InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ It Wasn't Supposed To Be Like This ❯ The Truth Behind The Mask ( Chapter 7 )

I am so sorry for the lack of updating. My Ethernet crashed and it has yet to be fixed. So I have to write my chapters, save them to a floppy, and upload them at the damn library. This is NOT the easiest thing to do. I will try to get down there more often, but it’s hard to make the time. No matter what though, I will NOT be abandoning this or my other fic. But do to my computer breakdown thingy, I will not be able to send these chapters to my beta reader. This completely sucks since my fics won’t be edited, but I can not help it. I’m sorry.

Well, as some of you already know, I have now 3 chapters of my latest fanfiction up. The beginning is really intense, but other then that, I think it’s going all right. Well, I hope at least. If anyone gets around to it, I’d be honored if you checked it out.

This chapter will give you a greater reflect upon Kagura and her feelings towards Mayuko along with her inner feelings and compassionate side. (And yes she does have one). I really don’t think she’s OOC, she is just different towards Mayuko then she is to others. She’s still rude and bitchy when she needs to be, so don’t worry.

Mayuko acts towards Naraku sort of how Chloe acts towards Altena every now and then. If anyone out there has watched Noir, you will understand what I mean, however, Naraku does NOT act to Mayuko as Altena acts in return to Chloe. But he does not push her away, deep in his mind he harbors feelings for her as if she were his daughter, but then again, that’s deep inside his mind.

Well, here we go…onto the next chapter!

Disclaimer still applies. If you feel the need to see it….go back a few chapters to like.

Chapter 6: The truth behind the mask

Kagome held tightly to Sesshomaru’s kimono as the wind flew through her hair. The damn youkai was flying her to fight his enemy simply to test her strength, could it get any worse? Suddenly, Sesshomaru stopped, Kagome slamming into his back.
“Toshio.” Sesshomaru said as Kagome hopped down from his back. “Is here.” And with that, he turned and picked her up, jumping just in time to avoid being struck by the element youkai’s thunder attack.

Kagome gulped, this may not be an easy win for her considering the hard time Inuyasha had with a youkai that could only control lightning. Toshio could control much more, Sesshomaru had filled her in a bit on the way to the clearing he was in. She had been panicking the whole way, but felt no desire to tell this to the taiyoukai, he would just laugh in her face and call her weak…she wouldn’t stand for that, she would take on this Toshio and impress the hell out of Sesshomaru, even if he doesn’t admit it.

She cautiously stepped alongside Sesshomaru, watching in disdain as the damn youkai laughed at her. Her face darkened as his deep voice filled the air. “So, you have brought a women-child to assist you in my defeat? And I thought you were just a fool, Sesshomaru. It seems you are weak and stupid as well. Bringing a girl into a fight that you will die in is not a smart thing to do, but no matter, I think I’ll have fun with her afterwards anyways.”

Kagome growled as Sesshomaru stood their seemingly unfazed. “I have not brought her to assist me in defeating you, but merely to defeat you herself. This is a test to us, and a battle that you will lose, to her.” Toshio scowled at Sesshomaru, stepping forward as if to engage in battle, taking his defensive stance.

Kagome readied an invisible shield around her and drew an arrow, notching it into her bow and aiming it towards him. The youkai chuckled, not feeling her energy as she hid it from her aura. He closed his eyes, “I’ll even give you a free shot.” And she shot. He opened his eyes right as her aura flared and barely jumped away from the arrow’s path of destruction. Toshio growled as he watched the arrow disintegrate the tree it landed it, a scowl ever apparent on his handsome face.

“So she’s a miko.” He all but snarled. Kagome shuddered at his hash tone though it seemed to have no effect of Sesshomaru who stood there, letting no emotions pass over his calm exterior.

‘Kami I envy his courage’ Kagome thought sarcastically, meeting Toshio’s gaze. She gulped as she saw grasped the intensity of his stare, the determination burning in his eyes green eyes. But no matter what, she would not back down from him. Even if she never wanted to fight him in the first place. She sighed, knowing that no matter what, she would be screwed.

Her eyes widened as Toshio ran forward at her, his hand glowing slightly yellow. She looked to Sesshomaru, who only nodded and jumped away. Today, she sighed, would be a very long day for her.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!

