Inu Yasha backed up against the shelves behind the bar. "You wouldn't dare!"

Kagome's wicked grin spread across her lips, an evil glint in her eye. "I damn sure as hell would."

He flattened himself up against the shelves as much as he could stand. Inu Yasha growled as the cuts hit the cold metal. "Don't, Kagome," he snapped.

Ryo watched in fascination. "You know, Inu, it might help those cuts if she did pour it on your back," he suggested.

The girl grinned wickedly and flashed a wink at him. "Yea, Inu Yasha. It would." She swirled the liquor around a bit in the bottle, moving closer towards him.

Inu Yasha cringed at the thought of it. He knew it would clean the wounds and kill any kind of infection, but it would burn like hell. He wrinkled his nose before sitting down on the floor, turning his back to her. "Do it, and do it quick, before I change my mind."

Kagome quickly moved behind him and trickled the whiskey over the cuts on his back then leapt back out of the way.

Liquid fire is what it felt like running down his back. He reached out and grabbed a hold of the shelf and clenched it so tightly that his knuckles turned white. He threw back his head and yelled as loud as he could "GOD DAMN, THAT BURNS LIKE HELL!!!"

Flinching at his scream, Kagome quickly set down the whiskey bottle and grabbed up a large towel. She flipped the sink on and ran icy water till she filled the towel's capacity, then walked over to Inu Yasha. She wrung out the towel, trickling the frosty liquid down his back, then flung the towel out straight and laid it across his back.

Inu Yasha leaned forward to rest his forehead against the wall. "Thank you..." he muttered.

Ryo watched them. "I'm sorry it hurt so, Inu," he said.

The girl just nodded and lowered herself to sit beside him. "It's no problem," she said quietly as she gave Ryo a timid smile.

Ryo returned the smile. "He should take some anti-inflammatory medication so the cuts don't swell," he said as he leaned his elbows onto the bar and rest his chin in his hands.

Kagome nodded again before removing the towel to examine the welts again. She reached out a hand and timidly traced one of the welts, touching it as lightly as a butterfly kiss. She felt tears sting at the back of her eyes as she stared at the crisscrossing marks on his back. He had received those because of her. Pulling away, she stood up and tossed the towel into the sink and then strode out of the club, her hair falling over her face as she walked brusquely past Soryo.

Soryo sighed. "I hope she will understand why I did this." His eyes glanced over to the bar where Inu Yasha was now standing and talking to Ryo. "But what I can't understand, Kouga, is how you're not angry at all of this."

Kouga stiffened a moment as he looked at his beloved Inu Yasha. "I am angry, but I'm lucky to have Inu right now, and I don't want to risk losing him," he said quietly.

Kouga left Soryo's side and walked over to Inu Yasha. "Inu, do you feel any better, what so ever?"

Inu Yasha raised a questioning brow at his lover. "No, I scream for the fuck of it," he snapped.

Kouga frowned. "I was being serious, Inu."

The younger man sighed. "I will be fine, don't worry."

Kagome swung into the backseat of the car. She reached behind her and pulled her CD player out of the back window and flipped it on.

Nazuna slid in beside her, and gave her a quiet look. She knew what had gone on, and she was struggling with her own feelings. The only reason her brother had gotten hurt so badly was because of this girl, but he was at fault as well. Warring emotions crossed her face and she sighed trying to figure out what to say to the girl.

Sango looked up at Miroku with dark eyes. Her gaze drifted over to the car where Nazuna was sitting with her best friend since middle school. A sigh erupted from her lips and she ran a hand through her hair. This was not turning out to be what she had originally anticipated for the night.

Miroku reached over and put an arm around Sango's shoulders. "It's going to be ok, Inu took his punishment, and nothing will happen to Kagome."

Sango shook her head. "It wasn't supposed to turn out like this at all..." she murmured.

Miroku nodded in agreement. "No, it wasn't, but it did, and there's nothing we can do to change it." He sighed. "Inu is tough, he will be ok, but Kagome, on the other hand, is the one I am worried about."

The girl looked up at him. "What do you mean?"

"She seems out of it; maybe it's what happened with Hojo, maybe it's from Inu fighting with Sesshoumaru, and getting hurt, or maybe its something else." He sighed. "Her aura just isn't right."

