Chapter 2

Arriving into the village, Inuyasha quickly carried Kagome into Kaede’s hut and laid her down on the mat. “What is wrong with Lady Kagome?” Kaede asked getting down next to the pale unconscious girl. “She was attacked by a panther youkai and fell into the river!” Shippo exclaimed. Kaede leaned forward and placed her hand upon Kagome’s head only to pull it back quickly. “She is terribly warm. Inuyasha, run to the river, fill the bucket up and bring it back. We need to break her fever and quickly!” Inuyasha nodded and grabbed the bucket rushing out of the hut towards the river. “Is there anything we can do Kaede-sama?” Miroku asked. Kaede looked up to him and nodded. “Yes I need for ye to gather some of my herbs from the garden so that I can make Kagome-sama a medicine.”

Miroku nodded and left the hut followed by Sango. “Is there anything I can do?” the small kitsune asked. Kaede sighed. “No Shippo-chan, but you can pray that we are not too late in getting Kagome-sama the medicine in time.”

Inuyasha returned a short time later with the bucket filled with water and placed it down next to Kaede. Kaede dipped a cloth into it and wrung it out before placing it on Kagome’s forehead. “Now we wait for her to come to so I can give her the herbs,” Kaede mumbled, turning back to her duties of crushing up the leaves that Miroku and Sango had brought. Inuyasha walked over and sat on the other side of Kagome and gazed down at her worriedly. Her face was no longer pale, but red and flushed from the fever. ‘I know you can pull through Kagome. Damn it...you better!’ Inuyasha thought angrily to himself.

“Uhhh.” Kagome moaned and slowly opened her eyes. Her head was pounding and she was extremely hot. “Where...Where am I?” she asked hoarsely. She heard some shuffling beside her, but her head hurt too much to turn and see who it was. “You’re in Kaede’s hut. We brought you here after the panther demon attacked you.” Kagome coughed and slowly began to sit up only to be pushed back down by a pair of strong hands. “Stay down and rest so that you can get your strength back,”Inuyasha commanded. Kagome sighed and coughed again. Her throat felt like it was on fire. “Inuyasha. Where are the others?” she questioned. “Outside preparing dinner. Here; Kaede said to give you this once you awakened.”

Kagome sat up slightly and allowed Inuyasha to place the bowl to her lips and pour the liquid in. Upon the bitter taste, Kagome’s face scrunched up, but she swallowed the liquid none the less. “Uck!! That tastes terrible!!” she complained. “Keh! It’ll help you get better wench so ignore the taste.” Kagome frowned at him and held her breath as she drank down the rest of the liquid. Her eyes closed, but she remained awake. “How long was I out?” “About 3 days.” Kagome’s eyes widened. ‘Three days?? I must really be sick, ’ she thought sadly to herself.

Just then the flap to the hut opened and Kaede entered. “How are ye doing Kagome-sama?” she asked.

“Terrible. It’s really hot in here.”

 Kaede and Inuyasha looked at eachother in shock for it was supposedly one of the coldest nights ever in the feudal era. “It seems as if ye’s fever still has not broken. Perhaps there is another herb I can brew that can help ye’s illness,” Kaede replied as she turned to leave the hut. At the thought of drinking anymore of that disgusting paste, Kagome stopped Kaede. “Wait Kaede-sama. There’s this medicine in my time that is especially made for my illness.”

 Kaede looked away from her in thought before turning back to her.

“Alright then. Ye and Inuyasha can travel back to your time then and ye can return when ye illness has faltered.” Inuyasha nodded then gathered Kagome, blanket and all, into his arms and walked from the hut. “Where are you taking Kagome-sama?” Miroku asked. “I’m taking her to her time to get her some damn medicine so she can get better. We will return once her illness is gone.” Without another word, he took off in a flash into his forest towards the bone eaters well.

