InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Love Yourself for Thyself ❯ Chapter 23

It was graduation day. They sky was blue and not a cloud in the sky. All of the students were at the track, sitting in chairs. Friends and family were sitting at the bleachers. Everyone was quiet. They were reserving silence for the girl that couldn't be there. Kagome.

 

When that was done, Sango stood up and walked to the podium. Everyone's attention was directed to her. InuYasha's attention was sort of on her. His mind was on Kagome.

 

Sango's speech began:

 

“Family, friends, students, faculty, staff, and guests. My dear friend, Kagome Higurashi, is not present at the graduation ceremony. She is in the hospital, in a coma because someone assaulted her during class nine months ago. Yes, she is still unconscious.

 

Kagome was a girl that was very sweet and generous, although, everyone saw through that. All everyone saw was her physical appearance. They did not care whom she really was deep inside. All they did was pull pranks on her and make fun of her. I know that one person pushed it too far and I will find out who it is and make the truth come out of him or her!

 

Ahem, hopefully, one day, everyone will see pass the physical side of people and get to know the inside. Hopefully, one day, some people will ignore the media of what a perfect body is. Hopefully, my friend will wake up and ease our hearts and see her smiling face again. I know her other friends want the same. Including one person in particular.

 

I hope she will wake up soon and see how many people truly love her and how much she is cared about. I hope she will realize how she is special in our hearts and how much courage she had to walk into school everyday and take all the bullying that was put in her path. I hope that when she wakes up, realizing there is a person waiting for her almost everyday, by her side, wanting to say how much that person loves her. I hope when Kagome is awake, the future will be brighter for her.”

 

Everyone started clapping his and her hands as she descended back to her seat. When Sango was going back to her seat, she could see regret and shame in every student eyes. She smiled. She hoped they felt like shit after her speech.

 

After that, everyone went to get their diploma when their name was called.

 

When the ceremony was done, InuYasha, Sango, Miroku, Koga, and Shippo went to the hospital to see Kagome.

 

When they arrived into her room, it was quite crowded a little. They surrounded her bed, just staring at her.

 

“We graduated Kagome. We wish you where there to walk across the stage and receive your diploma. The school is going to hold yours until, well, when you regain consciousness,” said Shippo. He patted her right foot since he was at the end of her bed.

Kagome walked on and felt a slight weight on her right foot.

 

`What the hell?' she thought and shook it a little. Then the feeling was gone.

 

In the distance, she saw a golden door. Bright light was gleaming around it. Kagome had to shield her eyes when she was going near it.

 

`Is this it? Will I finally be free?' she questioned herself.

 

Kagome was finally at the door. It was gold and glistening. She saw a bright silver doorknob, waiting to be turned.

 

Then she heard a deep, rich voice, “Ah Kagome, I hope you will do well once you are back to reality.”

 

The girl turned around and saw a tall man with rich pale skin, honey brown eyes, and light brunette hair.

 

“Father?” Kagome's voice choked out.

 

Mr. Higurashi walked forwards and smiled. “Aye daughter, it is I. I just want to remind you how beautiful you are, inside and out. There are people waiting for you.”

 

Kagome sniveled and nodded her head. Then he heard his voice when she turned the doorknob, “I love you, my princess.”

 

When Kagome turned the doorknob all the way to the right and heard it clicked, she pushed it forward and started walking into the bright light of life.
