Chapter 6: Plans and Privacy
The next morning, Kagome and Sango woke to a cloudy Sunday morning.
“That was some festival, last night, except for being touched by a certain somebody and having to drag him all the way to my house.” Sango said, yawning and getting up from the sleeping bag.
“You know you could have just left him there.” Kagome responded, as she also was getting up and heading to her private bathroom.
“I know, but I'm not that cruel.” Sango said.
They both were getting dressed when Sango's cell phone rang. It was Miroku.
“What do want now, Miroku? I'm surprised you're still alive after that knockout last night.”
“Yeah, Yeah, listen, can you, Kagome, and Ayame come over to my place today?” “What for?”
“We're planning a surprise party for Inuyasha. He turns 18 in a few weeks, the 20th. I think it would be great.” Miroku finished explaining.
“No prob. We'll be there. See you in a little while.” She responded and they hung up. “Kagome, we need to be at Miroku's in a little while. Ayame's also coming. He says we're planning a surprise party for Inuyasha's 18th birthday.” She yelled to her.
Kagome came out fully clothed and ready.
“Surprise party, huh? This should be interesting.” As soon as she said that, her mother called them both down for breakfast. They went downstairs to see her parents and little brother in the kitchen getting their breakfast.
“So how did your dates go last night, girls?” Kagome's mother asked them.
“It was pretty fun. The fireworks were incredible. I think Miroku suffered a nasty blow to the head. Sango practically knocked him out for touching her.” Kagome responded as she sat beside Sango and Souta, and ate her little breakfast.
“He just doesn't know when to quit. Speaking of interesting…” Sango said as she looked Kagome with an evil grin.
“Don't you dare, Sango! Don't even think of it!” She said, becoming quickly embarrassed, pointing at her.
“What happened?” Her father asked, now interested.
Before Kagome could say anything, Souta blurted out,
“We saw her and her `boyfriend', making out on the front porch!” She was speechless.
“I saw it too. I thought they were going to swallow each other.” Sango added, now starting to laugh.
Her parents just looked at her.
“Making out, huh? You're lucky I didn't catch you.” Her father finally said. Her mother had a different view of it.
“Now, dear, she finally has a boyfriend and I think it's so romantic. Leave her alone. You know we went through the same thing, but I `m not going into that now.”
“Sorry to eat and run, but me and Sango got to go.” Kagome finally said as she swallowed the last of her quick breakfast and was heading toward the door.
“Thanks for the yummy breakfast, Mr. and Mrs. H.” Sango said as she followed Kagome towards the door.
“Why the sudden rush?” Mom called out.
“We're going to Miroku's to plan a surprise party. Be back later.” With that they shut the door behind them.
On their way, Sango called Ayame and told her to meet them both at Miroku's. About tem minutes later, they reached the two story house and found both Miroku and Ayame waiting for them.
“That was fast, Ayame.” Kagome said.
“When you have a car, it tends to be a little faster than walking.” Ayame responded sarcastically.
“Okay, Okay, let's get to it. Now you that Inuyasha's birthday is in 2 weeks and I would like everything to be sorted out. We'll have to have certain jobs.” Miroku explained.
“You know, why don't we have at his house? We would to let his mom know though.” Ayame suggested.
“That's exactly what I was thinking, Ayame. I'm going to call his house and explain to his mother about it. I'm sure she won't mind.” Miroku responded.
“There are also the people, food, music, decorations.” Kagome added. “How are we going to divide that up?” Sango questioned.
“Here's the way I see it. Ayame, you'll be in charge of the guest list. Sango, you and Kagome will be in charge of the music and food, and I'll be in charge of the decorations. Oh, and Kagome, you are the one who has to keep Inuyasha away from this information.” Miroku said as he pointed to each girl, ending at Kagome.
“And why is that?” She asked.
“Because you're his girlfriend, that's why.” Miroku shot back.
“He's got a point there.” Ayame admitted.
“So me and Sango take care of the food and music?” She asked just to be sure.
“You got it.” Kagome's cell phone was vibrating and she took it out to see who it was from. She read the new text message, smiling as she read it. Miroku, Sango, and Ayame already knew who it was and were smiling at each other. She closed her phone.