“Damn her!” Inuyasha yelled. “Right as I catch her scent, she changes directions, and might I add, that she is with SESSHOMARU!” Sango sighed, this had to be the fifth time he’d said the same thing about Kagome and his brother. When the hell would he just shut his mouth?

Miroku’s thoughts mirrored her own as the monk shook his head, sighing as the hanyou turned and growled at them when they didn’t reply to him. “Damn Shippo, Damn humans, damn Kagome.” Inuyasha whispered Kagome’s name as he tried to tell himself that it was all her fault that she was gone without protection and with his brother no less. But no matter how many times he told himself that, the guilt would not go away.

Maybe if he would have put in a little more effort in looking for Shippo, or maybe if he tried to comfort her more and she would have stayed. He couldn’t bring himself to believe her in danger, that would just make the guilt stronger, and he would no doubt leave his comrades in search of her. But they’d been traveling for hours and the humans needed rest. But he didn’t want to rest until he found her the same as Kagome not wanting to rest until she found Shippo. Maybe she felt how he did, and that’s why she left.

‘No matter,’ he shook his head, ‘I would never leave Sango and Miroku to fend for themselves while I took off in my own search. This area is dangerous.’ And sure enough, it was. He was always hearing ghost stories about this part of the woods, but he never once believed them. He wouldn’t take the risk of leaving his friends and finding the truth though, no matter how badly he wanted to.

“Inuyasha,” Sango’s voice rang out to him. “Why don’t you try to relax, get some rest. The guilt will fade if you set your mind upon other things.” ‘How did she know?’ He decided not to answer her as he sat down, leaning against the tree he was standing next to only a few seconds ago.

“You know, Sango. I think that Inuyasha is feeling that this whole mess with Kagome leaving is his own fault for not caring more, and that he is starting to see.” Sango nodded, sometimes the monk had everything down pack. Yet sometimes, he was completely off. For the whole time they’d been talking and since they’d arrived, Mayuko had been in the same tree, and she looked upset.

Sango saw the worrisome glances the monk was giving the demoness, and decided to go to Inuyasha’s side instead of getting in the way of the other two and their obvious feelings.

She sat down next to Inuyasha, silently wondered what had him so upset and what had been worrying him so much. He knew it was what the monk said, but possibly even more. She was positive he was worried for Kagome’s safety, he always was, as was everyone else. But if she we hurt, he would ultimately blame himself for not being there to protect her as he had promised.

Sango leaned up against the side of the same tree Inuyasha sat under and closed her own eyes, letting the much needed sleep overtake her consciousness.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!

She knew that Kagura was coming. Although she was too far off to be caught by scent or aura, Mayuko had received mental word from her ‘sister’ to be prepared for her arrival. And there was nothing she could do to escape the inevitable appearance of the wind witch. ‘Nothing I can do to prevent Miroku’s hate when he find out.’ She sighed, for what seemed the hundredth time that day.

‘Miroku.’ It wasn’t as if she loved him. Hell, she wasn’t even close to loving him, was she? No, not yet. It was far too soon for her to e in love with the human monk. But she could never deny the attraction to him. And she did like him, she couldn’t deny that either, and she wasn’t even about to try that one.

She knew he was watching her, she could feel his eyes upon her as she laid back in the tree she was resting in. And she had no doubt that he would call her down any moment now, and she would go to him. She didn’t have to, but she wanted to. She needed to know what he thought of her. It wasn’t really important in general, she just wanted, no needed to know. And she’d be damned if she didn’t find out.

“Mayuko!” There it was, the monk’s call. “Come down here, lets talk. I can sense that something is wrong.” Why and how did he always know when there was a problem. It never mattered who, he just always seemed to know when someone was having a problem, and then he would make them openly admit it and talk about it as he attempted to ease their pain.

There was only one question she had for him at the moment. ‘How can he help to ease my pain, when he is the one who will be ultimately hurt the most?’ She lied to him, betrayed him, and for the first time in her whole life, she wished she could take something back.

!!!!!!!!!!

She quickly jumped out of the way. ‘Damn, that was too close for comfort!’ She mentally berated herself as Toshio charged towards her once again, only this time, she was more prepared for him. Seconds before he made contact with her, she sprung a barrier, and he clashed into it. Quickly, she pushed the barrier outward, and into him. The purification energy burned through his flesh as he tried to withstand her powers.

