InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Hidden Past, Hidden Self ❯ Sesshomaru vs. Kane-Sakura II ( Chapter 11 )
I don't own any of the InuYasha characters in this fanfic. The ones I own are Kane-Sakura, Setsuna, and Trowa. Mika is owned by my friend Stephanie, Michi (coming in a later chapter) to my friend Nicky, and Yuki (coming in a later chapter) belongs to Danielle.
Last time on The Hanyou's Little Sister:
"There might not be a next time! You need to learn these things now!"
"You don't need to yell at me, damn it! I am getting a helluva lot better!"
"But you're not getting stronger fast enough! I want to see more improvement in less time!"
"Is that a challenge? Fine, I'll train by myself to show you that I can do better without your help! And if I've improved enough to your standards, and I beat you in a battle, I want to combat one of your fiercest opponents."…

As suddenly as the wind had picked up, InuYasha charged. He jumped and swung Tetsusaiga over his head to launch an attack on Kane. She just stood there, intently listening with her hypersensitive ears. Then, just before InuYasha sliced her in half, Kane dodged the blade with lightning speed. She jumped backwards and leapt into the tree branches above her.
"Whoa; how'd you…?" He surveyed the trees, trying to use his nose to sniff her out. But there were too many other scents and he had no time to sort them all out.
Kane stood directly over InuYasha, waiting ever so patiently for him to lower his guard. Then, once she saw his muscles in his shoulders relax, Kane leapt out of the branch she was in with her hand outstretched and her claws bared. At the last second, he whipped his head around and lunged to the side. Kane sliced the ground with her claws, did a one handed hand spring and alighted benevolently on her feet. She stood up straight; that's when InuYasha saw the glint in her eye.
Kane's Claws of Gold had managed to scratch his face. He wiped away the blood as it trickled down his cheek. "At least you can land on your feet now." He chuckled.
"That's not all I can do." She cracked her knuckles by simply moving them. "I'll prove to you how good I've really become!"…

Kane's train of thought flew from her when Sesshomaru's scent suddenly became stronger from behind her. "So, you've shown yourself, eh?" A deep voice resounded behind her and she whirled around to face it head on. A tall man with long, flowing white hair was staring at her with amber colored pools that were as cold as ice. He had purple stripes on his face and a crescent moon atop his forehead. His white garment was similar to InuYasha's, but he had this weird armor on his chest and he had red and white designs on the sleeves. He carried two swords at his hip; one in a sheath, the other out in the open.
"Sesshomaru, I presume?" Kane didn't bow like she normally did when she met someone else.
"Kane-Sakura, my little half-sister, why are you alive?" He asked plainly….
***
"Sesshomaru, you may be older, but you're still a half-demon like me. It's an even match." Kane boasted.
He was upon her in less than a second and was holding Kane by the neck against the tree. Her feet dangled off of the ground by at least a foot. "Don't confuse me to be only a half-breed. You are looking at a full-fledged demon."
`A full demon?!' Kane mentally gasped….

Chapter 11: Sesshomaru vs. Kane-Sakura II
Sweat poured down Kane's face. "Oh, I didn't know that." She gulped. "So, I guess you can just for…"
Sesshomaru grabbed Kane's left hand after dropping her. She unsteadily landed on her feet as he kept the grip on her little wrist. Kane noticed the green glow coming from his talons and panicked almost instantly. He took them and dug them into the top of her hand by her knuckles. Kane cringed in pain and closed her eyes as he slid his claws down her mitt and closer to her wrist. Three stripes that became larger at the base began to bleed furiously and leaked onto her kimono. The poison was just beginning to make its way into Kane's blood stream; her arm was burning hot and tingly. "My little half-sister, this is your end." He dug his nails deeper into her gashes, making Kane yell out in agony.
`No, I can't let it end this way.' Kane thought to herself. She squeezed Teretsu in her free hand. `Please, someone help me. Anybody give me assistance.' Kane pleaded silently. But her thoughts changed suddenly. `No. Father, give me strength to save myself.'