When it came into view, Inuyasha bounded into the air and leapt inside. The familiar bluish light that they had become accustomed to for the last 4 years surrounded them, then his feet landed onto the ground of the modern era well. He quickly jumped out of the well and carried Kagome towards her house in the shrine. Inuyasha roughly kicked the door causing Kagome to gasp. “Inuyasha!! It’s about three o’clock in the morning. Mom and everyone are probably asleep!!” Inuyasha frowned. “Well the need to wake their asses up so I can get you out of this damn cold before you’re ass gets any sicker.” Kagome frowned. ‘Oh you just wait until you put me down you jerk.’

The door suddenly opened and Mrs. Higurashi stood dressed in a pink terry robe and a shocked expression on her face. “Inuyasha? Kagome? What are you doing back and at this time of night?” Inuyasha pushed his way into the house causing Kagome to scowl more and took her up the stairs and into her bedroom. “Inuyasha?” Mrs. Higurashi asked walking into Kagome’s room behind him. “Kagome got sick after falling into the river while we were fighting a panther youkai. She said something about she had a medication here that can break her fever and stuff.” Mrs. Higurashi nodded and stepped out of the room. She barely made it down the hallway when she heard her daughter yell ‘Oswari’ then a loud crash and Inuyasha groaning. ‘I don’t even want to know,’ she thought with a chuckle and walked into her room to retrieve the cold medicine.

Meanwhile in Kagome’s room, Inuyasha was recovering from being ‘sat’ as Kagome sat in her bed with her arms folded. “What the hell was that for?!!” he growled as he sat up on all fours. “THAT was for being rude to my mother!” she yelled. Inuyasha growled and got his feet. “I said I was tryna get you out of the cold!” “Well you didn’t have to be so rude about it!!” “Keh, whatever,” Inuyasha mumbled as Mrs. Higurashi entered the room carrying a spoon and a bottle full of some liquid that was foreign to him.

“Here you go Kagome,” she said sitting down on the bed next to her daughter and handing her the spoon and bottle. “Thanks mom, you’re the best,” Kagome said taking them and pouring some of the liquid onto the spoon. Inuyasha’s nose was soon filled with the scent of mint as she took two spoon fulls and handed the spoon and bottle back to her mother. “Alright honey. I’ll let you get to sleep because that medicine is going to make you extremely drowsy after awhile.” Mrs. Higurashi then got up from the bed and bid them both goodnight before going into her own room and closing the door.

Kagome yawned and stretched her arms above her. Guessing the medicine was starting to take effect already she started to lay down when she felt movement on her bed and then someone lay down on the opposite side of her. She opened her eyes and saw Inuyasha laying down next to her facing her way. “What do you think you’re doing?” Kagome asked. “I’m laying down with you so that I can give you some warmth with my body... now lay down,” Inuyasha said forcing her down next to him and wrapping his arms around her waist. Kagome blushed against her flushed skin and placed her hands against his chest. ‘Oh my! His chest is really solid,’ she thought blushing deeper.

She then took a chance to look into Inuyasha’s face and found his eyes closed and his eyebrows furrowed in a frown. ‘He’s always so tense. I wonder what’s really on his mind. Especially if its anything about Kikyou.’ Kagome covered her mouth as another yawn escaped her, but then closed her eyes and laid her head against Inuyasha’s chest nestling into his warmth.

Inuyasha tensed as he felt Kagome lay against him, but relaxed when her breathing became even signaling that she was asleep. He slowly opened his eyes and gazed across the room staring at the far wall as he began to think. ‘This is wrong. I love Kikyou and yet in still I’m wrapped in anothers arms. Really neither one of them deserve a worthless hanyou like me, but I promised Kikyou I would go to hell with her and a youkai, even half youkai, always keeps his promise......but what about Kagome? I don’t want to hurt her.’

Sighing irritably Inuyasha closed eyes and unwelcomely accepted the sleep.

