Everyone in the room heard a harsh inhale of breath like when someone went above water for the first time, gasping for air. Their attention went to the girl that was lying in the same position for nine months.

 

Kagome's eyes fluttered open. It was hard to see since her vision was all fuzzy since she hasn't used them for almost a year.

 

They were finally focused when she saw five people looking at her with wonder.

 

“Kagome?” they all asked at once.

 

Kagome gave them a shaky smile and said in a raspy voice, “Aye guys, it is I. Long time no see!”

 

Sango's eyes started to tear up and she cried in happiness on Miroku's shoulders. Koga and Shippo smiled widely. InuYasha just looked at her, eyes full with love. She was finally back. Now he can finally tell her that he was a total idiot to her and how much he really cared about her.

 

“So, what happened when I was gone?” asked Kagome.

 

“Graduation was yesterday. I made a speech for you. The principal asked me since he knew that I was good friends with you,” said Sango.

 

“Sorry I wasn't there. I bet it was great. I guess I have to repeat senior year since I missed so much work,” said Kagome glumly.

 

“Not exactly, the school is letting you pass since you had good grades while you were attending. Hojo came by several months ago and told me,” said InuYasha.

 

Kagome was surprised, but glad. No more school! Wait, Hojo was here?

 

“How is Hojo?” asked Kagome.

 

`Why is Kagome so worried about that Hojo guy? He's nothing of importance, just nuisance,' InuYasha thought.

 

Miroku could see green envy coloring his friends eyes. He cleared his throat and said, “I guess us four should leave, we've been here long enough. We're very glad you finally recovered Kagome, we'll see you later.”

 

Sango nodded and went to Kagome. She whispered in her ear, “InuYasha has been by your side almost every day, you should be honored he did that.”

 

When Sango left her side, Kagome blushed. InuYasha…has almost been here everyday…by her side?

 

When Miroku, Sango, Koga, and Shippo left the room, there was awkward silence between the two people.

 

“How's, my family?” asked Kagome, breaking the silence.

 

“They're good, your mom took up another job to pay the bill. Your brother is doing all right and so is your grandfather. I'll call them and tell them the good news. They'll be pleased that you are well,” said InuYasha.

 

He stood up and walked out of the room to make the call. Kagome was staring at the door. Why is InuYasha being so humble to her? Was it because of her condition that he has been acting so nice to her?

 

InuYasha entered the room again and sat down on the same chair that he had been using the past nine months.

 

“I called your mom at work and she'll be here as soon as she can and the same goes to your grandfather and brother,” he told her.

 

There was another awkward silence. Kagome shifted in her bed a little.

 

“Are you OK?” asked InuYasha with an edge of concern in his voice.

 

“Yeah, I'm fine. Just a little uncomfortable,” Kagome answered.

 

“Let me help you,” InuYasha offered. He stood up and propped up the pillows.

 

“Thanks,” Kagome muttered. InuYasha nodded.

 

There was another silence.

 

“Um, Kagome.”

 

“Yes InuYasha?”

 

“There's something I need to tell you…”
