Disclaimer – I do not own Inuyasha. Since no one has reviewed about who they want I have decided between two of the matches: Inuyasha/Kagome/Sesshoumaru or Kouga/Kagome/Sesshoumaru? What do you think????? I’m leaning towards Inu/Kag/Sess.

>In the shadows<

A lone figure stood and watched as the rag tag group greeted their old friend. He had kept watch over the young miko since he first layed eyes on her when he first confronted his half brother while he stood on the Oni’s shoulder. Sesshoumaru could remember how she stood up to him with out any fear. She had been a mystery that he wanted to solve even then.

It upset him when he found her lying on the ground that fateful night. He had been patrolling his lands when he smelled the stench of graveyard soil and death. Following the scent he came upon the undead miko taking the soul from the young miko that had traveled with his brother. Sesshoumaru recognized the undead miko as Kikyo the one who placed the seal on Inuyasha over 50 years earlier.

Once the undead miko left the clearing Sesshoumaru made his way over to the living miko and gently picked her up and sped towards the bone eaters well. He could tell that her heart was beating but only lightly. If he could get her to the well she could get help on the other side. Sesshoumaru did not know where it lead but he had seen the miko along with his half brother travel back and forth through it. When he arrived he had jumped down. It surprised him when it let him travel.

Once he was on the other side he placed the miko on the ground of the well and the magic of the well transported him back instantly. Sesshoumaru did not understand why he was allowed through that one time because he had tried after that and to no avail he was no longer able to travel.

His attention was brought back to the present when he heard what his brother told the miko. Sesshoumaru could tell that it surprised her that Inuyasha would kill Kikyo for her. Hell, it surprised him that his own brother would do something to that extreme. His blood started to boil in rage when the half breed kissed the miko. Knowing that if he did not leave he would make himself known.

Sesshoumaru turned on his heel and walked away from the small onna that wormed her way into his cold heart. Granted he was well known for not liking humans but he had made a couple of exceptions over the years. The taijiya and monk along with the miko were three. Rin was another one that had started to thaw his cold heart.

For the first moment he saw Rin he felt a pull in his heart connected to her. He had denied it in the beginning however when he found her dead and Tetseiga pulsed to life, he changed his mind to let the young child follow him. Rin had surprised him on many occasions when they passed human villages. She had told him that she did not feel safe unless he was around.

>Kagome, Inuyasha, Miroku, Sango, Shippou & Kirara<

Inuyasha pulled back from Kagome and noticed that she was still completely stunned. Her eyes were wide in both shock and surprise. Kagome blinked a couple of times then looked up into his eyes. She licked her lips to moisten them.

“Inuyasha...... I.......” Kagome shook her head unable to think of the words to say.

Inuyasha smiled at her softly. “I know you need to think about what I said and what happened.” His ears flattened to his head as he took her hands. “You have to believe me Kagome. Kikyo told us that she found you fighting a demon and tried to help but only was able to kill the demon but not before it hurt you. She also told us that she tried to tend to your wounds but they were to great.” Inuyasha dropped his head.

“I should have known that she was lying to begin with but I believed her. If I had of went after your scent to see for myself I would have been able to see that she was lying.” He shook his head and looked up at her with tears in his eyes. He pulled her to him and held onto her tight. “I felt loss with out you Kagome.”

With that Inuyasha pulled back and kissed her on the cheek. He stepped back and let the others have their turns welcoming Kagome back. Kagome on the other hand was rather surprised by what happened. Then she remembered what Totosai had told her the last time she had seen him. Chuckling she opened her arms and Sango ran into them crying.

“Oh Kagome I am so sorry.” Sango held onto the only sister she felt she had left. Kagome patted Sango’s back.

“I’m ok.” Kagome pulled back from Sango and looked around at the other three. “After Kikyo took my soul I fainted but when I woke up I was in my time only I was at the bottom of the well. I don’t know how I made it there but for some reason I was sent back.” She finished with a shrug.