The sun filtered the room a short time later signaling the morning had finally arrived. Sometime during their slumber, the couple had switched positions so now Inuyasha laid flat on his back and Kagome’s body draped over his with her head laying on his chest just below his chin. Inuyasha’s long silver hair splayed across the bed while Kagome’s long raven hair draped over them as if it were another blanket. Mrs. Higurashi lightly tapped on the door, but neither of them stirred as they slept in a peacefully. Knowing that they probably were, Mrs. Higurashi opened the door and stepped into Kagome’s room. Upon seeing how the two were sleeping a blush crept upon her cheeks and she placed her hand to her mouth to hold back a giggle.

Without disturbing them, she grabbed Kagome’s clothes basket, that held her used laundry, and quietly exited the room closing the door.

Not shortly after her mother left Kagome sighed and slowly opened her eyes. She had the most weirdest dream about herself and Inuyasha and as visions of the dream resurfaced, she blushed and tried to sit up; she was startled to find that she couldn’t. ‘What’s going on?’ she thought. It wasn’t until she realized that a pair of strong arms were wrapped around her waist and she was being lifted up and down by the rising of a chest did she register where she was.

‘How the hell did we end up like this?’ she questioned herself. Her thoughts were suddenly interrupted as the rising seemed to stop as Inuyasha’s body tensed and his arms wrapped tighter around her waist. She turned her head and looked into Inuyasha’s face and found him still asleep. Before she could question his motives, she was suddenly flipped onto her back with Inuyasha on top of her nearly crushing her. ‘What’s going on?’ she thought. Her eyes widened and she blushed a Inuyasha moved her legs apart with his knees and positioned him self between her legs. Kagome went really still afraid of what he was capable of in his sleepwalking state.

She gasped as she felt him nuzzle the side of her neck with his nose and grinded his pelvic bone into her. ‘Oh kami!’ She yelped silently as he nipped the side of her neck suckling on it. It took everything in Kagome’s power to keep from moaning as she felt his hard erection pushed against her covered opening. ‘Inuyasha please wake up please—,’ she was cut off as he began mumbling to himself.

“Kikyou.”

 Kagome stiffened and her stature soon changed. He called out Kikyou’s name. She couldn’t believe it. All these things he was doing to her body he dreamt he was doing to Kikyou, not her. Tears suddenly sprang to Kagome’s eyes and she went totally limp. Inuyasha must have sensed the change in her body and slowly he began to come to. “Kagome?” he asked sitting up and looking down at her. Kagome turned her head, refusing to look at him as the tears spilled from the corners of her eyes. “Shit!! Kagome... oh kami...did I hurt you?” he almost begged. Kagome shook her head still refusing to look at him.

“Then why are you crying?”

Her eyes widened slightly. She hadn’t realized until now that she was indeed crying. “No Inuyasha. You didn’t hurt me...physically anyway.” Inuyasha sighed somewhat in relief, but realized how she had sarcastically said ‘physically’. “What do you mean I didn’t hurt you physically?” Kagome turned her gaze to him and smiled sadly. “You...You just called out Kikyou’s name while you were asleep. That’s all.” She wasn’t going to tell him about him touching her because if he knew that she knew he had an erotic dream about Kikyou, she knew he would instantly distance himself from her.

Inuyasha looked away from her and down to the bed in shame. He knew. He knew that he had been having a dream about Kikyou, but he didn’t realize he was acting his dream out on Kagome. Looking back at her his eyes suddenly became blank and cold. “I’ve got to go,” he said getting up from her and the bed. “Where are you going?” Kagome asked. “I’m returning to the feudal era, but I’ll return before sunset to see how you are doin’,” he said walking to her window and opening it. He then jumped out into the tree next to Kagome’s window and raced off towards the bone eaters well.

Kagome raced to the window watching him as he bounded into the well house and jumped into the well. She no longer tried to hold back her sobs and tears letting the go freely as she laid her head down upon the sill and cried into her folded arms. She was a fool! A fool to believe that he loved her and not Kikyou. A fool to even think he saw her as anything other than a friend and shikon detector. How could she have been so dumb.

