Sesshoumaru, lord of the Western Lands had made his decision; he would seek out his half-brother and help him destroy Naraku. He and his brother have never been on good terms but I knew they could put aside their differences at least for a short time until this was done.

He flew to the village that was near his brother's forest knowing he would be there with that simple band of humans that he traveled with. They would need to make their way to a neutral battleground for the fight so he could leave Rin in the village to be safe. They were all riding his two-headed dragon Ah-Un.

The group was training like they had planned for the day, all working on their area of expertise and in the areas they were weakest in or did not use often. Miroku could use his wind tunnel only if the poisonous insects were not around and he was sure that Naraku would have some there, so he worked on the fighting skills that he used his staff with and even learned some new moves from Sango. Sango, herself was practicing her sword, she used he boomerang as her main weapon but it had been broken many times in battle proving it was not invincible. Inuyasha was taking everybody's advice and working on his sword handling, Miroku had told him that he swung Tetsusiaga around like a hammer and that comment alone was enough make Inuyasha ignore him until Kagome had reasoned with him about so he agreed, Totousi had even come by to show him how use the sheath of the sword when he had to and for once he was listening to Myouga as well. Kagome was working on her shooting and had gotten extremely good, nine out ten arrows hit the bulls-eye every time, Keada was even teaching her some spells and abilities involving her miko powers. Kagura and Roshi really didn't need much training, all their skills were perfected as to Naraku demand, whenever he took then into battle he said he wanted them at their best so they wouldn't fail him, but they always when it came to fighting Inuyasha and that would usually result in punishment and more training.

Inuyasha didn't want Kagome at the fight but gave in Keada and Myouga explained that he would need her to defeat Naraku, Kagome told him there was nothing to worry about because she would stay hidden and shoot her arrows from different possessions and their mating bound would let him know where she was and if she were in trouble or not.

All of them were concentrating until Inuyasha ran to gather them.

"Inuyasha what's wrong?" Kagome was scared, could Naraku have come this fast?

"It's Sesshoumaru" As if hearing his name, the demon lord walked out of the forest only seconds later.

"What do you want Sesshoumaru!?"

"I only wish to speak to you little brother"

Inuyasha was about to make a comment on how he never wanted to talk and just fight until a little girl peeked out from behind Sesshoumaru's legs. They all knew her as the little human girl that followed him around, if he brought her then he really didn't come to fight.

"What about brother?" He said the word with just as much disgust as Sesshoumaru, but he didn't seem to notice the tone. He looked around at the training ground and then back at them, they were all covered with sweat and the training section looked like they were just used.

"You are preparing for battle against the half-breed Naraku" It was more a statement then a question. He looked at his brother more closely and then at the human girl behind him and sniffed the air around the two. Underneath the smell of sweat and sweet scent that seemed to radiate from the girl it was there the scent of mating.

"You have mated" Another comment, Inuyasha couldn't stand the way his brother always seemed to know everything and never had to ask question.

"That's none of your business!" He took a step in front of Kagome placing her protectively behind him.

"As your older brother and only living relative it is my business, and how dumb could you be to take your mate into battle?"

"So now you want to claim me as family? You never did anything for me but cause more problems on top of the ones I already had, I survived without on my own sense I was five with no help from you, my life is not your business! And for your information, I don't want her in battle but she is needed, only she has the power to defeat Naraku completely, without her he would just come back."

Sesshoumaru looked the girl over again, he could tell she had eminence power now, in all his other encounters with her he had just overlooked it.

"So be it, but you will need my help now little brother, you alone are not strong enough to battle him."

"I don't-"

"Inuyasha it might not be a bad idea." Inuyasha whipped his head in Miroku's direction but before he could tell him off Sango put in her opinion.

"We could use someone of his strength." And before he could let her have it Kagome spoke.

"Inuyasha, please just let him help, even if we don't need his strength it wouldn't hurt to have too much."

"Okay fine!" They were all about to walk away when Kagome stopped them.

"Wait, Sesshoumaru we except your offer to help, but I want your word that you will not attack any of us or try to take Tetsusiaga while we are in partnership to you."

Sesshoumaru as surprised at her, everyone else had overlooked that he might try and do that very thing, but this girl had a brain, exactly the kind of mate his brother needed.

"I give you my word that this Sesshoumaru will not attack you or try to steal the Tetsusiaga, does that satisfy you girl?"

"Her name is Kagome not girl! And while you are in her presents you will call her name!" Inuyasha was starting to see red, who did he think he was disrespecting his mate like that, never mind that he had called her worse.

Sesshoumaru said nothing, only raised one elegantly sculpted eyebrow at his half brother. Kagome could see this was turning for the bad.

`Time to step in.'

"Inuyasha it's alright, I don't care what he calls me, just don't fight please?"

"Fine, for you I won't bitch slap bastard."

Everybody but Kagome was staring at him after that comment because only Kagome knew what it meant.

"Inuyasha, you have been watching too many movies in my time."

"That `Rush Hour' movie was funny"

"Whatever, look could we all just get back to training?"

They all shrugged their shoulders and went back to practicing, while Sesshoumaru just sat down under the shade of a near by tree to observe them. Rin and Shippou had become quick friends and were running around playing, Shippou was happy he would have someone to play with sense they had told him was not going into battle with them.

After a hard day training they all stopped to eat and then take turns in the hot springs. Inuyasha was in a bad mood because one, he would have to work with his brother and have him around for a while and two, Kagome wanted to take a bath with Sango instead of him.

"She should want to bathe with me `grumble' `grumble' I'm her mate not Sango! `grumble' It's not like I haven't seen everything already, I even kissed some of those parts! `grumble' `grumble' `grumble' I want Kagome `grumble'."

Miroku stood there for a while watch his friend mumble under his breath with his bottom lip poked out. He knew he was still upset with not being able to join Kagome in the hot spring, maybe he could tease him a bit. Ha sat down next to him and put a hand on his shoulder.

"Inuyasha are you still upset with Kagome?"

"Ain't none of your business, `grumble'"

"If I'm not mistaken I believe you two have only shard one night together, right?"

"MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS PERVERT!!" Inuyasha had turned bright red, and Miroku knew just what to say next.

"Now, now Inuyasha I'm sure there will be hundreds of times, you should meditate, all that sexual tension is not good for a body."

In an instant Miroku was up running for his life, with one apple faced red hanyou on his heels with his sword out. And this is exactly the scene Kagome and Sango walked in on after finishing their bath.

"What do you suppose happened?" Kagome said not taking her eyes off the two.

"Miroku probably let his mouth run without his brain again. Hey you two the hot spring is open!"

They both stopped and Inuyasha gave Miroku a look that said `you are saved, for now'. They both walked by the girls and Kagome stopped Inuyasha to give him the soap and towels.

"Are going to wash your hair with shampoo?"

"You wouldn't have to worry about my hair if you were going to bathe with me and see for yourself, but nooo you wanted to be with Sango not me!"

"Inuyasha, Sango wanted to talk to me about something that happened yesterday, if she hadn't I would have taken a bath with you instead."

"Really?" Kagome couldn't help but giggle at the hopefulness that showed in his voice and eyes, she pulled him in for a tight hug.

"Really" Then she jerked away from him and scrunched up her nose.

"Inuyasha go take a bath now please" She ran back to the hut laughing, leaving a stunned hanyou rooted to the spot looking redder than ever.

Naraku sat in his castle sipping tea, lost in his thoughts. He would have his army ready in four days time, and then he could claim what was rightfully his.

`I will have you Kagome, you and the jewel after I kill that mutt of yours. I can't wait to hear you scream in pain and wither underneath me.'
