Chapter 16: Hearts Attached in Different Realms

Sakura was half glad to see Higurashi Shrine as she walked out from the small wooden hut. She had been away for so long she couldn't believe she was finally home. She looked around as the sky was already shrieked with red and yellow as the sun was setting. She stood by the door of the wooden hut looking around slowly drinking in the scenery of buildings in Tokyo, the cars that parked at the side of the road and electric poles.

Kagome turned to see Sakura standing by the door looking daze and smiled. That was exactly how she looked when she came back here for the first time after a shocking three days in the feudal time. She had only been there three days but Sakura had been there for a month, and with Sesshoumaru. She shivered slightly thinking about him. She went over to her slowly and put her hand on her shoulder to ensure her.

"I'm really home…" Sakura whispered.

"Hai, mama, Ojiisan and Souta will be waiting for you inside the house." Kagome said. "They are all very worried about you."

Sakura nodded as Kagome linked her arm around hers and they both headed to the door.

"Taidemas, Mama, Ojiisan, Souta!" Kagome cried. "See who I had brought back with me this time?"

"Kagome is that you?" Mrs. Higurashi walked out from the kitchen and saw Sakura next to Kagome, her eyes lit up. "SAKURA!!!!!"

"Sakura is home?" Souta asked running out from the living room where he was playing Play Station.

"That is so good she is back!" Ojiisan cried running out after Mrs. Higurashi not long later.

"We had been so worried!" Mrs. Higurashi cried.

Everyone rushed up to her embracing her happily, Ojiisan crying slightly and Souta jumping up and down slightly. Kagome stood slightly away watching her family greeting Sakura with a smile on her face. Sakura was smiling happily as she looked at all of them but somehow… that happiness didn't really reach her eyes. Kagome noticed that, what else was Sakura seeking for?

"Sesshoumaru-sama?" Jakken whispered softly watching him as he continued on the journey.

"What Jakken?" He answered expressionlessly looking straight ahead.

They had started on their journey again, straight away after Sakura left. He went back to the palace and had taken Ah Aun and brought Rin and Jakken along. They had already been walking for the whole night and Rin was already asleep on Ah Aun and still he didn't want to stop as he continued to walk in the forest. Something was nagging him to ask Inuyasha what had happened to Sakura, his Sakura. Where did his wench Kagome; brought her? But knowing that he couldn't bring himself to ask Inuyasha anything he pushed the thought away.

"I was thinking if we could take a break?" Jakken whispered timidly. "It's is over midnight…"

Sesshoumaru remained silent as he continued to stare straight ahead. Jakken sighed silently and looked down the ground. His little feet were tired from walking and his hand was sore from pulling Ah Aun's reins. He looked back and saw Rin sleeping soundly and sighed again.

The girl sleeps, he thought. How lucky… if only I can as well.

Not long later they reached a clearing where there was a river nearby. Sesshoumaru finally sank down at one of the trees to rest. Jakken was so happy, when he saw Sesshoumaru finally stopping quickly got over to tie Ah Aun to a tree near to Sesshoumaru, and sank down on the ground to get some rest before they travel again like this tomorrow.

Sesshoumaru however couldn't rest, to see someone else missing in the group. Sighing inwardly he looked at the sky which it was filled with stars blinking and saw the full moon. He smiled slightly his mind bringing him to Sakura. How she liked to lay on the grass looking up the star filled sky. He could remember her figure clearly; she would always be a distant from him as she lay comfortably on her back and both her hands behind her head.

"Sakura, are you well?" Sesshoumaru whispered closing his eyes holding her in his memory. "Oyasumi…"

Sakura sat by the window staring out the window at the full moon when she thought she heard Sesshoumaru's voice. She blinked as she looked down the window to see the dark back porch and nobody was in sight. Thinking that she was dreaming she pushed the thought away. It was way passed midnight and it could be because she was tired and was hearing things but she still couldn't sleep.

She could hear Kagome's slight snores through the walls; for her room was only next to hers. She smiled slightly and sighed. She missed Sesshoumaru so much and it had only been one night she had been away from him. She misses Rin too and her chatters and smiles. How much she hated it, she misses Jakken and their silly little quarrels too.

