Say0mi Saki: Thank you, thank you, thank you…I love to give readers what I like to read, hoping you’ll enjoy it as much as I do. It’s just better when you can imagine it in your head, isn’t it? That review right there had me bringing up Microsoft word JUST LIKE THAT to work on the next chapter!
And to all of my other fans, thank YOU. It just makes me smile, knowing people love my fanfiction. And being called a Lemon Queen…well, I’ll be damned. I freaking love writing those sex scenes…
The words were like a mini explosion coming from her lips. Shocked. Disbelief. Horror? Yea, maybe a little horror from the way her eyes widened like that. Maybe a little confusion, too. Inuyasha hadn’t meant to say that. He’d been fighting it. He’d been trying so hard to keep that secret to himself…but dammit, tonight had pushed him just a little too far. Kagome hadn’t helped matters, either. He didn’t know what made him say it.
“Kagome Higurashi…” He tested her name, her full name, on his lips. And he liked it. “Priestess…” Not so much the second. “You are my Mate.” He liked the sound of the last even better.
She was his WHAT? One of his clawed fingertips tapped against the brick wall behind her, an insistent ticking. She was his WHAT? No—NO—she was not. First of all, she was a Priestess. Second, she was human. Third, well, she didn’t do Demons. Fourth, no, let that be second—She was human and he was definitely a Demon. “No, I’m not.” Her voice came out rushed, the words almost jumbled together.
“I could argue that point.”
Her mouth dropped open. She closed it with a snap of her teeth. What was she going to say? What could she say…”I’m human.” She blurted.
“I noticed.”
“I’m not—“ She huffed. She was not this Demons Mate. That was impossible. Only Demons Mated Demons. That was a fact….wasn’t it? “I’m a Priestess.” And Demons did not Mate to Priestesses’.
“No shit.” Was he LAUGHING?
Kagome silently fumed at that. This was a sick, twisted perverted joke on his part. She was tempted to punch him but she highly doubted that she could hurt him. She’d likely end up breaking her knuckles. “I’m not your Mate.”
“We’re just going to have to agree to disagree on that, aren’t we?”
Her mouth dropped open again; she was almost sputtering. He was…outrageous. His right hand slid along the ridged wall, one of his fingers twirling in her hair. He gave it a small tug. “You’re my Mate, alright.”
He didn’t see the need to hide that little bit of information anymore. He’d been right on the spot. His Mate was not taking it lightly.
“And when did you come to this conclusion?” Kagome snapped out. “From that little scene with the mirror? Please, is this some perverted joke between you and other Demons—“
“I came to this conclusion the first time you shocked my ass with those purification powers of yours. And it was like liquid fire piercing my veins.” That was when he’d realized who and what she was. His Mate. He was starting to realize a few things about her. She had a little temperamental issue that he was really starting to like. “What, don’t you remember?” He murmured.
For the first time since she met him, his eyes darkened to amber. And he didn’t laugh; he gave a low chuckle as his hand slid up—away from the wall. He circled her wrist with his fingers and lifted her hand, showing her their linked hands, even though he only held her wrist. “Ring in bells in that head of yours?”
She remembered. Oh yea, she remembered. She wouldn’t have touched him if he’d listened to her. But that still didn’t…”Demons and Humans don’t Mate.”
He heard a touch of, what was that, weakness in her voice? Good. That’s where he wanted her. Because she was his Mate. “That may be the case, but it doesn’t change the fact that you are my Mate.”
Ohhhh. He sounded so calm, so sure of himself. He was so freaking arrogant. Why hadn’t she noticed that before? “You’re insane.” She lifted her hand, pointing a finger at him. “I am not your Mate and you know it. Demons do not Mate humans. That’s been known for hundreds of years.”
He actually laughed at that, his head falling back slightly before he was staring down at her with that amusing glow in his eyes. He brought her hand to his mouth and kissed her knuckles before she jerked her hand down, scowling. He chuckled. “Well, that trends about to change.” He damn well knew you couldn’t fight Fate.
“Ohhh.” Kagome groaned out, slapping her hand against his chest.
Inuyasha frowned. “Did you just hit me?”
“You’re asking—Ah!” Yes, she’d just slapped him, albeit in his chest, but she’d still hit him. And he hadn’t even felt it?
