A/N: Just to remind you, this is also an Alternate Universe story and there is some OCC-ness.
It was another nine months of Kagome being in a coma. InuYasha waited for her by her side every other day. He still had school to do and he had to graduate. He didn't want to repeat the senior year.
While he was at school, he confronted Kikyo if she did actually shoved Kagome and got her into a coma. She denied it, but he saw some cold expression in her eyes. He knew that she was lying; he was her boyfriend before.
Once a month Rin, Souten, and Ayami would visit Kagome. They would always bring a shell from the beach, even when it was snowing.
Even Sesshomaru would visit Kagome when he was attending the college he went to look at. He would always bring a lily since it had a soft scent. He claimed that one of his professors said that it is some type of aromatherapy. Sesshomaru also said that hopefully it would help her wake up.
Sango, Miroku, Shippo, and Kouga would come to visit Kagome once a week. They would just sit there, waiting, like InuYasha.
Hojo however, came three times a week. He would change the water in the vases and fluff the pillows. Whenever InuYasha was there, he would just glare at him, waiting for him to leave so he would be alone with Kagome.
“You know, you don't have to do that,” InuYasha would say.
But Hojo would always reply, “I don't mind doing it, I want to do it.”
InuYasha would just leave it like that.
He would pay the bill secretively. He put up a secret account for the Higurashi family. InuYasha told the nurses that whenever she paid the bill, they were to put it in that account. So far, his plan was going smoothly.
Every other week, Grandpa would go to see his granddaughter along with Souta. The first time he saw his big sister hooked up to machines made him cry.
“Sister! Sister! Wake up, please! Don't die like daddy, please!” he begged. With that statement, InuYasha's heart broke.
Once a month, Ms. Higurashi would visit her daughter. According to InuYasha, she looked tired and exhausted. He knew that she tries to visit her more, but her job was holding her down.
InuYasha could hear her sing a soft lullaby to her daughter and would rub her hand on her daughter's forehead. It touched him deeply.
“Thank you so much InuYasha for what you are doing. I never met such a devoted person as you,” she said every time before she left.

It was the last day of school and when it let out, InuYasha went straight to the hospital.
When he entered her room, he sat by her side and held her hand. “Hey Kagome, we just finished the school year. Tomorrow is graduation, everyone was hoping you will be there, but obviously you can't in this condition.”
He lifted her hand and brought it to his lips. He kissed it and let her hand down gently.
“What's going on in that head of yours Kagome?”

Throughout the nine months, Kagome was walking on nothing but paths in the dark. Not once has she seen the light to help her see through it.
“When will this end?” she moaned as she was dragging her feet among the rocks.
Everyday she would hear voices that sounded familiar with. Some were feminine, old, masculine, and young. They always carried the same messages, “Wake up,” “You can pull though this,” and “Don't give up.”
All of them encouraged her and it made her stronger.
`There are voices waiting for me. I can't let them wait any longer,' she thought.
Kagome passed a mirror and she said, “I thought I passed them all already?”
When she peered though it, it showed a scene that she was not familiar with. It was the day she was born. She saw her father carrying her around the hospital and cooing her. His smile was warm and friendly.
“Ah Kagome, you are going to grow up to be a beautiful woman. I can't wait to see you grow up and be a successful and knowledgeable person,” he said to her. Kagome started to sniff.
“I can imagine that far from now, I will walk you down the aisle and give you away to a man that loves you more than life itself…I hope. If he doesn't, I will beat the pulp out of him. Anyways, I can see that you will have children, which will make me a grandpa. I can see that your face will be smiling at a family that you created. Ah Kagome, you are so dear to me, I am afraid to let you go, even now,” he said to her. Then the scene faded.
“Daddy,” Kagome said weakly. She laid a hand on the mirror and her eyes were started to haze over with unshed tears. She looked away and started to walk, hopefully, to the door of hope.