She nodded and looked down. "Or maybe it's all adding up and she's getting ready to snap," she whispered quietly.

Miroku gave her shoulders a squeeze. "I hope not." His eyes moved over to the car. "Maybe you should check on her."

Sango nodded and walked towards the car. She slid into the middle of the front seat of the car. Kagome's music was so loud that it sounded like a mini boom box was sitting somewhere in the car. Sango looked at Nazuna, who gave her nothing but a bland expression. Sango watched Kagome's troubled face grow darker and darker as every second passed. As Sango's eyes fell from Kagome's face, they rested on her hands in her lap. The sight she saw there made a scowl like none other settle on her face.

Back when Sango first met Kagome, she had been a cutter. And not one of those pussy ass cutters who scratch themselves a few times for attention. Kagome's arms had been a mesh work of cuts. Old ones, new ones, deep ones, shallow ones, long ones, short ones, straight ones, curved ones, ones that spelled words.

Sango had noticed her nervous habit within the first week she had known the girl. When ever she got nervous or something stressful was worrying her, she would run her thumb over her wrist repeatedly. More often than not, stroking a deep cut that had recently been placed there.

And that was the same nervous habit that she saw Kagome repeating at this very moment.

Miroku walked back into the club his eyes falling on Soryo bandaging Inu Yasha's back. He sighed and walked over to the bar where the men were. "So, is he gonna live?" he asked Ryo sarcastically.

Ryo smiled brightly as he watched his mate tending to Inu Yasha. "I do believe he will, Miroku."

Kouga sat by Ryo nursing a beer and sulking as he watched Soryo tie off the end of the bandages.

Sango came barging into the club, heading straight for Miroku. "Miroku, we need to leave."

Miroku spun around on his heels. "What's wrong Sango?" he asked as the other men turned to look at her.

She shook her head. "It's long, involved, and complicated, and right now, I don't have enough time in the world to explain it to you. I just need to get Kagome home and get her to sleep. Hopefully if she gets a good night's rest, whatever is bothering her with lighten up, but currently, that doesn't look to probable."

Inu Yasha's face drew into a frown. "What's wrong with Kagome?"

Soryo sighed and motioned for Ryo to get ready to leave. "We will see you again, but I think it is time for us to go home," he said. Ryo pouted a bit but gathered his things so they could leave. Soryo walked around the bar and took Ryo's hand.

"I will see you later, Inu, and maybe next time we can play," Ryo said with a wink as he walked out the door with Soryo.

Sango shook her head again and just turned to go back to the car. The sooner Kagome was back into a ration state of mind, the better. Sango wasn't entirely sure what was bothering her, but it had to be bad.

Kouga tossed Inu Yasha his shirt. "Put that on, and we will get Kagome home," he said. The young man pulled on his shirt and buttoned it half way and bounded around the bar. Miroku followed the couple out the door and made sure the door was locked before all three took off in a dead run to the car.

Kagome sat in the backseat, stewing through her thoughts. If she brought this much pain to Inu Yasha, what would happen when Mayu grew up? She had already killed the girl's father. Sure, he was an asshole beyond comparison, but he was her Dad. And Souta and Shippou? The boys had already lost so much, what would happen if she stuck around much longer? She was causing so much pain already...

Inu Yasha jerked the back right side passenger door open and peered inside as Kouga got into the drivers seat and Miroku got into the front passenger seat.

"Kagome ..." he whispered. Inu Yasha touched her arm, trying to snap her out of the daze.

The girl jumped at Inu Yasha's touch. She yanked her head phones off, looking around wide eyed. "What? What's wrong?" she asked anxiously.

He jerked his hand back. "Are you ok?" Inu Yasha asked a little shocked.

She blinked and scowled. "I'm fine," she grumbled and then turned back to the window, slipping her headphones back on.

Inu Yasha nudged her shoulder signaling for her to mover over so he could sit down.

The girl grunted and shifted, forcing Nazuna back up against the door. As her sleeve fell back from her arm, a red mark was seen on her wrist. The faint scars were there but the main reason for the color came from her compulsive motions, and her pressing her nail harder and hard against her skin, rubbing the flesh raw.

