I do not own Inuyasha all credit goes to its respected mangaka!!
“It sure is a warm night isn't it”. Hojo mentioned as he walked through with his mother and father.
Kagome who was nervous tried to agree in a small voice. After the introductions they had all sat down to a meal made by Kagome and her mother. The whole time Kagome felt uneasy. Hojos mother never stopped looking her up and down. After answering every question Hojos parents threw at her Kagome excused herself to serve Dessert.
“I'll help you”. Hojo hoped up from the table and quickly followed Kagome.
“Let's escape out the back”. Hojo said to Kagome with a smile on his face.
After taking her hand and leading her to the outside of the temple they found a place to sit and talk.
“Sorry about my mom and all of her questions”. Hojo said his gaze diverted to the ground.
“Well I don't think she hates me so you may be in the clear this time. What are you going to do the next time”? Kagome chuckled a little before she noticed that Hojo was looking at her with a determined look on his face.
“I kind of wanted to talk to you about that”. Hojo stood. Kagome followed suit and stood next to him.
“Kagome, is it really impossible for you to forget that other guy”? “I know you've been hurt, and that you still love him. It's been three years now. You know how I feel. The next time my mother comes I don't want it to be for dinner with my girlfriend. I want it to be for my wedding”.
Kagome stepped back, “What are you saying Hojo”?
Hojo pulled a small box out of his pocket and handed it to kagome. “I want you to be happy. I hope I can make you happy”.
Kagome glanced over her shoulder at the small well house. Remembering that Inuyasha had chose Kikyo she thought to herself
“He's happy. Why can't I try to be happy as well”?
Kagome looked at Hojo.
“I can't promise you that I can love you the way I loved him, but if you can accept me that way I will accept”.
Hojo hugged Kagome so tight he lifted her from the ground. Then he grabbed her by the hand and led her into the house.
“I thought you were getting desert, where did the two of you run off to”? Hojos mother seemed a bit angry,
“I have good news” Hojo announced.
Every one stopped talking and paid attention to the two.
“Kagome agreed to marry me”.
Before Kagome realized what was going on she was knocked back by hugs from Hojos parents. Kagomes mother had a look of worry on her face. When things had finally settled down Hojos mother began planning.
“I think we should have the wedding next Saturday”.
Kagome choked on the coffee she was drinking.
“That's less than two weeks away” Hojo said to his mother.
“Yes but were already in town .We can just extend our vacation by a week, and I'll be here to help with the planning”.
Hojos mother had a look of satisfaction on her face. Kagomes mother spoke up.
“I know that they would probably want to choose a date but I was thinking maybe the wedding could be held after graduation”.
“Nonsense”! Hojos mother still looked determined.
“Hojo must be married as soon as possible. My father (Hojos grandfather) won't live forever and he would at least like to have one great grandchild before he passes. Hojo dear why do you think we kept trying to send you to the match maker”.
Kagome stood up,
“I understand. The wedding will be held next Saturday”.
Hojo was surprised by her word he had hoped for a long engagement so he could win her heart before they married. Hojo felt he couldn't argue with the two women so he agreed. After deciding what days to meet through out the week, and working around a tight school schedule Hojos mother, kagome and Kagomes mother finally had a plan to get things started.
When the house had cleared out and all the good nights were said Kagome finally headed for her room.
“Kagome, Is this really what you want?”
Her mother asked from the bottom of the stairs.
“It's been three years I think its time to move on”. Kagome entered her room and shut the door behind her.
