Chapter 4: Life With Sesshoumaru-sama

Kagome sat on the ground sadly thinking what had happened to Sakura. She wished and hoped desperately that she was alright. Sakura didn't have a clue how dangerous this era could be, she didn't want to know if anything bad had happened to her.

"Kagome-chan," Sango sat next to her passing her a cooked fish. "You have to eat something."

"I just don't have much appetite lately." Kagome said softly and pulled her legs closer to herself hugging it tightly. "I shouldn't have been so careless. Knowing that she now came to stay in the Shrine it would be dangerous if she didn't know… I should have told her when I had the chance but I kept it away from her."

"Feh, if you would let her see me on the first day she arrived this wouldn't have happened." Inuyasha scoffed.

"It is all your fault!" Kagome yelled. "You should have stayed away from my era like I have told you. This wouldn't have happened!"

"So it is my fault now?" Inuyasha yelled back. "It was you who brought me back here!"

"Like I said I don't want my cousin to know about you yet!" Kagome got up to her feet yelling on top of her lungs now. "Why can't you listen to me for once… why have you got to come when you were suppose to stay away?"

Inuyasha was about to utter something rude back when Miroko put his hand on his shoulder shaking his head. That was when Inuyasha saw a glint of tears in Kagome's eyes and shut his mouth again quickly. He then turned away from her with a "Feh" and remained quiet. Kagome sat down on the ground again leaning her forehead on her knees.

It is entirely my fault if she dies in this era….Kagome thought miserably.

Very early in the morning, Sakura opened her eyes slowly only to see Rin sleeping next to her, with her arms around her waist hugging her. She blinked and rubbed her eyes, sitting up trying not to wake the kid. Not far from them she could see Sesshoumaru as if he was ready to leave the place. Jaken was no where to be found.

Rin shifted slightly but still remained sleeping. Jaken broke out from the woods running towards Sesshoumaru and kneeled down on his knees, spoke something to him which Sakura couldn't really hear from where she was and saw Sesshoumaru nodded once. She nearly jumped off her wits when Jaken turned his angry eyes at them.

"RIN," Jaken shouted. "Wake up, it is time to leave!"

What the hell? Sakura thought angrily. Can't the little girl have a little more time to rest?

"RIN!" Jaken shouted again when Rin didn't budge.

Sakura collected Rin up into her arms without waking her and stood up glaring at Jaken.

"Can't you see she is tired?" Sakura retorted. "Why can't you let the little girl rest?"

"We don't have time for silly humans who get tired all the time…" Jaken started to say in his annoying superior voice when Sesshoumaru walked up to Sakura stepping on Jaken as he did.

Sakura's eyes widened as she suppressed her laughter building up her chess. She didn't want to show any emotions in front of Sesshoumaru who seemed so cold always in his calm expressionless face. However, Sesshoumaru could see a spark of amusement in her eyes as she cuddled Rin close to her.

Sesshoumaru stared at Sakura's unwavering stare. She is one brave kid… he thought looking down at her quietly and then at Rin. He could see Rin usual pink face was pale as she continued to slumber in Sakura's arms. It could be because of her lack of sleep yesterday night for talking to Sakura trying to get to know her more. He moves his eyes back at Sakura who still stared at him boldly.

Sakura looked back at Sesshoumaru, wondering how long he was going to keep standing there looking at her as she cuddled Rin closer to her.

"We have to go…" Sesshoumaru finally said in his deep and calm tone. "You can put Rin on Ah Aun and let her rest there."

Ohhh, this Lord had spoken finally…. Sakura thought to herself sarcastically. I thought cat's caught his tongue or something…

Now that she was rested and not so scared anymore, she found herself liking his voice very much, even though she hated to admit it. Slowly she walked over to Ah Aun and put Rin on him then taking the reins she lead Ah Aun following Sesshoumaru in his journey again.

Many thoughts came into Sakura's head then, why is this Lord, if he is, traveling around like that? Doesn't he have a place to stay? Doesn't he have any other servants besides this toad next to him? Why does he keep him anyway… he always rude and awfully annoying! And how can I get home! She moaned inwardly at her last thought.

