A/N: Just a one short announcement: I will change the word `chapter' into `episodes', since this is going to be epic, long and has a huge plot… I just thought it would make it more fitting. If you think it's bad, let me know.

Disclaimer: I don't own Inuyasha, you know that by now…

Episode10: Eyes of the beast, the Dark Battle Begins.

"The first bloods have been spilled, three have been killed… now, the beast faces a warrior group, the groups leader will makea face off with this beast but… what do they see in the eyes of the beast, bloodlust, death or something more?" - Unknown

The air around them was thick, thick with intensity, this was not going to be a fight unlike anything they've ever seen or felt, the intensity, anxiousness and the adrenalin from simply `feeling' the incoming fight made time stretch in their minds… seconds first felt like minutes, then like hours… all the way to the point where a second felt like a year… The outcome of this fight was pretty much anyone's guess at this point, the condition and status of both warriors was just so… even, the fight felt even on both sides, both held things that could make anything happen:

On Inuyasha it was his extreme level desire to protect Kagome that gave him the strength to do things even a Tai-Youkai (Great Demon, like his father and his half brother.) couldn't accomplish, plus his stubborn nature gave him stamina and lastly, his love for Kagome made his determination and motivation hard as steel.

But Kasaraki… (A.K.A `The being' for those who don't remember, LOL.) There was just something… `otherworldly' about him, his presence, his aura, his eyes… they all held something, something so much greater than anything they've ever seen or felt… they weren't sure whether it was evil or good, it was just… overwhelming… as if he held the very secrets about life and death itself or something equally great.

As Inuyasha kept staring at Kasaraki's golden eyes, feeling his mind sinking into the thoughts about how hard the battle would be, that even the smallest mistake would be unforgivable and costly, he thought: `Kami… this is the first time… I feel hesitant about fighting, I know I must help Kagome and by all that's worth living for I WILL help her but… the gaze of this guy, it is so… similar to my own, it is like… he too knows what pain is, the pain of being alone with no one to trust… yet at the same time, they hold so much determination that it's scary, as if there is nothing in this world that would sway him from whatever he's after… also, his battle stance is so focused, trained and flawless, he is not a brute strength type of a fighter, he's like Sesshoumaru… that bastard too fights with style and consideration rather than strength. The flawlessness in his stance is what scares me the most, he is not underestimating me like so many of my other opponents, even though I'm a hanyou and we have never met, he is not taking any chances with me… *Grins mentally* He really is a true warrior, no matter what his opponent is, he is not stupid enough to make a basic mistake of underestimating his opponents… honour over pride, carefulness over arrogance… lethal combination but… besides his stance there is one thing that gives me a shiver, his scent: It holds the scent of battle and death but… it also has the scent of… war and battlefields… meaning that while we have had only brief battles, he has been in battles that have lasted months, maybe years… *swallows* But… I cannot be frightened by this, I must fight, I must save Kagome, even if I have to die while trying it!'

Kasaraki was staring into this `Inuyasha's' eyes, the same gold colour in his eyes as his own was making him a little hesitant, he also thought: `Inuyasha, this might be a very interesting fight, too bad it is to the death… I would have loved to just sit down, have a friendly chat with him, make a few jokes, laugh a bit… but… that woman, `Kagome' is close to his heart… or more like she holds his heart, so he will never back down from this one. His eyes, they are so similar to mine, they hold so much anger and fear… yet, they hold determination and fire that makes me feel goose pumps… his aura is so un-predictable and fierce… he has the scent of many battles on him… I may have the advantage of experience but he has the advantage of motivation and determination, since he is not fighting for himself but for that girls sake, that is a powerful asset, the desire to fight in order to protect others can make a person invincible, it can make you surpass your own limits and aid you to reach levels that you normally cannot reach… I can't take chances with him, he is young even by Youkai standards but his aura and eyes tell me he has been through things that would make even an adult Youkai cry or scream… plus, his sword is no normal sword, I don't understand though, a sword and it's wielder normally have a [Battle Ki that flows in the same direction as it's owner]… but his sword's Ki is… [Flowing in the exact reversed direction]… Is ittrying to suppress something or…? Well, I will soon find out about it.'

