Shippo looked at them. “We’re not trying to get rid of you hunny. But me and Inu are going to have...” Kagome looked for a good lie quickly. “A adult party. We’re going to have a few drinks and watch a movie so that we can have dinner later tonight.” Kagome smiled at Shippo. That actually sound like a good idea.Shippo smiled. He kissed Kagome bye and nodded to Inu Yasha before climbing back into the car.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~Now
The car pulled away from the curb and Inu yasha pulled Kagome up the stairs to her apartment. He unlocked the door and Kagome barely shut it as she was pulled in. She was pushed against the door and Inu Yasha pressed against her, his mouth taking hers. Kagome moaned and he took the chance to slip his tongue in, playing.
They stood pressed against the door for a moment before Kagome pushed Inu Yasha back and onto the couch. She straddled his legs and continued the kiss.
The couple groaned, however; as someone knocked on the door. Kagome dropped her head to Inu Yasha’s shoulder and pulled herself away from his body.
Whoever was at the door was impatient.
“Who is it?” Kagome called pressing her ear to the door. One down fall to no peep hole.
“I’m looking for Inu Yasha.” Kagome motioned for him to come to the door. She slipped on the chain as Inu Yasha reached the door.
“Who is it?” Inu Yasha asked.
“Just open the door mutt.” Inu Yasha took the chain from the door and Kagome looked at him. He paid no attention and opened the door to show a tall man. He had brown hair in a pony tail and the top of his head and fangs.
Kagome’s eyes looked over him quickly memorizing everything. He had claws and his coat had fur. By the look it was wolf. She looked at him and could feel his aura, it was hidden well but she could tell he was also a wolf demon. Unsure of who he was Kagome noticed he held a large duffle bag. She backed up and into the kitchen never taking her eyes from him.
“Koga, get in here.” Inu Yasha opened the door more and Koga stepped in. The door shut and Kagome heard the locks go into place. “Don’t you dare touch those steak knives.” Inu Yasha yelled into the kitchen.
Kagome growled, but slid one under her shirt at her back. The shirt was white and hide it well. She took a second from the rack and slid it her sock. She walked back into the living room to she the new arrival sitting in a chair. She stood behind Inu Yasha and glared at the man her features completely iced over.
“Kagome, this is Koga. Koga, Kagome.” Inu Yasha introduced. Koga smiled at her with a gleam in his eyes. Kagome nodded slightly with her head and nothing more.
Koga reached for the duffle back and tossed it in front of the couch Inu Yasha was sitting on.
Kagome’s brow rose as Inu Yasha motioned her to it. She knelt down and unzipped the bag.
Letting out a high squeal Kagome stripped herself of the steak knives and sat down happily taking out her original blades. As she unsheathed each one and tested each blade with her finger.
“Kagome, I thought I told you to leave the knives alone.” Inu Yasha growled watching her as she tossed them aside.
Kagome turned to him and stuck out her tongue before standing with a sword.
“If you break anything, I’m going to put you over my knee.” Inu Yasha growled again.
Kagome smiled and took a couple of well tamed slashes before twirling and ending with the tip of her blade at the hollow if Inu Yasha’s throat.
“I’d like to see you try.” She taunted. She sheathed the blade and kicked up the two long daggers dropping the sword. Kagome flicked the sheaths off the daggers and twirled.
“This is better than a stripper.” Koga relaxed. His arms moved behind his head and he leaned back in the chair.
Kagome looked over at InuYasha but continued like nothing was said.
“Kagome what do ya say about coming home with me and being my wife?” Kagome tripped on air and corrected herself like it was meant to happen. Inu Yasha coughed beside her and she smiled.
She slashed out at Koga and stared at him. The blood coming slowly from his cheek moments later.
“I think not.” She said coldly. Koga was stunned. Kagome stepped back and set down against the couch, she pulled out her armor. It was a little heavier but she could work with it. “I’m going out on a scout I’ll be back later.” She stood and left the room.
“Damn it Koga. I ought to let her kill you.” Inu Yasha growled wanting nothing more than to reach out and strangle the wolf. “Besides what about Ri? Aren’t you two going strong?”
“She walked out on me a few days ago.” Koga shrugged and wiped the blood away from his skin. He looked at the blood a minute and licked the red liquid from his hand. “She’s good.”
“Only the best.” Inu Yasha muttered still very pissed at Koga.
“The best huh? I though you and Sessh were.” Koga looked up at his friend.
Inu Yasha shook his head. “No, she could probably best even us.”
“I doubt that.” Koga jumped at Kagome’s voice behind him. He jumped from the chair to the floor. Inu Yasha looked up at her and grinned.
Kagome’s face was cold but she nodded slightly at him. Koga stared up at her as she stood behind the chair in the armor he had picked up. Kagome placed a hand on the back of the chair and swung herself over it bouncing as she landed.
“My chair.” Kagome smirked. Inu Yasha started laughing as Koga’s face dropped. One moment a cold person the next a happy person; this girl had problems, but still she was hot.
Koga righted himself and stood taking a seat next to Inu Yasha.
“If you want to come Inu Yasha your welcome to, can’t stop you. But if you need to find me I’ll be somewhere over by Chinatown. Anyone you want me to check up on before I go?”
“No there isn’t. But if you wait about twenty minuets I’ll go with you.”
“What are you going to go do over by Chinatown! That’s like the dark side.” Koga stuttered.
“Your point?” Kagome glared at him. That was her home.
“Wait a minute......You’re the ghost!” Koga looked between Inu Yasha and Kagome.
“I say again; YOUR POINT?” Kagome growled leaning forward.
Koga’s mouth dropped. He had heard of her. She had even left him a note once when he was young to watch out. After that note he stopped the gang life and the killing for fun. Ya sure he was rich but every boy needs to have his fun.
“I’ll go get on my fire rat.” Inu Yasha stood up. Koga usually wasn’t scared of anything but he was cowering to Kagome. It was entertaining in a way.
After looking for half-an-hour, Inu Yasha finally found the ancient robes. The red material was a comfort. He grew up wearing only these robes. Only when the times started to change into modern wear did he retire them for more of a keepsake purpose. He walked back into the and pulled his own sword from the black bag that had been emptied.
“I figured it was better to not touch it.” Kagome said bored.
“Ya.” Inu Yasha fastened it to his waist and flexed his claws. “It feels different. I feel like it’s war all over again.”
“You are seriously going out.” Koga was stunned. Inu Yasha, Sesshomaru and he had stayed in contact fairly. His own wolf pelts were safely in a vault hidden from the world. However; deep down the thing he wanted most was long gone; his pack. He was shocked that Inu Yasha was standing before him as if they were back in feudal Japan.
“I told Kagome I would go with her a few times. I think going in the day time would be best until I get use to the streets more.” Kagome nodded with agreement. It wasn’t safe at night especially if you don’t know the streets.
“I’d tag along but I don’t have my own armor.” Koga sighed. He wanted to go too.
Kagome looked at the wolf feeling the waves of depression come off him one after another. She let out a long sigh. She didn’t much care for the wolf but he seemed like a good ally and potential friend. “You got street clothes on you?” she muttered not believing she was doing this.
“Ya, in my car. We always carry a change of clothes.” Koga looked up at her then to Inu Yasha who shrugged.
“Go change. Hurry up im tired of waiting. But if you fall behind your left behind. And I say stay you had better stay.” Kagome growled. She couldn’t believe she was doing this. Koga nodded dumbly and jogged out the door down to his car.
“Do I want to know?” Inu Yasha asked staring at the closed front door.
“No.” Kagome sighed. “Besides I don’t even know.”
Koga came back and changed in the bathroom. He came back out wearing baggy jeans and a worn shirt. Kagome looked him over memorizing him and the way he moved. Koga walked across the room to Inu Yasha and Kagome.
“Will this work?” he turned with his arms out.
“Ya I guess. I mean I fought in street clothes for most of my life.” Kagome however noticed that Koga had no weapon except his claws and fangs. She stood staring at him for a moment. The streets would be very unfriendly to him and being with her it wouldn’t be much better. Sighing for what seemed like the hundredth time that day she unbuckled one of her swords. She handed it over to him. Koga took it confused but played with it and finally got it to fit his waist. Kagome nodded and headed out of the apartment and down to the garage. A green neon painted car was parked to the left of the elevator as they exited. She guessed it was Koga’s. Her black bike was parked in the corner covered with shadows. She loaded it and waited for the other two it get ready.
Inu Yasha walked over to what Kagome had thought was a closet or some type of shelter and pulled out his keys. He unlocked the door and it opened revealing a small room. Six bikes. All different types, sat inside.
“I’m more of a car person, but I guess these might come in handy.” He pulled one out and passed it to Koga. Pulling out another, Inu Yasha shut the door and loaded his bike. Kagome watched as both men pulled on the helmets that were attached to the handle bars. She pulled hers on and started the bike.
Three bikes thundered to life and raced out of the underground area onto the streets. Kagome sped up her bike doing a wheelie before landing and rushing forward. Inu Yasha and Koga leaned over their bikes and raced after her.
Inu Yasha was impressed. She had been on the machine only once and was a master at it. He watched his love flow in and out between cars with ease. She was just like a ghost but he still could only see an angel. Koga was following her closely and InuYasha could only feel the jealously build in his chest. Kagome was his.
Kagome turned and he and Koga almost missed it. He growled and sped up hoping to get up closer to her to not loose sight but they were already going fairly fast. Inu Yasha tapped the side of his helmet twice and turned on the visor screen and the communication intercom with the other helmets.
“Kagome, slow down or your doing to crash.” He growled.
Kagome jumped at the sudden noise and almost hit a car. She growled and looked over her shoulder at both men following her.
“Tap the side of your helmet twice.” Kagome did as he said.
“What?!” She growled speeding up again and getting back into the rhythm. She led the onto the highway and weaved between the heavy traffic.
“Slow down.” Inu Yasha said again. Kagome flipped him off and a car honked at her. Koga’s laughing echoed around the group as they road on.
Kagome weaved to the right quickly and exited the highway.
Inu Yasha growled and so did Koga. They quickly weaved over after the woman.
“Damn it woman, warn us.” Koga all but yelled.
“I told you to keep up.” Kagome’s voice was cold. Inu Yasha was shocked now what he thought about it her voice had been cold the few words she had said.