Kagome told Sakura many stories, when she was in Feudal era. How she fought off demons, and about Shikon no Tama. Besides that, she also told her about Naraku; their worst enemy. But what disturb Sakura most was when Kagome told her stories about Sesshoumaru; about how he had tried to kill her before, not once but many times and how he tried killing Inuyasha for his sword and how Inuyasha cut his arm off. She frowned slightly to think of two blood related siblings fighting like that spilling blood. So that was how he lost his arm. She never brought herself to ask such a personal question though she often wondered about it. She couldn't imagine it was his own brother, even though half brother; Inuyasha had cut it off with that sword he wanted for himself. Another thing that made Sakura uncomfortable was, Kagome telling how much Sesshoumaru loath humans…

"He despises them." Sakura could still hear Kagome's voice clearly in her head. "He never gave a damn about humans because he always thinks we humans are lowly creatures."

Sakura sighed, how she wished Kagome's words were false but she had heard things like that when she was in the palace from Reisha, it couldn't be true if two people had already told her the same thing. Shaking her ugly thoughts away she sighed again and smiled up at the moon.

He seemed really different to me. Sakura thought silently. Does it matter how others think about him? Most important of all is how I feel about him.

"Sesshoumaru-sama," Sakura whispered. "I miss you…"

Sesshoumaru's eyes snapped opened immediately when he thought he heard Sakura's voice. He blinked once looking around him. Jakken was sleeping not far from him. Rin was still on Ah Aun sound asleep and the sound of rushing water nearby could be heard. With a sigh he closed his eyes again. It must be a dream.

Sakura's eyes widened with surprised as she read the notes the teacher was writing on the board. She blinked several times trying to recall if she had come across this formula before but nothing came into her mind. She was totally lost.

I have no idea what is going on! Sakura exclaimed silently.

One after another lesson, Sakura stared dumbly at the board feeling depressed that she had no idea what was going on in class. It was the first time this had ever happened to her. She nearly fell off her chair when the Math teacher announced that they will have a test tomorrow.

Test! She exclaimed inwardly again.

RINNNGGGG!!!!!

Kagome and Sakura walked out the class with their head bowed. They had no idea what was going on in class and both of them had the same thought as they walked down the corridor.

All this time I had been studying in the Feudal era… they thought miserably.

"Sesshoumaru-sama, when is Sakura-neechan coming back?" Rin asked in the morning as they continued on their journey.

"In five days time…" Sesshoumaru replied shortly looking straight ahead remembering what Kagome said.

"So there is four more days to go!" Rin exclaimed sadly. "It seemed so long! How I wish the days would fly by quickly."

So do I… Sesshoumaru thought his heart feeling heavier everyday.

"Sakura you have a letter from Nagoya," Mrs. Higurashi said passing her an envelope in the morning.

They were all having breakfast in the kitchen before school and with the same mask of puzzlement on their faces; they stared at Sakura and the envelope curiously.

"Nagoya?" Sakura took the letter from her bewilderedly. "Who else would write to me in Nagoya?"

"Open it." Souta said his mouth full.

Sakura tore the envelope and pulled out a letter which looked formal and frowned.

"It's from my father's attorney." Sakura said softly reading through the letter quickly. "According to him, he said there are some things my father had left for me after his death. I have to go there to collect them."

"Do you need me to accompany you?" Mrs. Higurashi asked. "Usually an adult should be present when it comes to legal procedures…"

"The letter said it is not necessary for an adult to be present…" Sakura said looking up from the letter. "I'll go by myself…"

"But…" Kagome began to protest however, Mrs. Higurashi interrupted.

"As you wish Sakura." She smiled good naturedly. "Be careful alright, a teenage girl traveling all by yourself. But I'm sure it is no problem for you especially you do that so often. I'll book a flight ticket for you today and packed some clothes for you."

"Arigatou…" Sakura smiled and looked down the letter again wondering what her father had left for her.

Five days passed…

Kagome poked her head out from the wall of the well with a pant and slammed her huge yellow bag down the ground before she climbed out. Inuyasha and the rest were lying around lazily waiting for her. They knew that she would return today so they waited around to greet her when she comes up from the well.

"Hey, mina!" Kagome exclaimed. "I'm back!"

"About time too!" Inuyasha scoffed.

"Welcome back Kagome-chan!" Sango smiled and looked behind her. "Isn't Sakura coming back?"

"She is not around…" Kagome sat on the wall breathing heavily. "She went back to her home town and would only be back this evening. She told me to come back first."

"Doesn't she stay with you?" Inuyasha asked bewilderedly.

"Her home town is somewhere slightly further away from my town…" Kagome explained. "She went back to her town to settle some things her diseased father had left for her."

"So are we waiting for her to come back?" Miroku asked looking down the well.

Sango crossed her arms glaring at the monk. "Why do you care anyway?"