Inu Yasha sat down next to her and closed the door. He looked over and grabbed her hand and forcing her to stop. "Oh no, I don't think so," he said in warning. "Kouga lets go on home." Kouga nodded and drove out of the parking lot. Inu Yasha held her hand tight, keeping her from being able to move it.

Kagome turned to look at him incredulously. She yanked her headphones off and ripped her hands out of his grasp. "What the hell are you doing?" she snapped.

Inu Yasha glared at her. "You don't think I know what those scars are from?!" he snapped back. "Do I look like that big of an idiot?!"

Miroku flinched at the tone of his friend's voice and grabbed Sango's hand, giving it a squeeze.

Kagome's eyes widened in a sort of shock. Her eyes fell back to her arms and she yanked her sleeves down. The scowl on her face appeared to deepen considerably. "What the hell are you staring at my arms for?" she asked irritably.

"You're rubbing them constantly, it caught my eye," he retorted as he grabbed her arm and pulled back the sleeve to get a good look.

The girl balked and yelped in protest as scars that she had covered with a few layers of makeup were uncovered. Due to the cover-up, they were faint, but a few were dark enough to show how deep they were. There were so many scars on her arms that you couldn't tell where one ended and the next began.

Inu Yasha's eyes widened. "Kagome, I never noticed these before," he said in shock as he took a finger and ran them over the scars.

Kagome scowled and looked up at him unhappily. "That's because I usually put three tons of make up on them so you can't see them."

He scowled. "Those looked like they were pretty deep; you shouldn't cut up your arms like that."

Sango looked over her shoulder at Inu Yasha and lifted a brow skeptically. Kagome stared at him for a few seconds, then yanked her arm out of Inu Yasha's grasp and tugged the headphones onto her head, trying her damnedest to ignore him.

Inu Yasha reached up and yanked the head phone from her head. "Listen to me, damn it!" he barked out at her.

Kouga glanced at them, using the review mirror. "Inu Yasha, I think we have had enough of your mouth tonight," he snapped out at the young man in the back. Miroku blinked and looked over to Kouga. He had never heard him snap at Inu Yasha like that before.

Inu Yasha calmed down and stared out the window of the car watching the lights of other cars pass by.

Sango looked over her shoulder at Kagome who's breathing at become slow deliberate breaths. Her eyes snapped between Kouga and Inu Yasha. Her control was slipping; Sango could see it in the way her eyes were getting a look like you would see in a wild animal's when it was caught in a trap.

Sango's scowl deepened when she heard an irritated sigh come from Nazuna in the back. Kagome's agitation wasn't going down and the tension in the car was getting higher by the minute.

Miroku nudged Sango with his elbow. "Hey Sango, how about turning on some music?" he said in hopes it would break up the tension.

The girl nodded and reached up, flipping on the radio. The entire car filled with some hard rock that sent electric pulses through Kagome's body. Her eyes fell on her arms and she felt herself falling deeper and deeper into her memories.

Inu Yasha tapped his foot to the music as the car sped towards home. He looked over at Kagome. "Kagome, why don't you sing a song for all of us?"

Kagome looked up at him, and then frowned. "I don't have a guitar."

He gave her an odd look. "Sing along with the radio, Miss Know It All."

She wrinkled her nose at him and leaned up to get Sango to put in a CD. After a bit of fiddling with the buttons and tracks, Evanescence came pouring out over the speaker system. A small smile came over Kagome's face and she settled back against her seat. It was Taking Over Me, one of her favorite songs.

"You don't remember me, but I remember you.

I lie awake and try so hard not to think of you.

But who can decide what they dream,

And dream I do…"

The words passed her lips as she closed her eyes and leaned her head back a bit letting her body absorb the music.

Inu Yasha looked physically relieved as he watched her sing, hoping it would get her mind off things.

Lifting her head a bit she straightened up and continued singing.

"I believe in you,

I'll give up everything just to find you.

I have to be with you,

To live,

To breathe,

You're taking over me."

Her eyes drifted to her hands as she sang.

"Have you forgotten all I know?

And all we had?

You saw me mourning my love for you

And touched my hand;

I knew you loved me then."

Miroku closed his eyes and began to sing along with her.

"I believe in you,

I'll give up everything just to find you.

I have to be with you,

To live,

To breath,

You're taking over me."

His deep voice mingled in with hers, sounding perfect.

Kagome smiled slightly, opening her eyes.