“Lady Kagome do you realize that you have changed in both spiritual powers and appearances?” Miroku asked as he stepped up beside Sango.

Kagome grinned and nodded. “Yes I have. Like I said before I am no ordinary miko. I was never Kikyo’s reincarnation. Yes I was given Kikyo’s soul but only until she was revived. I was made by the Kamis themselves to protect the Jewel of Four Souls. Her soul was intertwined with mine.” Kagome looked at Shippou and her eyes widen.

He was no longer the little kit that she had first rescued from the evil thunder brothers. He was about the same height as Inuyasha’s shoulders. His red hair was done up in a high pony tail while his tail was wrapped around his waist as a fussy belt. Kagome felt a tear fall from her eyes as she look her ‘son’ over.

“My you have grown, my Shippou.” Kagome held her hands out. Shippou smiled as he ran into the only mother he found after his was killed.

“MOMMA!” He cried as her was finally wrapped in his mothers arms after two long years. “I missed you so much. We thought we had lost you for good.”

Kagome pulled back from him and smirked. “I will not leave your side again until its time to make the wish. We still don’t know if I will be sent back.” She answered with a heavy heart. Shippou sighed but nodded. They all understood that she was not meant to be in their Era.

“Come on. Kaeda was worried about you.” Shippou looked at the others. “What are you waiting for?” He looked down at Kirara.

Kirara mewed and transformed then looked over at Sango and Miroku. They both nodded as they climbed up on her back. Shippou jumped up while Inuyasha walked in front of Kagome and bent down that way she could climb on to his back.

Kagome shook her head and held her hand out. “I have a new trick I wanna try. You will be riding with me.” Kagome smirked as she closed her eyes.

She could feel her powers working when Inuyasha wrapped his arms around her waist from the back. She didn’t know when he moved behind her but she found that she liked it. When Kagome opened her eyes she looked to the left and saw Kirara with Sango, Miroku and Shippou. Kagome waved at them as she sped up. With that they flew towards Edo and Kaeda.

It took them not as nearly as long to arrive at Kaeda’s hut. Kaeda was standing outside when Kagome landed with Inuyasha behind her. Kirara landed a little further away because of her size. Once Sango, Miroku and Kirara were walking towards them Kaeda motioned for everyone to take a seat inside her hut.

Inuyasha took up his spot by the door while Sango and Miroku sat towards the back wall. Kirara was in Sango’s lap as usual. Kagome sat on the other side of the door and Shippou took the seat next to her left. Kaeda sat down and began tea for everyone.

“Ye have finally returned.” Kaeda smiled as she placed the tea pot Kagome had brought for her. “Did ye find what ye were missing?” Kaeda looked knowingly at the young girl.

Kagome nodded. “Yes, I have finally realized that I am not the reincarnation of Kikyo.” She glanced over at Inuyasha. “In fact I am a pure soul created by the Kami’s to protect the jewel since Kikyo did not protect it like she was suppose to.”

Kaeda nodded. “That is what I suspected when ye first arrived yet ye looked like my sister. I did not truly know til I saw ye land just now.” Kaeda took the tea pot off the fire and began to fill the cups.

Kagome moved over to help Kaeda. “Well there is a reason that I look like Kikyo.” She let the thought hang in the air as she helped Kaeda hand out the tea. Once everyone had their tea Kaeda and Kagome sat back in their spots.

Inuyasha growled and looked from Kaeda to Kagome. “Are you going to tell us or do we have to guess?” He crossed his arms over his chest. Kagome rolled her eyes as she took a sip of her tea.

“Of course I am going to tell you you baka.” Kagome set down her cup. “I was made to look like Kikyo because if I didn’t Inuyasha would of killed me when I released him from the spell she placed on him.” She grinned at Inuyasha who kept moving his mouth like a fish needing water.

“Does that mean that Inuyasha tried to kill you Lady Kagome?” Miroku asked as he looked from Kagome to Inuyasha.

Inuyasha snorted. “No.”

