InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Red Snow ❯ Revelation ( Chapter 7 )
[ T - Teen: Not suitable for readers under 13 ]
Hello. Sorry last chapter was so boring, but it was needed.
got some guesses last chapter on why Sesshoumaru didn't see Rin actually grow up. Spirit Demon and Canyon 315 actually came closest. Actually, pretty much hit the mark bulls-eye. I hope you enjoy my next chapter, which I'll try to make long.
Chapter 7: Revelation
Sesshoumaru moved faster towards the village that he left Rin in.
in, he landed in the borders. He hated human villages. Despised them, with their filth of human. But in order to ensure that the Western Lord did not make mistakes, he would enter. He would find what had become of Rin, and that woman, if she was lying, would die.
was almost certain that she was lying. He had just come to confirm that. And to make sure that the woman to not get away with lying to the Lord Sesshoumaru.
he leapt into the air, and padded down softly before the old miko's shrine.
wasn't long before Sesshoumaru heard "Stop there, demon!" He looked slightly left of the shrine to see two women. One in silver, one in gold. But he didn't see the old miko anywhere. Ignoring the young miko's last comment he spoke instead [1] "Where is the young girl who lived here?"
miko's liked a little shocked. "Young girl?" The other spoke. "There is no young girl here." "There is only us, demon!" "And we shall slay you!" Their extra show of bravado didn't do much. Rin was not here? But these girls were ignorant. The old miko would know.
"Where is the aged miko that lives in this shrine?" These miko were weak. Paling in comparison to Rin-
woman.
in comparison to that woman. "The Lady Chouwa is-"
"Is what?" Came in elderly voice behind them. The started, this time nearly dropping their bows. "Lady Chouwa!" They both bowed respectfully. Chouwa opened her aged mouth to speak "I know this demon. Get inside, the both of you."
young miko's look a little miffed, but complied and walked inside.
"Lord! What brings you back to our small village."
looked at the miko almost strangely. What else? "Where is the little girl I left here?" Chouwa seemed a bit amused. "Girl yes. Little no. Not anymore. Have you forgotten?" Her expression darkened. "Or have you not seen her yet? She have reached you by now."
a little girl? That woman. She wasshe couldn't bebut she was, she had to beshe couldn't be
of voicing his doubts, he decided he could demean himself a little further, if only to ask a question.
"What did she look like?" Sesshoumaru inwardly cringed at asking such a useless, pitiful thing.
"Do you not know? She was searching for you, dressed in the armor made from the scales of a ryu demon. If you saw none of that, then you must have noticed the her stunning beauty? Perhaps her unnatural power? But, you must have noticed the holy sword she bore. Rin never holds on to anything tighter."
woman was Rin.
Without further thought Sesshoumaru leapt and headed for the West.
Rin
she could not find her lord. For all of Rin's efforts, Sesshoumaru, apparently had vanished. So after an hours searching, she headed down to Ah-Un's pen.
down the flights of stairs that would lead to Ah-Un's pasture and pen, Rin thought of the places he would go. She had recently met Jaken a way back, and Sesshoumaru rarely went anywhere without him. So whatever it was, he wanted no one to know. Which was fine, considering how she was pretty much "that woman" whenever he saw her.
reached the pen and looked around. A little way away, she spotted a dark blot against the green grass. "Ah-Un!" She called, running swiftly to the beast.
Ah-Un's head, Rin felt the familiar rush of wind on her back, and held a soft beat of a foot on the ground.
"Rin."
habit, Rin immediately turned around and answered, "Yes, Sesshou-" She stopped, shocked. She stood for a couple of moments, gaping. "Youyou called me Rin ."
looked calmly at her and answered, "Yes."
gulped nervously. "But I thought that-"
"I did." he interrupted "Now I don't. Am I wrong? You are not Rin?"
"No!" she responded quickly, "No. I'm Rin. I was- I was justsurprised that you knew. I mean before you didn't, and well" she waved her hand suggestively.
answered slowly. "I did. This Sesshoumaru has already admitted that." Rin nodded. "And this Sesshoumaru admits that he made a mistake." That surprised Rin even more.
"Sesshoumaru-sama never makes mistakes. Only misjudges."
