats starting to pick up as they stared at this new being, it's clothes were unlike anything they had seen before, they weren't Japanese or anything that a Youkai would wear… the details of it's face and body were still a bit unclear because their eyes hadn't yet focused due to that intense light just now, even if they could not pick up it's scent or see it properly yet, they're guts told them that they were in for one hell of a fight…

 

 

Kikyo was trying to keep her arm from trembling, this was it… this being was the one that she had tried to warn them about but now it was too late, he was free and out, yet, there may still be a small chance of stopping him, he had just awoken which meant that he may not be able to fully use his strength… but, this presence alone was making her soul cry from terror, her clay body was also shaking from it, if it's presence alone at this state was this strong, who would be able to guess how strong it would become after a while…

 

 

Kaede couldn't believe what she was feeling, in her long life she had felt and seen lot's of powerful Youkais and even felt Narakus evilness but this, this was something that made her old bones ache and tremble with an intense warning of danger… the figure may look human but it was clearly not a human, it wasn't a Youkai or a hanyou either… what was it? Also… what was Kagome doing standing besides it? She wasn't moving or even making an effort to move, as if she didn't want to move… could she have been charmed or put under a spell? No, she would be able to tell if it was a spell or a charm, there was none in the air around her… so, was she doing this of her own free will or was there something else she was missing?

 

 

As the light died away completely, the figure stood there with it's eyes closed, breathing deep and heavy breaths of air, after a few seconds of doing this, it started breathing normally again and thought: `Aaah… fresh air, pure, natural forest fresh air… I have missed this so much, the feel of this cool air penetrating my lungs and touching my skin, the feel of the earth underneath my feet and the feel of moonlight against my face… the warmth, the coldness, the sensation of being out here… I wonder, how did the air become so pure and clean anyway? It is also strangely quiet… wait a second, there are other scents out there… one belongs to the one who's scent is all over that girls, the interesting scent… one belongs to a… Youkai? They still exist? This one is pure, pure wolf Youkai… yet, how come I can already tell from his scent alone that he is a dense idiot? (Hehehe) There are also five more of them, three brutes with no special scent… just typical scent of blood and strength, then the two others, they are up there in the air, one is… I can't place it but it has something to do with fire (Kirara) and the other one is a… Kitsune? So… those little fur balls DID survive after all… this one though, hmm… interesting scent, I have to talk to that one too…'

 

 

Then the beings nose picked up other scents and kept thinking with it's eyes closed: `Hmmm… there are many humans as well, should have known, humans are still everywhere… *sigh* They're overpopulate this damn planet one day… but, this humans smell different than the ones I knew, two of them in air with those two Youkai, a strong male… but why is there heavy arousal all over him? It's a bit old but it's there, god, it covers over 8/10 of his scent! wow…(Guess who.) hmmm… but there is an even more stronger female right next to him, she has the scent of many battles on her and I can also smell lot's of pain and sadness… then the last ones, an old woman, yet not to be underestimated, she may not have much strength but I can sense her spiritual awareness, it's big… but what is with this last scent? It smells of… clay, earth and death… odd… yet, it is weakening… whoever it is, she must be dying… I have woken up into one interesting era, it is full of magic and all other kinds of powers…But why? Did something happen here that made the seal weaken?' then the being opened it's eyes, the first one to see them was Inuyasha, he saw them right away because they were also golden coloured, as by instinct they're gazes locked and both were silent… as if staring at a mirror.

 

 

Inuyasha as he stared at those eyes he felt something inside him telling him he knew that being… like a long, very distant part of his soul knew him… but that was cut short when his eyes landed on Kagome and as he saw her eyes, those glassy eyes, he woke up from his trance and shouted: “KAGOME!!” His voice woke everyone up from their trances and their minds began to work with their bodies again.

 

 

Kagome's body would not respond, only her mind: `That voice… Inuyasha! Than means that…I'm back in the past! This being… what have I done? I let it loose, yet I can't figure out how I did it… what was with those eyes? They weren't golden before! When I saw them flash open before, they were more… infernal like… and when I saw them, my body and seized responding to my orders and started to follow his voice, it is as if my mind is separated from my body… I can't do anything, except watch... just like all those times before, all I could do was watch as a spell kept me in place as everyone was fighting for their lives… Inuyasha… everyone… I'm so sorry, I can't do anything right anymore…' but despite her body being stolen from her mind, it did have one reaction to her thoughts, her eyes were now slowly dripping with tears…

 

 

Inuyasha smelt her tears and it was the one scent he hated more than anything, it always made him think he was responsible for them, that he had failed somehow… but now, he was just too focused onto this new guy, the [clothes] he wore and the [sword] he held in his hand were unlike anything he had ever seen before… they reminded him somewhat of Kagome's time line but were still too different… but before he got the chance to talk to it, one of the three Ogres shouted with a rumbling voice: “That is the rumoured [White priestess] next to that weirdo! The guardian of the Shikon no Tama!” Inuyasha thought right after hearing that: `Oh fuck… like they say in her time: the shit has hit the fan…' Kouga thought similar thoughts too, this was not good…

 

 

The being thought to itself surprised: `Shikon no Tama?! No… it can't be… she has it?! Well… now this is starting to make sense… hmm… if this is what think it is, I can't let any of those three have it!' Then he heard the other two ogres talking: “That is the human we were looking for?” “Man, this is our lucky day!” then they yelled at the exact same time as all three of them pounced towards Kagome and the being: “THE SHIKON NO TAMA IS OURS!!”

 

 

Inuyasha and Kouga tensed, all three of them going after her at once! Inuyasha was not going to let that happen so he jumped in front of the three and yelled: “No it is not! I'll kill you all right now!” while Kouga yelled: “I won't let any of you ugly shit-heads touch my woman!” and in a fraction of a second Inuyasha thought with his nerves twitching: `Goddamn it! Can't that fucking Wolf get over it already!?' and they both charged at the three ogres but they were still too worn out from their fight before so the three of them merely swung their weapons and hit both of them out of the way like nothing, Inuyasha landed with his side first to the grass around them, it hurt like hell while Kouga got slammed face first into the grass too, both of the groaned and got to their knees to see the ogres only a few seconds away from Kagome and the being, they would never make it in time so both shouted with all their might: “KAGOME!!”

 

 

Kirara started to dive in but it was too late, she would never make it in time! Shippo too was shouting for his `mothers' name with extreme panic in his voice just like Sango and Miroku were, none of them wanted to believe that this was it, one ogre is tough enough to deal with but three of them at once? That was nearly impossible for a human… Kagome was a strong Miko but in her exhausted spiritual state not to mention the fact she wasn't moving at all she had no hope of defeating them…

 

 

Kaede too was thinking similar thoughts but after looking at her sister she became confused, she wasn't showing worry but instead her eyes were tightly observing the situation, waiting for something to happen… and as Kaede looked back into the battle field, she saw what her sister was looking at so calmly…

 

 

Kagome could only scream in her mind for something to help her, the three ogres were after the Shikon no Tama and she had no means of defending herself, not to mention Inuyasha was down and so was Kouga, she did see Kirara coming towards them but it was too late… this is how it would end? She had survived Naraku and numerous other situations that were three times more lethal than this and now, this was how it would end, at the hands of three ogres… she wanted to cry out for her loves name, she wanted to move so she could at least make it his side but… it was useless… then the three ogres were right in front of her and they're weapons came crashing down at the exact same time, she was going to die, she knew it… `Inuyasha… goodbye… my love…' and then there was a blur…