“Kagome what’s wrong?” He asked. The communication line was silent. “Kagome?”
“I’m fine.” Her voice was still cold. This time though he saw Koga shiver in front of him.
“No your not. What are you thinking about?” He pressed as he pulled up beside her at a red light.
“Nothing.” She stared ahead not even looking at her surroundings.
“Tell us, please.” Inu Yasha wasn’t going to drop it.
“Fine, if you want to know so damn much. Look behind us.” She took off as the cars in front of them started moving with the green light.
Koga and Inu Yasha looked back. No one was there. With the exception of a couple of race looking cars, a bike, and a few normal looking cars. They took off after Kagome. She was already a block ahead of them.
“What are we suppose to see?” Koga asked trying to catch up but failing to get anywhere back near the girl.
“Those two cars were part of the biggest local gang on this side of town. Both belong to the Raiders. Can’t say they like me much. I’d do something about them but I can’t find the leader. Only the higher ranked people know who it is and the lower are the only ones I can find.” Kagome turned again but this time Inu Yasha and Koga could follow. She took another turn and slowed down so her companions could catch up.
Inu Yasha slowed down beside Kagome and Koga on her other side.
The cars came around the corner in front of them and stopped. One person climbed out of the window of the car to their right.
“Aren’t you a little far from home?” The sneer in his voice held a accent that was very close to Russian. Kagome moved a little forward.
She flipped her visor. “No not really.” She called back.
“Oh really, what could a Cin like you want down here?”
“Cin?” Inu Yasha repeated.
“It’s a street term used for the rich or high class.” Kagome whispered.
“Oh.”
“That’s our business.” Kagome shot back. Out of the corner of her eyes she could see curious people looking out the windows of the run down buildings. Most of the windows were either broken or boarded up, that could hide anyone wanting to shoot them. Not good.
“Well its ours now.” The man sneered again. He couldn’t be more than a few months over driving age. The car he drove had to have been stolen and redone. She smiled and snickered.
“Sorry boys, can’t tell it’s a secret.” Kagome laughed and leaned over her bike her arms crossed on the glass shield on the bike.
“A secret huh?” The man smiled and looked over at the second car. The person had yet to get out of the car but Kagome thought it was a girl. “So you won’t mind if we follow you around till you leave our borders, will you?”
Kagome looked back at her tag alongs. They shrugged and she turned back around. “I guess but can you keep up?” She asked.
“Can you?” He shot back grinning.
Kagome flipped her visor. Blue light flashed across it and flickered showing a map of the state, then the city, then their area. Kagome looked back at Inu Yasha and could tell he was smiling.
She revved the bike and hit the break spinning her bike around. She let go and was off. Inu Yasha and Koga right behind her. The cars thundering after them and the race was on.
Inu Yasha and Koga stuck beside Kagome fairly well, although they had two cars on their tail they had the better machine.
Swerving in and out of each other Kagome led them farther into the area. Two more cars joined in the chase. Taking a turn Kagome led them into an alley and what looked to be a dead end. The cars rushed by but the screeching of the tires made it known they were not stopping the hunt. Inu Yasha and Koga looked at each other as Kagome slowed down and turned into a few small walk way. The bikes fit in with an inch or two to spare. Kagome turned off her bike and pushed her way down the space. Inu Yasha and Koga followed her confused. They came to a metal door. Kagome knocked lightly on it.
Voices from the alley echoed to them and Kagome knocked again. The door slid open silently and Kagome angled the bike in. She motioned for Inu Yasha and Koga to hurry. They walked the machines in and the door closed leaving them in pitch darkness.
“I think they went this way but there’s no way.” Someone called. Kagome let out a breath she had been holding and pulled off the helmet when the voices stopped. All four engines started and the cars left.
Somewhere in the dark Kagome heard the hammer of a gun being pulled. “Wanna tell me what’s going on and how the hell you know about this place?” It was a mans voice.
More guns were cocked. Inu Yasha tensed but knew Kagome had brought them to a save area. Beside him though, Koga was reaching for the sword at his hip.
“My name is forsaken. My soul is an eagle and only the moon will ever catch me.” Kagome recited. “I walk in the darkness and all the world fears me.”
“LIGHTS” The man yelled. Florescent lights flared and Inu Yasha, along with Koga, were blinded. “Shadow.” A man walked over to Kagome and kissed her cheek. “I see you got new gear.” The man looked over the bike.
“In a way.” Kagome smiled. Inu Yasha finally got his sight back and wished he hadn’t. More than 50 people surrounded them on all sides. Each holding a gun or two.
“I’m guessing Raiders again?” Kagome kicked the sand in place and unloaded the bike.
“Ya. We went from two ta four within10 minutes.” Kagome set her helmet on the seat and followed her friend to the couch. Two seats opened up and she flopped down.
“And these two? Friends?”
“Yes. However I think the guns were a bit much.” The man beside her waved his hand and the guns were put up. Inu Yasha relaxed and Koga moved his hand away from the sword.
“Looks like Cins.”
“They are.” Kagome looked over her companions. “But, they’re on my side.”
Inu Yasha got off his bike and lifted the helmet. His silver hair falling down his back. Gasps followed through the large area. Then the whispers started.
Inu Yasha turned to Kagome confused. Koga then took his helmet off also and added to the noise.
“So you just went up pretty high after they caught you.”
Kagome snorted and crossed her arms. “They didn’t catch me, I had to fucking wait for the damn cops to show then one guy said I was a killer and blah, blah, blah, blah.” Kagome groaned out. A ring of laugher rain out over coming the whispers. “But Takashi offered me a job for a place to crash, food, and some clothes. Said yes. Couple nights later found one of the fox family murdered and adopted a son. Lets see, oh I showed off in front of a whole store. In the mall.” Kagome gasped. More laughs rang out.
“They got you into the mall?” Someone from the side shouted.
“Twice.” Kagome wiggles two fingers in the air.
“Kagome? Who are these people?” Inu yasha spun around looking at the lined walls of people.
“These are more people like me.” Kagome stood up and walked to him and Koga. “These people are the other protectors of your stupid state.”
“And they’re not family or friend?” Koga stood next to Inu Yasha staring.
“No.” Kagome shook her head. “It’s a weakness.”
“Just a weakness? Kagome you’ve lived your life in the dark. You could have had a family, but instead you say it’s a weakness!?” Inu Yasha marched forward and grabbed her upper arms. “I don’t get you. Help me out. Please.” He pulled her to him and held back the tears.
“I want to change.” Kagome whispered so he could only hear. He held her tighter and nodded slightly.
Kagome pushed away after a moment and turned around. “I’m leaving.” Murmuring erupted around the building.
“What?” The man who Kagome was so familiar with was outraged. Even though Inu Yasha didn’t know who he was he could tell there might be one or two problems.
“I’m leaving. I have a chance with Inu Yasha at what I want. Plus if some of us get higher in the world then we will make the world only better.” Kagome let out a long sigh. “I’m not going to keep killing and hoping to raise ourselves up. I’m making my own move.” Her eyes glowed with power and something else, something that was not.....human.
“We won’t let you turn into one of them.” The man growled.
“You will not stop me.” Kagome growled. He body popping with energy. Many stepped back and pressed against the walls to get away.
“Nothing short of killing you ever would stop you unless you found out the hard way. Since letting you go out on your own higher up will change you into a Cin, I will not let you go.”
“You can’t not stop me.” Kagome stood straight and tall. Her shoulders were tight.
“So be it.” The man rushed forward at a speed that could hardly be seen. Kagome jumped up and bent her knees. The man stopped in front of Inu Yasha with a look that could kill. He jumped after Kagome and soon the flashes of clothes, weapons, and skin were racing around the room. Inu Yasha moved back to his bike that was parked next to a wall. Koga went with him trying to keep up with the fight with no luck.
The floor was clear and the walls lined. The room was silent all except for the sounds made from the two opponents.
Blood rained down a little off center of the room. Kagome skid to a stop on the dirt floor and spun her swords around in a circle changing their positions. One sword was tightly in her mouth gripped with a firm jaw. The man stopped a few yards away holding some type of weapon. The long metal pipe had a chain welded on and at the end of that held an iron ball with spikes. It was a poor attempt at the real thing but the danger was still strong.
Inu Yasha leaned in to the person next to him. “What’s his name?” He whispered.
“Tiger’s eye.” The teen age girl whispered. Her red hair dull and limp. She turned to look at Inu Yasha. “Who’s your friend?” She asked.
Wolf. Inu Yasha thought. His nose twitched. “Koga.” Both were brought back to the battle at the sound of metal hitting metal echoed through the area.
Tiger’s eye was attacking Kagome swinging his weapon wildly. Kagome held up a defense but was being pushed back slowly. Her boot was sliced across the calf. The dark material gleamed and Inu Yasha couldn’t tell if it was blood or not. He focused his sense of smell on her but Kagome only held the scent of flowers and the woods, much like his own. He pushed his nose more wondering why he couldn’t smell blood, maybe there was none.
Kagome hissed taking a step back and placing the more of her weight on the leg Inu Yasha was concerned about. Inu Yasha’s eyes widened as blood oozed out thickly. Kagome took another step back and leaned in to her defense as her opponent came face to face.
She lowered her arms slowly and twisted her neck, the sword in her mouth whistling at it sliced out. Tiger’s eye stepped back and Kagome took her turn to start attacking. Her attacks were random and strong. Her opponent could only continue to step back, his weapon held out in front of him blocking on few of the attacks.
Kagome thrust out with one of her swords and caught one of the chain links on the blade. She twisted her weapon in the chain and pulled it from the hands of its holder.
Her other sword slashing up across his throat. Blood trickled from the cut but Kagome slashed out again and caught the man’s cheek. Again she attacked with the same sword, catching his arm.
She stopped attacking and grabbed the sword from her mouth She held the two swords in her left hand the other holding the sword still wrapped in her opponents weapon.
“I should kill you.” She growled. A growl that was anything but human let alone female. “I won’t though. Hear my words; I belong to no one. I’m leaving and anyone who wants to join me is welcome to but if you think to challenge me you will not be spared. Don’t come looking for me.” Half the words were to the people standing around the walls. The other half directed to the man cowering on the ground. She turned and walked away tossing her arm out to the side to rid herself of the weapon tangled around her own.
