For You
Inuyasha's heart sank. Had she been speaking truthfully? Did she honestly love him? He looked up from Kagome and gave Miroku and Sango a glare that told them to leave them be for a while. They instantly understood and followed his silent orders, and left them alone.
“Kagome…” Inuyasha spoke as he knelt down beside her, placing his hands on her shoulders. He wanted to pull her closer her and hold her tightly against his body and tell her that he was sorry, and not to cry because he too felt the same way but his ego was overbearing and he couldn't pull himself to do it. “Kagome stop your crying.”
Kagome wiped her eyes and looked up at the one she had just painfully admitted to loving. She did love him, but why couldn't he love her back? Maybe Kikyo still wasn't as far from as his mind as he admitted her be. “Inuyasha, do you hate me? Do you still love Kikyo that much that you could never see yourself being with me?” She hated to ask, but these questions had been lingering in the back of her mind for too long to not let them go.
Inuyasha gently released his hands from her shoulders and stood up facing away from her. “Kagome I-I don't hate you.”
“Then why do you always treat me like you do!” she broke out.
Inuyasha breathed sharply. “I don't mean to!” he shouted back. “I've always been that way! It's hard to change after acting the way I have for so long, and yes I do love Kikyo, but not as much as I used to.”
Kagome arose slowly from the ground, refusing to look at his face. “I hate to tell you to change Inuyasha, but I really hope you do, because your attitude sucks!”
Inuyasha's body tightened at the sound of her words. She never asked anything of him. All she ever wanted was him to be himself, and act kind to her and her friends. He heard the sound of Kagome turning to go leave him, but he couldn't have that. He grabbed her arm and swung her around into his chest. Kagome gasped as she flew into his arms.
“Inuyasha?” she squeaked out. Kagome couldn't help herself; she had to let out a smile. She wanted him to treat her with respect and give her love in return for the love that she was laying down for him. Kagome wrapped her arms around Inuyasha's waist and hugged him tightly, hoping for change to come, although she'd be sadly mistaken.
A few moments later Miroku and Sango returned to find a happy and carefree Kagome, along with a slightly angry looking Inuyasha.
“So, tell me what happened between you two while we were gone.” Sango whispered to Kagome, pulling her off to the side and away from Inuyasha and his sensitive ears.
“Nothing really, I just told him how I felt, but when I went to turn away…he hugged me!” Kagome giggled.
Sango smiled at Kagome's happiness. “Well how bout we go cook up some ramen and keep Inuyasha happy so he doesn't lash out again. Besides, I'm hungry, we've been traveling for so long and I haven't eaten all day.”
Kagome nodded and rummaged through her backpack to find her supplies so that she could cook for the rest of her friends. The faint smell of ramen flew through the air drifting into Inuyasha's nose. His mouth began to water as he walked over towards Kagome. Thankfully, the smell was covering her scent and so he couldn't acquire any unwanted feelings for her.
“Hey Kagome?” he asked, “Are you making ramen?”
Kagome nodded, not bothering to look up. “Here, give these to Miroku and Sango, yours will be done in a minute.” Inuyasha nodded and grabbed the cups from her hands and quickly ran over to Miroku and Sango, the sooner he gave them theirs, the sooner he could get his too.
“Okay I'm done, can I have my ramen please?” he begged.
“Yes, here you go.” She said handing him his own cup of ramen.
“Ah! I love this stuff!” he yelled as he sat down quickly and dug into his meal. Kagome watched as he ate with a smile on her face. Ramen was the one sure thing that she could give to Inuyasha that would place a smile on his face.
“Glad you enjoy it so much.” She said sarcastically. She always
did like to tease him just to get him a little mad. “Strange, I wish I knew when I first met you that it would take a cup of ramen to make you nice for about 10 seconds while you scoff it down. Then maybe you wouldn't have tried to kill me!”
“Can it Kagome.” Inuyasha spoke with a full mouth.
Miroku slapped him in the back of the head with his staff, making Kagome give out a small laugh. “Don't talk when your mouth is full.”
“Agreed.” Sango said as she placed down her cup. “It's disgusting to watch you speak with your mouth full.”
Inuyasha glared at the two, then gave a smirk before opening his mouth to reveal his chewed up ramen bits. Miroku and Sango began to gag.
“Aw gross!” Kagome shrieked. “Sit!”
Inuyasha flew into the ground trying to hold back his tears as he watched his ramen fall to the ground and spill, making it un-edible. Once her incantation wore off he arose with an undying anger in his eyes.
“You made me spill my ramen.”
“Oh no!” Kagome said sarcastically with a smile on her face. “Oh gosh, what will we ever do? I don't think we'll ever be able to live since Inuyasha spilled his ramen…Sango, do you think we'll be okay?”
Sango tried to hold back her laughter as she noticed the annoyed look on Inuyasha's face. “I don't know Kagome. I hope we'll be able to continue on with our lives but, that ramen just might be the death of us all if he doesn't get more.”
“Shut up Sango!” Inuyasha yelled.
They all had their share of laughs and Kagome handed him another cup. As his hands touched hers when he grabbed his cup he felt the emotions he was noticing earlier. He was close to grabbing her and having his way with her right there on the spot.
“NO!” He yelled as he pulled away quickly.
Kagome and Inuyasha watched as his cup fell to the ground once more and spilled. “What's wrong with you?!” she screamed.
Inuyasha snapped to. “I-I don't know what's happening I felt like I wanted to…” Inuyasha stopped talking when he realized what he was about to say. “I mean…umm...nothing! I'm absolutely fine, see? Nothing wrong with me…just plain ol' Inuyasha.”
Kagome caught the nervousness in his voice. “Come with me Inuyasha, we're going to have a little talk.”
“I don't think that's a good idea Kagome.” Inuyasha said as she grabbed his hand.
“I don't care what kind of idea you think it is. You're going to tell me what the hell is wrong with you and why you've been acting so weird lately, because I KNOW you're not going to speak in front of Miroku and Sango.”
Inuyasha rolled his eyes. //She thinks she knows me sooo well.// he thought to himself. They finally made it to a clearing and she sat him down.
“Now. Tell me what is wrong.” She spoke while putting her hands on her hips.
Inuyasha bit his lip. Was he really ready to tell her why he thought he was acting weird. “Well, um.”
“OUT WITH IT!” She yelled pushing him to the ground, landing on top of the young half demon.
“Kagome get off me I think I'm in heat!!!!!” he yelled pushing her off.
Kagome blushed as she fell to the ground. “What did you say?!”
Inuyasha turned just as red as Kagome. “Oh, don't be stupid! You heard what I said. I said I think I'm in heat! That's why I've been acting funny and have these horrible thoughts!”
“Just what do you start thinking in that head of yours?!”
Inuyasha blushed even brighter. “I don't think I want to tell you.”
“Inuyasha…”
“No, you heard all you need to hear. If I'm lucky though, nothing will happen to you.”
Kagome moved closer. “What's that supposed to mean?”
Inuyasha felt her rub against him; the warmness she emitted was too much. A wave of unwanted desires jolted through his body and he could no longer contain his demon instincts. Pushing Kagome to the ground, straddling over her, he stared into her eyes.
“I guess you'll soon find out.”
