Chapter 24

“The Heights.”

Kagome looked over at him slowly, with disbelief. “You live in The Heights and didn't tell me? Why do you spend time at my house?”

“I love your house, it's simple- beautiful- and you live there.” He smiled, glancing at her. “Why wouldn't I spend time there?”

“Because your house is probably fucking huge, gorgeous, spacious, luxurious, and you could easily just come pick me up you big dork.” She turned in her seat, and watched him. “What other secrets do you have?”

He swallowed, but kept smiling. “I am not a liar. I don't keep secrets. I just don't tell people things.” He shrugged and pulled onto a private drive. “Here we are.”

The road was long and surrounded by trees. They grew to each other holding branches above and only let a bit of light in. “Oh my god.”

The house they pulled up to was white, with two story columns in the front, a huge porch and enough people piled onto it to send her head spiraling. “Inu. I'm not going in there.”

“Yes you are. Sango's here with Miroku- you have to go. Please.” He leaned over and kissed her. It was soft- provoking.

She backed up and got out of the car, no more words exchanged. In a fury, Kagome made it to the door. Inu caught her hand and followed her through the crowds. His teeth caught her ear and whispered so softly. “I am sorry, you will have a blast. Go that way- it leads to the pool.” He nudged her and she went.

The pool house was twice as luxurious as the house. Kagome's heart nearly collapsed, Miroku and Sango were in the corner making out. She laughed and Sango looked up, knowing it was her.

“Kagome!” Miroku was very drunk already. “Get dressed and get in!” The boy laughed, and then went back to his girl, dipping into her mouth with his tongue. Inu led Kagome to a stall and went in with her.

Her blue, blue eyes looked up at him. “What?”

“Get out, you mongrel.”

“Hey now, name calling isn't nice.” He lifted her tank top up, taking her down to her bra. Her jeans dropped to the floor next.

“Inu, get out. Leave me to change in peace.” Her voice was heavy, gruff almost.

He huffed at her. “Just let me look at you. I never see you this way.” That made her smile.

“You've seen me naked.” She pushed against him, opening the door with his body. “Now out.” She shoved him and then pulled the door closed, locking it to finish.

She pulled on the black bottoms, fixing the straps to fall just tight enough on her hips. The top slid on easily and she had to fix it for it to stay on. She had lost some weight since she had last worn it.

She folded up her clothes and left them on the bench in the stall with Sango's wardrobe. When she stepped out, hands grabbed her and lifted her up. Kagome let out a shriek and tried to get away. By then, she was already descending, straight into the middle section of a cold pool.

Surfacing, she was coughing up water, lung, and everything in between. “Damn it, you stupid…” She turned around and saw the whole foot ball team standing there.

“HAPPY BIRTHDAY!” They all screamed. She closed her eyes. “Like we would forget!”

“Inuyasha, may I speak with you?” She wasn't pleased in the least, oh no, she was pissed. She brushed past Sango, who started laughing.

“You're in for it, you better run.”

Inuyasha did, and he ran long and hard. When he went around the corner into the kitchen, he ran right into her though. “I told you not to throw a party for me. I'm starting to think you like lying to me.”

He looked down at her, her skin so pale in that black bikini, her curves perfect. “Kagome, you never really thought I wouldn't throw you a party after you told me when you birthday was.” Inu's fingers gracefully found her hips.

“You never thought I'd be happy about this!” She screamed up at him. Several people were crowding in to watch. Kagome was still dripping wet.

“Kagome it was just a joke.” Miroku nudged in beside Inu.

Sango came up behind Kagome. “You guys are asses. At least check up on your girlfriends and see if they want to swim.”

Inu turned away. “Or maybe they should be happy for even getting a party.” He left the kitchen. Sango and Kagome turned back towards the pool. Miroku, being Miroku, followed like a stray puppy dog.

Sango sighed at her and made a face. “He didn't know, love. You should of told him.”

“Told him what?” Miroku asked as they slid back into the pool, and Kagome sat on the cold tile. His speech was a bit slurred.

She looked at the boy and sighed. “I can't swim.” It came out in a whisper, but echoed through the room. Miroku's eyes grew as he sobered up a bit. The room silenced, especially since there was barely anyone in there with them.

“Why didn't you tell him?”

“Because I didn't want him to teach me, or laugh about it, or…”

Long legs came from behind her, and a body sat close. “I wouldn't of laughed.” His teeth grazed her shoulder and his chin rested on it seconds later. His fingers played across her stomach, circled her belly button and then dropped lower to play with her bottoms.