The room was dead silent. The woman next to Inu Yasha stepped forward and knelt down on the dirt floor. “What are your orders?” She asked head bowed.
“Stand Ayame.” Kagome sheathed her swords and stood in front of the woman. She looked around the room and glared.
“Lets go. I hear someone calling us.” Kagome smiled at Inu Yasha and he smiled back. They loaded the three bikes and Kagome motioned for Ayame to join Koga. They would make a nice couple, Kagome thought as someone opened the front door leading to the road.
Tiger’s eye bowed his head in defeat. No one said a word at the three bikes left.
“That’s not what I thought that would go like.” Kagome admitted as they raced along.
“No?” Koga laughed through the intercom.
“No.” Kagome’s voice was calm. Inu Yasha was silent. He kept doing over the fight in his mind.
“Inu Yasha?” Koga asked pulling up next to him.
“Huh? What?” Inu Yasha looked over at him.
Kagome looked back but continued on. “What are you thinking?”
Inu Yasha weaved and came back to Koga’s side. “Nothing.”
“Liar.” Kagome coughed. Koga and Inu Yasha laughed.
“Nothing really.” Inu Yasha defended.
“Whatever.” Kagome smirked and turned. She came to a screeching stop.
The road was blocked by cars, bikes and trucks. Cars were turning to avoid the blockade. Kagome’s bike was angled and she stared down the road. Inu Yasha and Koga angled their bikes also. Someone pointed at them and it seemed like the world was closing in around from the front. Kagome looked around at the lines of people. The Raiders had been busy to get this together.
“What do we do?” Inu Yasha asked.
“We can’t go back to the hideout. But it’s going to be hard to escape all this and get back to the apartment or the office. Any place close to here we can hide for a few hours?” Kagome looked at the wall as it moved forwards. Car seemed to stop and turn avoiding the area all together.
“My place but it’s like 10 miles away and we have to get on the freeway.” Koga chimed in.
“Lets go. We don’t have much of a choice. Tell Ayame to get on with me.” Inu Yasha ordered.
“No Koga, you lead me and Inu Yasha will bring up the back and cover you two so we can take the hits.” Kagome interjected.
“Good point.” Inu Yasha nodded to Kagome and she nodded back.
Koga squealed the bike around and sped off into on coming traffic. Kagome and Inu Yasha right behind followed by the gang much further back.
“If you weave they can’t shoot us as easily.” Kagome spoke out. The small group weaved between cars and back and forth. Kagome looked back and saw the gang following them, the cars and trucks having a bit more of a hard time. However; the bikes zoomed through traffic as cleanly as they did.
“Pick it up boys, we got chasers.” Inu Yasha looked back at Kagome’s words. He swore and pushed the bike on. Koga also pushed ahead and kagome looked back again. There were what? Three maybe four bikes, seven or eight trucks and twelve or thirteen cars. Kagome zoomed off to the left breaking away from her friends.
The most part of the followers chased after her. She weaved in and out of traffic.
“Kagome?” Inu Yasha panicked.
“I’m fine, keep going im about a block to the left of you there’s a intersection ahead of me im hoping to get the large vehicles caught up in.” Kagome looked on ahead and smiled at the long line of waiting people. The light was green but people were backed up for awhile. She headed straight down a path of cars. Horns blared around her and Kagome turned right in between two turning cars. The bikes following skid to a stop but continued when it was safe to go. As for the other bunch they were being trapped in by each other and other people. Kagome turned again and raced leaned down over the bike to catch up with her friends.
“Kagome, get on the freeway when you can and take one seventy third.” Koga instructed.
Kagome raced up onto the exit and she could barely make out their shapes ahead of her. Engines raced at her back and Kagome raced to stay ahead of then and out of gun fire, if it ever started.
“Keep doing, your in my sight.” Kagome revved again for the second time and shifted into the final gear.
“How good are you at that bike Kagome?” Inu Yasha asked.
“Doing, fine.” kagome tossed herself to the right and past another car.
“Good, now,” He let out a sigh. “There is a yellow button covered on the left handle, on it is NOS. If you use it be in last gear and be ready to weave as fast and hard as you can.”
“Ok.” Kagome took note of it. An overhead sign read they still had another 5 miles till the exit.
“Kagome?” Koga asked.
“What?” She growled, weaving again and getting a honk from the driver.
“Use the NOS when I say.”
Kagome was about to ask why but she looked further up the road and saw the exit empty. Construction. Crap, she couldn’t go through gravel yet, she wasn’t that good. “You got to be kidding me.”
“Now.” Kagome flipped the switch and pressed the button. She was thankful her helmet was on but the force of the open wind was harsh. Her weapons sliced at the air but also added another force against the wind.
Cars flew by her and she managed to exit with her friends. A semi-sharp turn came at the end of the ramp and Kagome let out a string of curses. Inu Yasha and Koga both looked at her as kagome skid low to the ground he knee half a centimeter from the ground. Kagome tipped it more so she wouldn’t crash and drug her knee across the gravel. She ignored it as the leather and skin were worn away. She cleared the turn and followed the other two down the road.
Koga turned into a under ground parking area and the darkness hid them as their followers came down the street. Kagome turned off the bike and kicked the stand into place. The bike leaned to the side and she braced herself on her bad leg. Inu Yasha parked his own bike against the wall in the shadows and was at her side as she began falling. Ayame took the bike and placed it next to Inu Yasha’s as he carried her to stand next to Koga.
“She needs attention now.” Inu Yasha growled. Kagome closed her eyes hearing and feeling the blood start pumping and leaving her body. Her head fell to his chest.
Ayame jogged over to Kagome and looked at the knee. “You can see the bone, she’ll be out for 2 weeks at the least. Month at the most.” Inu Yasha growled again.
Koga lead them to a stairwell and up into a large two story house. The outside looked old and falling apart but inside it was almost a mansion. A crystal chandelier hung above them as Inu Yasha placed Kagome on the table. He held her up with a hand on her arm, and inspected the damage. In truth Kagome needed to go to the hospital but Inu Yasha didn’t want her any where but his side. And to get her there could risk her life even more.
“Don’t die on me.” He whispered.
Koga tossed his keys next to Kagome and rushed into the rooms out of sight. There wasn’t much skin to stitch back together but they had to do something.
Ayame can back holding a dish towel that was wet. She held a bowl in her other hand full of water. Inu Yasha took off the leather boot gently after laying Kagome down on the long table. Inu Yasha growled at the sharp scent of blood A good amount of it had pooled in the bottom of the shoe and more dripped down to the hard-wood floor.
Koga came back while Ayame cleaned the wound. He carried a needle, threat, gauze and tape. It was the best they could do for now.
Two hours later.
Kagome groaned, her head hurt, and her leg was numb. Thoughts of earlier ran through her head and she tossed the blankets away to show the tightly wrapped area of her knee. She remembered a few words in the conversation of her friends but it was all...fuzzy. The room was dark and the curtains hiding the world from her.
The room was painted a hunter green. The light above her was almost a chandelier but shorter and closer to the ceiling. Two doors were on the far right. Kagome was guessing it was a closet since a single door was on the wall next to it and a bit closer to the bed. A oak dresser was in front of the bed about 4 feet holding a handful of picture frames. Above them a flat screen TV and speakers hanging from the wall. The bed was four poster and a size smaller then Inu Yasha’s.
It was a nice room all in all. Kagome laid back down and pulled the covers back over her legs. She was so tired.
Inu Yasha crept into Koga’s room. His friend had insisted on putting Kagome in his bed with the excuse that the guest room didn’t have sheets for the bed. It was a bad lie on Koga’s part but Inu Yasha didn’t push the matter.
Kagome had been out for almost 6 hours and although she was fine he couldn’t help but worry.
He silently shut the door behind him and looked towards the bed. The covers had been ruffled and were no longer smooth like the last time he had come to check on the girl. Inu Yasha smoothed them out and sat down on the edge of the bed brushing a stray bit of hair from his love’s face.
Kagome whimpered in her sleep and nuzzled his hand as it brushed her cheek. Her eyes slowly cracked open. Inu Yasha smiled down at her. Smiling back kagome snuggled into the covers more trying hard not to shiver at the cold pressing at her skin.
“How do you feel?”
“Don’t ask.” She moaned. A hand moved up from the sheets and pressed to her forehead.
“Pain?” Inu Yasha whispered. She had lost a lot of blood and her senses were probably messed up he didn’t want to make the headache worse.
“Ya.” Kagome nodded to him and hissed at the pain throbbed against the sides of her skull.
“I’ll be right back then.” Inu Yasha stood and crept out of the room to fetch her some aspirin and water.
Shippo sat with Ayame, Sango and Rin on the couch. Miroku and Sesshomaru were at the kitchen table with Koga talking. No one seemed to look as Inu Yasha passed them to get water and the pain medication.
“Is she awake?” Koga asked as Inu Yasha poured water from a pitcher in the fridge into a glass.
“Ya, but she’s out of it. Her spell dropped so don’t let anyone in the room if you can stop them.” Inu Yasha looked at the table and let out a tired sigh. He walked back towards the room and slipped back in.
Kagome was sitting up against the head board un wrapping her torso.
“What are you doing?” Inu Yasha placed the items he carried on the dresser and lunged to her side.
“These aren’t needed.” The wrapping fell away to show scars and the newest bullet wound healed and scared over.
“That’s not possible.” Inu Yasha gasped.
“I’m not human. Im a miko. It runs in my blood. I heal almost as fast as a demon.” She tossed the bandages to the side and leaned back closing her eyes.
“Kagome.” Inu Yasha let out and sigh and sat on the side of the bed.
“I see my spell has dropped.” Inu Yasha nodded barely making out the dark scars in the dark. He stood and turned on a light. Behind him Kagome hissed and hid her face with the covers. Inu Yasha retrieved the items he had brought and handed them to Kagome. She accepted the after a second.
Downing the aspirin and water she handed him back to glass.
“So if you heal fast how long do you thing it will take you to heal you missing skin from you knee and the shredded mussels?”
“I don’t know...about a week.” Kagome looked at the ceiling. She heard him faintly thank the gods.