Even though Sesshoumaru's stared straight ahead, he knew that Sakura was very deep in her thoughts. Once in a while he would move his eyes to look at the girl. She usually looked very withdrawn with a slight frown on her face.

What worries those this girl has? Sesshoumaru thought. She looked like an ordinary girl to him though her spiritual powers overwhelmed him. The aura around her was also very different from other human being as if something was protecting her from any harm. He was surprised himself when he saved her life yesterday from the poison. For a normal human being she wouldn't have even last by that kind of poison, but she was only knockout by it.

As for Sakura, her thoughts were far from thinking about Sesshoumaru at all. She didn't care at the moment if he was an angel in disguise or how good looking he was. All she cared was to find a way to get back to Higurashi Shrine. To be away for so long, she was sure Kagome and her family will be worried sick about her now. She sighed inwardly.

As it was near noon, Rin started to wake. She sat up rubbing her eyes sleepily.

"Sakura-neechan?" Rin called drowsily.

"Rin, you are awake," Sakura smiled turning to the drowsy half close eyes little girl. She was so cute, Sakura felt like pinching her cheeks. "Hungry?"

Before Rin could answer Jaken beat her to it. "There is no time to stop for food." He said sarcastically.

"Demo…" Rin began to protest for she was hungry.

"Keep your mouth shut, Sesshoumaru-sama will not waste any time on stopping for you to find food." Jaken said holding his head high. "Besides, it will only…"

"So are you going to just let her starve?" Sakura exclaimed furiously. "She hadn't even had anything the whole day! You may go without food but she can't!"

"There is no food around here!" Jaken snapped back.

"Moh, I'm sure we can find something!" Sakura retort back.

"It is ok, Sakura-neechan," Rin said, she knew that it was difficult to find food at this forest. For she was used to looking for food by herself and by the look of the forest, she knew immediately that there wasn't anything to eat.

Sakura fumed, then she remembered she had packed a snack bar in her school bag before she left for school and she didn't eat it. Smiling slightly she swung her bag from her back and opened searching the bar. Happily taking it out, she passed it to Rin.

"Here why don't you try this until you can find something to eat?" Sakura said cheerfully. "It is food."

"What is it?" Rin asked curiously taking it from her.

"It is a chocolate bar," Sakura said swinging her bag over her shoulders again. "If you know what it is." She added softly to herself.

"You can eat it?" Rin asked studying the bar.

"Er…" Sakura took the bar from Rin tearing the wrapper away and passed her the bar inside. "You can eat it now…"

"Arigatou," Rin took it and started eating. She grinned at Sakura. "Oishiii… what is it?"

"Er… food?" Sakura answered, doubting that if she said chocolate bar again, would Rin be able to understand or not. "Well, we have plenty of those where I come from."

"Is there some more?"

"I have only one with me…" Sakura replied, regretting that she didn't pack more into her school bag. But then again, how would she know that she would ended up here. The truth was she was awfully hungry too, for not having anything to eat last night and in the morning as well.

Sesshoumaru looked at her with slight interest at how she had stood up for Rin, and how she made Rin so happy when she wakes up. For Rin was usually very subdued when she just woken up. She would usually be more cheerful and talkative when her drowsiness wears off.

Maybe it is good to have her around to accompany Rin, Sesshoumaru thought.

Three days passed by…

"Sakura-neechan, look!" Rin cried happily as she caught a fish in her hands.

Jaken was still trying. Sakura laughed, she was in the river with the two of them. She took off, her bag, socks and shoes to join the fun. Sesshoumaru sat by the river with Ah Aun watching them with no expression on his face.

"Sakura-neechan why don't you try?" Rin cried as she threw the fish to the bank of the river. "It is not very different…"

"Me, I think it will take a million years to catch one!" Sakura said smiling.

"Just try for me," Rin said smiling sweetly. "Please…"

"Well, ok…" Sakura said uncertainly and took off her blazer tossed it towards where she had placed her bag, socks and shoes and rolled up the long sleeves of her white collared blouse.

