Chapter 5: As Days Goes By

Jaken threw infuriated glares at Sakura who sat even further away from the group now. His back still hurts after she had thrown an enormous rock on him. He was surprised himself, on how Sakura could be able to carry such a big rock. Sakura turned and glares at Jaken, and then both of them turned away with a "Humph!"

Sakura was still mad at Jaken who had peeked on her while she took her bath. Rin could feel the tension in the group went over to Sesshoumaru nervously.

"Sesshoumaru-sama," Rin called looking up at his handsome face. "Is it only me, or is it Sakura-neechan very angry?"

Sesshoumaru looked over to Sakura's fuming face. She still looked just as pretty even though she was angry. He wondered if she would be angry at him too if she knew that he was the one that had saw her not Jaken. Though of course he wouldn't want her to know, and if Jaken dares to say a word to her, it would be death sentence to him.

Why must I care whether she is angry at me or not, Sesshoumaru thought, and turned looking down at Rin curious face he then spoke.

"I don't know…"

Rin blinked and turned back to Sakura, she skipped over to her then shaking her shoulders.

"Neh, Sakura-neechan," Rin said. "Come play with me… don't be angry at me!"

"Huh?" Sakura looked at Rin raising her eyebrows. "Why must I be angry at you?"

"You hadn't been talking to me for almost the whole morning," Rin said still shaking on her shoulders. "Rin is hungry, want to go look for some food with me?"

Sakura smiled and nodded.

"Sesshoumaru-sama, Rin and Sakura-neechan will be back soon," Rin shouted to him as Sakura stood up brushing the dirt off her skirt. "Come neechan!"

Rin hold Sakura's hand and pulled her into the forest.

"Whoa, slow down!" Sakura chuckled.

Sakura waited for Rin as she went to pick some fruits for lunch. She couldn't help much because she had no knowledge on which fruits were poisonous or not. However, Rin who was used to picking her own food knew which to pick and which not to pick.

"Sakura-neechan," Rin cried. "Look this fruits are eatable!"

Sakura went over to Rin and knelt down looking at the bush Rin was examining. The fruit look foreign to Sakura so she had no idea whether it could be eaten or not.

"Are you sure Rin?"

"Hai," Rin nodded picking the fruit then. "I had eaten them before, they are very sweet!"

"Soh kah…" Sakura whispered and started to help Rin pick them as well.

Sesshoumaru could still hear Sakura and Rin for they are not far away. He had always told Rin not to run off too far so that he could be able to sense them in the distance. However, this time he could sense something else, and it seemed like it was approaching Sakura and Rin in a fast pace. Sesshoumaru dashed into the woods towards them.

"Ah Sesshoumaru-sama, where are going?" Jaken cried running after his master.

Sakura turned her head slightly when she felt something approaching them. She wasn't sure but she just had a feeling, bad aura was coming close. Quickly she pulled Rin up as she stood up on guard pushing Rin to her back. She had no weapons or sharp object with her so she was slightly frightened too. What happen if it was as big as that centipede she had seen the first day she came to this place.

"What is it Sakura-neechan?" Rin asked slightly scared too.

"Hush, Rin…" Sakura whispered.

Rin quickly shut her hands over her mouth and nodded.

Sakura's eyes moved rapidly all around her as she tried to detect which side that thing was going to appear. She then heard rustling straight in front of her and she focus on that area. She pushed Rin further behind her, making herself as a shield to protect Rin. She didn't want to see Rin getting hurt at all due to her carelessness.

True enough an enormous snake like Youkai, almost tenth feet tall dashed out from behind the thick and tall trees coming over to them. Sakura grabbed Rin and dodge away from it quickly. All she could do now was defense for she had no weapon.

Moh, this is great, first Jaken look at me taking a bath, now this… she thought with frustration.

Even so, she was quick; this snake was much faster than she was. Even faster than the centipede she had fought with. When it got ready for its second attack Sakura knew that she and Rin wouldn't be able to make it away. As quickly as possible she lifted Rin and tossed her away from harms way and she landed safely in a bush. Sakura fell back to the ground then as she watched the snake Youkai bearing its sharp teeth at her coming towards her in full speed. She turned away from it, shutting her eyes tight, using her arm to shield herself, she thought she would have her head beaten off any minute then but it never happened. Gradually she opened her eyes; she peeked over her arm and saw Sesshoumaru standing before her, his Toikijin out in his hand on his knees and the Snake Youkai was slashed into two.

"Wah, Sesshoumaru-sama, you are so amazing!" Rin cried happily emerging from the bush.

Sesshoumaru had made it to the scene to see Sakura trapped and not knowing how to protect Rin she had threw her away from harms way but unable to escape herself. He jumped into the occurrence then slashing the Snake Youkai which was advancing in a rapidly way towards Sakura. He landed charmingly in front of Sakura on his knees. He stood up then still looking the Youkai before him.

Sakura, stood up slowly looking at the Youkai slightly flabbergasted, she still stood behind Sesshoumaru. Sesshoumaru's eyes narrowed then, when he saw the snake beginning to wrinkle as it formed itself to attach its body back together.