Inu Yasha leaned forwards and kissed her cheek before standing. “Everyone is here, we’ve all been worried.”
“Everyone?”
“Shippo, Sesshomaru, Rin, Koga, Ayame, Miroku, and Sango.”
“Oh, everyone.” Kagome tossed the blanket to the side and turned to get off the bed.
Inu Yasha grabbed a robe from the closet and offered it to Kagome as she stood slowly. “I’d help but I know you don’t want it.” He smiled and she had to smile back at him.
“Your right.” Kagome took the robe and pulled it around her bare form. Tying the sash tightly in a knot she stood more firmly using less of her bad knee.
Inu Yasha sighed and went to her side and wrapped an arm around her waist. He helped her walk to the door and opened it for the two of them. They walked out of the room and all eyes were on them.
“Ayame, I need that tea.” Kagome said. Her voice held no note of pain or emotion at that.
Ayame hopped off the couch and bowed before heading for the door.
“I’ll go with her.” Rin said. From the kitchen Sesshomaru nodded and the two left. Shippo was leaning, and sort of holding, on the back on the couch watching the two as they stood in the middle of the room.
Kagome ignored the stuff around her and waited for a little of her strength to come back.
“Come on Miss. I-have-to-get-up-and-not-stay-in-bed-to-heal.” Inu Yasha lead her to the couch to sit. Kagome took the seat and let out a sigh. Shippo watched them for a second before crawling into Kagome’s lap and crying.
Kagome watched the kit and was utterly clueless at what to do, but settled to place her hands on him gently and let the kit know she was here. The place was silent except for Shippo’s muffled crying.
“It’s nice to see you well.” Sango smiled finally breaking the silence. Kagome smiled at her and was thankful she could keep the cover spell going even if it was tiering.
Sesshomaru, Miroku and Koga can into the living room slowly. Kagome closed her eyes and relaxed trying to not use much energy.
A hand touched her shoulder and Kagome know who it was.
“Drop your spell Kagome.” Sesshomaru whispered. All eyes turned to the cold hearted demon as he said her name.
“My pain is for no one to see, for you to have looked upon me without it is enough.” Kagome murmured. Shippo looked up at his mother and pulled the robe tighter into his small fists not wanting to let go and maybe lose her like his real mother.
“It will drain you of everything until you die or sleep. Drop it and use that strength for healing.” The demon lord pressed.
“I will drop it in privacy without innocents around.” Kagome said stronger.
“You are as stubborn as any demon.” Koga laughed and the room seem to lose much of the heaviness.
“You are hiding a great deal.” Shippo sniffed from Kagome’s lap. “Please, Kagome, let us see.”
“I have heard similar words to those once. It seems so long ago and yet it only happened a few days ago.” She laughed lightly and shook her head.
Inu Yasha sat beside her legs looking up at her. “We are your friend’s don’t hide from us.” He defended.
“Your right. You are.” Kagome took a deep breath and focused dropping the spell so tightly wrapped around her. The room was silent again. The hand on her shoulder left and Sesshomaru moved away. Kagome looked back at him and he disappeared into the kitchen, out of sight.
Kagome looked back at Shippo as the kit traced scars on her hands. He traced them up her arms pushing the sleeve ever higher exposing more as he played. Sango’s hand reached out and Kagome turned her head as her friends fingers brushed down the scar on her eye.
Sesshomaru walked around the couch holding something. Kagome turned and watched him as he stood in front of her. He offered her a cherry wood box with painted designs. Kagome lifted the lid.
A long sword with sheath beside it lay in a nest of black satin.
Kagome looked back up at the man. “May I?” She asked wanting nothing more than to hold the great sword in her hand.
“You may.” Sesshomaru answered.
Kagome wrapped her right hand around the handle and lifted it with ease. The sword pulse and hummed in her hand but didn’t not reject her caring touch. Energy spilled out of the blade in fine treadles of light creeping up her hand and wrist. They played along her skin feeding her energy. Soon, Kagome felt well rested and healed. The numbness of her leg being chased away by the energy.
Kagome place the sword back in the box and leaned down to kiss the blade. No one made a comment. The sword hummed at her and Kagome smiled.
“I would be more than to make you sing again my friend but not now in the presents of others.” Kagome whispered. She covered it back up with the box lip and the sword fell back to sleep. She handed the box back to Sesshomaru and smiled. “A good sword.”
“Yes but in ways useless.” His face held nothing.
Kagome shook her head. “No, your Tensega is that of a healer. She wants not part in war. She has warmed your soul from the cold and dark that you so hardly wanted at a youth. The humans you disliked for reasons of te heart. You would not have Rin if not for her.” Kagome growled the last sentence and the great lord of once stepped back.
“You are right.” His voice was cold. He extended the second box to her and Kagome took it. Shippo scrambled out of her lap and Kagome sat it down. She lifted the lid and stared down at Tokijin.
“Grab it.” Sesshomaru growled. Inu Yasha grabbed Shippo and backed away from the sword. Koga backed away also.
Kagome wrapped her hand around the large handle and lifted the sword out pointing it at Sesshomaru. Dark treadles extended up the blade and out into the room.
Kagome placed it back in box as it started to hum. She placed the lid back on it and handed it back to Sesshomaru.
“Well?”
“A sword that longs for blood that has tasted much and is not stated. It makes me wonder what you did in feudal japan so long ago.” Kagome locked eyes with Sesshomaru. “But in truth I don’t want to know why it longs for the death of your brother since it was made.”
“You are strong in judging my swords. I have seen you with Inu Yasha’s sword, it is an honor to hold another weapon and not be rejected. You have held mine and it has not happened. Although there is but one sword the world has not seem in many centuries that there is a doubt you could hold so gently.” He grinned showing fangs.
“I don’t hold a sword to see if I can hold it and use it for what it want but to use it for what is right. It is the sword’s choice if it will have me as a user.” Kagome stood and growled in his face. Inu Yasha rushed forward to catch her but Kagome didn’t fall. Everyone held there breath, even Sesshomaru, waiting for Kagome to fall.
Kagome growled again and turned stomping off into the kitchen. Inu Yasha stumbled after her sitting Shippo down on the floor.
Kagome stood clutching the counter. Her breathing ragged.
“Kagome?” Inu Yasha asked. He stood behind her.
Kagome turned to face him and fell into him wrapping her arms around his torso. They stood there holding each other tightly.
“Come on.” Inu Yasha whispered.
Kagome nodded and Inu Yasha led her back to the living room. Sesshomaru had placed the boxes in the far corner and Koga was missing.
Koga came back into the room moments after Kagome sat back down on the couch. He held a box like that of Sesshomaru’s but this one was of stone.
“I come a wolf tribe. My sword holds their power.” He handed the box to her gently and Kagome looked at the box then back into Koga’s eyes. She lifted the lid and looked at the katana. It was thin but sharp and well taken care of. She looked at Koga once more before lifting it from the box. She held it so the tip faced to the wall. It hummed like the other swords had.
Koga smiled down at Kagome as his own sword recognized the woman.
Inu Yasha stepped forward to stand next to the wolf. “Once it was believed that a person’s sword or weapon chose their eternal mate. Four swords belonging to three different men have recognized you. In old time the men would battle to the death for your hand.” Kagome snapped her head to look up at the three men in front of her. Her mouth way dry all of a sudden.
“Personally I don’t want to fight to the death for you Kagome, but I would like the chance to court you.” Koga knelt down with his head bowed. Inu Yasha did the same.
“As would I.”
“I have a mate.” Sesshomaru’s voice came next. “Rin however will not touch my sword but I fear they will not respond like thy have to you. I must bow out for no Inu of a honorable line as of mine will betray his mate.”
Kagome nodded dumbly to the demon.
“There is one more sword that is to be tested now that you have had such a response to these.”
Koga and Inu Yasha stood smiling but they didn’t stay smiling their face turned solemn.
“What?” She asked wary.
“She can’t try. The seal can not be broke.” Inu Yasha muttered to his brother.
“She is only human. It will kill her.” Koga growled finally putting the pieces together.
“I am willing to try to see.” Sesshomaru growled.
The front door to the house opened and everyone was looking at them. Rin and Ayame walked in holding bags from the store.
“Koga do you have a pot I can use?” Ayame asked.
Kagome stood placing Koga’s sword back in the box and it on the couch. “I will not throw my life away for your entertainment, Sesshomaru. As for courting me you two.” She turned her anger towards Inu Yasha and Koga. “You may try but there is a wall around my heart that is as smooth as steady water and will not move.” She hated having to throw what she and Inu Yasha had obtained between them, but she was guessing this was a contest and she was a prize. And she was no prize to be won, for anyone.
She pushed herself past the demons and left towards the stairs. She walked up them and out of sight.
“She’s walking!” Rin gasped.
“Yes she is, but we have other things to do than gap at small details.” Sesshomaru growled. That woman would hold his fathers last sword. Even if it did kill the girl.
Koga growled and picked up his stone box. He replaced the cover and went back to his room. Sesshomaru of all people knew better than to bring the great sword of the Inu no Tashio into the world again, let alone force it on Kagome, a human.
Inu Yasha leaned against the couch and growled. Screw his brother. Screw Koga. Kagome was his and no one was going to hurt her. He stood in a quick movement and walked towards were Kagome had disappeared. Halfway up the stairs he smelt salt, blood, and....fear?
Kagome pulled her knees to her chest and fought back the tears trying to crash down. Men were jerks. She wasn’t a toy, she wasn’t a thing that belong to someone, and she sure as hell wasn’t someone that was going to risk her life for another’s fun. She had no idea what this great sword was but she felt that it was very bad the way the boys had been talking about it. Digging her nails deep into her flesh to bring her back kagome let out a whimper. Why did she have to say yes to Inu Yasha, why couldn’t he just leave her alone?
“Kagome?”
Kagome buried her face in her little shell and wanted to disappear. It didn’t happen though.
Inu Yasha touched Kagome’s arm and she jerked away from him. His heart stopped and he toyed again. “Kagome?”
The smell of salt became stronger as she lifted her head and looked at him. The pain was very clear in her eyes as they stared at him.
His throat tightened and he pulled her to him. Kagome huddled into his chest clinging to his shirt for dear life. Inu Yasha sat down and pulled her into his lap. Kagome continued to hold on.