He laughed softly at the infuriating look on her face. She wasn’t as mad as she was letting on, that much he could tell. She just didn’t believe it. He hadn’t been lying when he’d agreed. Demons and Humans didn’t Mate. But that had been before he’d met her. There was no denying that she was his Mate. Sooner or later—sooner he hoped—she’d realize that.
This was new territory for the both of them.
His lips quirked. “If it makes you feel better—“ He gave her hair a teasing tug again. “—I’ve never had a Mate before.”
Kagome snorted. “No, I don’t imagine you have.” Her voice was laced with sarcasm. Even she knew that Demons only had one Mate. One Mate in their entire lifetime and she was human, she’d be dead long before his lifetime ended.
God, she made him want to laugh. Her little human mind refused to believe what he was telling her. He shifted his left arm up, still caging her in and braced his forearm against the wall. Still staring down at her, he grinned. “You know how Mates know one another?”
“No, but you’re going to tell me, I bet.”
His white teeth flashed at that. “When they kiss, it’s like the world explodes around them. Everything falls away.” At least, that’s what he’d heard.
“Don’t you dare—“
He kept his body from hers, separated by inches as spread his fingers, flattening his palm over the cold brick behind her. “It’s like everything else falls away.” He continued as his free hand slid down and cupped the side of her neck. “Kagome, let’s make everything fall away.” And he kissed her, pressing his lips against her warm ones. He moved them over hers and they were soft. So soft.
And then those dainty little teeth of hers were sinking into his bottom lip.
He jerked back, a grin splitting his lips as he touched his fingers to his bottom lip. “Ow, woman—“
She didn’t say anything, just glared up at him.
She hadn’t drawn blood. In fact, she hadn’t even tried to bite hard enough to do that. Not only that, Inuyasha could hear the ‘thump thump’ of her heart, feel the throb of her pulse against his thumb. Neither one of those was steady. He smiled again. His Mate was a little off and it wasn’t because of their argument. No, her pulse was racing. Her pulse was racing for an altogether different reason.
He heard her inhale as he leaned in again. “Now, let’s try this again…” His hand left the soft skin of her neck to twist in the hair at the nape of her neck. “Kagome…let’s make the world fall away.” He swooped. His mouth opened over hers, his tongue pushing past those petal soft lips and into the hot wetness within. And his entire fucking world dropped away at the taste.
She was sweet. Like dark chocolate, melting in his mouth. He wasn’t expecting that. He wasn’t expecting the rush of fire through his veins. It tore through him hard so that he was groaning into her mouth. He understood now. Understood what other Demons had said about Matings. When It hit, It hit hard. The fire went straight to his loins. He groaned, tightening his fist in her hair.
And Kagome, ye Gods. That sweet moan that rose up from her lips had his hand leaving the wall at her back. His hand smoothed down her back, his claws tugging at her clothes, leaving wrinkles along the way until he cupped her ass. He cupped one cheek and tugged her up, squeezing that succulent flesh. Jesus, he couldn’t get enough of her. His tongue was damn near down her throat, hell, her tongue was down his throat. He faintly heard her briefcase hit the paved sidewalk and then those small hands were in his hair, pulling, tugging. He groaned as one of those dainty fingers slid over his ear. Made his damn near want to purr!
He felt his hair swish over his back as her fingers tangled even tighter there, pulling it from the clip holding it. He growled, the sound a low vibration in his throat when she sucked his tongue into her mouth. He fell against her, his weight pushing her against the wall. He shifted his stance, spreading his legs slightly as he kept her against the wall with his weight. He kissed her harder, his tongue thrusting in and out and then rolled his hips against hers. Grinding the thick ridge behind his slacks against her.
She moaned again, the sound trapped between their lips and he did it again. He just wanted to hear that sweet music coming from her lips. He jerked his lips back, his breath fogging in the cool air. He bent his knees and hooked his hands around the back of her thighs and hoisted her up against the wall, letting his weight fall between her thighs. Just where he wanted it. He took her lips again as he rolled his hips against hers, thrusting into the heat between her thighs. Through the barrier of her pants and his, he could smell her sweet arousal. He could feel the heat burning through his slacks. He groaned again and rubbed up and down, grinding the thick ridge of his cock between her thighs—
His eyes flew open, molten amber burning red at the edges as a thick black club tapped against the wall beside their heads.