Her blast was purifying him! He quickly jumped away from her and watched as the barrier instantly vanished. He watched her close her eyes, obviously focusing. Oh well, it left an opening for him. He charged at her, growling when her eyes snapped open and her hands began to glow a soft blue.

She was so proud of herself. She had channeled her powers to her hands, no all she needed to do was release it. ‘Could I form it into other things?’ But she didn’t have a chance to test her question as he came at her. Her hands shot in front of her, and she focused on releasing her energy. He was so close, and then, he was flying away from her and slammed into a tree behind him.

Her energy had shot from her hand, a lot more powerful then she had expected it to bw, but she wasn’t complaining. Now was the time to answer her question. She raised her hands, palm facing up, and focused her energy to hover above her hands. She forced it into a ball with her mind and used her hands to direct them, one for each. As her hands raised, so did the balls of pure energy, when her hands lowered, then energy did the same.

She placed her palms outward, then pulled one hand back and pushed it forward quickly, hurling the energy to the youkai who was now regaining his composure. Toshio growled when he felt his skin scorched and narrowly dodged another energy sphere. He had to give her credit, for she was a strong human, but how much of him could she really handle? He decided to find out for himself.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sesshomaru watched from the sidelines utterly amazed, although his mask would never allow his feelings to be shone. He knew she could hold her own against Toshio, but fighting back, and throwing him into a tree went far beyond his expectations of her. He was glad he wouldn’t have to save her ass as he suspected he would, but she would get her share of pain, that was certain. Toshio would not die without a fight.

His thoughts were interrupted as he heard a woman’s scream. He saw Kagome fall on her butt, a thin line of blood trailing down the sleeve of her shirt. Toshio approached her carefully, standing above her and ready to deal the final blow. Sesshomaru mentally cursed at his stupidity for thinking Kagome strong and was about to go to her aide when he saw her smirk. He stopped, his brows furrowing as he tried to decipher what she was going to do.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!

She did it. Kagome was so happy with her accomplishments, she had to smirk. She had latched her senses onto his aura. Kaede told her that when a demon went to strike an opponent, their auras spike. This would be the ultimate test. If she didn’t detect his movements, she would be killed, and she was ready to take that risk.

She felt him coming closer and closer until he stood directly in front of her. She wasn’t sure what he was doing, but if he attacked, she was sure to sense it. Then it came, the spike in his aura signifying the oncoming attack. She quickly raised a glowing hand and heard him hiss. She grabbed onto his wrist before he could pull it away, quickly jumping to her feet. She squealed and ducked as his other hand came at her. She could feel her power burning away the skin on his wrist.

She used her other hand and made another small energy sphere in her palm, lifting up her hand, and forcing it into the youkai’s chest. She felt him stiffen as he yelped in her ear, trying in vain to push her away or to escape himself. Kagome let him fall to the ground as he stopped thrashing and went limp. She did not kill him, and she wouldn’t. She would never kill a living creature that didn’t deserve death, even if he had attempted to kill her.

Kagome noticed Sesshomaru walk out into the open from where he was previously standing. “Why is he not dead?” He asked, his tone dripping with malice. Kagome glared at him. What was his problem now? She’d done what he’d asked her to, and he was still being a complete ass.

“I won’t kill him, it’s against my morals.” Sesshomaru narrowed his eyes at her before unleashing his youkai whip and slashing it through Toshio’s neck. “That fool was a traitor, morals or not, he should not be allowed to live.” Kagome glared at the youkai lord. He really was an evil bastard. “Come. I will take you back to Inuyasha. I am sure he is worried for you by now.” Sesshomaru said icily as she climbed onto his back. No matter how much he protested, she would be carried as she was carried by Inuyasha, not in his arms.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Inuyasha’s nose twitched as he picked up a familiar scent. Standing up quickly, he growled, angry that Kagura had to disturb him while he was sleeping and couldn’t wait for a better timing. Kagura jumped from her feather, landing silently across from where the hanyou stood, glaring at her.