The sword in Kane's hand pulsated rapidly, gaining a life that it had never had before. Sesshomaru must've heard it too. He dropped Kane's hand and stepped back, unsure of the circumstance he was facing.
Kane looked down at her sword and gasped at the sight she saw. It was glowing a bright white light, a pure bloodless illumination so bright she had to squint. `What the…?' All of a sudden, a great burst of energy assailed the sword, causing it to become bigger than it had been before; it was incredibly larger yet light as a feather for Kane. It curved like a canine fang as Kane swooshed in front of her to point it into the air to examine it.
"The sword has transformed into a fang like Tetsusaiga. How very much like father to give you your own version of it." Sesshomaru stated flatly.
"Don't give me that bull! Now that I've figured out how to make it transform, you're toast!" Kane exclaimed and positioned it so the tip faced Sesshomaru.
"You don't even know how to use it." His eyes turned red and his face became distorted as he started to transform into his giant dog form.
`Oh boy, here we go.' Kane gulped. `I hope I know what I'm doing.' She closed her eyes and sniffed the air around her. `There's a path of some kind in front of me. If I cut along it, what will happen?' Kane opened her eyes again and actually saw the path of the blade before her. `That's it!' Kane parted her legs so they stood shoulder width apart, then took her sword in both hands. She raised the sword so the hilt was right by her face and the blade itself was pointed toward the ground in a diagonal line. Watching the path with pure focus, she charged forward at the transforming demon before her. Once she was close enough to the path, she fluidly sliced the air ahead of her, right through the path, creating some sort of shape in front of her. It was like opening a portal of some kind, and once it was open, a torrent of white, glittering diamonds flowed out in a giant river and into Sesshomaru. Kane's attack was so powerful, that the force of it pushed her back, sending her flying into a tree. "Hoooolllyyy sshhiiitt!!!!" Kane yelled out as she flew back. Once she hit the tree, she was knocked unconscious.

Kane woke a little later, just after the sun had set. She sat up, holding her injured hand with her good one. She scanned the area with her eyes and nose to see if Sesshomaru was still around. After picking up his blood scent, Kane assumed he had died. `Oh man, what a battle. I'm never going to do that again.' Kane thought as she ripped off some of her kimono sleeve to wrap her hand in. She looked at the area in front of her and noticed that all of the trees had been felled from some force. `Was that from Teretsu's attack I unleashed? Man, that must've hurt.' Kane flinched.
`Speaking of Teretsu, where is my sword?' She stood and looked around her and found it near the tree that she had rammed into. It was no longer this giant fang, but a normal sized kadachi. She sheathed it, then returned to her hand.
She sat by the tree Sesshomaru had pinned her to at one time in the battle and nursed her hand with tender care. "Glad that's over with. I wonder why Teretsu changed in the middle of the battle like that." Kane reminisced to when she had been desperate for anything to defeat Sesshomaru with and it began to pulsate. "And that attack, what should I call it?" Kane thought it over, thinking of what it looked like from her point of view. "It kind of looked like a river of diamonds. Should I name it or should I ask what's its name is?" Kane questioned. "Kirei-nagare, beautiful stream? Hmm, it's better than nothing." Kane thought it over. "Although, that stream was more or less very powerful!" Kane pondered.
"Kane! Where are you?!" A woman's voice called out. Kane sighed when she realized she knew who the voice belonged to, Mika. She giggled slightly at the thought of her big, strong brother depending on a wolf-girl to find her because he was injured. Then she stopped, "Oh, I injured him. I'm in trouble."
"You can't hide from me; your scent is almost seeable!" Mika yelled out.
"I'm not hiding! I'm over here!" Kane hollered. Soon after, Mika's head popped out of the wooded area. Kane held onto her left hand in agony, the pain beginning to take a toll and the poison steadily taking effect.