“Take it somewhere else.”
Ah, hell. Inuyasha unwrapped Kagome’s legs from around his waist as the Demon clad policeman patiently tapped his black club against the brick wall. “Take it somewhere else or you’ll both be spending the night in a cold cell for Public Indecency.” He could hear Kagome’s frantic breath as she tried not to panic. God knew she was embarrassed; he just thought it was cute to see her so flustered. Thank God she didn’t see the wink and salute the Demon Policeman gave him before he turned away. Obviously someone was on his side.
And Kagome, he caught her before she could turn away. He leaned in again. Her cheeks were a burning shade of pink and her eyes…they were so dark they were almost black. “Hey.” He couldn’t help but smile. “You know what they say about Kanna’s mirror?”
She opened her mouth but didn’t say anything—her mind was blank.
He leaned down, his eyes taking on that molten amber look again. “They say it shows the past and the future.”
She could still taste him in her mouth. His taste had been warm, like melted honey. An addicting, sweet taste. She’d never—never—jumped on any man like she had him. Well, she hadn’t jumped but the way she’d kissed him back, she might as well have. She’d bitten him the first time to warn him off, but not before she’d felt those lips of his. After that, well, she hadn’t been able to think. The moment she’d gotten a taste of him, she was drunk.
“…the world falls away.”
Her world had definitely fallen away and right into his hands. She’d almost climaxed against a cold, hard brick wall in the middle of winter, for Christ’s sake! She hitched the strap of her briefcase higher over her shoulder, her ears picking up the sound of his footsteps beside her. She refused to look at him. Especially after his last remark.
“They say it shows the past and the future.” He’d laughed when her mouth had dropped open and dammit, she’d punched his shoulder hard enough to cause him to stumble. But he’d still laughed. And then he’d kissed her again. But she’d had the last word.
“You’re insane. I’m not your Mate.”
She was working an insane Lawyer. God, how was she going to make it through the rest of the case? How was she going to make it through the rest of the case working with this sexy piece of—
She groaned and cast a look at her companion. “You don’t have to walk me. I’m just going by my office to file these folders.” Good, she sounded normal.
“Yes, I do.”
She glared at him and then unlocked the side door instead of the main entrance. “You’re impossible.”
He grinned. “Yes, I am. And you’re an impossible Mate, so I think we fit—“
Kagome groaned again. If he would just stop saying that word…she could think. He wasn’t listening. He was very thorough in his way of ignoring her. She almost snorted again. If she was his Mate, he wouldn’t ignore her. She was tempted to tell him that. His hand snaked out as she opened the door, latching onto her wrist. “You don’t want to go in there.”
She frowned, staring at the loose shackle around her wrist. “I have to. Now let go.” She shook his wrist off and then stopped. He jerked his hand back before she could even bring her spiritual energy to the surface…Dammit, was he already figuring her out? He looked up the stairs for a moment, the look on his face expressionless before he shrugged and pushed the door open further. “Suit yourself.”
Her eyes narrowed but she turned. He was weird. He definitely was not sane. He was one hell of a kisser—She blew out a heavy breath. At least she could breathe now. Her heart wasn’t threatening to pound through her chest anymore. She was just…unsettled. Never in history had there been any recordings of a Demon and Human mating.
She had some studying to do.
She turned the corner on the first flight of stairs and then paused as she heard a low screech, the sound of furniture moving. Barely. What…She could see a low brim of light coming from Miroku’s office, his open door. And as she stopped in front of the door, she could hear the sounds. But she didn’t need to hear the sounds because the door was wide open and she was seeing more of Miroku than she EVER wanted to see. Oh my God…
Her mouth fell open, she wasn’t going to say anything, she was too shocked but she couldn’t stop the shocked noise coming from her mouth. A clawed hand clamped over her mouth before the sound could even leave her lips, yanking her away from the door. “Warned you, didn’t I?” Inuyasha whispered voice heated her hear as he started walking her backwards, one arm around her waist and the other hand over her mouth. Well, she wasn’t even walking, he was carrying her.
Was he laughing again?!
“Sorry, but I’ve been there, done that. Kind of embarrassing getting caught. Wouldn’t wish that on anyone.” So says why he stopped her from making a fool of herself, Miroku and Sango.