“Bad timing, I presume?” Kagura asked as her lips twitched upward in a smirk. She laughed lightly, then snapped her head in Mayuko’s direction. “Your departure has been delayed as it is. Let us leave.” Inuyasha noticed a ball of red fur underneath her arm, but thought nothing of it as he watched the witch. Kagura watched as Mayuko’s eyes widened and she hesitantly walked towards her. Mayuko stopped to turn to Miroku, who was watching her leave, astonishment shone clearly in his violet orbs.

“Wait a minute!” Inuyasha all but lost his control as he fumed at Mayuko. “You mean to tell me that you were never here to help us? That all of you’re your stories have been lies?” Mayuko nodded, but kept her eyes on Miroku. She walked towards him silently.

“So everything you have told me, all of what you had ‘felt’ was a lie?” Mayuko shook her head and stepped closer. He did not move away, but gazed at her through a mask of hurt and betrayal. “Then, what?” She walked closer still, until she was at less then arms length from him before answering.

Inuyasha was having a hard time keeping his temper in check. He wanted to bathe his claws in her blood that would permeate the air with its spicy scent. Oh yes, he could picture himself killing her. But the way Miroku looked at her, and her him, told him to wait. To see what the bitch had to say, even if it meant delaying her death.

Kagura sighed. She would not step in, she would let Mayuko have her moment. For after this, freedom would not come for some time, and although she wanted it for herself, Mayuko was like a sister to her at times, and seeing the young girl happy would always make her heart leap. Happiness. Freedom. Those were things that Kagura herself could not help but desire and dream of the one day she would possess theses two feelings.

“My feelings for you, Miroku, are just as I had told you before. As is my life story. The only thing I lied about was my master and the fact that I was going to kill Naraku. Other then that, what I had told you holds the truth.” She sealed her words to him with a chaste kiss as tears poured from her face. She gave him no time to respond to it as she jumped away from him, ordering Kagura to leave, and that she did. The feather had transformed and the two demoness were on their way.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Inuyasha was in a stupor. He hadn’t moved in….4 minutes. Neither had Miroku. There was no denying that he had fallen for her. Love was too strong, but he had taken a sincere liking to the girl for more then just her womanly attributes. But no that he’d found someone that had pushed away Sango, he couldn’t have her. And he would never allow himself to beg Sango to return to him. He’d hurt the demon slayer enough already. He didn’t need to make it worse on the both of them.

Inuyasha finally shook his head, growling deeply as he realized he forgot to make chase. But seeing Mayuko kiss that, that PERVERT was way too much to handle even if he did want to kill her. Inuyasha inhaled a breath of fresh air, his eyes widening as he caught a whiff of two familiar scents. “We have company.”

Miroku gave him the look as to ask him who when the demon lord himself entered the clearing, a raven head of hear snuggled into his tail. “Get. Your. Wench. Off. Of. My. Tail.” Sesshomaru said, trying to stay calm. But it was no use. “NOW!” He added. Inuyasha jumped over to him, removing the sleeping girl from his back. He needed her safe before he could start a fight with his brother, who knows what would happen if Kagome were used against him.

Before Inayasha could say anything to his elder sibling, Sesshomaru was gone. The hanyou growled, but he was glad Kagome was safe and at the moment, that was all that mattered. Then, he remembered the reason Kagome left them, and the red ball of fur Kagura held. ‘Shippo!’ But if Kagura had the kit, why wasn’t she giving Shippo back to them? He sighed, letting Miroku know to get some sleep for tomorrow, and silently wondered how Sango slept through this whole ordeal, she must have been really stressed about something.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!

“So you are in love with the monk?” Mayuko shook her head. She liked him, but she didn’t love him. Although she’d never been in love and didn’t know what it felt like, she highly doubted that she could be in such a short time period that she’d spent around him.

“I’m not in love. That is simply absurd. However, I do hold strong feelings for him, and it’s true that I have never felt this way before. But I have also never been given the chance. I’m not sure if this is just a small emotion that I think to be bigger due to never having felt it before in my whole life, or if it’s a spark of something that’ll continue to grow. Although I’m afraid because I’ll most likely never see him again, I hope for the latter.

“Kagura, why do you have the kitsune with you?” Kagura looked down to Shippo, who was still asleep due to the spell cast upon him. She was supposed to trade him for Kagome, but since Kagome was not near, she couldn’t exactly do that and had no choice but to bring him back with her and hope he wasn’t noticed while they were back at Inuyasha’s little camp.