One month later, Palace of the West, Rin's Room, Rin
's room had to go through some serious renovations to make her room suitable for her.
immediately after Sesshoumaru had admitted to his misjudgment, he had ordered Jaken to buy her some new kimono's and accessories, furnish her room, and call her Rin. The little toad stuttered and squawked how that woman was not Rin and what kind of bewitchment had been placed upon him to believe it. He then ordered Rin off so he could further "instruction" the toad. He left then, Sesshoumaru with him.
had yet to return, a month ago, and Rin was getting worried. But in the mean time, she wore her traditional miko's clothing. This made the servants particularly skittish and they jumped around her until word had gotten around that Rin was back, and dressed as a miko. It took the rest of the day to explain why she was back (in a very condensed version) and why she was dressed like a miko. The servants took it pretty well.
was only the third time she had entered her room for purposes other than sleeping, so Rin decided to take advantage of it and look around more thoroughly. Scanning her possessions, Rin saw that indeed, nothing had really changed.
last time she entered her room was before Sesshoumaru knew it was her. Apparently she wasn't allowed in the room at the time, so when Jaken passed he waved the Staff of Heads at her and told her not to be there. Which broke out a fight. It ended with Rin leaving the room and Jaken getting a little shock of her purification powers.
was told to sleep in an extra room until Sesshoumaru let her back in. She smiled, thinking of what Kiniro and Giniro would think of her current accommodations and her current accommodator. Rin never told them from where she had come from, even though they where constantly bantering about the subject. "If only they knew. They'd have-" Rin stopped. She heard a rustle out of her paper door. "Who is it."
heard a grunt and someone spoke "Let me in, you silly girl! I won't stand here all day!" It was Jaken, obviously returning with her new clothes. She rushed to the door and released the latch that held it in place. [2]
came in, dragging silk bags along with him. There was a servant behind the toad carrying the majority of the bags. Sesshoumaru was there also holding only one silk bag with his clawed hand. "I hope there to your pleasing, Rin." He said the name with spite.
rather then retorting she walked fluidly over and brought an article of clothing out of the bag. Rin gasped, "Jaken! It's lovely!" And it was. The kimono was a fine, deep blue silk, embroidered with an even finer butterfly design. The wings varied, colored from a dark red, to a light purple. The fabric was heavy, weighed down by many layers, and ridiculously long.
handed over the kimono carefully to the servant, who placed it in her wardrobe. She shuffled through, to find a haori and hakama. This was also a fine silk, but not as beautiful as the previous one. It was apparently meant for fighting, because it had no design on it, with only a white top and blue bottom.
bag contained tobi and geta, while yet another had more simple, but beautiful, kimonos.
different servant came in then, holding a large, but very decorative, wooden crate. He placed it in front of Rin silently and left. She knelt and opened the lid. Her eye's widened considerably. "Beautiful" she breathed. Inside was exquisite jewelry, fit for the finest of ladies. There was a pearl necklace, small enough to look becoming and not bulky. There was more combs, though not as beautiful as her original, and dainty hair-clips. There was also décor for her face. Rouge, face-paint, eye shadow. Everything was beautiful.
wasn't until she had looked at all and the servant and Jaken had left that Sesshoumaru showed her what he was holding.
held the silk bag up and she took it, smiling. He stood over her while she sat and opened it. Revealed inside was the most stunning things yet. A kimono, obviously designed from her sword, was the most beautiful thing she had ever seen. The superior silk was midnight black, and a gold dragon was sewn in it's head ending at her breast. It wasn't too outrageous, and it seemed to be as weightless as her armor. It had only one layer beneath it and the obi was also gold. Rin looked closer at it and gasped, "But this is no ordinary thread! It's-"
"Gold." Sesshoumaru finished. He looked almost pleased with himself.
her head in disbelief, Rin lay the kimono warily beside her. She looked again at the carrier to see that there was still something in it. Reaching in, she pulled out a black hakama with half a gold dragon on it. Grasping in further she took out two things; a small box and the matching haori. The haori was decorated with the rest of the dragon. Looking at the set, Rin saw that it seemed to be a very flimsy material. Almost on impulse, she attempted to rip the end of the haori. She quickly dropped it, and Rin almost apologized but realized there was no rip.
her eyebrows raised, she turned her head to Sesshoumaru. He only moved his hand, indicating the box. Rin turned to it and picked it up.
was considerably smaller than the other, but just as ornate. Opening, Rin saw that it contained matching jewelry to. A necklace, with a gold dragon as the chain, and it's tail and mouth connected to a black nightstone. The rest consisted mainly of gold and nightstone, with pins, clips, rings and other lovely charms. [3]
closed the box, amazed. All of these things were obviously hand-made and very expensive. Why spoil her like this? He never did it before. Deciding to voice her opinions, Rin turned back and looked at Sesshoumaru.
"Why did you get me these things? They're for great, beautiful ladies. Why?"
answered simply,
"Because you are."
End of Chapter 7: Revelation
Finally! I'm so sorry it took so long to get out! Between writer's block and typing up a new story, it's taking awhile. But never fear, I'll be working top speed to get it out.
- I'm sure this seemed very repetitive to the first chapter. It's supposed to. Also the Giniro and Kiniro thing is supposed to resemble the Red and White Priestesses in the anime.
2- Yes, there is a latch. It's kind of like those ones that have a loop that connects to a knob.
- Nightstone isn't a real jewel. I just say it is. It's big and black.
that's all. If you need anything else clarified, just ask, I'll e-mail the answer to you if your not willing to wait. Thanks to my reviewers and 'till next time, review!