The others kept staring at this stand of between the two characters, each with they're own thoughts, fears and hopes about this battle… Kagome hoped that this would not turn into a massacre or into something where someone would be hurt but… even she knew that was a useless wish, it was because of her that this happened and that truth hurt even more because it was the reason for all this, she cursed herself and her exhausted state… but, no matter how much she blamed herself, her faith in her beloved Inuyasha would not waver, no matter what…

Shippo was also angry, that Kasaraki character had hurt his `mother' and he wanted to make him pay but… all it needed was a single look into his eyes and all his motivation to attack just, disappeared like a fart in the wind, his eyes… those same golden eyes as that moron Inuyasha's… they were so fierce and looked as if they're were burning in the moonlight that covered the battlefield around them, his presence and aura he emitted made him feel as if his guts were ready to rip they're way out of him and run like hell, run to any place besides this place… all his instincts as a Kitsune (Fox) were telling him to run, that this opponent was too much for any of them to handle but… he refused to run, he refused to leave his `mothers' side and… even though Inuyasha was a moron, he didn't want to leave him either! Because without them, he would be alone again and… `I will not run away, I've always been the one to run away… all because I've always been weak and too young… no more, Inuyasha and the others fought Naraku and all those other bad people with they're lives, they've saved mine more than once and not once have I successfully repaid them… I am a part of this pack, maybe not the most useful one but… I refuse to run away anymore, I will face this guy and make him pay for what he did to my `mother'! I will… just… maybe not yet… since Inuyasha is on the case but if it looks like he'll lose I will jump in and… well I'll… I'll just have to improvise from there.'

Sango and Miroku were also thinking about similar things like Shippo, except they wanted to make sure that Kagome and Inuyasha would come out of this alive, since those two have been through so much and have done so much for all of them and yet have had nothing in return… now, it was they're time to make sure that they would get the one thing both have been needing and wanting for 4 years: Each other, that was all they had ever wanted… yet something always came in between them, Shikon no Tama, Kikyo, Naraku, Kouga and now… this guy, Kasaraki… yet, none of them really knew anything about this Kasaraki fellow, he doesn't give out the feeling of `evil' like Naraku but more like… a feeling of `absolute' that gave them a gut reaction from they're deepest instincts, as if telling them that he was too much for them, yet, they had to try… this was a duel between Inuyasha and Kasaraki but if it looked like things would go from bad to worse, they would jump in to help… they were a pack after all and members of the pack don't abandon one another…

Kouga was simply put, mesmerized and rooted to his spot, he was still holding Kagome over his shoulder but for the first time ever, he wasn't paying any attention to `his woman' but instead his gaze was locked onto the battle field in front of him and for the first time, he saw that dog shit was… looking rather cool… he was staring at the face of that… monster and didn't flinch or even shake, just kept staring at it straight into the eyes, ready to fight… why? Doesn't that dog shit feel the immense dangerous feeling that this `Kasaraki' guy emits? Why doesn't he feel any fear? Kouga was a full blooded Youkai and the prince of a large wolf tribe and even he couldn't look that guy into the eyes without feeling his body tremble and yet… this hanyou was looking at him straight into the eyes and didn't feel anything?! How…? What would make him challenge a monstrous, otherworldly creature like that into a duel without a second thought?! Was it because…? Was it because of…Kagome? Was he willing to risk his life against impossible odds just to save her? Why? He was sure that Inuyasha had used some kind of spell to make Kagome fall for him but… as he quickly glanced at Kagome's eyes, even though they were lifeless and glassy… he could still see the un-wavering faith and trust for the hanyou… for the first time, he really thought that maybe… maybe she really was… no, he couldn't accept that, no matter what, he wouldn't accept that! For a brief moment he thought about just running away with Kagome but… if he ran while a hanyou was facing an opponent that he couldn't even lock eyes with, he would be a laughing stock… he had to stay and see this, to the very end…