"I look in the mirror and see your face,

If I look deep enough,

So many things inside

That are just like you

Are taking over."

Looking over at Inu Yasha, she smiled a soft haunting smile, her silver eyes holding deep emotion in them.

Inu Yasha looked at her eyes, remembering that same exact look in Kikyou's eyes when she told him that she loved him.

Miroku began again as he opened his violet eyes.

"I believe in you,

I'll give up everything just to find you.

I have to be with you,

To live,

To breathe.

You're taking over me."

Her eyes dropped back down to her lap to stare at her tightly clasped hands. Her shoulders hunched slightly as she sang.

"I believe in you.

I'll give up everything just to find you.

I have to be with you,

To live,

To breathe.

You're taking over me..."

Sango smiled and echoed Kagome's and Miroku's voices.

"(Taking over me...)

You're taking over me...

(Taking over me...)

Taking over me..."

As the song ended, the car fell back into silence but Kagome was a bit less on edge now.

Inu Yasha smiled and patted her on the shoulder. "You guys should sing together one night, it sounded great."

Sango wrinkled her nose. "The only reason that chicken shit got up onstage last night, was because she was drunk. She actually gets hella cases of stage fright and refuses to do anything in front of a large crowd."

Kagome scowled up at her friend and unconsciously moved away from Inu Yasha's touch.

Inu Yasha laughed. "She can get over that quick enough."

Sango smirked. "Riiiiiight."

Kouga chuckled. "Do you think Inu was brave when he first started? He was far from it, I can tell you that much."

Inu Yasha glared at Kouga. "Hey! Keep me out of this."

Sango laughed and shook her head. She looked in the review mirror at Kagome. Frowning, she realized the girl had drifted off into her own little world again. They were almost home anyway, so there was no use in trying to reanimate her.

Kouga smirked. "But its so funny, Inu Yasha, you looked like you were going to piss your pants," he said as he took the last turn towards home.

Inu Yasha growled. "Damn it, Kouga, don't say another word, or I swear, I will smother you in your sleep."

Nazuna bounded out of the car as soon as they pulled up to the house. Kagome was hot on her tail as she bound out of the car and up the steps. Sango just sat still, staring at Kagome's fleeing form.

Inu Yasha got out of the car. "Well, what scared the hell out of them to make them run like that?" he asked as he closed the car door.

Miroku and Kouga got out and walked to the house. "Sometimes, Inu Yasha, it's best to leave well enough alone," Miroku stated wisely. "They have their reasons."

Inu Yasha snorted and flipped the hair out of his face. "You sound more and more like a monk every day, Miroku."

Sango laughed and shook her head walking up the steps after the boys.

Kagome sat back on her bed, tossing the rag she had used to wipe her makeup off with. The kids were already asleep, she was changed for bed, her door was locked, and her blades were taped underneath her bedside table's drawer. Kagome reached over and turned her music on low and closed her eyes, losing herself in the guitar riffs and haunting vocals.

The girl lifted her arm to study the dark scars. With the cover-up gone, they looked angry shades of red, purple, and the pale flesh color of her arms.

She reached over, pulled out the drawer, removed one of her blades from her many hiding spots, and shut the drawer again. Her music wrapped around her as the silver blade glinted, catching the moonlight. After a while, she lowered the blade to her arm, hacking away at it, crossing over old scars with the new cuts. The cool bite of the blade felt delicious against her warm skin as she sank deeper and deeper into her thoughts.

Everyone walked into the house and Inu Yasha flopped down on the couch.

Miroku made his usual run to the fridge but stopped. "Where's Kagome?" he asked as he looked around.

Nazuna yawned as she stretched, coming out of the bathroom. "I think she went to bed. She looked pretty beat when she came in."

Inu Yasha scowled as he spoke. "I don't think she should be left alone." He looked to Sango. "Sango, I want you to go and check on her. Would you please?"

Sango nodded and stood up, walking over to the door. When she went to open it though, she surprisingly found it wouldn't budge. Her scowl deepened. "Inu Yasha!" she called as she frantically pushed against the door, hoping it was just jammed or stuck.

The man she had beckoned for jumped up and ran to where Sango was. "What is it? What's wrong?"

She looked up at him, fear showing in her eyes. "She locked the door."
