The group sat around the fire in silence. Miroku cleared his throat and began to talk.
“Well Kagome- sama, why don't you explain exactly what happened so we all can get a better understanding of this situation” he said to her. She looked at him then to Sango who nodded her head in agreement, then she looked to Inuyasha who was as far away from her as possible, sitting against a tree bangs over his eye.
“Well, I almost died and I was with this woman, she said she was a higher being and that I had a choice. I could've been a higher being or I could go back as a hanyou, I didn't want to leave you guys and we still had the mission to complete and then there's my family and….” She was interpreted by an angry yell from Inuyasha.
“HOW COULD YOU'VE BEEN SO STUPID?!?!?!?!” Kagome winced at the statement and the rest of the group stared at him.
“I….I-I just…..” she started quietly. But instead of letting her finish Inuyasha turned from the camp and start to walk away.
She stared at his retreating back and felt tears gather in her eyes. She pulled her knees to her chest and wrapped her arms around them and started to cry. Sango ran over to her and started to soothingly rub her back.
“He's probably just in shock Kagome he'll come back and everything will be fine” Miroku said to try and comfort her.
She looked at him and then in the direction that Inuyasha went off in. She gracefully got up and walked that way, leaving the others behind and confused.
She followed his scent, the scent that only could be his, that completely filled her senses and made her warm inside. Deeper and deeper into the forest she walked following her nose. She found herself near a cliff with a solitary tree on it, and there in the tree, on the highest branch sat Inuyasha looking at the full moon. He knew she was there and even though it seemed to hurt him he ignored her.
She walked to the tree and jumped from branch to branch until she was on the same one as Inuyasha. She sat down next to him and looked at the moon. They sat like that for a long time in complete silence. That is until Kagome couldn't take it anymore.
“Do you hate me now?” she asked him quietly unable to make herself to look at him. Her question only met silence.
“I…I di -didn't…want to leave. I...” she stumbled with her words trying to say something to make Inuyasha talk to her again, look at her even.
Still silence.
“Say something you baka. Say anything to me. Please Inuyasha” she yelled. She pleaded him to say something to her…anything, anything at all to end the unbearable silence.
Still he said nothing.
Tear started to overflow in her forest green eyes. Her bottom lip started to quiver. “Why do you hate me now, what is wrong, with me?” she asked him barely above a whisper.
“I don't hate you” he answered her in a whisper barely audible.
“Then why, why are you acting like this?” she asked him.
That question he didn't entertain, for he wasn't quite sure himself.
“Are you still Kagome…my Kagome?” he asked her this time staring at her his golden amber eyes locked on her forest green ones.
“Of course I'm still Kagome” she paused “your Kagome.”
And with that he pulled her into his arms wrapping her still semi-petite form around her body, it being covered with the sleeves of his fire- rat robe.
They stayed like that for a long time, wrapped in the security that they gave to one another. His fingers running though her silky hair, while she laid her head to his chest.
Inuyasha was the first to break the silence.
“Why did you do it, why did u condemn yourself to the life of a hanyou?” he asked her.
“I wanted to be here with the others and my family” she then looked up into his eyes, “and with you” she smiled at him.
“But humans will now hate you, youkai will hate you. You'll never have a home”
She laughed quietly at his statement. “I don't care. Besides I have you, my home is where you are.” She then scrunched up her nose and looked at him.
“What? Did you want me to die or something” she pouted at him.
“No! Of course not but…”
She interrupted him. “There was no other way this was my choice. My only choice, do you understand that?”
“Keh” was his only reply. Kagome giggled.
“Let's go back before the others start to worry.” She gracefully jumped down from the branch and landed on the ground, with a soft thump Inuyasha was right next to her.
“So we're going to have to start training you, unless you want to be a weak, defenseless, excuse for a hanyou.” Inuyasha said to her as they started walking back to camp.
“Your gonna train me, really really?” she looked up at him with cute puppy dog eyes that made him melt on the spot.
He shook his head. “Of course, stupid wench. Then we should go see your family and see how they take the changes.”
Kagome froze. She hadn't thought about what her family might say about her becoming a hanyou. She stared at her hands…well claws, and then turned around to look behind her at her tail. And with that she let out a groan.
Inuyasha cocked his head to the side and blinked at her in confusion.