Mika took no notice. "Hey, what the hell were you thinking leaving to go fight a battle with a full demon! You could've found him and…" Then she saw the downed trees and Kane's left hand. "Let me guess, you already found him."
Kane nodded, looking at the ground sheepishly.
"So, how come you're not dead?"
"I beat him. And you know what, I'm beginning to find that many demons don't seem to like me or want revenge on me." Kane sighed. "I hate being so popular."
"You think you're popular?" Mika asked sarcastically.
Kane scowled and didn't answer as she unwrapped her wounded hand. "Mika, is there anyway I can extract poison right now?"
Mika's eyes softened. "Why; is there something wrong with your hand?"
"My hand was poisoned by Sesshomaru's claws. He said that it's gonna spread and kill me." Kane held up her hand to show Mika. "It's still bleeding and my hand is burning."
Mika tossed Kane a reed from her pouch on her left hip. "I've been poisoned many times before by numerous demons. Put this in the wound and suck on the other end. It'll draw out the poison and stop the bleeding."
"Thanks." Kane said as she started to suck on one end of the reed. After a while, she spit some of the blood onto the ground and said, "I can't believe how many times I've almost been killed now."
"How many times?" Mika inquired.
"Four I believe."
Mika slapped her forehead. "That's it?! You've barely scratched the surface! Me on the other hand, I've been attacked so many times; I can't even count them all!" Mika took a seat next to Kane. "It isn't going to get any better either. Numerous demons will continue to yearn for the ending of my life. And it's the same for you, your brother, and almost every demon out there. No matter what the reason, demons will desire the life of another."
Kane smiled. "You know what; I think I'll be all right. I've got my big brother, InuYasha, whom I can depend on. He'll never let anything happen to me." Kane thought over what she had said. "Unless I do something that upsets him… Or if I run off again… Or if he dies protecting me or Kagome… Or…
"ALL RIGHT!! I GET THE PICTURE!!" Mika yelled at the dog demon. "Now come on; your brother will kill me if I don't get you back soon."
"I'm not really looking forward to seeing him myself." Kane laughed half-heartedly. "I injured him pretty good with my sword."
Mika snorted. "He'll live. But he's not too happy."
Kane rewrapped her hand again and stood to follow Mika as she began to walk away. "At least he should be proud that I defeated Sesshomaru and mastered Teretsu!"
`What a ditz! She thinks she's the bomb because she scared Sesshomaru off with an attack of her sword. She'll learn sooner or later that he's still alive.' Mika glanced back at Kane as she marched with pride. `I'll let her feel `special' for now. It'll be more fun to burst her bubble later.'

That same night, the girls, Kagome, Sango, and Kaeda, all sat by Kane, tending to her injured hand. InuYasha sulked in the corner of her hut and gave her the evil eye. Kane loved the attention for a little while, but soon grew sick and tired of it after fifteen minutes of futzing with her hand. She looked over to Miroku to see if he could help, but he calmly sipped his tea and ignored her silent pleas for help; he knew better than to interfere with women when they were babying something.
Mika sat on top of the roof, looking listlessly at the stars and the sliver of a moon that was left. Once Kane had managed to get away from her `doctors', she called up to Mika to talk. "Hey wolf-breath, come on down here!!"
Mika's head peered over the roof. "Yeah, yeah; stay right there. I'll be down in a sec." The word `stay' stuck out for Kane and she fell to the ground. "Oops." Mika whispered.
`Don't lose your temper. We'll just end up arguing.' Kane took in a deep breath as she sat up.
"Sorry; I forgot about the word st…" She stopped herself. "I mean your command."
"I'm not too mad; just watch your words." Kane slowly leaned against the hut. "The women in there are treating me like a baby; it's like this wound is the one injury that could kill me! This one isn't as bad as the one you gave me back when we first met."
"I thought you'd forgotten about that by now." Mika snickered.
"In your dreams wolf. You and I may agree on some terms, but we aren't exactly friends you know."
Mika didn't seem hurt by her comment. "I know, I just thought that your empty head might've put that behind you by now."
