Ring-ring…ring-ring…ring-

 

“Mph, hello?” InuYasha muffled into the phone early the next morning.

 

“Is this InuYasha?” asked a voice.

 

“Yeah.”

 

“This is United Tokyo Hospital, can you please come here as soon as you can?” the voice asked.

 

“Yeah!” InuYasha answered quickly. He hung up the phone and jumped out of bed as fast as a bullet.

 

He put on black pants with a red undershirt and put on white sneakers. He grabbed the stuffed animal, car keys, and raced down the steps and out the door. He went inside his car and wasted no time starting the car and going to the hospital.

 

Many things were going on is mind as he was driving to the hospital. Is she OK or is she not doing OK? He didn't bother hearing what the person had to say. Once the person said that if he could go there, he didn't want to waste any time.

 

InuYasha arrived in the hospital parking lot, and when he parked it, he ran out of the car and ran into the building. He knew where she was, so he didn't have to worry about asking where her room was.

 

In the elevator, he was rocking his body from side to side, anxiety filling him whole.

 

`When will the damn thing open?' he growled in his mind.

 

His wish was granted when the door opened. He wasted no time getting out. He walked in a fast pace to her room. He walked into Kagome's room and saw a person in a white lab coat.

 

She turned around and it was a woman with long gray hair and it was pulled back. Over her left eye was a patch and a nametag was pinned on the left side of her lab coat, “Kaede.”

 

“We couldn't reach Ms. Higurashi, so we called you,” said Dr. Kaede.

 

“Uh, ok,” answered InuYasha, “What happened? Is she all right?”

 

Kaede looked at Kagome and then at InuYasha. “We are not quite sure to tell the truth-”

 

“Then why the hell did you call?” shouted InuYasha.

 

“If you didn't cut in, I would have told you,” snapped Dr. Kaede, “Anyways, Kagome is in critical condition. There are at times when we think she is pulling through beautifully. When all seems well, she goes back down. We have no idea what's going on. It seems that she's battling very hard inside.”

 

“And you called me for this, why?” asked InuYasha.

 

Kaede smiled. “I have been monitoring you whenever I have a break. She seems to do well when you are around. When you are gone, she declines her…not being well. In my opinion, you are her strength, her will to survive. Somehow, in some way, you reach to her.”

 

At that comment, InuYasha blushed.

 

“When I see this happening, I call it a miracle, or love miracle. Is there a special bond between the two of you?” asked Kaede.

 

“I am not sure about that yet,” InuYasha mumbled under his breath.

 

A beeper was heard and Kaede went to it. “Oh, I have to see a patient. Good day InuYasha.” She left.

 

InuYasha was alone in the room with a girl with a battle. He sighed and rubbed a hand over his face. He clutched the stuffed animal in his other hand. He walked to the right side of her bed and sat down in the chair.

 

InuYasha sighed again. He tucked the toy next to Kagome and closed his eyes. When would this end?

Kagome was shivering in a dark, cold place. All she could hear in her head were voices, voices that were calling her names.

 

She cuddled into a small ball, and shut her ears with her hands. “Stop, stop the voices, please.”

 

Then, she heard a voice. “Kagome, come back, you must wake up.”

 

`That voice, it sounds so familiar, whom does it belong to?' she asked herself.

 

She was shaking when she uncurled herself and stood up, still shaking. She was following the voice that was telling her to wake up.

Later in the day, it was mid-afternoon. InuYasha heard a knock on the door. It opened slowly and it revealed a boy with light brown hair.

 

“Oh, hello,” he said.

 

“You are?” asked InuYasha.

 

“Sorry for my rudeness, my name is Hojo. I am on Kagome's bus and Geometry class. I went out of school early so I can see how she is doing. Well, how is she?” asked Hojo.

 

Hojo came in from the doorway, holding a huge bouquet of wild flowers that were sending off a sweet scent. He went to a table that already held a vase of flowers from Miroku and Sango.

 

With Hojo's back turned away from him, InuYasha was burning holes though him.

 

“She's doing fine,” he said nicely.

 

“That's great. I also came bearing a message from the school. They are going to let Kagome graduate since she had very good grades from her classes since she entered the high school, isn't that swell?” said Hojo.

 

InuYasha brought on a genuine smile. He was pleased. Now Kagome doesn't have to worry about school whenever she wakes up, if she wakes up.

 

Hojo looked at his watch. “Oh no, I am going to be late for work. Well, it was nice meeting you.” Hojo bowed and left.

 

`What an ass,' InuYasha thought and turned his attention to Kagome.