"There, there, one is coming your way!" Rin cried pointing towards a big fish swimming up Sakura's feet.

Sakura bent over trying to catch it but it was very slippery as she caught it, it slipped out of her hand and swam away, Rin stood there laughing at her. Sakura straightened up putting her hands on her hips looking at Rin with a false annoyance, wadded over to her and lifted up the laughing Rin into her arms. Rin screamed and laughed at the same time.

"How dare you laugh at me" Sakura grinned, swinging Rin up in the air as she hold on her hands tight. As she falls back Sakura embraced her closely.

"You have to hold to it tightly," Rin advised.

"I am never going to get use to it." Sakura said shaking her head as she put Rin down. "Why don't you do the job ok?"

"Hai," Rin said happily. "Jaken-sama will help me…"

Sakura waded over to the bank and got out of the river, sitting next to her belongings watching Rin and Jaken. Few minutes passed, she took her bag and put it on her lap, opened it looking at the things she had in her school bag, there were her school books, a small bag containing her pen and pencils and a CD player, much to her happiness and then found a towel. It was hiding underneath all her books that was why she never noticed it before. She took it out in surprised.

Why is a towel doing in my bag? She wondered and remembered she had Physical Education in school that day and brought a towel to shower after that. How convenient she thought with a smile.

It had been four days including the first day she met Sesshoumaru and the others, she hadn't taken a bath at all. She was wondering if there was anyway where she can. Knowing that it was impossible to find a bathroom in the middle of the forest she sighed and chuck the towel back into her bag. She turned her attention back at Rin and Jaken. She had grown closer to Rin as the days passed by, treating her like her own little sister. Jaken was still as annoying as she first met him, but she got the best in the end usually leaving him spluttering unable to retort back and Sesshoumaru was always cold and expressionless. She had wondered often whether his face was carved out of marble or something. She had developed a sense of closeness to all of them in a way even Sesshoumaru who barely talks at all as he led the group.

Sesshoumaru watched Sakura from where he sat. She was one curious girl, who he cannot figure out at all. She didn't look as sad as he had first met her though, she seemed like she was still looking for something as if it was missing. Not wanting her to know he was watching, Sesshoumaru made sure that she didn't look his way. He watched her unrolled her sleeves as she put on her blazer but didn't proceed on with her socks and shoes. After that she sat crossed leg, bare footed on the ground watching Rin and Jaken with a smile on her face.

She had made Rin very happy this few days, and had accompanied her all the time, much to Jaken's happiness. She knew how to make Rin smiled, and knew what she likes. She seemed like a mother to Rin. She was bold and strong headed, retorting back at Jaken making him speechless much to his amusement and Sesshoumaru smiled inwardly at his thought.

Sakura had a feeling Sesshoumaru's eyes were boring at her though she ignored it. Not wanting him to know that it was bothering her, she continued to watch Rin and Jaken as if nothing was wrong.

"Sakura-neechan, we caught plenty of fish!" Rin exclaimed excitedly bringing her the fishes she had caught for her to see. "Look, they are so big…"

"They are," Sakura smiled. "You are really good at it… I am never good at fishing even with a fishing rod."

"Fishing rod?" Rin asked curiously.

"Well, it is like a pole thing with a string and there is hook at the end." Sakura explained. "We put worms on the hook to lure the fish to the hook…"

"It seemed like it would take forever to catch a fish like that." Rin said trying to picture the image.

"It does…" Sakura laughed. "It is boring, that is why I never like to fish…"

"Come let's go find wood to make fire…" Rin said grabbing Sakura by her arm.

"Wait…" Sakura was pulled up and dragged into the woods. "Let me wear my shoes first!"

Rin didn't acknowledge it as she dragged her away.

Smiling, Sakura shook her head watching the impatient girl. She really does remind her of Selina so much.

Flashback…

"Neechan," Selina cried. "Quick, quick, we want to get good seats!"

"Hai, hai," Sakura smiled at her impatient sister as she was dragged along the alley made by two rolls of stores. They were in a night market during summer, both of them wearing flowery kimonos. "The show won't start in another half an hour's time!"

