Chapter 17

 

Homecoming was this Friday. This Friday. Not next Friday. This Friday.

 

Lord almighty.

 

It had been along while. Inu looked back at Kagome. She still didn't sit with him unless she had to. At least he had gotten her out of her black streak. She was wearing a deep green sweater that hung off her shoulders, and hung around her arms beautifully. It made her look like a princess from the renaissance with the long drop cuff sleeves. Her shoulders were bear smooth skin, a necklace accenting her collar bones and neck.

 

He hadn't remembered her wearing any jewelry, unless you count her cuffs and black bracelets. It was a damn good change. Sango even liked it.

 

He had to get money from Kouga for her dress, he'd do that today. He'd been looking with his brother for a dress for Kagome. He had found one but it was more for prom. Maybe he could buy it now then just have it.

 

Miroku had the money for it already- Kouga would have it today. Inu made sure of that yesterday. He turned back to the teacher, and wrote down some notes quickly from the board. This class was taking forever.

 

He waited for the bell patiently, and then after that he waited for Kagome to pack up and get the hell out of dodge. He caught her hip as she walked out of the door. His lips softly touched her forehead. “I heard about your brother honey. That's great.”

 

“Yeah they said he could go home either tomorrow or Friday if not.” She leaned against him, her arms curling around his waist. Kikyou glared silently from the other side of the hall.

 

“Tramp.” Kikyou called down the hall. No one paid attention to her. Kagome laid her head on Inu's shoulder and smiled.

 

“Love you baby.”

 

“Love you too.” He said right as they were passing Kikyou. She glared.

 

Inu kissed Kagome's fore head again. His eyes scanned the crowd. “I have a few things to do during free period. I'll be out by the tree later if that's alright with you.”

 

“Yeah, go ahead. I have a few things to do myself.”

 

“Alright I'll see you then.” He nodded to her, then caught her lips with his. She pressed back softly, then parted, smiling.

 

“Bye for now.” She took off down the hall towards English class. He smiled after her, then turned to bump into Kikyou.

 

“Hi.” She hissed. “Can I talk to you?”

Inu and Kikyou went into the football field. Inu looked over to the tree but Kagome wasn't there yet. No one was out here besides for them.

 

“I can't believe you didn't go out with me but you fought to go out with a Dark Sprite. Why the hell did you do it?” Her tone wasn't harsh but it could go there quickly.

 

“For reasons you wouldn't understand.” Inu looked away. His heart sunk.

 

“Dare and Disaster? I wouldn't understand that?” Her words came out a hiss of hate. This just got more difficult.

 

“Where'd you hear that from?” Inu instantly became worried. If Kagome found out…

 

“Everyone. The only one who doesn't seem to know is Kagome.”

 

“Look I fell in love with her. Would you let it go. I'm in love with her.”

 

Kikyou got into his face. “Are you?” She leaned forward and caught his lips with her own. He instantly pulled away.

 

“Yes, I am.”

 

Kikyou backed off. “Fine. Look she's going to find out. Maybe not right now but later. You need to be careful.” She took herself away from him quickly, her fists at her sides.

 

How could he protect Kagome from that?
