InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ In the End ❯ Chapter Two ( Chapter 2 )
IN the END
Chapter two:
"Kik..Kikyou." He whispered completely shocked. Kagome stood next to Inuyasha, she too was just as shocked to see Kikyou as he was. 'Did she see us?' He wondered as the Priestess looked at him, her hatred flaring in her eyes as she yelled,
"DIE!"
Kikyou release the arrow sending it soaring threw the air quickly. The hanyou was frozen, unable to move and before he knew what hit him Inuyasha was pushed to the ground by Kagome.
"NO!" He screamed as he watched in horror. The arrow pierced her shoulder and she let out a scream of pain before she collapsed to the ground.
Inuyasha heard Kikyou laugh "I'll see you in hell." Then she disappeared back into the forest and the priestess was gone.
Inuyasha quickly rushed to Kagome's side, and held her in his arms. The blood trickled from her shoulder as she looked up at the hanyou.
"Kagome are you alright? Why the fuck did you do such a stupid thing?" He said gently pulling her closer.
She winced in pain as she smiled "I'm going to….be…ok.. I'm sorry.. I couldn't.."
'NO! What am I going to do?' He thought fighting against the tears "Hold on Kagome, I'm going to get you help! Kaede and Sango will know what to do." He picked Kagome up in his arms and lept into the air, running as fast as he could. He hoped that she would have a chance.
Kagome slowly put her hand on his cheek, "I..Inuyasha..I" he stopped and growled "Don't you dare die on me Kagome, I wont let you!"
She smiled and with the remainder of her strength she kissed him. Inuyasha kissed her back, but pulled away as the tears started to flow down his face. Kagome closed her eyes. "No Kagome don't…Please open your eyes, please look at me. Hold on we're almost there!"
Kagome winced again as she breathed heavily "Inuyasha, ..I'm..sorr-" her body twitched and then there was silence.
The hanyou blinked then let out a loud howling scream, "No..Kagome.." he couldn't' hold back his tears anymore, and he began crying so loudly. He was right they had almost been there, for he stood in the entrance of Kaede's village
"No! We were so close!" he screamed "Why! You should have hung on a little longer. They would have saved you!"
With all his crying and loud ranting screams as though he was a lunatic, Kaede and Sango came out of the hut and rushed over to the hysterical hanyou. There they saw Kagome, lying on the ground motionless, with an arrow in her shoulder.
-End of Flashback-
His heart couldn't bare it any longer, after he'd lost Kagome he had lost everything, his whole world crumbled at his feet. Sango didn't take it very well, and at the young miko's gathering Miroku had showed up. Inuyasha had told him the whole story, but the monk blamed the hanyou. "You could have prevented it, and I bet you didn't even go after Kikyou!" Miroku left the hanyou and he had gone over to Sango trying to comfort her. Kaede told Inuyasha, well she tried to tell him that Kagome being gone was not his fault. But the young half-demon took off into the forest and never looked back.
Every once in a long while he would go back to Kaede's village and visit Kagome's ashes, but he never spoke to anyone and made sure no one could see him, tonight though after watching the sun set, he turned and started walking. At first he had no clue to where he was going until he stumbled into Kaede's village. No one from the village was outside, so he sighed slowly dragging his feet through the dirt until he came to where Kagome's ashes lay. He saw the beautiful flowers that had bloomed
"I'm so sorry Kagome." It was all he was able to choke out as he fell to the ground and sobbed. He didn't know how long he was there for, but when the moon made it's way out of it's hiding spot he fell into a restless sleep. Many of the villagers saw the hanyou asleep next to the young Miko's resting spot and they had went and informed the village priestess, Kaede. She wandered over to where the poor half demon slept. Sighing she covered him with a blanket, "This should keep ye warm Inu-yasha." and then she crept away as silently as her old body would carry her.
Inuyasha awoke some time later in the day, his heart still mourned for Kagome. He missed her so much. Inuyasha got up and folded the blanket,
"Goodbye Kagome, until next time." Slowly he walked to Kaede's hut and rapped his knuckles on the side of the entrance.
"Come in young wanderer." A woman from inside said.
"Here, this is yours." He grunted dropping the folded blanket at the foot of the door as he entered. He sat down across from the old Priestess.
"Are ye still in grief over ye loss of Kagome, Inuyasha?" Kaede asked as she started to make some herbal tea.
The hanyou nodded, and wrapped his hands over his knees hugging them as though he was a young child again. Minutes later Kaede gave him a small cup filled with hot fresh tea. He looked at it before he gave in and drank silently.
