Chapter 9 The Fight
a/n sorry for the late update. well on with the story.
Inuyasha looked down from the tree in which he was resting. Kagome was still asleep. 'Maybe Miroku is right.' he thought to himself. 'How can Kagome expect me to protect her from other demons, when i can't even protect her from myself?'Inuyasha looked around at the rest of their little pack. It was almost midday and everyone was up and doing something.
Sango and Shippo were making preparations for lunch. While Kouga and Miroku caught fish for lunch and dinner. No one was talking much. Amoung the adults there seemed to be some foreboding air, Shippo seemed oblivious. He kept whinning, wanting to wake up Kagome but Sango would deter him. Inuyasha wanted to throttel the little shit for disturbing Kagome. He looked over to the sleeping girl. His heart began to race as she opened her eyes.
Kagome woke with a pounding headache. As she sat up, she put her hand to her head. "Ugh." Kagome moaned. "I feel like I got hit by a bus." The more she woke up the stranger the air around her began to feel. She looked around and noticed that everyone was staring at her. "What did I do?" she asked. "Wait. Is there something wrong?" Sango and Inuyasha shook their heads no vehemently. Shippo on the other hand just stated, "Well, yeah. It's almost midday and you're just now waking up. I wanted to wake you up but Sango kept stopping me." Sango and Inuyasha looked at the child as if he wouldn't be alive much longer. Kagome looked at the furious adults. "Why wouldn't you let him wake me?" when neither of them answered she asked. "Why should I get to sleep in, when everyone else works?" Sango and Inuyasha just looked at one another. Kagome knew that look. They had let her sleep because they thought that she had something wrong with her. She did have something wrong but letting her sleep indefinitly just made it worse. A look of disgust crossed her face as she stood and looked at both Sango and Inuyasha. She was pissed. "I can't believe you people! You drive me fucking crazy! I can't believe I trusted you at all."She took a breath, trying to calm her self. It didn't work. "This is the last time I tell any of you anything!" She stormed
off into the near forestry.
"Shippo this is all your fault!" Inuyasha screamed. He was about to pummel the shit out of the unknowing child, when Kagome suddenly came into view. "Inuyasha! You risk my leaving if you EVER strike Shippo again." Kagome reached out to her adopted child. Shippo, truely scared, lept into her arms. Inuyasha was outraged. "WHAT?!" he screamed. "You have no right to tell me what to do!" He was fuming. Kagome looked cooly at the angry half demon. "I have as much right as you do." she stated simply. Inuyasha's Jaw hit the floor. She had out right defied him. Kagome, his woman, had defied him. He could not allow that. "Hey! You are MY property! You will listen to me and if you won't you can just leave!" he stated. 'That will put her in her place.' he thought to himself. But Kagome didn't even turn around.
Kagome couldn't believe the words that had come from that bastards mouth. She refused to even look at him. Taking a deep breath, she simply stated; "Fine. If that's the way you want it." 'I got her' Inuyasha thought smugly. Taking another breath, she said; "Then I'm leaving." At the lack of response, Kagome gathered her things and proceeded to walk towards the river. 'I hope Kouga's by the river.' she thought. 'I don't have to take Inuyasha's shit anymore. After all that was said last night, he just throw it all out the window.' She frowned. 'His posession. Whatever!'
Inuyasha couldn't believe that Kagome had decided to leave rather than be his posession. 'She can't do this!' he thought. He got up and made to go after Kagome, but Sango got to him first. Before Inuyasha knew what happened, Sango had him pushed up against a tree. "What the fuck is wrong with you?!" she whispered menecingly. "Do you realize that you have just done more damage in the last 5 minutes than you have all week?!" She slowly backed away from him. Inuyasha was kinda scared. Sango was a formidable foe in normal curcumstances but, when she's pissed..... He shivered slightly.
Sango calmed herself down. It took alot of restraint but she calmed. Brushing off her front, she turned around. Calmly she spoke, "Inuyasha, you have to let her go. If she decides that she wants to come back some time in the future, we will welcome her back with open arms, but untill then, she needs her independance." Inuyasha couldn't believe what Sango had just said. Sango could barely digest it herself. 'But thats the way it has to be' she thought with resolve.