“Kagura, have you ever been in love?” the wind witch scoffed and shook her head, laughing lightly as the shock of the question passed. “Don’t you think I would have told you, of all people? I mean come on now, how inconsiderate do you think I am? You know all of my secrets and you hold them protectively. Don’t you think I would have let you in?” Mayuko smiled and nodded her head in agreement.

Minutes later, they entered Narau’s barrier and approached the entrance to his fortress upon foot. Once they entered, the both walked towards his main room, where you could always find him. “Come in.” They heard as they stood outside of the shoji door he was on the other side of.

Mayuko ran to Naraku, bowing before him before hugging him lightly. Naraku stared down at her as she released him, not return the awkward emotion, but not throwing her aside. “you have fared well, Mayuko.” She smiled, but the smile faded at his next words. “You know the monk will die, do you not?” She chocked before nodding. “Good. In that case, do not dwell further into any feelings you have toward him.” She nodded again and excused herself. She needed to kill something.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!

“Kagura.” She stepped forward and bowed bitterly before her master. “You will return to the Inu-tachi and propose the trade, Kagome had returned minutes after you had left.” Kagura nodded and bit her tongue, doing so could possible save her life. She walked out of the room and back outside, transforming her feather and taking off toward the last place Inuyasha and his gang had been located, a small clearing in the wood of the eastern lands. No doubt the were heading towards Naraku’s fortress this very moment.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!

She’d never been angrier in her entire life. She’d had a taste of happiness with a human monk just to have her father figure/master remind her that his life would be over in due time. She couldn’t stand it. She was always calm, and she always had the perfect grip on her emotions, but now, now when she needed her control the most, it had slipped away, allowing her anger to reign free over unsuspecting youkai that would get in her way.

She looked overhead when she saw a shadow pass above her. ‘Kagura.’ She thought, and looked back to the forest in front of her. She heard a faint rustle to the left and snapped her gaze to it. A small bear youkai stepped out of the bushes, followed by its mother, this would prove exciting enough to take her mind away from things, or at least she hoped.

She drew her katal and threw it at the child before its mother could stand in front of the young cub. The poor thing was dead…oh well. The mother bear roared in outrage before charging at Mayuko. She smirked, she would have fun toying with the youkai before killing it, forcing another to endure her pain.

She flipped over the bear youkai to wear her dead cub lay, slain by the sword she now held in her very hands. The bear turned to her and quickly raced forward, growling when Mayuko dodged its every strike. But the bear didn’t give up, it wouldn’t. Mayuko watched in interest as the bear continued to paw at her while she lazily dodged each swipe. ‘This is getting boring.’ She thought. ‘Damn bear should know who is the superior.’ Mayuko smirked before attacking with a wave of fury.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!

“Damn it to hell!” Inuyasha yelled, getting up and standing over the forms of Sango and Kagome as best he could without giving one more protection then the other. He hears an unladylike groan and knew that Kagome had awaken. Stepping more in front of Sango, he let her get up just as Kagura made her way into the clearing. Kagome quickly woke up Sango and slightly wondered when she’d gotten back.

“I see you are back with your group, miko.” Tetsusaiga was instantly drawn from its sheath as he moved in front of the girls once again. “I was talking to her Inuyasha, how rude to interrupt.” Inuyasha growled, making the wind witch smirk as the monk rose, now awake as well.

“Kagura!” She eyes the monkcautiosuly, wondering what good features he had for Mayuko to take a liking to him, but she didn’t have much time to observe him as Kagome spoke up.

“I’m back now, Kagura. Now what did you want with me?” Kagome stepped aside from Inuyasha, and walked up next to him. Inuyasha raised his arm in front of her, and shot her a dirty look when it was pushed away. “I need to do it myself, Inuyasha.” Kagura looked at the two wearily before addressing the young miko.

“I have a deal to make with you.” Kagome nodded for her to go on. Kagura pulled Shippo from behind her back and smirked when Inuyasha growled and held Kagome from running to grasp the young boy. “I will make a trade with you, Kagome. I will give your precious Shippo to your group, and in return, you will come with me, to Naraku.” Everyone visibly tensed at this, what would Naraku want with Kagome? If it were the jewel shards, he would have asked for them, but he didn’t. He asked for Kagome.