R&R PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!Dark
Shippo looked at them. “We’re not trying to get rid of you hunny. But me and Inu are going to have...” Kagome looked for a good lie quickly. “A adult party. We’re going to have a few drinks and watch a movie so that we can have dinner later tonight.” Kagome smiled at Shippo. That actually sound like a good idea.Shippo smiled. He kissed Kagome bye and nodded to Inu Yasha before climbing back into the car.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~Now
The car pulled away from the curb and Inu yasha pulled Kagome up the stairs to her apartment. He unlocked the door and Kagome barely shut it as she was pulled in. She was pushed against the door and Inu Yasha pressed against her, his mouth taking hers. Kagome moaned and he took the chance to slip his tongue in, playing.
They stood pressed against the door for a moment before Kagome pushed Inu Yasha back and onto the couch. She straddled his legs and continued the kiss.
The couple groaned, however; as someone knocked on the door. Kagome dropped her head to Inu Yasha’s shoulder and pulled herself away from his body.
Whoever was at the door was impatient.
“Who is it?” Kagome called pressing her ear to the door. One down fall to no peep hole.
“I’m looking for Inu Yasha.” Kagome motioned for him to come to the door. She slipped on the chain as Inu Yasha reached the door.
“Who is it?” Inu Yasha asked.
“Just open the door mutt.” Inu Yasha took the chain from the door and Kagome looked at him. He paid no attention and opened the door to show a tall man. He had brown hair in a pony tail and the top of his head and fangs.
Kagome’s eyes looked over him quickly memorizing everything. He had claws and his coat had fur. By the look it was wolf. She looked at him and could feel his aura, it was hidden well but she could tell he was also a wolf demon. Unsure of who he was Kagome noticed he held a large duffle bag. She backed up and into the kitchen never taking her eyes from him.
“Koga, get in here.” Inu Yasha opened the door more and Koga stepped in. The door shut and Kagome heard the locks go into place. “Don’t you dare touch those steak knives.” Inu Yasha yelled into the kitchen.
Kagome growled, but slid one under her shirt at her back. The shirt was white and hide it well. She took a second from the rack and slid it her sock. She walked back into the living room to she the new arrival sitting in a chair. She stood behind Inu Yasha and glared at the man her features completely iced over.
“Kagome, this is Koga. Koga, Kagome.” Inu Yasha introduced. Koga smiled at her with a gleam in his eyes. Kagome nodded slightly with her head and nothing more.
Koga reached for the duffle back and tossed it in front of the couch Inu Yasha was sitting on.
Kagome’s brow rose as Inu Yasha motioned her to it. She knelt down and unzipped the bag.
Letting out a high squeal Kagome stripped herself of the steak knives and sat down happily taking out her original blades. As she unsheathed each one and tested each blade with her finger.
“Kagome, I thought I told you to leave the knives alone.” Inu Yasha growled watching her as she tossed them aside.
Kagome turned to him and stuck out her tongue before standing with a sword.
“If you break anything, I’m going to put you over my knee.” Inu Yasha growled again.
Kagome smiled and took a couple of well tamed slashes before twirling and ending with the tip of her blade at the hollow if Inu Yasha’s throat.
“I’d like to see you try.” She taunted. She sheathed the blade and kicked up the two long daggers dropping the sword. Kagome flicked the sheaths off the daggers and twirled.
“This is better than a stripper.” Koga relaxed. His arms moved behind his head and he leaned back in the chair.
Kagome looked over at InuYasha but continued like nothing was said.
“Kagome what do ya say about coming home with me and being my wife?” Kagome tripped on air and corrected herself like it was meant to happen. Inu Yasha coughed beside her and she smiled.
She slashed out at Koga and stared at him. The blood coming slowly from his cheek moments later.
“I think not.” She said coldly. Koga was stunned. Kagome stepped back and set down against the couch, she pulled out her armor. It was a little heavier but she could work with it. “I’m going out on a scout I’ll be back later.” She stood and left the room.
“Damn it Koga. I ought to let her kill you.” Inu Yasha growled wanting nothing more than to reach out and strangle the wolf. “Besides what about Ri? Aren’t you two going strong?”
“She walked out on me a few days ago.” Koga shrugged and wiped the blood away from his skin. He looked at the blood a minute and licked the red liquid from his hand. “She’s good.”
“Only the best.” Inu Yasha muttered still very pissed at Koga.
“The best huh? I though you and Sessh were.” Koga looked up at his friend.
Inu Yasha shook his head. “No, she could probably best even us.”
“I doubt that.” Koga jumped at Kagome’s voice behind him. He jumped from the chair to the floor. Inu Yasha looked up at her and grinned.
Kagome’s face was cold but she nodded slightly at him. Koga stared up at her as she stood behind the chair in the armor he had picked up. Kagome placed a hand on the back of the chair and swung herself over it bouncing as she landed.
“My chair.” Kagome smirked. Inu Yasha started laughing as Koga’s face dropped. One moment a cold person the next a happy person; this girl had problems, but still she was hot.
Koga righted himself and stood taking a seat next to Inu Yasha.
“If you want to come Inu Yasha your welcome to, can’t stop you. But if you need to find me I’ll be somewhere over by Chinatown. Anyone you want me to check up on before I go?”
“No there isn’t. But if you wait about twenty minuets I’ll go with you.”
“What are you going to go do over by Chinatown! That’s like the dark side.” Koga stuttered.
“Your point?” Kagome glared at him. That was her home.
“Wait a minute......You’re the ghost!” Koga looked between Inu Yasha and Kagome.
“I say again; YOUR POINT?” Kagome growled leaning forward.
Koga’s mouth dropped. He had heard of her. She had even left him a note once when he was young to watch out. After that note he stopped the gang life and the killing for fun. Ya sure he was rich but every boy needs to have his fun.
“I’ll go get on my fire rat.” Inu Yasha stood up. Koga usually wasn’t scared of anything but he was cowering to Kagome. It was entertaining in a way.
After looking for half-an-hour, Inu Yasha finally found the ancient robes. The red material was a comfort. He grew up wearing only these robes. Only when the times started to change into modern wear did he retire them for more of a keepsake purpose. He walked back into the and pulled his own sword from the black bag that had been emptied.
“I figured it was better to not touch it.” Kagome said bored.
“Ya.” Inu Yasha fastened it to his waist and flexed his claws. “It feels different. I feel like it’s war all over again.”
“You are seriously going out.” Koga was stunned. Inu Yasha, Sesshomaru and he had stayed in contact fairly. His own wolf pelts were safely in a vault hidden from the world. However; deep down the thing he wanted most was long gone; his pack. He was shocked that Inu Yasha was standing before him as if they were back in feudal Japan.
“I told Kagome I would go with her a few times. I think going in the day time would be best until I get use to the streets more.” Kagome nodded with agreement. It wasn’t safe at night especially if you don’t know the streets.
“I’d tag along but I don’t have my own armor.” Koga sighed. He wanted to go too.
Kagome looked at the wolf feeling the waves of depression come off him one after another. She let out a long sigh. She didn’t much care for the wolf but he seemed like a good ally and potential friend. “You got street clothes on you?” she muttered not believing she was doing this.
“Ya, in my car. We always carry a change of clothes.” Koga looked up at her then to Inu Yasha who shrugged.
“Go change. Hurry up im tired of waiting. But if you fall behind your left behind. And I say stay you had better stay.” Kagome growled. She couldn’t believe she was doing this. Koga nodded dumbly and jogged out the door down to his car.
“Do I want to know?” Inu Yasha asked staring at the closed front door.
“No.” Kagome sighed. “Besides I don’t even know.”
Koga came back and changed in the bathroom. He came back out wearing baggy jeans and a worn shirt. Kagome looked him over memorizing him and the way he moved. Koga walked across the room to Inu Yasha and Kagome.
“Will this work?” he turned with his arms out.
“Ya I guess. I mean I fought in street clothes for most of my life.” Kagome however noticed that Koga had no weapon except his claws and fangs. She stood staring at him for a moment. The streets would be very unfriendly to him and being with her it wouldn’t be much better. Sighing for what seemed like the hundredth time that day she unbuckled one of her swords. She handed it over to him. Koga took it confused but played with it and finally got it to fit his waist. Kagome nodded and headed out of the apartment and down to the garage. A green neon painted car was parked to the left of the elevator as they exited. She guessed it was Koga’s. Her black bike was parked in the corner covered with shadows. She loaded it and waited for the other two it get ready.
Inu Yasha walked over to what Kagome had thought was a closet or some type of shelter and pulled out his keys. He unlocked the door and it opened revealing a small room. Six bikes. All different types, sat inside.
“I’m more of a car person, but I guess these might come in handy.” He pulled one out and passed it to Koga. Pulling out another, Inu Yasha shut the door and loaded his bike. Kagome watched as both men pulled on the helmets that were attached to the handle bars. She pulled hers on and started the bike.
Three bikes thundered to life and raced out of the underground area onto the streets. Kagome sped up her bike doing a wheelie before landing and rushing forward. Inu Yasha and Koga leaned over their bikes and raced after her.
Inu Yasha was impressed. She had been on the machine only once and was a master at it. He watched his love flow in and out between cars with ease. She was just like a ghost but he still could only see an angel. Koga was following her closely and InuYasha could only feel the jealously build in his chest. Kagome was his.
Kagome turned and he and Koga almost missed it. He growled and sped up hoping to get up closer to her to not loose sight but they were already going fairly fast. Inu Yasha tapped the side of his helmet twice and turned on the visor screen and the communication intercom with the other helmets.
“Kagome, slow down or your doing to crash.” He growled.
Kagome jumped at the sudden noise and almost hit a car. She growled and looked over her shoulder at both men following her.
“Tap the side of your helmet twice.” Kagome did as he said.
“What?!” She growled speeding up again and getting back into the rhythm. She led the onto the highway and weaved between the heavy traffic.
“Slow down.” Inu Yasha said again. Kagome flipped him off and a car honked at her. Koga’s laughing echoed around the group as they road on.
Kagome weaved to the right quickly and exited the highway.
Inu Yasha growled and so did Koga. They quickly weaved over after the woman.
“Damn it woman, warn us.” Koga all but yelled.