She leaned back into him, turning her face up to his. “I know. I just couldn't, you sounded so…” She shook her head. “It scared me when I was going for the water, I had to figure out which end I was going into and if I'd be able to get back out.” She kissed his chin and that's when the commotion started.

“Get out of my house!” Sesshoumaru's voice rang out through the halls.

Inuyasha immediately stood and shielded Kagome and the other two from the rage coming through the door. “I'm throwing a party for Kagome's birthday, you leave them alone.”

Sesshoumaru blinked at his brother. “Kagome? That girl you…” his golden eyes looked down at the girl, glaring up at him. “Oh. Well, everyone's gone anyway, except for these few.”

“They are spending the night.” Inuyasha said softly. Kagome stood, slightly behind him then bumped into him, clearing her throat.

“Who's this?”

“My brother.” The older man, who looked almost exactly like Inu, extended his hand. “He's not big on giving the family outlay. My name is Sesshoumaru.” This girl looked familiar, like someone he had been with two years ago when he was in high school.

“Kagome.” She didn't take his hand.

He retracted it slowly. Inu spoke up then. “Well, now that she has been informed, we will be going to my wing. See you in the morning.”

“You should go talk to father. He's not pleased.”

“He can wait.” Inu took Kagome's hand and nodded to Miroku, who had sobered up quickly. All four, dried and made it up stairs faster than Inu drove.

Sitting around in Inu's living room, which was rich in reds and gold, Kagome laid out on the couch. Her swimsuit was cold but she didn't want to change just yet. They were going to sneak back down after awhile and swim again.

Sango handed her a beer. “Drink up.” The girl smiled at her and then took a swig of her own bottle. Kagome took a sip and then another.

By the time they were going back down stairs, all of them were cackling drunk, and stumbling. Sinking into the water, Kagome was the first to the hot tub. Inu followed her- smiling at Sango and Miroku, who was already shit faced.

Inu slid in behind Kagome, leaning against the side. He planted her on his lap, and laid his chin on her shoulder to watch the fun. Miroku had to hold onto Sango, who was stumbling about as bad as he was, to stay standing.

Under the water, Inu's hands were being deviant. Kagome had sat just far enough forward that she was just on his legs. He opened them slightly and slid his hand under her, moving her bottoms over slightly. She rose up, moving away from him. “Inu… You stay away from me.”

She laughed softly. Her eyes were a dark cerulean color, one he had never seen before. “Kagome. Come back.” He chased her capturing her hips with his hands in the decent size tub, and dragging her down under him. His nose nuzzled her neck, and she nuzzled back.

“Not tonight, Inu.”

Kikyou showed up at Kagome's house. “Ms. Higurashi- ”

She was surprised the older woman answered the door. “Kikyou! It's been a long time. Come on in. Kagome's at a party, she won't be back until the morning.”

“Oh. Would you give her this?” Kikyou stepped foot into the house and laid an envelope on the entry hall table. “It's important.”

“I'll make sure she gets it. Come talk to me in the kitchen, I'm cooking some dinner for Souta and I.” The older woman, bustled into the dining room where Souta was. The young boy looked up, huffed and went back to his homework. He knew there had been a fight between the two girls.

Kagome hadn't forgiven Kikyou. Why was she in the house? If mother didn't know, he wasn't about to tell her. It would break her heart. She loved Kikyou like a daughter- and he'd leave it that way.

“Hey kid.”

“Kikyou.” He answered blindly, writing down a math problem. She left the room, walking into the kitchen with his mother.
“What's going on Kikyou? I mean is there some reason you needed Kagome?”

“Not really. I just wanted to drop by. How's she doing?”

“Pretty good. Inuyasha has changed her completely. She's a loving person now, bright, cheery. It's so strange from her normal darkness.” The older woman smiled. “She's getting into an art college. Inu has been posing for her. She's really very good. I didn't realize she had grown so much.”

“Yeah, I suspected she would get into some sort of school of fine arts. Do you have any pictures she's drawn? I'd love to see them.” Kikyou smiled, grabbing a few dishes out of the open dishwasher to put up. They clanked together as she moved them into the cabinets.

Higurashi took off the apron she had on and tossed it aside. “I may know where some are. Come on, I'll show you.” She folded up the apron, and returned to the entry hall starting up the stairs. Kikyou followed, eyeing Souta- who remained quiet but quite aware of what was going on.

Kagome would be livid.