"Ahhh…" Miroku turned to look at Sango uneasily. "Nothing, nothing…"

Sesshoumaru frowned down at happy chattering group below him as he stood at the high branch of a tree. Why didn't she return with Kagome? When he sensed Kagome's scent, he had rushed to Inuyasha Forest quickly only to see Kagome chattering with her group happily giving out things to her friends but Sakura was no where around. Not wanting to just stand in a tree and wait he jumped down to the ground and approached them.

Kagome looked up slightly uncomfortable when he saw Sesshoumaru coming up to their group. Inuyasha quickly stood up and guarded his group glaring at him.

"What do you want Sesshoumaru?" Inuyasha asked furiously.

Sesshoumaru ignored him and walked around him to Kagome. Wide eye and slightly scared she took a step back when Sesshoumaru towered over her.

"Where is Sakura?" Sesshoumaru frowned down at her.

"Sesshoumaru leave her alone!" Inuyasha yelled running to her and so did they rest.

"She went back to her home town…." Kagome said slightly scared.

"Why do you disappear when you jump down the well?" Sesshoumaru asked then.

"It brings us home…." Kagome stammered slightly. "To our time…"

"Your time?" Sesshoumaru quirked his delicate eyebrows. "Explain."

"We leave in the future Sesshoumaru…" Kagome said relaxing a little when she realized Sesshoumaru wasn't going to kill her. "Five hundred years from now to be exact…"

Sesshoumaru turned away from her and looked down the well his face void from all expression though his pain in his heart was killing him slowly when he thought of Sakura choosing to stay in her time forever. Even though traveling through time sounded absurd but he knew Kagome was telling him the truth. He could not sense any false aura from her.

"Sakura and you can travel through time?" Sesshoumaru asked quietly.

"Inuyasha can go through too…." Kagome said. "We used to be the only ones that can. Then Sakura came to stay with me, I didn't know she could and I think she accidentally fell into the well on the second day she was in my home and the well brought her here… That was when I realized that she could come through too."

Sesshoumaru remained silent for moment, thoughts swirling in his mind as he looked down the well. Kagome said that his half brother can go through the well too. If his half brother could, why couldn't he? He hadn't try he wouldn't know if he could. All he wanted was to just see Sakura again. Without thinking about what he was doing he put his hand on the wall lifted himself up and jumped across into the well.

"Sesshoumaru, its no use, not everyone can…" Inuyasha yelled running to the well to look down.

A bright pink light illuminated from the bottom of the well and Sesshoumaru was gone. Kagome and Inuyasha stared into the well with utmost horror on their faces. They looked at each other and then back at the well again.

"Oh, SHIT!!!!" They said at the same time and jumped in.

Miroku, Sango, Shippou and Kirara went closer to the well and looked down their mouth hanging opened.

"This is not good…" Miroku said staring down the well where the three had gone through.

"Definitely not good…" Sango said shaking her head slowly.

"Poor, Kagome…" Shippou said softly.

"Meow!" Kirara inclined his head looking down the well.

"So my suspicious are confirmed." Naraku said with an evil smile as he watched the group in Kanna's mirror. "I would use her, but first I will have to make her mind…"

"Do you think she will listen to you?" Kagura asked looking into the mirror too.

"I will make her choose, and I will make sure she works for me …"

"And how are you going to do that?" Kagura asked crossing her arms. "I'm not going to do anything silly…"

"You don't have to; there is someone who will…" Naraku narrowed his eyes. "Bring Xiaran…"

"Che…" Kagura scoffed and walked away.

Naraku: So when will Sakura returned.

Ray: You are as impatient as Sesshoumaru! She will soon…

Sesshoumaru: How dare you compare be with that hayou scum

Inuyasha: How dare you call hayou a scum?

Sesshoumaru: I wasn't implying it to you, you admitted that yourself.

Inuyasha: Oh…

Ray: (Rolled her eyes) Very smart Inuyasha…

Inuyasha: What is that suppose to mean….

Ray: Nothing, nothing…

Sesshoumaru: What are you doing here Naraku…?

Naraku: (Smiled) that is none of your concerned.

Inuyasha: (Wipe out his tetsaiga) Oh yeah…

Sesshoumaru took out his Tokijin his face void from all emotions staring at Naraku.

Ray: Uh oh… (Grabbed her laptop and ran for the second time)

Ray's thoughts: Can't I at least have some peace for once?

There you go, how is the story so far… sorry I have to stopped at the moment Sesshoumaru gone to Kagome's and Sakura's time…. Hehehee… a cliffy there…. Don't worry I won't let you all wait too long… I will post up the new chapter soon… I'm already half way through it.

Next chapter; `Sesshoumaru in Higurashi Shrine'

I was thinking of `Sesshoumaru in the Future' but it sounded really funny….