Kikyo and Kaede were still focusing to find an opening to fire the arrow, they were experienced with bows so they could hold an arrow for an hour if needed… but the waiting was tormenting because of the immense amount of battle Ki they could feel swirling all over the battlefield… which made Kikyo think: `By the gods… the battle Ki Kasaraki and Inuyasha emit… it makes my vision blur slightly, it's flawless, there is no opening in it… if I were to fire now, Kasaraki would notice it and block it… I need more time, just a little more time, enough to see the opening to attack, I only have one chance to stop him and I must make it count… in the case my arrow does not kill him, I pray that it will at least damage him enough so that Inuyasha and the others can finish him off… this has to be, the most intense waiting I've ever experienced… gods, I pray to you now, help me do this, for the sake of this world… for the sake of Kagome and Inuyasha…'

As the two kept staring at one another, the silence was broken only by the slight breezes of wind that kept blowing through the field, as if the whole world was silent and waiting… then it was broken when Kasaraki asked: "Inuyasha… tell me, what is the name of that sword? It is not an ordinary sword… I can feel it…" Inuyasha smirked and said: "It's called Tetsusaiga… it is a… memento from my father…" Kasaraki nodded and said: "Tetsusaiga… nice name, sounds powerful… This is my sword, Mormegail, it is my… partner, so to say… I wonder, which one will be stronger, your Tetsusaiga or my Mormegail? Your fathers memento or my partner?" Inuyasha shrugged and said: "It makes no difference, whether your sword is stronger or no… since even if I have to use my bear teeth, I will kill you and release Kagome." Kasaraki raised an eye brow and replied: "Well said… since you impress me young warrior, i will grant you one request, name it…" Inuyasha was surprised but said shortly after: "Only one thing, do not harm the other members of my pack, even if I lose…" Everyone looked at him a bit surprised, only a true pack leader would say something like that… to this Kasaraki merely said: "Agreed, I will not hurt them but I cannot say the same about you though…" Both smirked but then they're faces went serious and the grips on they're swords hardened… they're eyes became hard like steel and they're muscles tensed, they're legs took poses that would let them attack at full speed and they could and hear each other's heartbeats… the silence was tense…

The wind stopped…

They're breathing stopped…

They're hearts felt silent…

Then, only two things were heard…

Two loud battle cries… followed by a clash of two enormous swords…

The lighting and energy which formed from the clash blinded them all for a second…

The Dark Battle had begun, a true battle to the death… who shall live…? Who shall die…?

To be continued…

Next time on Dark Soul, White Heart:

"Dark Battle, Tetsusaiga VS Mormegail."

- Zelix, with a bow.

[Battle Ki]: I just came up with this one, `Battle Ki' is what a warrior emits when getting ready to fight, basically it's the `battle aura' or `warriors spirit' that only experienced and seasoned warriors emit, the bigger the aura, the more powerful the opponent, so it's basically showing they're experience and willpower in battle.

[Same direction flowing Ki and Reversed Ki]: This is some more shit I came up with, basically, when a warrior grasps his/her weapon and if they're experienced or that weapon is literally `made for them', then they're battle Ki will flow through the weapon, making them work as one and eventually the weapon gains it's own kind `Ki' or `Soul', that is what happens when the weapon and it's owner share the same flow of Ki, if facing someone like that in combat, you would most certainly lose. Then there is a rare phenomena called `reversed Ki', which means that while the weapons owners Ki flows out to attack the opponent, the weapons Ki flows Inwards to attack or suppress something inside the owner, such as unwanted bloodlust or an unquenchable thirst for battle… but in this case it's Inuyasha's demon blood from going berserk so he won't go into Full demon mode, which you might have guessed already. Hope that made any sense.