Kane angrily stood. "What?! I do not have an empty head!"
"Well, from the steam I see coming out of those little dog ears, there's no doubt its empty now!" Mika burst out laughing.
"What about my ears?! Mika, HEEL!!" The bracelet on Mika's left wrist pulled her down to the ground and created a crater.
"What's going on over here?" A man's voice came from behind the trees by the hut.
"Oh nothing; I'm just teaching this wolf a new trick."
Setsuna stepped from out of the shadows. "Glad to see you've got your spunk back." He laughed.
"Setsuna; how are you doing?" Kane stood by him and began to converse with the cat demon as Mika slowly began to sit up.
`I thought Kane liked this cat? Then again, after she met Trowa, things could be different.' Mika determined.
"I'm better than the last time you saw me." He looked down at her hand. "Have any good confrontations lately?'
"You bet! I met my older brother and gave him the one-two punch!" Kane punched at the air like she was striking an object in the vicinity. "And all I got out of it was this scratch on my hand."
"Cool." A momentary, uncomfortable pause passed between the two demons. "Any more about Trowa?"
"Huh? Oh, him! Yeah, we're supposed to get married soon! He's a really great guy." Kane sighed with affection.
A look of hurt crossed his face so fast, it was almost left unnoticed by Mika, but he covered it with a smile. "Are you looking forward to it?"
"I guess I am! He let me come back, but he'll return to get me when preparations are met."
"I have to go. A demon like me has a lot to do." As suddenly as the conversation had started, it was done. He turned his back to Kane and said, "See ya later."
Once he was gone, Mika, who was now standing, hit her on the head with her fist. "Are you deaf as well as blind?! Or is there really nothing in that thick skull of yours!"
Kane glared at the wolf girl as a giant lump formed on her head, right in between her ears. "And your point is?"
"He's giving you an open invitation! He's practically yelling at the top of his lungs of how he feels for you!" Mika looked Kane dead in the eye.
"So? Trowa is the one for me. He's wealthy, handsome, and a full demon."
"Just because that jerk says he loves you, you're gonna reject the first guy you liked?"
"He's still healing from losing Atsuko; he doesn't really love me. He needs someone to pick him up after he falls and I'm not going to fall for such a cheap trick!"
"What a ditz! Where the hell did you hear of such a thing?!"
Kane turned away from the wolf demon. "I used to date this one guy who had just broken up with his long time sweetheart. He turned to me, I fell in love, he cheated on me, I had my heart broken, end of story!"
Now it was Mika's turn to rotate her back to the female dog demon. "I'm outta here! You're nothing but a ditz and a whiner. Go train with your brother!"
"Fine! Go; see if I care!" Kane turned towards Mika again and yelled.
"I am going!" And she bound towards the wooded area away from the village.
"Good riddance!" She spit on the ground. "The smell of wolf gives me indigestion anyway!" She stomped back into the hut, settling down on her normal mat. The first thing she noticed were the faces all staring at her in trepidation. "What're you looking at?" Kane exasperated.
The eyes instantly averted away from her and to their previous matters that had been transpiring while she and Mika had argued.
"Stupid wolf left. We'll have to go on without." Kane compiled.
"Why'd she leave?" Kagome asked, even though she already knew the reason.
"Because she thinks I'm a whiner! I'm going to sleep!" She grabbed her sleeping bag and stomped outside. "Good night every one!" And she left the hut without another word.

Another chapter done! What a week; me and my friends painted my room this past weekend and into Monday, then I had to move all of my furniture into new positions. My room looks really good now! All I need is new carpeting and I'll be very comfortable and happy with my room.
My friends and I made a complication CD of songs that our characters might sing if they were a singing group, which they will in a different fanfic. The group is called D-K9 and Kane is the lead singer, Mika is the lead guitarist, Michi is the drummer and Yuki is base guitar.
That's all for now! Keep looking once a week for new chapters to `The Hanyou's Little Sister'.