She didn’t know how long she sat crying at the window, but it was interrupted by her mother calling her name. “Kagome! Telephone!” Kagome sniffled and slowly got up from the sill and walked to where her telephone sat on the night stand near her bed. “Hello?” she winced. ‘Uh I sound terrible!’

“Kagome? It’s Eri. Are you okay?”

Kagome sighed. “No.”

“Do you want some company?”

Kagome thought it over and decided who better to confide in but her 3 best friends Eri, Ayumi, and Yuka when she was down. “Yeah. Can you bring Yuka and Ayumi too?” “Will do. We’ll see you in a little while Kagome.” “Alright, bye.” “Bye.” Kagome placed the phone back on the cradle and laid down on her bed burying her face in the pillow.

“Kagome! You’re friends are here!” Kagome awoke with a start and got up from the bed quickly made her way towards her wall mirror to straighten out her hair, then walked out of her room to greet her friends. “Hey guys,” she said sleepily. “Oh Kagome!” Ayumi exclaimed and embraced her friend. The others soon followed and embraced her. “Come on. Lets go in your room because I’m sure we have a lot to talk about.” Kagome nodded and then walked up the stairs followed by her friends.

Once they were in Kagome’s room Kagome sat down upon the bed with Eri sitting on the floor, Ayumi at her desk, and Yuka sitting next to her on the bed. “Kagome you look terrible. Is it the mumps?” Ayumi asked. Kagome laughed nervously. ‘Darn Gramps and his stories.” “No, no! Those are all gone. Something else is troubling me,” she said saying the last part quietly. “Is there anything we can do?” Yuka asked placing a hand on her shoulder. “No...I don’t think so.” “Is it that two timing boyfriend of yours again?” Eri asked getting on her knees next to her.

“Something like that.”

Back in the fedual era Inuyasha ran. He didn’t care where he was going nor where he ended up he just needed to run. ‘Damn it. I can’t believe I touched Kagome while I was thinking of Kikyou. I’m such a fool.’ A growl erupted deep within him and he quickened his pace.

Soon he arrived to where the river ended and a large waterfall stood. “What am I gonna do? I mean I love Kikyou, but then...I don’t want to hurt Kagome.”

“Seems like you’re in a pickle huh hanyou?”

 Inuyasha turned around and flexed his claws as a woman emerged from some near by bushes. “Who the hell are you?” he growled. She was beautiful. Her hair was silver like his but as long as Sesshomaru’s and she wore a flowing white kimono with strange black diamond necklace around her neck. And had it not been for the evil aura she emitted he would have probably thought something positive of her. But not only could he sense the evil, she smelled of youkai as well. “What the fuck do you want?” he snarled. She smirked and her silver eyes shimmered. “Testy aren’t we hanyou? You can put down your claws, I mean you no harm.”

Inuyasha slowly withdrew his claws, but continued to watch her with a keen and suspicious eye. Her smirk broadened, revealing a pair of sharp fangs, as she walked closer towards him. “You are a very handsome hanyou, but your brother he seems to be of greater beauty; probably because he is the eldest. You both are truely Inu-taisho’s sons. Very handsome youkai,” she said placing her hand onto his chest. Inuyasha growled lowly in his chest and knocked her hand away. “What do you want? And how do you know about my father and my bastard ass brother?” he asked with more warning.

“That is not important. What is important is that you have a problem,” she replied as she began to slowly circle him as if she was the predator and he was the prey. “What do you mean?” he asked arching an eyebrow. She stopped in front of him again and as he gazed into her cold eyes he couldn’t help the shiver that raced up his spine. “I know that you are troubled by two women and do not know which one to choose. I can help you with that choice,” she said placing a hand to his cheek and moving so close their lips were mere inches apart.

“How can you help me?” She looked up into his eyes for a moment before she pressed her lips to his. Inuyasha was so taken aback by it that he didn’t kiss her back or pull away. When she removed her lips she smirked again and moved them next to his ear at the top of his head. “By making you a full fledge youkai.”