"Inuyasha, tis been along time since ye have seen the others hasn't it?"
He sighed putting his cup of tea on the floor "Yeah, since the gathering I haven't seen anyone, nor have I wanted to."
She looked at the half demon curiously "And why have ye not?"
He grunted and stood quickly "Because I'm to blame for her death!" Kaede was shocked by his reply and grew furious from it and she scowled him with an angry tone "Ye did not Inuyasha! Tis Kikyou who is responsible."
Inuyasha knew that Kikyou shot the arrow and it was meant for him. Kagome had pushed him out of harm's way. That's why she was dead, because Kikyou aimed for him, not Kagome. He growled as he left the hut, walking away from the village. He walked to the bone eater's well, where everything had happened. He sat on the edge of the well like he had when he tried to stop Kagome from leaving him. He waited for her to come running from inside the trees and show him that she didn't actually die for him, but she never came.
The hanyou however didn't move a muscle for three days he sat there, his amber eyes staring straight ahead of him waiting for Kagome to jump from the brush and scream "Surprise". He imagined her long slender body, silky jet-black hair. The school uniform she always wore, fluttering in the wind as she smiled, giggling at him.
"Oh, Inuyasha stop fooling around, we've got to go back to the village. Kaede will be worried if we are not back soon." He imagined her saying those words in her sweet soft voice. Inuyasha didn't notice it but the sky grew dark and he began to change.
His silver hair blew in the wind, the color slowly darkened turning black. His ears and long claws disappeared and the normal human ears replaced his old dog ones. Inuyasha sighed as he caught sight of his hair, he no longer cared all he wanted, and all he wished for was to be with Kagome, where ever she was now, he wanted to be there, holding her hand and never letting go.
These thoughts made his heart ache, for he knew it wasn't ever going to be possible. He closed his eyes for a bit and thought of her laughing, smiling, and being happy. Which when she was with him never seemed possible either. He had never been able to make her happy, that is until the end when everything was shattered into pieces by a dead priestess who took it all away from him.
He heard something coming from the forest, he could hear the dead leaves crunching and his eyes lit up, "Kagome?"
She came out into the open, her long black hair blowing in the wind, then he growled angrily yet very disappointed "Kikyou…"
The Priestess smiled "Yes it is me Inuyasha, some how I knew I'd fine you here." She stayed her distance, for she came to end his misery and crush him completely, leaving him a broken man. She began to laugh at his appearance, "Your nothing but a human now Inuyasha."
He growled louder becoming very angry. He wasn't sure why she had came, but as far as he was concerned, Kikyou was not welcomed. "Bitch, leave while you still have the chance!" He bellowed not moving from his spot.
"A bitch am I? Inuyasha, you say such evil things about me, but you have no real hatred for me do you?" She grinned.
He was blinded by his anger and hatred for the priestess Kikyou, the hanyou leaped off the well and rammed her into a tree, where Inuyasha pinned her with his hands. "Fuck you Kikyou!" He snapped loudly in her ear.
She winved a bit but all she could do was smile, "I see you are mad Inuyasha, are you still upset about that girl?"
Inuyasha grew even more enraged as he tore Kikyou's bow, quiver and arrows from her back and crushed them with his hands. "What makes you say that wench!"
"I can see it in your face," she said calmly glancing over at her broken bow and arrows.
"Can you also see that you're going to die if you don't leave me!" He growled.
Now the grin on her face grew even wide "Why would you kill me Inuyasha? Is it because I killed that pathetic girl, or is it that you still haven't figured out why I killed her?"
Inuyasha glared at the priestess confused, his anger subsiding but being replaced by his uncertainty of what he'd just heard. "Y-you. you meant to kill Kagome?"
Kikyou laughed loudly, "Of course I did! You're a fool Inuyasha," she turned and started to walk away. She stopped at the entrance of the forest trees "Come fine me when you're smart enough to figure it out Inuyasha, then we'll talk!" The she disappeared from the hanyou's sight.
Inuyasha sat down in the wet grass and began to think, 'Why would Kikyou intentionally kill Kagome?' and even go as far as to aim at him. These thoughts dwelled in his brain until the morning light poured over him and he became his normal half demon self again. But still the hanyou couldn't grasp his answer.
"I know!" He said jumping up, "I will go back to Kaede's village and ask for her opinion!", 'Not like I need it though..' He thought as he quickly ran towards the village.
As he entered the village he quietly walked towards Kaede's hut, he stopped a few feet from the entr