"But I want to get good seats…" Selina said pulling on to her sister's hand as they made their way through the crowd. "Hurry or all the good seats will be taken."

Sakura had promised to bring her to a puppet show and she had been so excited that night. They managed to get good seats in front of the stage like what her little sister wanted, she was so happy when the puppet show started. Sakura watched her little sister with a smile on her face. It was her last night in Nagoya and she would be going back to New York for her school term starts in two days time. Trying to shove the sad feeling creeping up into her heart she concentrated on the puppet show.

End of Flash back.

Sakura lay on her back as she stared up the dark sky brightly lit by stars. She blinked when a shooting star shot by and she sat up quickly. Closing her eyes she made a wish.

I wish to go home. She thought and slowly opened her eyes again looking up the sky. I hope you will be able to grant my simple wish.

She turned around and saw Rin playing around with a very annoyed Jaken. Sesshoumaru was sitting under tree watching them. Sakura smiled softly and took out something from her bag. It was a black covered book, she opened the book slowly and looked inside, and two photos fell out from it. She picked them up and looked at it. One photo was a photo of her family and the other was only Selina and herself. It was before she had gone back for school two years ago.

"Sakura-neechan," Rin suddenly called making her jumped slightly. "What is that?"

Sakura turned to look at the photo, "This is a picture of my whole family." Rin took the photo from Sakura's hand.

"It is so real," Rin said. "How can people paint so well?"

"Well, it is not exactly painted…" Sakura answered slowly not knowing how to tell the child.

"Is this you?" Rin asked pointing at Sakura with long hair in the picture.

"Hai," Sakura nodded once smiling. "That is me; this is Jijiwae, okasan and my younger sister…"

"You look very beautiful in long hair." Rin said in marvel. "Why do you keep your hair like that?" She reached out to touch Sakura's hair.

"I don't know," Sakura replied. "I just like it."

"Usually boys have short hair…"

"Soh…" Sakura grinned uneasily looking at Sesshoumaru's long silver hair and quickly moved her eyes away when she was caught.

If Sesshoumaru is in my era, people will mistake him for a girl then. Sakura thought uneasily.

Sesshoumaru could hear their conversation very clearly even though they weren't close because of his sharp ears. He saw the uneasy look Sakura case at him and saw her blushed later knowing she was thinking about his long hair. Not caring about it, Sesshoumaru closed his eyes to rest.

Soon, Rin was also sleeping leaving only Sakura and Jaken still awake. Sakura watched the toad as he sat not far from her his back facing her.

"Jaken-sama, why do you carry that stick with you?" Sakura asked breaking the silence.

"What do you mean stick?" Jaken turned around at her angrily. "This was given by Sesshoumaru-sama long time ago, Nintojo and it is an honour that he allows me to keep it."

"What does it do?" Sakura asked curious now that Jaken speaks so highly of it.

"Lot's of things," Jaken replied turning his back to her again.

"Soh kah," Sakura said softly. "It is good if it can make a hot bath for me…"

"Of course it can," Jaken replied without thinking. "I told you it not just a stick, it can do lots of things…"

"Honto?" Sakura exclaimed excitedly. "Jaken, are you telling me…"

Jaken looked at the girl strangely, why is she so worked up at?

"Come with me Jaken!" Sakura cried getting to her feet and grabbed the back of the collar of Jaken's outfit and dragged him into the woods.

Sesshoumaru opened his eyes when he heard Sakura's excited cries. When he looked around Jaken and she was no where around near him except for Rin sleeping soundly next to Ah Aun.

"Please," Sakura begged. "I need a bath, I'm filthy…"

"Human's are always filthy…" Jaken said and Sakura's fist came flying down onto his head.

"Are you going to do it or not?" Sakura said now more demandingly. "I will take Rin off your back…"

Jaken looked at Sakura his eyes narrowed. "Are you blackmailing me?"

"Well, it's up to you…" Sakura said with a mischievous smile.

