Chap. 19
Sango was whisking a makeup brush across Kagome's eyes to add a dash of black shadow to them.
Kagome was laughing at something she had said, when Inu walked in. “We won.” He stated softly smiling. His tux was the normal black and white with a silvery dark blue tie. It was the same color of Kagome's dress. Sango was in a red beauty that matched Miroku's tie.
Kagome looked up innocently to Inu.
“My beauty.” He knelt softly, and held out his hand. She took it standing. He put a kiss firmly on her hand before standing. “We'll be off.”
“Hold on.” Kagome said walking to the room at the end of the hall and poking her head in. “Good night Souta, see you tomorrow alright?”
“Yeah.” He replied smiling.
“So the kid got to come home huh?”
“Yeah, he's been home for a few hours.” Kagome grabbed Inu's hand leading him down stairs and away from the house. They slipped into the black beauty Inu was still driving until the end of this week and then he was getting a new car. The ride to school was pleasant and Kagome laid her head back on the seat, closing her eyes.
“So what exactly are you hoping to do tonight?”
“Dance and then go home.” She moved her hands slightly. “I'm so tired. I need to clean out my locker too, I'm missing a sketch and I need to find it.”
“Alright.” He clamped one of her hands with his own softly, and rubbed his thumb across her knuckles.
(INTERJECTION--- I was and still am not fond of school dances and there fore I will try not to keep them at the dance long : ) Eat it… )
When Inu pulled up in the parking lot he simply shut off the engine and sat there for a moment. Kagome didn't get out of the car either. Inu leaned over to her and kissed her cheek. She smiled softly and then proceeded to get out of the car, and wait for Inu to come take her arm.
As he did so, a shout came from the direction they were walking from. Kagome turned on her heels to see Sango running up with Miroku. “Don't you ever leave me with him again. Pervert…”
“I didn't mean it Sango!” Miroku exclaimed happily. He rolled his eyes and continued smiling. Sango took Kagome's arm and led her away from the cars, leaving the boys alone for a bit.
“He was going to take me.”
“Huh?” Kagome said, quirking an eyebrow.
“Right there in his car, he was going to take me…” Sango bit her lip as Kagome's eyes widened. A loss of words installed itself.
“Uh… Wow…”
“Exactly…”
Kagome blinked, and then smiled for some god awful reason she smiled wide. “That's so cute.” Sango blushed furiously, looking back at the boys.
“Shut up Kagome.” Her hiss came, and she stopped with Kagome to wait for the boys.
As soon as they caught up with them, their feet moved fast and into the school. It would be like all the other times at the dances, Kagome supposed. They would sit in the corner, watching the preps, the drones of the world.
Inu had different ideas though, as son as they were inside, he dragged her to the dance floor. The slow song didn't bother her but after that a fast paced song twirled her about with Inu. Her head was rushing by the time he pulled her off. “You dance well, you never told me that.”
“I didn't know that I did.” She closed her eyes for a minute.
“What's the little bitch got that I don't?” Some girl said walking by. “She's fucking uglier anyone else in this school.”
“Did you hear that they did it?” Her friend said, whisking beside her and not looking around what so ever. “Imagine that- the Star Jock and Dark Sprite coming together in bed.”
“I don't want to think about it.” The first girl replied as they walked away obviously not paying attention to who was around.
Kagome sighed, then the let down was replaced by anger. She picked up the edge of her dress. “I'll be right back.” She whispered to Inu who hadn't heard the girls. Lightly, she padded up behind them keeping up and yet lingering back into the mostly black crowd. How interesting, they would wear black as formal but not regular attire.
One of the girls stopped and Kagome ran into her. “I'm so sorry.” Kagome instantly said, a smirk on her face.
“Yeah, no problem.” The girl replied without looking at her.
“Hey, aren't you the one who was just talking about me?” Kagome said offhandedly, reaching beside the girl to grab a drink.
“No, I don't…” The girl glanced at her. “Oh it's you.”
“What a pretty dress you have. I guess my darkness needs to rub off on it though.” With that Kagome tipped the glass she had in her hand not only on the girl's dress, but over her head, spilling it over her slicked hair and jewelry and everything.
The girl stood there for a second, then started to say something, Kagome cut her off though. “ And I love him, enough to give my body to him, and my heart. And as far as he's concerned I am the most beautiful person in this world. There's nothing you can do about it, so get over it.”
The girl shut her mouth, and Kagome turned away from the scene no harm done to her. No one said a word to her. She returned to Inu, putting her head on his chest and tucking her arms in between them.
“Babe, what happened? What did you do?”
“I did what was necessary.” She turned a smile up at him along with her dark eyelids. The innocent look was short lived as his eyes bored into her eyes. Then his look turned soft.
“Let's go.” Sango said walking up. “This girl just got a drink dumped on her and oh my god, she's making a production out of it. Imagine that.”
Kagome smiled. “Well, I think that concludes tonight's rounds. I agree with her. Let's get out of here.” She blushed slightly when Inu's arm slipped around her hips and his hand rested on her side.
Inu looked own at her again, a soft look in his eyes. “Alright. Where's Miroku?” Although he was speaking to Sango, he still looked at Kagome.
“Right here.” The other boy said walking through the crowd, a smile lurking on his face. His tux was slightly ruffled as if he had been hit.
Together they dashed outside and into the semi-cool hall way. “You wanted to clean out your locker right?”
“Yeah but it can wait.” Kagome replied to Inu, taking a glance at him. His warm hand slipped around her hips again in a loving way.
“We might as well do it tonight.” He insisted.
“I'll just do it tomorrow after school. We can go now, I'm dog tired.”
