Kagome made her way up the well and back towards the house.

It had only been a few hours past time for the wedding but workers were already pulling down decorations.

Kagome opened the door to her house, she heard her mother in the kitchen. When she peeped in she saw her mother talking on the phone.

“Yes I will call you as soon as she comes home, yes… I will ok then goodbye”.

Kagomes mother hung up the phone and heaved a big sigh. Kagome walked into the room and was shocked to find her mother was smiling.

“I'm sorry mom”.

Kagomes mother stood and gave her daughter a hug.

“Why don't you go ahead upstairs and take a shower. We can talk about this when you have things sorted out”.

Kagomes mother hurried over to the phone that was ringing again.

Kagome made her way to her room as soon as she opened the door she found a letter on her desk. It was from Hojo. Kagome Drew in a deep breath and opened the letter.

 

Kagome,

 

There are no words that can describe the feelings I am feeling right now, I think I knew even before I went to bed last night that this wasn't going to happen. I must apologies to you face to face but I just can't do that right now. This is all my fault I rushed you and you were not ready. I hope no matter where you go in life you can find the love that you desire. I will be taking the year off from school to clear my thoughts and start over. I hope we can always be friends...

Kagome sat the letter on her desk and whipped the tears from her eyes.

“I've done an awful thing to you Hojo”.

“He didn't look so broken up to me when he left this morning. I don't think you should be either”.

Kagome turned and found her mother in her doorway.

“I just came up to see if you were hungry”!

“Oh...um... no thank you I don't have much of an appitite this morning”.

Kagomes mother gave her a warm smile

“Ah well I'll leave you something small in the fridge please eat it later if you feel like it”.

Kagomes mother turned to leave the room.

“MOM”. Kagome called out louder than she thought she would

Kagomes mother turned to her daughter still smiling.

“What would you do if I wasn't around anymore?”

Kagomes mother who knew exactly what Kagome was thinking moved into the room and sat on the bed.

“If you think you would rather be some where else other than here I think I could be happy. As long as you are happy and you can be with the one who loves you most I think that's the way it should be. I don't think anyone should let true love pass them by. True you may love again but never as much as you loved the first”.

Kagomes mother stood and left the room. Kagome still feeling a bit confused went to take a shower.

On the other side of the well a tired Inuyasha who had finally finished the fence laid in his room. His thoughts were full of Kagome and weather or not it was truly impossible for them to be together. Just thinking of her marrying another man made him angry. If she stayed there alone she would defiantly meet some one else.

Kagome went down to the kitchen after her shower and got a bite to eat. Things were still weighing on her mind. She thought what's the point of living if you can't be with the one you love. Why get a job. Why do anything.

The sun was beginning to set so Kagome walked up to her room. She glanced out the window at the old well house... and her last thought before turning out the light was

“Inuyasha”.