"Rin, stay down!" Sesshoumaru said strictly. "Girl, don't move."

Sakura freeze on the spot as she watched the snake beginning to heal. She was shocked that was why she stopped moving not because Sesshoumaru told her too. She was the type who hates people commanding her. The only person who could do that was only her father and no one else. She frowned slightly at his statement, slightly annoyed but it didn't last for long when the snake started to attack again.

Rin disappeared into the bush again.

Getting tired of it, Sesshoumaru raised his Toikijin using the sword's aura, he slashed the snake again. The snake shattered into pieces and a small shiny pink shard flew out of its body. Sakura blinked watching the scene as Sesshoumaru diminished the Snake Youkai. She blinked not believing her eyes.

Whoa! She thought to herself silently. He is really good…

As soon as the thought came into her head, she blushed. Baka! She scolded herself. He is a Youkai too; you can't trust him too much.

She was however curious about the pink crystalline shard that flew out of its body so she advanced it slowly and cautiously. Rin appeared from the bush then smiling happily running over to Sesshoumaru.

"Sesshoumaru-sama!" Rin cried happily. "Arigatou!"

Sakura knelt down and was about to pick the shard up when, Sesshoumaru stopped her. She felt him gripping her shoulder tightly.

"Leave it." He ordered.

"But…" Sakura turned to him and saw that he was very serious. Even though he was serious all the time but this time, she had a feeling that Sesshoumaru would do anything to stop her from picking that shard up. She didn't dare to think what he would do, if she disobeyed him. Not wanting to be killed by him, she stood up.

"Let's go," He told her and Rin.

Sakura nodded but didn't move however Rin trailed along behind Sesshoumaru quickly. Sakura turned her head around to have one last look at the shard again before she followed Sesshoumaru.

"Shikono Tama, right ahead!" Kagome cried as she cycled in full speed on her bicycle. Shippo sat in the basket in front of her bike.

"Hurry up then," Inuyasha yelled jumping high up as he moved swiftly trying to get to the destination quickly.

"I don't feel any bad aura," Sango said. She was riding on Kirara with Miroko at her back; he was starting to grab her butt, when Sango's Hiraikutsu went crashing down his head. "Are you sure, there is a Shikono Tama Kagome-chan?"

"Hai, I'm very sure, we are getting closer." Kagome cried.

When they got to the scene they saw the dead Youkai, which had vanished, remaining only bones behind. The shard lay on its side. Kagome got off the bike, went over to pick it up.

"Who would kill the Youkai and leave the shard behind?" Miroko asked in wonder walking over to Kagome.

"That is very strange," Sango agreed with him. "I mean whoever who did this must be very powerful and everyone knows what this shards are, they will be very happy to get one, but he left it behind."

Inuyasha studied the Youkai on his knees and a familiar scent caught his nose. He stood up immediately smelling the air.

"Sesshoumaru…" He growled. "I'm sure Sesshoumaru was here."

"It looks like he had no interest in the Shikono Tama." Kagome said softly keeping the shard into the jar hung around her neck.

"There is another smell," Inuyasha turned to Kagome slowly. "I make no mistake…"

"What Inuyasha?" Kagome asked curiously.

"Your cousin," Inuyasha said as he sniffed the air. "She is here too, with Sesshoumaru."

Kagome paled.

After diminishing the Youkai, Sesshoumaru decided that they should make a move immediately. He knew that his stupid brother will be coming soon for he and that human girl were looking for shards everywhere. The last thing ever he wants to do was to meet Inuyasha. He rose in the air as clouds form around his feet with Jaken standing next to him on his clouds as he flew in the air. Sakura and Rin were on Ah Aun flying next to him as they left their camp site.

"So, Inuyasha?" Kagome asked anxiously as Inuyasha sniffed the ground. "Where are they?"

"Straight ahead!" Inuyasha said running towards the clearing.

All of them stopped at the abandon camp site; there was no mistake by the burned fire woods and by the look of the sizzling smoke out of the blackened wood that they had left not long ago. Inuyasha knelt down again sniffing the ground he stopped at the edge of the wood and stood up growling.

"Shit, they took off." He snarled. "He must have flown off from here. I can't smell him or your cousin anymore."

Kagome looked up the sky worriedly. Please be alright, Sakura, she thought fearfully.

Another peaceful and normal day passed by as Sakura watched Rin playing in the river with Jaken. She had sat a distant away from Sesshoumaru who was also sitting on the ground watching Rin. She sighed out loud then, and lay back on the ground with her hands behind her head.

When can I go home? Sakura thought again as she watched birds flew across the bright blue sky.

What is constantly in her mind? Sesshoumaru wondered as he turned his eyes to the corner to look at Sakura. She seemed a lot happier than the first time he met her but it still seemed like she was worrying about something all the time.

"Jaken," Sesshoumaru called.

Jaken who was soaked from top to toe because Rin was splashing water at him turned to look at the Lord curiously.

"Come with me." Sesshoumaru stood up. "Rin, stay here with Sakura and Ah Aun."