“I told you to keep up.” Kagome’s voice was cold. Inu Yasha was shocked now what he thought about it her voice had been cold the few words she had said.
“Kagome what’s wrong?” He asked. The communication line was silent. “Kagome?”
“I’m fine.” Her voice was still cold. This time though he saw Koga shiver in front of him.
“No your not. What are you thinking about?” He pressed as he pulled up beside her at a red light.
“Nothing.” She stared ahead not even looking at her surroundings.
“Tell us, please.” Inu Yasha wasn’t going to drop it.
“Fine, if you want to know so damn much. Look behind us.” She took off as the cars in front of them started moving with the green light.
Koga and Inu Yasha looked back. No one was there. With the exception of a couple of race looking cars, a bike, and a few normal looking cars. They took off after Kagome. She was already a block ahead of them.
“What are we suppose to see?” Koga asked trying to catch up but failing to get anywhere back near the girl.
“Those two cars were part of the biggest local gang on this side of town. Both belong to the Raiders. Can’t say they like me much. I’d do something about them but I can’t find the leader. Only the higher ranked people know who it is and the lower are the only ones I can find.” Kagome turned again but this time Inu Yasha and Koga could follow. She took another turn and slowed down so her companions could catch up.
Inu Yasha slowed down beside Kagome and Koga on her other side.
The cars came around the corner in front of them and stopped. One person climbed out of the window of the car to their right.
“Aren’t you a little far from home?” The sneer in his voice held a accent that was very close to Russian. Kagome moved a little forward.
She flipped her visor. “No not really.” She called back.
“Oh really, what could a Cin like you want down here?”
“Cin?” Inu Yasha repeated.
“It’s a street term used for the rich or high class.” Kagome whispered.
“Oh.”
“That’s our business.” Kagome shot back. Out of the corner of her eyes she could see curious people looking out the windows of the run down buildings. Most of the windows were either broken or boarded up, that could hide anyone wanting to shoot them. Not good.
“Well its ours now.” The man sneered again. He couldn’t be more than a few months over driving age. The car he drove had to have been stolen and redone. She smiled and snickered.
“Sorry boys, can’t tell it’s a secret.” Kagome laughed and leaned over her bike her arms crossed on the glass shield on the bike.
“A secret huh?” The man smiled and looked over at the second car. The person had yet to get out of the car but Kagome thought it was a girl. “So you won’t mind if we follow you around till you leave our borders, will you?”
Kagome looked back at her tag alongs. They shrugged and she turned back around. “I guess but can you keep up?” She asked.
“Can you?” He shot back grinning.
Kagome flipped her visor. Blue light flashed across it and flickered showing a map of the state, then the city, then their area. Kagome looked back at Inu Yasha and could tell he was smiling.
She revved the bike and hit the break spinning her bike around. She let go and was off. Inu Yasha and Koga right behind her. The cars thundering after them and the race was on.
Inu Yasha and Koga stuck beside Kagome fairly well, although they had two cars on their tail they had the better machine.
Swerving in and out of each other Kagome led them farther into the area. Two more cars joined in the chase. Taking a turn Kagome led them into an alley and what looked to be a dead end. The cars rushed by but the screeching of the tires made it known they were not stopping the hunt. Inu Yasha and Koga looked at each other as Kagome slowed down and turned into a few small walk way. The bikes fit in with an inch or two to spare. Kagome turned off her bike and pushed her way down the space. Inu Yasha and Koga followed her confused. They came to a metal door. Kagome knocked lightly on it.
Voices from the alley echoed to them and Kagome knocked again. The door slid open silently and Kagome angled the bike in. She motioned for Inu Yasha and Koga to hurry. They walked the machines in and the door closed leaving them in pitch darkness.
“I think they went this way but there’s no way.” Someone called. Kagome let out a breath she had been holding and pulled off the helmet when the voices stopped. All four engines started and the cars left.
Somewhere in the dark Kagome heard the hammer of a gun being pulled. “Wanna tell me what’s going on and how the hell you know about this place?” It was a mans voice.
More guns were cocked. Inu Yasha tensed but knew Kagome had brought them to a save area. Beside him though, Koga was reaching for the sword at his hip.
“My name is forsaken. My soul is an eagle and only the moon will ever catch me.” Kagome recited. “I walk in the darkness and all the world fears me.”
“LIGHTS” The man yelled. Florescent lights flared and Inu Yasha, along with Koga, were blinded. “Shadow.” A man walked over to Kagome and kissed her cheek. “I see you got new gear.” The man looked over the bike.
“In a way.” Kagome smiled. Inu Yasha finally got his sight back and wished he hadn’t. More than 50 people surrounded them on all sides. Each holding a gun or two.
“I’m guessing Raiders again?” Kagome kicked the sand in place and unloaded the bike.
“Ya. We went from two ta four within10 minutes.” Kagome set her helmet on the seat and followed her friend to the couch. Two seats opened up and she flopped down.
“And these two? Friends?”
“Yes. However I think the guns were a bit much.” The man beside her waved his hand and the guns were put up. Inu Yasha relaxed and Koga moved his hand away from the sword.
“Looks like Cins.”
“They are.” Kagome looked over her companions. “But, they’re on my side.”
Inu Yasha got off his bike and lifted the helmet. His silver hair falling down his back. Gasps followed through the large area. Then the whispers started.
Inu Yasha turned to Kagome confused. Koga then took his helmet off also and added to the noise.
“So you just went up pretty high after they caught you.”
Kagome snorted and crossed her arms. “They didn’t catch me, I had to fucking wait for the damn cops to show then one guy said I was a killer and blah, blah, blah, blah.” Kagome groaned out. A ring of laugher rain out over coming the whispers. “But Takashi offered me a job for a place to crash, food, and some clothes. Said yes. Couple nights later found one of the fox family murdered and adopted a son. Lets see, oh I showed off in front of a whole store. In the mall.” Kagome gasped. More laughs rang out.
“They got you into the mall?” Someone from the side shouted.
“Twice.” Kagome wiggles two fingers in the air.
“Kagome? Who are these people?” Inu yasha spun around looking at the lined walls of people.
“These are more people like me.” Kagome stood up and walked to him and Koga. “These people are the other protectors of your stupid state.”
“And they’re not family or friend?” Koga stood next to Inu Yasha staring.
“No.” Kagome shook her head. “It’s a weakness.”
“Just a weakness? Kagome you’ve lived your life in the dark. You could have had a family, but instead you say it’s a weakness!?” Inu Yasha marched forward and grabbed her upper arms. “I don’t get you. Help me out. Please.” He pulled her to him and held back the tears.
“I want to change.” Kagome whispered so he could only hear. He held her tighter and nodded slightly.
Kagome pushed away after a moment and turned around. “I’m leaving.” Murmuring erupted around the building.
“What?” The man who Kagome was so familiar with was outraged. Even though Inu Yasha didn’t know who he was he could tell there might be one or two problems.
“I’m leaving. I have a chance with Inu Yasha at what I want. Plus if some of us get higher in the world then we will make the world only better.” Kagome let out a long sigh. “I’m not going to keep killing and hoping to raise ourselves up. I’m making my own move.” Her eyes glowed with power and something else, something that was not.....human.
“We won’t let you turn into one of them.” The man growled.
“You will not stop me.” Kagome growled. He body popping with energy. Many stepped back and pressed against the walls to get away.
“Nothing short of killing you ever would stop you unless you found out the hard way. Since letting you go out on your own higher up will change you into a Cin, I will not let you go.”
“You can’t not stop me.” Kagome stood straight and tall. Her shoulders were tight.
“So be it.” The man rushed forward at a speed that could hardly be seen. Kagome jumped up and bent her knees. The man stopped in front of Inu Yasha with a look that could kill. He jumped after Kagome and soon the flashes of clothes, weapons, and skin were racing around the room. Inu Yasha moved back to his bike that was parked next to a wall. Koga went with him trying to keep up with the fight with no luck.
The floor was clear and the walls lined. The room was silent all except for the sounds made from the two opponents.
Blood rained down a little off center of the room. Kagome skid to a stop on the dirt floor and spun her swords around in a circle changing their positions. One sword was tightly in her mouth gripped with a firm jaw. The man stopped a few yards away holding some type of weapon. The long metal pipe had a chain welded on and at the end of that held an iron ball with spikes. It was a poor attempt at the real thing but the danger was still strong.
Inu Yasha leaned in to the person next to him. “What’s his name?” He whispered.
“Tiger’s eye.” The teen age girl whispered. Her red hair dull and limp. She turned to look at Inu Yasha. “Who’s your friend?” She asked.
Wolf. Inu Yasha thought. His nose twitched. “Koga.” Both were brought back to the battle at the sound of metal hitting metal echoed through the area.
Tiger’s eye was attacking Kagome swinging his weapon wildly. Kagome held up a defense but was being pushed back slowly. Her boot was sliced across the calf. The dark material gleamed and Inu Yasha couldn’t tell if it was blood or not. He focused his sense of smell on her but Kagome only held the scent of flowers and the woods, much like his own. He pushed his nose more wondering why he couldn’t smell blood, maybe there was none.
Kagome hissed taking a step back and placing the more of her weight on the leg Inu Yasha was concerned about. Inu Yasha’s eyes widened as blood oozed out thickly. Kagome took another step back and leaned in to her defense as her opponent came face to face.
She lowered her arms slowly and twisted her neck, the sword in her mouth whistling at it sliced out. Tiger’s eye stepped back and Kagome took her turn to start attacking. Her attacks were random and strong. Her opponent could only continue to step back, his weapon held out in front of him blocking on few of the attacks.
Kagome thrust out with one of her swords and caught one of the chain links on the blade. She twisted her weapon in the chain and pulled it from the hands of its holder.
Her other sword slashing up across his throat. Blood trickled from the cut but Kagome slashed out again and caught the man’s cheek. Again she attacked with the same sword, catching his arm.
She stopped attacking and grabbed the sword from her mouth She held the two swords in her left hand the other holding the sword still wrapped in her opponents weapon.
“I should kill you.” She growled. A growl that was anything but human let alone female. “I won’t though. Hear my words; I belong to no one. I’m leaving and anyone who wants to join me is welcome to but if you think to challenge me you will not be spared. Don’t come looking for me.” Half the words were to the people standing around the walls. The other half directed to the man cowering on the ground. She turned and walked away tossing her arm out to the side to rid herself of the weapon tangled around her own.
