Kagome spent the remainder of her summer helping cleaning the house. She would call her friends for the latest scoop at the beach and they would call her to see how she was doing.

 

It was the day before school and she decided to go school supply shopping. She went to the local drug store that carried the necessities.

 

Kagome walked inside she went straight towards the aisle that carried the requirements. She walked up the aisle and started picking out the things she needed: notebooks, loose-leaf paper, pens, pencils, erasers, whiteouts, highlighters, and dividers. She went to another aisle to pick up new plastic gloves so she can Sango could pick out the spitballs.

 

She went to the checkout and she saw a handsome boy working the cash register. On the tag that he was wearing on the front of his shirt read: Hello, my name is Hojo, how may I help you?

 

“Did you find everything you needed?” he asked. Kagome nodded.

 

He flashed the brightest smile Kagome had ever seen. Then he asked, “What school are you going to?”

 

“Oh, um, I will be a senior this year at Teeburu High School,” she replied. Why is she getting all sheepish around him like InuYasha? Could it be that she has a crush on a complete stranger?

 

“Really? I am going to be a student there this year. I am going to be a senior too. Maybe we will be classmates? My name is Hojo,” he said as he started to check out her supplies.

 

`Maybe not strangers anymore,' she thought. Then she said, “My name is Kagome and I knew your name already by your nametag.” She pointed it out to him and he blushed.

 

Hojo finished checking her things out and he said, “Well, I guess I'll see you tomorrow.”

 

“Yeah, where were you from?” she asked.

 

“I am from Kyoto. Tokyo is an amazing place.”

 

Kagome smiled and waved good-bye. She started walking back to her home with a smile still on her face. Why?

 

She arrived home and went to the closet that was by the front door. She took out her yellow book bag that witnessed everything since the sixth grade. She loved it too much to replace it.

 

Kagome took the bag and her bags with her school supplies, and went to her room. She placed her backpack on the floor and dumped the stuff from the bags. She started to place everything in the backpack so she could be prepared for the new school year, another dreadful year of torture.

 

`I hope it'll pass quickly,' she thought.

 

She went down the stairs to make herself lunch. Her mom was already in the kitchen prepping that night's dinner.

 

“Are you ready for your senior year honey?” asked Ms. Higurashi.

 

Kagome took out bread, turkey, and mayonnaise from the fridge and placed them on the counter. “Yeah, I guess. I would rather not go, but, yeah.”

 

Her mom gave her a small grin and went back to cooking while her daughter made herself lunch.

It was dinnertime and the Higurashis' sat around the dinner table. Everyone was talking except for Kagome. Her mind was on two boys, InuYasha and Hojo.

 

InuYasha and Hojo are nice. But InuYasha can be rude, a jackass, and an asshole due to the evidence shown at the beach. Hojo seems to be the sweetest guy you could ever meet due to the evidence at the drug store.

 

`I hope he isn't like the others,' she thought as she took a bite out of her country steak.

 

“Is everything all right granddaughter?” asked Grandpa.

 

“Huh? Oh, everything is all right. I was just daydreaming,” she replied.

It was nighttime and everything at the Higurashi residence was quiet since everyone went to sleep except for one girl.

 

Kagome was lying on her side, staring at the window. She was anxious for tomorrow. Sango called her an hour ago and told her that she would meet her at her locker. She also told her that she and Miroku are officially together. Kagome was happy for her, but Kagome felt a little jealous. Kagome wished she had a boyfriend.

 

She shifted positions and now she was lying on her back. She closed her eyes, hoping that sleep would catch her and drown her in a dream that she is like other girls. It finally did, but she had no dream.
