Chapter 10
After three more full days of spent at the festival, Inuyasha was going stir crazy. So on Thursday of that weed, Kagome suggested a day in town. They started in the morning at the local science museum so Inuyasha could see a little of why Kagome's world was like it was. Inuyasha was confused when he saw images of the Egyptian gods with their animal heads. He thought they looked like demons. At lunch, Kagome commented on Inuyasha's new clothes. He was wearing a plain black tank top and olive green cargo shorts. He had his hair pulled back with a red bandana that covered his ears. Souta had come up with the brilliant idea of getting him sandals. They were more comfortable then the shoes that would have constricted his feet.
“Thanks,” he had replied, “they feel too light though.”
“That's because you're not used to them. They'll feel better in time.” Kagome fanned herself with her hand. “It's hot out here, why don't we go see a movie?”
“What's that?”
“It's like TV only a lot bigger. So what do ya' say?”
“Okay I guess.”
“Great, lets go check the times.”
They settled on a martial arts action flick, something Inuyasha could relate to. It was an American made movie called Underworld. In order to pass the time before the movie, they decided to do a little shopping in the area. First they browsed through a bookstore, then an art store. At the art store, Inuyasha found an interesting painting. It was of the earth as seen from the moon. Standing on the moon was a main with long silver hair that looked just like Sesshomaru. Kagome bought it for him to put on her wall. The framer told them to pick it up in a few weeks.
About then it was time for the movie. They got seats towards the back of the theater so they could see the screen really well. Not many people sat near them, Inuyasha's scowl kind of put people on edge. He didn't like the seats, they were small and they separated him from Kagome.
The movie confused Inuyasha at first. He didn't know what vampires or werewolves were and wasn't it obvious that they were all demons? He laughed at Lucian's dog comment and made a reference to Koga, then snarled at Kraven when he argued with Selene. He snarled again when Lucian bit Michael's neck, than grabbed Kagome's hand when the bullets fell out of him. When Selene pointed the gun at Michael in the car Kagome said it was almost as effective as when she activated his necklace. He snarled at many other events in the film, such as when Kraven slapped Selene. Kagome finally had to shush him when he growled all through the scene with Lucian and Kraven in the limo. That was when he realized that Kagome was snuggled against him. He didn't know that the arms of the seats went up.
When Selene and Michael kissed in the interrogation room, Inuyasha drew Kagome's lips to his. During the next scene, (Author's Note: The one with Selene and Kraven bitching at each other.) Kagome giggled.
“Reminds me of me and Koga.”
When Selene hit Kraven, Inuyasha hugged her tightly. “I'm just glad you're with me,” he whispered softly.
“I thought you weren't ready to be with me yet.”
“Maybe, but I'm glad you're not with Koga either. Mangy wolf wouldn't know how to handle you.”
They kissed until alarms from the movie grew too annoying to ignore.
When Michael jumped out of the window of the apartment building, Inuyasha said, “not bad for a newly made demon.” And then when he started to change he asked, “I don't look that bad when I change do I?”
“No, “ she said truthfully, “but you're just as scary.”
“I am?”
“Yes, I worry about you when you become a demon. I don't know if I'll ever have you back.”
“You like me as a half-demon?”
“Yes, of course I like you as a half-demon. That's who you were born to be, Inuyasha.”
“Oh, Kagome, I never knew you felt that way about me.”
“I don't mind you as a human and I like you best as a half-demon, but I get scared when you're a demon. I never know what you might do, or if I'll lose you.”
“You will ALWAYS be able to bring me back, Kagome. You'll never lose me, as long as you want me.”
“I want you to stay as a half-demon, Inuyasha. And I always want to be with you.”
“Oh, my sweet Kagome,” he kissed her and held her and wished that he could have her. Maybe he did love her.
She finally made him stop in time for the final battle between the fully changed Michael and the vampire elder Viktor. He grinned when Michael leaped to Selene's aid. He would have done the same for Kagome without a second's thought. Kagome soon had to burry her head in Inuyasha's chest when Selene sliced through Viktor's head.