The room was dead silent. The woman next to Inu Yasha stepped forward and knelt down on the dirt floor. “What are your orders?” She asked head bowed.
“Stand Ayame.” Kagome sheathed her swords and stood in front of the woman. She looked around the room and glared.
“Lets go. I hear someone calling us.” Kagome smiled at Inu Yasha and he smiled back. They loaded the three bikes and Kagome motioned for Ayame to join Koga. They would make a nice couple, Kagome thought as someone opened the front door leading to the road.
Tiger’s eye bowed his head in defeat. No one said a word at the three bikes left.
“That’s not what I thought that would go like.” Kagome admitted as they raced along.
“No?” Koga laughed through the intercom.
“No.” Kagome’s voice was calm. Inu Yasha was silent. He kept doing over the fight in his mind.
“Inu Yasha?” Koga asked pulling up next to him.
“Huh? What?” Inu Yasha looked over at him.
Kagome looked back but continued on. “What are you thinking?”
Inu Yasha weaved and came back to Koga’s side. “Nothing.”
“Liar.” Kagome coughed. Koga and Inu Yasha laughed.
“Nothing really.” Inu Yasha defended.
“Whatever.” Kagome smirked and turned. She came to a screeching stop.
The road was blocked by cars, bikes and trucks. Cars were turning to avoid the blockade. Kagome’s bike was angled and she stared down the road. Inu Yasha and Koga angled their bikes also. Someone pointed at them and it seemed like the world was closing in around from the front. Kagome looked around at the lines of people. The Raiders had been busy to get this together.
“What do we do?” Inu Yasha asked.
“We can’t go back to the hideout. But it’s going to be hard to escape all this and get back to the apartment or the office. Any place close to here we can hide for a few hours?” Kagome looked at the wall as it moved forwards. Car seemed to stop and turn avoiding the area all together.
“My place but it’s like 10 miles away and we have to get on the freeway.” Koga chimed in.
“Lets go. We don’t have much of a choice. Tell Ayame to get on with me.” Inu Yasha ordered.
“No Koga, you lead me and Inu Yasha will bring up the back and cover you two so we can take the hits.” Kagome interjected.
“Good point.” Inu Yasha nodded to Kagome and she nodded back.
Koga squealed the bike around and sped off into on coming traffic. Kagome and Inu Yasha right behind followed by the gang much further back.
“If you weave they can’t shoot us as easily.” Kagome spoke out. The small group weaved between cars and back and forth. Kagome looked back and saw the gang following them, the cars and trucks having a bit more of a hard time. However; the bikes zoomed through traffic as cleanly as they did.
“Pick it up boys, we got chasers.” Inu Yasha looked back at Kagome’s words. He swore and pushed the bike on. Koga also pushed ahead and kagome looked back again. There were what? Three maybe four bikes, seven or eight trucks and twelve or thirteen cars. Kagome zoomed off to the left breaking away from her friends.
The most part of the followers chased after her. She weaved in and out of traffic.
“Kagome?” Inu Yasha panicked.
“I’m fine, keep going im about a block to the left of you there’s a intersection ahead of me im hoping to get the large vehicles caught up in.” Kagome looked on ahead and smiled at the long line of waiting people. The light was green but people were backed up for awhile. She headed straight down a path of cars. Horns blared around her and Kagome turned right in between two turning cars. The bikes following skid to a stop but continued when it was safe to go. As for the other bunch they were being trapped in by each other and other people. Kagome turned again and raced leaned down over the bike to catch up with her friends.
“Kagome, get on the freeway when you can and take one seventy third.” Koga instructed.
Kagome raced up onto the exit and she could barely make out their shapes ahead of her. Engines raced at her back and Kagome raced to stay ahead of then and out of gun fire, if it ever started.
“Keep doing, your in my sight.” Kagome revved again for the second time and shifted into the final gear.
“How good are you at that bike Kagome?” Inu Yasha asked.
“Doing, fine.” kagome tossed herself to the right and past another car.
“Good, now,” He let out a sigh. “There is a yellow button covered on the left handle, on it is NOS. If you use it be in last gear and be ready to weave as fast and hard as you can.”
“Ok.” Kagome took note of it. An overhead sign read they still had another 5 miles till the exit.
“Kagome?” Koga asked.
“What?” She growled, weaving again and getting a honk from the driver.
“Use the NOS when I say.”
Kagome was about to ask why but she looked further up the road and saw the exit empty. Construction. Crap, she couldn’t go through gravel yet, she wasn’t that good. “You got to be kidding me.”
“Now.” Kagome flipped the switch and pressed the button. She was thankful her helmet was on but the force of the open wind was harsh. Her weapons sliced at the air but also added another force against the wind.
Cars flew by her and she managed to exit with her friends. A semi-sharp turn came at the end of the ramp and Kagome let out a string of curses. Inu Yasha and Koga both looked at her as kagome skid low to the ground he knee half a centimeter from the ground. Kagome tipped it more so she wouldn’t crash and drug her knee across the gravel. She ignored it as the leather and skin were worn away. She cleared the turn and followed the other two down the road.
Koga turned into a under ground parking area and the darkness hid them as their followers came down the street. Kagome turned off the bike and kicked the stand into place. The bike leaned to the side and she braced herself on her bad leg. Inu Yasha parked his own bike against the wall in the shadows and was at her side as she began falling. Ayame took the bike and placed it next to Inu Yasha’s as he carried her to stand next to Koga.
“She needs attention now.” Inu Yasha growled. Kagome closed her eyes hearing and feeling the blood start pumping and leaving her body. Her head fell to his chest.
Ayame jogged over to Kagome and looked at the knee. “You can see the bone, she’ll be out for 2 weeks at the least. Month at the most.” Inu Yasha growled again.
Koga lead them to a stairwell and up into a large two story house. The outside looked old and falling apart but inside it was almost a mansion. A crystal chandelier hung above them as Inu Yasha placed Kagome on the table. He held her up with a hand on her arm, and inspected the damage. In truth Kagome needed to go to the hospital but Inu Yasha didn’t want her any where but his side. And to get her there could risk her life even more.
“Don’t die on me.” He whispered.
Koga tossed his keys next to Kagome and rushed into the rooms out of sight. There wasn’t much skin to stitch back together but they had to do something.
Ayame can back holding a dish towel that was wet. She held a bowl in her other hand full of water. Inu Yasha took off the leather boot gently after laying Kagome down on the long table. Inu Yasha growled at the sharp scent of blood A good amount of it had pooled in the bottom of the shoe and more dripped down to the hard-wood floor.
Koga came back while Ayame cleaned the wound. He carried a needle, threat, gauze and tape. It was the best they could do for now.
Two hours later.
Kagome groaned, her head hurt, and her leg was numb. Thoughts of earlier ran through her head and she tossed the blankets away to show the tightly wrapped area of her knee. She remembered a few words in the conversation of her friends but it was all...fuzzy. The room was dark and the curtains hiding the world from her.
The room was painted a hunter green. The light above her was almost a chandelier but shorter and closer to the ceiling. Two doors were on the far right. Kagome was guessing it was a closet since a single door was on the wall next to it and a bit closer to the bed. A oak dresser was in front of the bed about 4 feet holding a handful of picture frames. Above them a flat screen TV and speakers hanging from the wall. The bed was four poster and a size smaller then Inu Yasha’s.
It was a nice room all in all. Kagome laid back down and pulled the covers back over her legs. She was so tired.
Inu Yasha crept into Koga’s room. His friend had insisted on putting Kagome in his bed with the excuse that the guest room didn’t have sheets for the bed. It was a bad lie on Koga’s part but Inu Yasha didn’t push the matter.
Kagome had been out for almost 6 hours and although she was fine he couldn’t help but worry.
He silently shut the door behind him and looked towards the bed. The covers had been ruffled and were no longer smooth like the last time he had come to check on the girl. Inu Yasha smoothed them out and sat down on the edge of the bed brushing a stray bit of hair from his love’s face.
Kagome whimpered in her sleep and nuzzled his hand as it brushed her cheek. Her eyes slowly cracked open. Inu Yasha smiled down at her. Smiling back kagome snuggled into the covers more trying hard not to shiver at the cold pressing at her skin.
“How do you feel?”
“Don’t ask.” She moaned. A hand moved up from the sheets and pressed to her forehead.
“Pain?” Inu Yasha whispered. She had lost a lot of blood and her senses were probably messed up he didn’t want to make the headache worse.
“Ya.” Kagome nodded to him and hissed at the pain throbbed against the sides of her skull.
“I’ll be right back then.” Inu Yasha stood and crept out of the room to fetch her some aspirin and water.
Shippo sat with Ayame, Sango and Rin on the couch. Miroku and Sesshomaru were at the kitchen table with Koga talking. No one seemed to look as Inu Yasha passed them to get water and the pain medication.
“Is she awake?” Koga asked as Inu Yasha poured water from a pitcher in the fridge into a glass.
“Ya, but she’s out of it. Her spell dropped so don’t let anyone in the room if you can stop them.” Inu Yasha looked at the table and let out a tired sigh. He walked back towards the room and slipped back in.
Kagome was sitting up against the head board un wrapping her torso.
“What are you doing?” Inu Yasha placed the items he carried on the dresser and lunged to her side.
“These aren’t needed.” The wrapping fell away to show scars and the newest bullet wound healed and scared over.
“That’s not possible.” Inu Yasha gasped.
“I’m not human. Im a miko. It runs in my blood. I heal almost as fast as a demon.” She tossed the bandages to the side and leaned back closing her eyes.
“Kagome.” Inu Yasha let out and sigh and sat on the side of the bed.
“I see my spell has dropped.” Inu Yasha nodded barely making out the dark scars in the dark. He stood and turned on a light. Behind him Kagome hissed and hid her face with the covers. Inu Yasha retrieved the items he had brought and handed them to Kagome. She accepted the after a second.
Downing the aspirin and water she handed him back to glass.
“So if you heal fast how long do you thing it will take you to heal you missing skin from you knee and the shredded mussels?”
“I don’t know...about a week.” Kagome looked at the ceiling. She heard him faintly thank the gods.
