“Welcome, my name's Diana. I'll be your morning bus driver,” the older woman on the bus said.

Kagome looked at her. She was rather plain, average build, with short poofy blondish grey hair. She looked nice though, Kagome decided. Well the benevolent kind of nice. Not the attractive kind of nice.

“I'm Kagome.” Kagome said unnecessarily. She climbed onto the bus and noticed that there were no other kids on the bus. Wondering whether or not to mention this fact Kagome sighed. She better not.

“Well, hurry and pick a seat dear. I have a schedule.” Diana said.

“Sure of course.” Kagome picked the seat in the very back on the left hand side. For some reason she always preferred the left.

They drove in silence for a while, winding around the hills and farms. Kagome lived about seven miles from town, but it seemed like the middle of nowhere. After they stopped at the second railroad track and Kagome could tell they weren't headed straight to town she piped up. “So are there any other kids on our route?”

“Yes. We have one other boy named Miroku. We'll be at his house in about five minutes.”

Just as she had said, in five minutes they were stopped in front of a double wide. Kagome craned her neck to see the front door. No one came out. So they waited and waited. Finally as Diana took her foot off the break and was about to drive off, the door opened and a teenage boy waltzed out. He had a striped polo shirt on with some name brand pair of jeans.

As soon as he got on the bus he stopped. He looked at Kagome and smiled. He ambled to the back of the bus and sat down in the seat in front of her. He seemed really surprised to see her. Of course Kagome knew why. It wasn't the fist day, but rather her first day.

“Diana, you never told me we were getting a new student and especially not a pretty girl.” He winked at Kagome.

Despite the blatant flirting Kagome felt herself blush, which was a problem because she was so pale to begin with. She knew she must look like a cooked lobster. Luckily the sun wasn't fully raised so it was still dark enough to really see her.

“I'm Miroku. So, what's your name?” He extended a hand.

“Kagome.” She grasped his hand and in half a second he had swept her hand to his mouth and planted a kiss on it. As fast as it had come it was gone. Diana hadn't noticed a thing.

They shared about forty-five minutes of light playful conversation. “Did I tell you about Toby? He's such a player. Even by my standards.” He threw in another wink. “Do you know whose class you're in?”

“Um… Miss. Peterson?”

“Ah too bad, you're not with me. But in your class is Jonathon, Daniel, Chris, oh and Inuyasha. He's pretty bad ass. You look like you'd like him. He's a little punk Goth too.”

“I'm not Goth or punk. I don't like classifying myself into a pre-processed stereotype. But if you have to I guess I'd just be scene.” Kagome hated it when people called her Goth or punk. Sure she might be dark and moody sometimes, but there were also times when she was so happy and excited it wasn't even funny. Thank you Bipolar disorder.

“Sorry babe, I didn't mean any disrespect. I just am not that educated about all these scene kids.” Miroku ruffled her hair and smiled.

“Okay, but just for that I'm not talking to you for the rest of the trip.” Kagome also smiled.

“Suits me, we're already there.”

And so they were. The bus had stopped behind another bus outside a small blue-grey building. Well small as far as schools go. Kagome knew about the layout of the school. She had visited it last week for a tour. That was the front hall. Right off of that was the offices and meeting rooms. Down the West hallway were the middle school and elementary school kids and one high school classroom. On the other side was the gym. Off of the gym were the other two high school class rooms. It had once been a church or something.

Kagome stood to get off the bus and paused. Miroku was still sitting.

“Oh Kagome dear, we have to wait for the gym doors to open. That means they're ready to have you in.” Diana explained.

Kagome was about to sit back down when she saw the doors open. Almost simultaneously the busses' doors opened and a flood of children emerged. A flood being about fifteen kids.

“Hey, hey! What do we have here?” A tall heavy set boy asked no one in particular.

“Back off Tory. Give her a chance to get to know the place first.” Miroku put an arm around Kagome and guided her to the gym where a black balding man was holding the door open.

“Miroku, you know there's a no touching rule! Hands off.” The black man called.

“Of course,” lifting his arm Miroku added, “that's Mr. Andy, he's pretty cool, but he enforces the rules, like you saw.”

“Yeah…” Kagome glanced to her left and saw a boy who must have been sent from heaven itself. He had long jet black hair tied in a low ponytail, too many earrings to count, a lip ring, gorgeous yellow-brown eyes, and very well defined muscles, from what she could see of course. “Oh my gosh, who is that guy,” she nodded in the boy's direction, “with the KoRn shirt and those really nice pants on?”

Miroku had a very knowing look on his face. “I knew it. Told you you'd like him.” He called to the boy, “Inuyasha!”

Casting a quick look over his shoulder Inuyasha continued walking. They were in the gym now. Miroku headed off to a door towards to right. “I'm this way,” he called, “just follow Inuyasha.”

Inuyasha continued walking straight across the gym to a door on the opposite side. The door was wide open and standing just inside the door way was a thin woman in her late twenties. She had brown hair with blond highlights.

“Kagome, how nice to see you again.” Miss. Peterson said cheerfully.

“Thanks, nice to see you too,” Kagome responded.

Kagome walked into the classroom and took in everything. There were two large desks on opposite sides of the room. In the middle of the room were two large tables. The tables had masking tape dividing the tables into four equal sections.

Miss. Peterson saw Kagome staring at the tables and offered an explanation. “Instead of desks we all work together at these tables. The tape just shows where everyone's space it. If you write on it, you get put into the off trust area.”

“Off trust?” Kagome asked puzzled.

“Oh how silly of me. The off trust area is where you go when you're a disruption to the educational process. The penalties are that you can't go to PE, you can't talk to the other children, and you don't get any points for the day. You don't really get suspended or expelled here; it's just not something we usually do.” She looked at the clock. “Speaking of PE, it's time. Kagome you'll just keep score today. Tomorrow bring some more suitable shoes,” she added glancing at Kagome's combat boots.

Inuyasha walked by Kagome and while Miss. Peterson's back was turned he gave her a suave smile and a jerky movement with his head.

Kagome felt herself going red again. At that exact moment Miss Peterson chose to turn and look at her. “Goodness, you're so flushed. Are you feeling alright?”

“Yes ma'am. Just a little warm. I think I might have a headache, but I'm fine.” Kagome put a hand to her face and willed herself to cool down.

“Well then, off to PE!”

Bunnie: Not too shabby for a start I think. Writing this story is so easy so far. I got three pages done in like two days.

Inu: Yeah whatever. I still think it sucks.

Kagome: Aiiiiieee! You cut my hair!

Bunnie: I like it better this way. It's cool.

Kagome: And since when do I listen to Senses Fail?

Bunnie: I'll cover that, and give you a list of all the bands you like.