“No way in fucking hell!” Inuyasha shouted at Kagura, but Kagome’s eyes held a different answer as she dropped her head in defeat. Inuyasha looked at her, his eyes widening at the meaning behind her defeated glance, surely she wouldn’t leave him, she wouldn’t leave her duties to them…..would she?

“Sit.” It was a barely audible whisper, but the necklace reacted, slamming the hanyou into the ground. “Kagome!” She heard her friends call as they ran to her. She placed a barrier around herself and Kagura so she could make it there before anyone else could restrain her. This was hard enough as it was, but she’d sworn to herself, that if this is what it came to, then she would do it. She would never break that promise.

Kagura quickly retransformed her feather with and gave Kagome her hand when she was comfortably upon it. The miko took her hand and allowed herself to be pulled into the feather boat, and taken to wherever it was Naraku’s fortress was located. “I’m sorry.” She whispered into the wind, she watched as Inuyasha sat up and shook his head before they were out of sight completely.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!

“Why does Naraku want me?” Kagome asked, not expecting an answer. “I’m not sure, but whatever it is, you can’t by any means allow him to get a hold of your shards, or any other. If Naraku is victorious in the end, who knows what could happen.” Kagome was silent. She had never heard Kagura speak so much at one time unless she was either taunting them or informing someone, but never of her own feelings.

She wasn’t shocked though, she’d never had a chance to get to know Kagura to the point where the wind witch would feel comfortable having a civil conversation before, not that she’d ever considered becoming friends with Kagura or anything. “He won’t. not if I can help it. I have my duties as a miko, and as a loyal comrade to Inuyasha, Sango, and Miroku. I will do everything in my power to make she he doesn’t attain any more shards. He already possesses half of the jewel. But if it’s not too much, why are you against your master?”

Kagura sighed, she expected Kagome to come to this question, it was unavoidable with what she had told the girl. Well, there was no reason to hide the reason behind what she’d said, even if she didn’t trust the girl. There was no one she would tell her longings to anyways. Her friends were away from her and Kagura doubted that she would talk with Naraku about anything civil.

“Well,” She started, unsure of how to voice her thoughts. “I don’t want to be under Naraku’s control. He holds my heart and can easily kill me, or torture me with it. He chose the latter. Whenever I disobey him, a red ball appears in his hand, that is my heart. He uses it against me and squeezes it until I submit to his terms. I don’t want that. I am the wind, Kagome. I want to be free.”

For one, Kagome had never expected to have a conversation with Kagura, but she seemed friendly enough, especially confiding in her the last bit of information she had just relayed to her. But she really did feel bad for Kagura, and knew she didn’t deserve this, but there was nothing she could do about it, ‘except free her heart.’ And free her heart she would, once she figured out how to that is.

“At least you weren’t raised as a daughter to the man who slaughtered your family.” Kagura looked at her as if she were completely off topic, not having the slightest idea of what Kagome was talking about, or perhaps she was raised this way. Who knew? Kagome saw the look of confusion settle over Kagura’s features before wondering if Kagura even knew about the situation that Mayuko had.

“Mayuko. Naraku slaughtered her family and took her. I guess she had some powers or something that Naraku thought he could form into a weapon for war. Something like that. All I know, is that the man Mayuko trusted as a father had betrayed her many years ago, when Naraku killed everyone with the same blood as she had.”

Kagura’s eyes widened as a feeling of unease settled in her gut. Was what Kagome said really true? How could she trust a person she hadn’t talked to for over 15 minutes, a person that was against her master, a person that was her enemy? But she would have sensed it if Kagome had lied to her, that much was true. So, maybe it was true, she would have to tell Mayuko. But would she even listen? Or would she think that Kagura was trying to turn her against Naraku in hopes that she would fight him, and win, freeing herself from Naraku’s grasp?

She decided she’d have to look into it, even get some more evidence that this was true before going to Mayuko. The girl would never forgive her if this information was a lie, and Kagura would never forgive herself for feeding her a lie. Either way, if she didn’t have some evidence, she couldn’t tell Mayuko.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!