“Sit.” Kagome said quietly as not to hurt him too much. “Of course you did. Everyone of you either tried to kill me or steal me except Kaeda. The villagers were the ones trying to kill me then.” Kagome snickered as she noticed a blush on Miroku’s cheeks. However Sango also noticed it.

“You tried to steal her.” Sango looked over at Miroku.

“Of course not Lady Sango...”

“No he actually did kidnap me.” Kagome supplied. Miroku sent a mock glare towards her. Kagome just stuck her tongue out at him.

“You mean he was able to get you from Inuyasha?” Sango asked in disbelief.

Kagome chuckled while Inuyasha growled. “Yeah but Inuyasha did get me back.” She looked over at him and blushed slightly.

“Keh.” Inuyasha scoffed as he peeled himself off the floor. “Damn monk wasn’t that hard to track.”

“I have to disagree with...”

“Oh shut up houshi.” Inuyasha snapped playfully as he took his seat. “We found you in a geisha house surrounded by women until Kagome and I showed up. Then you practically threw yourself at her.” He smirked when Miroku glared at him.

“Really?” Sango rose an eye brow as she glanced from Miroku to Inuyasha.

Miroku sighed and dropped his head. “No one seems to believe me.” He spoke to no one in particular.

“That’s because we know you Miroku.” Kagome smiled as she watched Miroku get knocked out by Sango's boomerang.

“HENTAI.” Sango seethed. “I guess you will never learn Houshi.” Sango got up and walked out of the hut.

Kagome just smiled as she watched her friends play around. She could see the grin on Sangos’ face as she left the hut. Miroku also had a big grin as he went after her. Shaking her head she looked over at Kaeda. The old miko had changed but only physically.

“Other than receiving your true soul what have ye been doing?” Kaeda took a sip of her tea.

“I went to Totosai and asked him to make me a sword.” Kagome reached to her side and pulled the sword from its sheath.

Before Kagome was able to hand it to Kaeda Inuyasha was up and had the sword in his hands until he realized that it was burning his palm. He quickly dropped the sword and started to fan his hand. He sent a glare at Kagome.

“What the hell is wrong with your sword?” He hissed as he moved back to his seat.

Kagome couldn’t help but laugh. “Nothing at all.” She took a breath to calm herself. “I asked Totosai to place a barrier around it to keep people that might want to take it unable to handle it. Kinda like Tetsaiga.”

Kagome picked the sword back up and handed it to Kaeda. The old miko was able to handle the sword with ease. Inuyasha just sat there and glared between the two of them.

“This is a fine miko sword Kagome.” Kaeda looked over the blade and hilt. “I see that ye had a dragon holding the Shikon. Do ye have a reason for this?” Kaeda handed the sword back to Kagome.

Kagome nodded. “While most people in this time and mine believe dragons tend to bring evil I believe that this dragon is good luck. The Totosai in my time has been over to the main land. It was his decision to place the Shikon with in the dragons’ mouth.” Kagome explained.

Both Kaeda and Inuyasha nodded. “Why wasn’t I able to hold it and that old bag could?” Inuyasha pouted like a child.

Kagome sighed and shook her head. “For one thing I HANDED Kaeda my sword and another reason is because of the fact that it is a MIKO sword.” She had really hoped that Inuyasha would of grown up by now even if only a little bit.

Kagome stood and stretched. “I think that I might go take a bath before bed time.” She turned to Inuyasha. “Is that alright with you?”

Inuyasha looked surprised when Kagome asked if she could go. “Um.... sure. We can head out early in the morning.” He crossed his arms in his sleeves as he watched Kagome gather her supplies.

Kagome dropped a kiss on Inuyasha’s head then headed out the door. She smiled when she stepped outside and noticed that Sango and Miroku were sitting underneath a tree speaking to each other. Shaking her head she turned and headed towards the hot spring that was not to far from the village.

She prayed that she would not run into any one along the way. While she was able to defend herself she did not wish to fight anyone. Sighing Kagome continued on her way unaware of a pair of golden eyes following her every movement.