Sakura moved her eyes over to Sesshoumaru. Jaken and he were already walking away from the clearing.

Ah reh? That was the first time he used my name. She thought and her heart skipped a beat. Frowning at why suddenly she felt herself blushing she turned her gaze away from Sesshoumaru and focus on the bright blue sky. Her view was then block by Rin looking down at her with a cheerful smile.

Sakura smiled in returned and sat up. Rin sat next to her then.

"What are you doing?" Rin asked.

"Just resting," Sakura said. There was a short pause and Sakura asked. "Rin where are your parents?"

"They're dead," Rin said slightly sadly but the smile remained on her face. "Papa, mama, oniisan were killed by bandits long time ago. I was there when I saw it."

Sakura gasped inwardly. That is horrible… she thought.

Another short pause.

"How did you meet Sesshoumaru-sama?" Sakura asked then.

"I saw him wounded in the forest not far from the village I stay." Rin said. "I helped him, and one day I was chased by wolfs and got killed. Sesshoumaru-sama brought me back to life."

"Eh?" Sakura looked at Rin disbelievingly.

"It's true!" Rin exclaimed when she saw Sakura looking at her oddly.

Suddenly realizing that they weren't alone anymore, they turned around and saw Jaken and Sesshoumaru had already returned.

That was fast, Sakura thought, usually when Sesshoumaru leave her and Rin he would take quite a long time to return from his matters.

"Hey human," Jaken cried at Sakura.

"Which one?" Sakura answered back sarcastically.

"None of your wise cracks, you of course." Jaken said angrily. "Come with me."

"Why must I?" Sakura asked not wanting to move.

Jaken fumed. "Don't make me make you come with me!"

"I would love to see you try." Sakura smiled impishly.

Sesshoumaru watched both them bickering at each other amusedly though he didn't show it. He wondered if Sakura would be as disobedient as she was with Jaken if he asked her instead. Jaken then turned to Sesshoumaru helplessly but not daring to give up he turned to Sakura angrily again.

"I have something to ask you come with me!" Jaken cried angrily.

"Why can't you ask me here?" Sakura asked innocently.

Jaken was about to explode then.

"What is that, such a secret you can't ask in front of Sesshoumaru-sama and Rin?" Sakura smiled seeing Jaken struggling for words. "Don't tell me you have weird thoughts in your head again."

"I would vomit to have such feelings for a human being like you!" Jaken shouted furiously at her.

Sakura frowned slightly her anger rising too but she kept it at bay. "Well, it is up to you, you want to ask me something, you ask me here. I don't want to go anywhere private with you. I wouldn't know what you have in mind. Hentai!"

"You are calling Jaken a hentai?" Jaken spluttered.

"Hai," Sakura said standing crossing her arms in front of her and looked at Jaken crossly. "The last time, you watch me bath now you want me to go somewhere private with you?"

"I was looking for Se…" Jaken started but Sesshoumaru had stopped him from saying any further by stepping on him walking away from the quarrel.

Stupid Jaken can't even do anything right. He thought and he almost gave his master away. All he had asked him to do was ask Sakura what was bothering her and he can't even do it. Sesshoumaru stopped on his tracks.

When did I start to care about what she wants? He wondered and turned around to see Jaken and Sakura continued on their quarreling as Rin stood aside giggling at the scene. It had only been a week or more that Sakura was with them and he had started to care about what she thinks.

Frowning slightly he turned away from them and looked up the sky.

Am I becoming like my father? He wondered.

His thoughts were interrupted when he caught a scent very near them. It was a very familiar scent to him but at the same time hoping that the scent didn't belong to whom he thinks it was. He turned to that direction, his magical whip appearing from his fingers he swung them over the tress where his sensed someone standing there. Sakura, Jaken and Rin turned to him surprised and were even more surprised when a woman wearing a white kimono with dark red roses on it and a maroon ribbon tied behind her back, jumped into the air and land in front of Sesshoumaru.

Sesshoumaru's eyes narrowed when he saw her smiling at him sweetly.

It's her again. He thought frustrated but his face remained like a carved marble.

Ray: Hahaha, another chapter done!

Sakura: Moh, Jaken is getting on my nerves. I hope you can get rid of him once and for all.

Sakura: Yeah, right.

Ray: You know; you are angry at him just because he saw you bathing. It is just that it doesn't look like what it seemed to be. After all it was Se…

Sesshoumaru: (Moved swiftly up next to Ray and flex his claws in front of her) What were you saying?

WHAMP!!!!

Ray: (Fell off her chair and quickly got back up again) Nothing, nothing! I didn't say anything! (Sweat drop)

Sesshoumaru: Get on with your story.

Ray: Hai (turned away from Sesshoumaru's murderous stare)

Ray's thoughts: Don't kill me, if you do, the story will be discontinued.

I know the chapters seemed to be getting longer ^_^ well, I really hope it didn't bore you all to death. I didn't have time to re read or do any editing for this chapter. Hope you all don't mind if there is any grammar or spelling mistakes. *_*
