Kagome woke when the sun was high in the sky. She sat up and rubbed the sleep away from her eyes. Her head hurt from crying so much earlier that morning. She focused her eyes and examined her surroundings. After a few moments she recognized the small house.

“This is Kaedes house.” Kagome said to herself.

She stepped out side of the small house, in the distance Inuyasha, Sango and Kaede were rebuilding a fence.

Sango perked up when she noticed that Kagome had finally woken up.

“Kagome”!

Sango ran over and hugged a startled Kagome.

“Wait, I'm happy to see you to but why am I here”?

“Don't you remember anything Woman? You said you needed me didn't you? What choice did I have? I have things to do around here to”.

“Things to do”. Kagome thought for a moment.

“Oh my god How long did I sleep? My wedding!” Kagome looked frantic.

“What are you talking about? You never wanted to marry him anyway”. Inuyasha faced Kagome. “You don't even know if you really love him.”

“What makes you think that”? Kagome looked offended.

Sango nudged Kaede and they made a narrow escape.

“I overheard you talking to yourself this morning when you threw away that locket”.

Kagomes mind was racing, Inuyasha had come back for her but she had already promised to marry Hojo. And on top of that she had missed her wedding completely.

“I have to go back; I have to explain to Hojo why I just vanished”. Kagome turned and headed in the direction of the well.

“Oh no you don't”. Inuyasha grabbed a hold of Kagomes arm.

“It took a long time to get you back and now you just want to turn around and go home. I'm not letting you leave this time. For all I know you may just disappear for another three years, do you expect me to wait forever. It was your misunderstanding that got us here in the first place”.

Kagome lowered her head when she felt tears well up in her eyes. ”Your right it is all my fault but I can't let other people get hurt for my mistakes. If I don't go clear things up he'll hate me”.

“Who cares”? Inuyasha turned away from Kagome.

“Who says you have to go back anyway. You could just stay here and live with me”.

Kagomes face felt hot and she knew that she was blushing. There was still a tight pain in her chest because she knew deep down she couldn't do that.

“I'm sorry Inuyasha I have to go home. I have school and my family and I have to apologies to Hojo”.

“So you're going to go back and marry him anyway. I'm not important enough for you to make sacrifices”?

“That's not it. Now that I know the truth I can't marry Hojo. I don't love him and I was a fool for thinking I could make myself love him”.

“I can't go back with you, look at me I would never be allowed out of your house and if I were ever found out who knows what would happen. That well isn't going to allow us to pass back and forth forever you know. A decision has to be made. Stay here with me or let me go completely”.

Kagome stayed silent for a moment then heaved a sigh and spoke.

“I'm sorry Inuyasha I have to go home and if that means to lose you completely then I have no choice”.

“I see then, if that's your decision then I hope you can live happily with it”.

With that Inuyasha went back to the work he had started.

“Inuyasha I'm sor… “

“Just go you're giving me a headache”. Inuyasha didn't even bother to give her a last glance he didn't want Kagome see his face, a face that was crying for only the second time in his adult life.

“Kagome!! Kagome!!” Sango caught up with Kagome just as she was swinging her legs into the well.

“Oh Sango. I'm sorry I just thought it would be harder for me to come and say goodbye to every one.”

“Kagome is this really what you want? Inuyasha waited for you for so long and you're just going to leave him like that. I don't think he'll wait for you again if you leave him like this”.

Kagome lifted her head determined in her decision.

“I'm sorry Sango we just have two different lives I don't think this would ever work out the way we want it to”.

With out waiting for Sangos reply Kagome pushed herself back into the well and before she knew it she was back on the other side.