"Very well," Jaken said in defeat. The truth was he didn't understand why Sakura needed the bath so badly. She smelled so much better than any human he had ever met.

Using his Nintojo, he made a hot spring at a clearing surrounded by tall thick trees.

"Arigatou, Jaken-sama…" Sakura said happily. "Do me another favour."

"What now?" Jaken asked annoyed. "If you are asking me to scrub your back, I will nev…."

Another huge knock came down on his head again. "Do'aho!" Sakura yelled. "I want you to keep a watch out for me so that no one is watching me bathing! Baka! Don't you even dare to peek!"

Walking away from the clearing Jaken mumbled angrily under his breath about stupid humans and stood not far from the hot spring bath he had made for Sakura.

"What are you doing Jaken?"

Jaken nearly jumped out of his skin when he heard Sesshoumaru's voice. He turned around to face the lord and knelt down on his knees.

"Please forgive me, she make me do it…" He said. "I didn't want to, but she forced me to do it…"

Sesshoumaru narrowed his eyes dangerously wondering what the hell Jaken was talking about and walked on but Jaken hugged his feet.

"Sesshoumaru-sama, you can't go any nearer…" Jaken cried in panic.

"You dare to stop me?" Sesshoumaru looked down at him sternly.

"No," Jaken said timidly withdrawing his arms around his leg.

Sesshoumaru walked closer to the clearing and stopped shot when he saw Sakura. He didn't expect that she had asked Jaken to keep a look out for her while she took a bath. Sesshoumaru watched her took off her clothes slowly and folded her clothes neatly on a huge rock next to the hot spring bath. Then she waded into the warm water, unclothed as she lowered herself in the warm water. Sesshoumaru thought that she had really nice figure and blinked once not believing at what he was thinking about.

Sakura closed her eyes and sighed with contentment, that she finally could clean herself. But before she could really enjoy the hot spring she heard a rustling sound nearby and she quickly dipped herself lower, her chin touching the water.

"Who is there?" Sakura cried angrily.

Sesshoumaru jumped off from the spot away from the hot spring, he didn't intend to walk into her taking her bath nor those he want her to know that he had saw her exposed.

Jaken came to where Sesshoumaru stood before.

"Sesshoumaru-sama?" Jaken whispered.

"JAKEN-SAMA!" Sakura yelled, her voice echoed through the forest. She had wrapped herself in her towel as she went to investigate who was near by. "I TOLD YOU TO KEEP AN EYE NOT TO WATCH ME BATH!"

Sesshoumaru had reached the clearing where Rin and Ah Aun slept when he heard Sakura's voice shouting at Jaken followed by another loud crashing sound that echoed through the forest.

For Laughs

Ray: Hahaha, Sesshoumaru-sama is flabbergasted.

Sesshoumaru: Did I? (Still in his cool calm manner)

Ray: Admit it… Sakura-chan is really beautiful right. (Envious wishing to have her nice body too)

Sesshoumaru: I wouldn't think any human would be beautiful.

Ray: Ah whatever you say My Lord then. (Still snickering)

Sesshoumaru: Not one word to Sakura about this.

Ray: You scared she knows?

Sesshoumaru: I, Sesshoumaru, is never scared of anything.

Ray: Hah. (Looking doubtfully at Sesshoumaru)

Interrupted by angry shouts and cries.

Sakura: How dare he? How dare he? Ray why must it be that way?

Ray: Huh? (Acting innocent blinking her eyes) What way Sakura-chan?

Jaken: It wasn't me…

Sakura: Then who is it?

Jaken: It is not my fault, Se…

Sesshoumaru: (Turned his murderous eyes at him)

Jaken: (Quiver in his gaze) Erm… it is just that… it is not me…

Sakura: Ah sure… (Folded her arm in front of herself angrily)

Jaken: Who would want to see you naked, all humans are ugly anyway.

Ray and Sakura: WHAT!!!!!

A big and thick hard cover Oxford Dictionary and one of Sakura's shoes went flying in the air towards Jaken knocking him on his head.

Sesshoumaru: (Moved in lightning speed and disappeared.)