“Nothing changes.” Inuyasha yelled at the group and the still slumbering kit. “We continue until we find Naraku’s fortress and everyone there. We will continue, until we find Kagome. Ya here me?” the group nodded. The only one he’d gone slightly easy on was Sango, who had comforted him the moment Kagome was gone.

Miroku walked in the back, Sango was close behing Inuyasha, where Kagome would normally stand, but he’d figured something sparked when Kagome was gone and he spent more time with Mayuko. He just couldn’t get her out of his mind. No matter how hard he’d tried, she always resurfaced in his thoughts. He just couldn’t forget her face, the sound of her voice, the way she felt in his arms, and most of all, he couldn’t forget the warmth of her lips pressed to his.

He knew that she was his enemy, and that she could never be with him. But to tell him that she returned his feelings, and to kiss him in front of Kagura, sure was something. No matter what, friend or foe, the feelings he had for her would not diminish. Even now, after she was gone, he didn’t want Sango’s forgiveness. Maybe that was a bit harsh, but he wouldn’t apologize for feeling things for another woman, especially when Sango never returned the now faded emotions he used to have for her. Why else wouldn’t he get in the way of her and Inuyasha. He’d just better treat her better then he treated Kagome, that was for sure.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Naraku noticed as the barrier was entered into. He felt her presence and walked out side, ready to great his guest. He chuckled darkly at the thought. She would obey him, or she would face the consequences. Thos consequences would not be so subtle either. He vaguely wondered how long it took for the miko to give into his previous demands, her life for her kit’s. Knowing her pure soul, not very long. But it wouldn’t take long for her pureness to become tainted. Just as Kikyo’s had.

He saw Kagome’s scowl once the feather had been untransformed. He almost chuckled at how she looked, standing there, in skintight clothing from her own era and a yellow bag in her hand. He couldn’t wait to tell her that he knew of her time. The shock that would register on her face would be priceless, he could only imagine.

“Hello, my dear miko.” Naraku mock bowed. Kagome clenched her fists at her side and challengingly met his gaze. Crimson clashed with sapphire as Naraku chuckled at her. Kagome almost screamed in outrage when his eyes left hers to travel down her body. She felt so naked under his gaze. It sickened her, but she would never give him the pleasure of knowing how greatly he’d disturbed her. The only reason he’d known was because of the way her eyes darkened.

He almost chuckled at how easy it was to get under her skin. Naraku had no idea of how he was to tarnish a soul as pure as her own, but he would find a way. No matter what, he soul would be tainted with greed, hate, anger, and much, much more. Naraku would greatly enjoy the time she spent here, which would most likely be the rest of her pathetic human life.

Inuyasha would no doubt try to save her, but he would not allow it. She would help to protect his fortress. With her powers combined with his, he was an unstoppable force, and none in their right mind would challenge him. The only thing he had to do, was to strip he power from her and add it to himself. Then, he would truly be the most formidable youkai in all Japan. But that would take a lot of time and careful planning. All he needed to worry about at the moment, was the destruction of Inuyasha and Kagome, he decided, would help to rid the earth of the hanyou’s foul presence.

Kagome watched as Naraku became absorbed in his thoughts. She could only hope they weren’t thoughts of her future, but all hopes were gone as his gaze intensified on her and he cracked a smirk. She involuntarily shivered and watched as he turned his back motioning for her to follow him. At the moment, she wanted nothing more then to disappear, whether the cause be death, or Inuyasha rescuing her, she really didn’t care, anything to get her away from Naraku.

Once again, I’m sorry this chapter took so long. And I hope it’s alright. I tried not to make the characters OOC, but I wanted to give Kagura a little more of a personality then she had before. I just hope I didn’t go overboard with that.

In the next chapter, I’m planning on bringing a little more light to Makoto and her purpose. I’ve had one person tell me that I was overpowering the cannon characters with the OCs, and well, they do seem powerful, and they are, BUT, they will not overpower the cannons. Most likely, the humans, (except Kagome) and of course Shippo, Kirara, Kagura, ect, you get my drift. Just not the main characters, being Inuyasha, Sesshomaru, Naraku, and Kagome. They do have a role in the story though, although I haven’t fully decided on exactly what these roles will be, I have plenty of ideas. But no matter, the cannon characters will not be overpowered.