“Well, if you guys excuse me, I `m taking off for a while.” She said as she grabbed her stuff.
“Where are you going?” Miroku asked with a mischievous grin.
“Going to spend some time alone with her boyfriend, how sweet.” Sango said in a cute, teasing tone.
“Shut up, you guys. We haven't been alone for a while, so get off my back.” As soon as she said that, they all heard a car screeching at the front. Kagome looked out on of the windows and saw a hot red car, and saw Inuyasha get out of the car and stood there, waiting.
“See you guys!” She said as she ran out the door. Miroku came up with a plan.
“Why don't we follow them, see where they go?” For that, he received two hits on the head.
“No, we should leave them alone this time. Like she said, they haven't been alone for awhile.” Sango said a bit angered.
“Yeah, I know when I was with my ex-boyfriend; I wanted to be alone with him from time to time.” Ayame said in agreement with Sango.
`Rats.' Was all Miroku could think.
“So why bring me to lunch when you just saw me last night?” Kagome asked Inuyasha as they sat down at a restaurant waiting to order.
“We barely have any time together anymore. I just want to spend some time with you alone. That's all.” He told her with a caring look in his eyes. She just smiled back.
“You know, I was really surprised the way you acted around my father last night. I know my father is scary sometimes, but I thought you would less nervous than me, seeing you weren't in your demon form.” There was a pause for a second.
“I might have been calm outside but inside I couldn't stop shaking. There are two reasons why I wouldn't want to get on your father's bad side: One because I respect him and Two because I fear for my life!” Kagome couldn't help but laugh.
“That's the way Dad is when he's looking after his girls, particularly me and my Mom. He's very protective of our family.” Then she looked down with a hint of worry in her eyes.
“Still, eventually, he's going to find out about you and all hell will break loose. If I know my Dad, he'll blow his top. I never do anything behind his back and this is the first time I've kept anything from him.” She then looked up at him, at his human form. He was also looking down but looked up when their drinks were set sown by the waitress. After the waitress took their orders, Inuyasha looked up at her.
“I know. I'm nervous beyond all hell. I'm sure something good will come out of it. She nodded in agreement, but in her mind she still had doubts and fears of the future.
“You know, I still can't figure out why you bought me that fan. I know you wanted to, but it was too much.” She said, suddenly bringing up last night's un-expected purchase. He shook his head and covered her hand with his.
“Don't worry about the price. I bought it for you because, like I said last night, you're worth it.” Kagome shook her head with a smile, sighing. `He's just so nice and sweet to me. But I only hope Dad will see it.' She thought.
“I'm glad we're finally alone, without the girls and Miroku, which reminds me, I still need to kill them for our “surprise” encounter. I didn't have the chance to before.” Inuyasha laughed in agreement.
“Definitely. We'll get them, but if it wasn't for them doing that, we might have not seen one another not knowing.” He then reached over and gave her a little kiss on the cheek. Then their lunches came and sat eating with both looking at each other.
After their meal, they drove to the park and relaxed under their tree. Kagome sat between Inuyasha's legs, with her head on his chest, with him wrapping an around her waist. `I wonder what it would be like if we actually “did it.” no. I shouldn't think that, I'm only 16. I haven't done anything wrong. I know many girls get pregnant at 16 just because they sleep with a guy that they think loves her, but most of the time, the guys only want it because they have nothing better to do, not showing any feelings towards the girl. Besides, Mom and Dad will kill me if they found out I slept with him and end up getting pregnant. I've remained a virgin all my life and I should stay like that until marriage. But will happen before then? I know he must have often thought about it, but I'm not going to bring it up until the right time.' She turned and looked at him in deep thought and him at her, wondering what she was thinking. He lifted her chin up to get her attention.
“You think a lot. You know that?” He then kissed her forehead. She let out a small laugh. “I know. There's a lot in my mind right now, nothing to worry about.” She then leaned into him again, watching the activity around them. `I know I love him, but how does he feel about me?' They laid there for a while before finally getting up, drove up to her home and kissed each other goodbye. `Maybe it wouldn't be too bad. Should I? I don't know.' Kagome wondered as she went into the house. Inuyasha just drove off, in deep and serious thought himself.