Inu Yasha leaned forwards and kissed her cheek before standing. “Everyone is here, we’ve all been worried.”
“Everyone?”
“Shippo, Sesshomaru, Rin, Koga, Ayame, Miroku, and Sango.”
“Oh, everyone.” Kagome tossed the blanket to the side and turned to get off the bed.
Inu Yasha grabbed a robe from the closet and offered it to Kagome as she stood slowly. “I’d help but I know you don’t want it.” He smiled and she had to smile back at him.
“Your right.” Kagome took the robe and pulled it around her bare form. Tying the sash tightly in a knot she stood more firmly using less of her bad knee.
Inu Yasha sighed and went to her side and wrapped an arm around her waist. He helped her walk to the door and opened it for the two of them. They walked out of the room and all eyes were on them.
“Ayame, I need that tea.” Kagome said. Her voice held no note of pain or emotion at that.
Ayame hopped off the couch and bowed before heading for the door.
“I’ll go with her.” Rin said. From the kitchen Sesshomaru nodded and the two left. Shippo was leaning, and sort of holding, on the back on the couch watching the two as they stood in the middle of the room.
Kagome ignored the stuff around her and waited for a little of her strength to come back.
“Come on Miss. I-have-to-get-up-and-not-stay-in-bed-to-heal.” Inu Yasha lead her to the couch to sit. Kagome took the seat and let out a sigh. Shippo watched them for a second before crawling into Kagome’s lap and crying.
Kagome watched the kit and was utterly clueless at what to do, but settled to place her hands on him gently and let the kit know she was here. The place was silent except for Shippo’s muffled crying.
“It’s nice to see you well.” Sango smiled finally breaking the silence. Kagome smiled at her and was thankful she could keep the cover spell going even if it was tiering.
Sesshomaru, Miroku and Koga can into the living room slowly. Kagome closed her eyes and relaxed trying to not use much energy.
A hand touched her shoulder and Kagome know who it was.
“Drop your spell Kagome.” Sesshomaru whispered. All eyes turned to the cold hearted demon as he said her name.
“My pain is for no one to see, for you to have looked upon me without it is enough.” Kagome murmured. Shippo looked up at his mother and pulled the robe tighter into his small fists not wanting to let go and maybe lose her like his real mother.
“It will drain you of everything until you die or sleep. Drop it and use that strength for healing.” The demon lord pressed.
“I will drop it in privacy without innocents around.” Kagome said stronger.
“You are as stubborn as any demon.” Koga laughed and the room seem to lose much of the heaviness.
“You are hiding a great deal.” Shippo sniffed from Kagome’s lap. “Please, Kagome, let us see.”
“I have heard similar words to those once. It seems so long ago and yet it only happened a few days ago.” She laughed lightly and shook her head.
Inu Yasha sat beside her legs looking up at her. “We are your friend’s don’t hide from us.” He defended.
“Your right. You are.” Kagome took a deep breath and focused dropping the spell so tightly wrapped around her. The room was silent again. The hand on her shoulder left and Sesshomaru moved away. Kagome looked back at him and he disappeared into the kitchen, out of sight.
Kagome looked back at Shippo as the kit traced scars on her hands. He traced them up her arms pushing the sleeve ever higher exposing more as he played. Sango’s hand reached out and Kagome turned her head as her friends fingers brushed down the scar on her eye.
Sesshomaru walked around the couch holding something. Kagome turned and watched him as he stood in front of her. He offered her a cherry wood box with painted designs. Kagome lifted the lid.
A long sword with sheath beside it lay in a nest of black satin.
Kagome looked back up at the man. “May I?” She asked wanting nothing more than to hold the great sword in her hand.
“You may.” Sesshomaru answered.
Kagome wrapped her right hand around the handle and lifted it with ease. The sword pulse and hummed in her hand but didn’t not reject her caring touch. Energy spilled out of the blade in fine treadles of light creeping up her hand and wrist. They played along her skin feeding her energy. Soon, Kagome felt well rested and healed. The numbness of her leg being chased away by the energy.
Kagome place the sword back in the box and leaned down to kiss the blade. No one made a comment. The sword hummed at her and Kagome smiled.
“I would be more than to make you sing again my friend but not now in the presents of others.” Kagome whispered. She covered it back up with the box lip and the sword fell back to sleep. She handed the box back to Sesshomaru and smiled. “A good sword.”
“Yes but in ways useless.” His face held nothing.
Kagome shook her head. “No, your Tensega is that of a healer. She wants not part in war. She has warmed your soul from the cold and dark that you so hardly wanted at a youth. The humans you disliked for reasons of te heart. You would not have Rin if not for her.” Kagome growled the last sentence and the great lord of once stepped back.
“You are right.” His voice was cold. He extended the second box to her and Kagome took it. Shippo scrambled out of her lap and Kagome sat it down. She lifted the lid and stared down at Tokijin.
“Grab it.” Sesshomaru growled. Inu Yasha grabbed Shippo and backed away from the sword. Koga backed away also.
Kagome wrapped her hand around the large handle and lifted the sword out pointing it at Sesshomaru. Dark treadles extended up the blade and out into the room.
Kagome placed it back in box as it started to hum. She placed the lid back on it and handed it back to Sesshomaru.
“Well?”
“A sword that longs for blood that has tasted much and is not stated. It makes me wonder what you did in feudal japan so long ago.” Kagome locked eyes with Sesshomaru. “But in truth I don’t want to know why it longs for the death of your brother since it was made.”
“You are strong in judging my swords. I have seen you with Inu Yasha’s sword, it is an honor to hold another weapon and not be rejected. You have held mine and it has not happened. Although there is but one sword the world has not seem in many centuries that there is a doubt you could hold so gently.” He grinned showing fangs.
“I don’t hold a sword to see if I can hold it and use it for what it want but to use it for what is right. It is the sword’s choice if it will have me as a user.” Kagome stood and growled in his face. Inu Yasha rushed forward to catch her but Kagome didn’t fall. Everyone held there breath, even Sesshomaru, waiting for Kagome to fall.
Kagome growled again and turned stomping off into the kitchen. Inu Yasha stumbled after her sitting Shippo down on the floor.
Kagome stood clutching the counter. Her breathing ragged.
“Kagome?” Inu Yasha asked. He stood behind her.
Kagome turned to face him and fell into him wrapping her arms around his torso. They stood there holding each other tightly.
“Come on.” Inu Yasha whispered.
Kagome nodded and Inu Yasha led her back to the living room. Sesshomaru had placed the boxes in the far corner and Koga was missing.
Koga came back into the room moments after Kagome sat back down on the couch. He held a box like that of Sesshomaru’s but this one was of stone.
“I come a wolf tribe. My sword holds their power.” He handed the box to her gently and Kagome looked at the box then back into Koga’s eyes. She lifted the lid and looked at the katana. It was thin but sharp and well taken care of. She looked at Koga once more before lifting it from the box. She held it so the tip faced to the wall. It hummed like the other swords had.
Koga smiled down at Kagome as his own sword recognized the woman.
Inu Yasha stepped forward to stand next to the wolf. “Once it was believed that a person’s sword or weapon chose their eternal mate. Four swords belonging to three different men have recognized you. In old time the men would battle to the death for your hand.” Kagome snapped her head to look up at the three men in front of her. Her mouth way dry all of a sudden.
“Personally I don’t want to fight to the death for you Kagome, but I would like the chance to court you.” Koga knelt down with his head bowed. Inu Yasha did the same.
“As would I.”
“I have a mate.” Sesshomaru’s voice came next. “Rin however will not touch my sword but I fear they will not respond like thy have to you. I must bow out for no Inu of a honorable line as of mine will betray his mate.”
Kagome nodded dumbly to the demon.
“There is one more sword that is to be tested now that you have had such a response to these.”
Koga and Inu Yasha stood smiling but they didn’t stay smiling their face turned solemn.
“What?” She asked wary.
“She can’t try. The seal can not be broke.” Inu Yasha muttered to his brother.
“She is only human. It will kill her.” Koga growled finally putting the pieces together.
“I am willing to try to see.” Sesshomaru growled.
The front door to the house opened and everyone was looking at them. Rin and Ayame walked in holding bags from the store.
“Koga do you have a pot I can use?” Ayame asked.
Kagome stood placing Koga’s sword back in the box and it on the couch. “I will not throw my life away for your entertainment, Sesshomaru. As for courting me you two.” She turned her anger towards Inu Yasha and Koga. “You may try but there is a wall around my heart that is as smooth as steady water and will not move.” She hated having to throw what she and Inu Yasha had obtained between them, but she was guessing this was a contest and she was a prize. And she was no prize to be won, for anyone.
She pushed herself past the demons and left towards the stairs. She walked up them and out of sight.
“She’s walking!” Rin gasped.
“Yes she is, but we have other things to do than gap at small details.” Sesshomaru growled. That woman would hold his fathers last sword. Even if it did kill the girl.
Koga growled and picked up his stone box. He replaced the cover and went back to his room. Sesshomaru of all people knew better than to bring the great sword of the Inu no Tashio into the world again, let alone force it on Kagome, a human.
Inu Yasha leaned against the couch and growled. Screw his brother. Screw Koga. Kagome was his and no one was going to hurt her. He stood in a quick movement and walked towards were Kagome had disappeared. Halfway up the stairs he smelt salt, blood, and....fear?
Kagome pulled her knees to her chest and fought back the tears trying to crash down. Men were jerks. She wasn’t a toy, she wasn’t a thing that belong to someone, and she sure as hell wasn’t someone that was going to risk her life for another’s fun. She had no idea what this great sword was but she felt that it was very bad the way the boys had been talking about it. Digging her nails deep into her flesh to bring her back kagome let out a whimper. Why did she have to say yes to Inu Yasha, why couldn’t he just leave her alone?
“Kagome?”
Kagome buried her face in her little shell and wanted to disappear. It didn’t happen though.
Inu Yasha touched Kagome’s arm and she jerked away from him. His heart stopped and he toyed again. “Kagome?”
The smell of salt became stronger as she lifted her head and looked at him. The pain was very clear in her eyes as they stared at him.
His throat tightened and he pulled her to him. Kagome huddled into his chest clinging to his shirt for dear life. Inu Yasha sat down and pulled her into his lap. Kagome continued to hold on.
