Japanese IV. Kagome wasn't paying any attention. Her mind was elsewhere. It was replaying the incident not too long ago that she was yelling at InuYasha, the most popular guy of the school and the guy she has her heart for, still.

 

She stared at the window and watched the birds fly from tree limb to tree limb, their blue feathers glistening in the sunlight. Kagome wished she could be out there, be a bird that can fly to places and not to worry about anything. Yeah, she wished she could be a bird.

 

The bell rang and she went to her English III class. Her teacher just gave out worksheets and told them to look them up in the book since she had a migraine.

 

“Then why are you here? Why not just stay home?” asked one of the students.

 

“Why? I didn't want to miss any days and not see you guys. Anyways, if you have a question, just come to me and I'll help you out,” said Miss Leigh softly.

 

Kagome breezed right through it in an hour. For the rest of the thirty minutes, she helped her fellow peers when they were having major difficulty trying to understand the English words.

 

Geometry. Kagome sat in the seat she sat before and Hojo sat right next to her.

 

“Wasn't that homework easy?” he asked.

 

“Sure, whatever you think,” Kagome replied. In fact, she had a very difficult time. Then it wasn't difficult, it was more between difficult and easy.

 

The teacher came in and class began. The teacher started a new section in the same chapter. They were learning algebra in geometry.

 

`The fuck? I don't want to learn this shit. What are you trying to do teacher, confuse the hell outta me?' Kagome thought, with a slight hint of panic.

 

Kagome's eyes were getting dazed with shades of confusion. Then the teacher gave homework and it was thirty-three problems. Kagome almost started to cry right then and there.

 

The bell rang and she went to lunch. She trudged on to her usual table and waited for Sango to come out and join her. She rested her head on her hand on the table and closed her eyes. Big mistake. The people surrounding her whacked her with paper balls.

 

`Wow, that's been a while,' she thought, not opening her eyes. All of a sudden she heard.

 

“What the hell are you doing you fuckers?” shouted a voice. It was Sango. Kagome opened her eyes and saw Sango flipping the whole courtyard off. Kagome was struggling not to laugh out loud.

 

“I swear Kagome, you have to defend yourself someday. I won't be around you all the time,” scolded Sango as she sat down across from Kagome.

 

Kagome shrugged. “It's not like I am asking you to.”

 

Her friend gave her a hard glare. “I am doing it cause I am your friend and friends always defend friends.”

 

Kagome didn't say anything and started to eat her food.

 

“I saw InuYasha today in my class and he looked so gloomy, I wonder why,” said Sango.

 

Kagome took a large mouthful of her lunch and just nodded her head. Sango looked at Kagome suspiciously and just continued eating her food.

 

“Miroku and I are going to the movies tonight. I can't wait,” chirped Sango and her friend smiled for her.

 

The bell rang and Kagome went to gym. She entered the locker room and made a beeline to the bathroom stalls. She locked the door and hurriedly put on her gym clothes. She opened the door and placed her clothes on top of her backpack.

 

Kagome entered the gymnasium and sat by the wall, waiting for class to begin. She saw Kagura and Kikyo emerge from the girl's locker room and went to the other side of the gym, waiting for Naraku and Onigumo to come out. Kagome could see them looking at her and whispering to each other. No doubt about her.

 

Koga came out and sat next to Kagome.

 

“I am so glad that we have gym class together,” said Kagome.

 

“Why?” asked Koga.

 

“Cause you are the only friend I have in here,” replied Kagome.

 

The tardy bell rang and they had an extra five minutes to wait. During the wait, the two talked about their classes.

 

The gym teacher blew his whistle and class started. They stretched for twenty minutes then went outside. Except for Koga, he had to go to the office since he was told he received a phone call from his mother.

 

The teacher wanted them to walk or jog around the track for thirty minutes.

 

Kagome walked, enjoying the somewhat silence of the outdoors.

All of a sudden, someone shoved her, which nearly made her fall on top of her face. She turned around and saw Kikyo, Onigumo, Kikyo, and Naraku smirking and having this sinister look in their eyes.

 

“What's wrong fatty?” taunted Kikyo.

 

`Just ignore them, don't stoop to their level,' Kagome kept telling herself. She turned around and walked on. She was given another push. This time, she did fall. Her head hit the concrete track with a hard impact. She blacked out (the gym teacher was all the way in front of her, it was a big track).

The last bell of she school day rang and InuYasha walked out. He was walking to his car when he saw Sango crying against Miroku by his car.

 

“What's wrong?” he asked as he went up to them.

 

“It's Kagome, she's in the hospital. She hit her head on the concrete track and lost some blood. She's in a coma right now, I received the call from her mother on my cell phone,” Sango sobbed.
