InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Silent Protector ❯ Blame it on the Weatherman ( Chapter 4 )

[ T - Teen: Not suitable for readers under 13 ]

A/N: I'm going to but the friends fic on hold only because I wrote one out yesterday and I felt it didn't even come close to being worthy of a parody or even a spin off. So I'm going to comb through it and perfect it a little more. Anyway, here's chapter four. Oh and there were so many reviews for this story that I want to say thank you reviewers!

Last note: If the lyrics for any of my fics seem off from what a little booklet says or anything it's only because I do it by ear.

----------------------------------------

Kagome woke up when she felt a loss of warmth and soon realized she was hugging a pillow, not Inuyasha.

How did he do that? She thought and soon came to her senses when she herd yelling in the main room.

"You were supposed to protect her Inuyasha! Now's she is missing and probably dead, along with Souta!"

"Guys I-"

"No Inuyasha! You failed! Just like you did with Kikyo!"

"But guys-"

"No buts Inuyasha! How could you let this happen!"

"Will you both stop yelling at me and let me speak!"

Kagome recognized the three as Sango, Miroku, and Inuyasha, obviously.

"Fine." Sango huffed out. "It better be good." Miroku added, his own disgust showing.

Aw, they really miss me. Kagome thought, changed her cloths quickly.

"Kagome is just fine. She is fast asleep in the guest room. Souta it playing with Shippo in his room. Geeze."

Kagome could imagine Inuyasha folding his arms over his chest and plopping down on the couch with a touch of attitude.

Kagome sighed as she finished sliding the shirt over her head and walked out into the main room that served as a kitchen and a living room. A small counter island separated the two.

She saw Inuyasha was a really hurt look on his face.

Who was Kikyo?

Sango and Miroku looked surprised and relieved.

"Kagome, you're ok!"

"Oh thank Buddha!" (I think that is how it is spelled.)

==========

"So Inuyasha was watching over you the whole time. Sorry buddy." Miroku stated. Looking over at the hanyou that was watching the news. Miroku only got a "Feh" back.

Kagome just sighed and took a sip of her Snapple. Putting the cap back on before approaching Inuyasha. Giving him a slight kiss on the cheek. Catching everyone off guard.

"Did I ever say thank you?" She asked. But didn't get the response she expected, and who she expected it from.

"Oh my lord! Look!" Sango said. Pointing at the TV.

`Late last night police were called to the old Shrine towards the northern area of town. A neighbor had called police reporting shots fired. At the scene police found the dead body of a mother who's name has not been released. The police also found pictures of two children who have yet to be identified. However, the kids had not be found. What has become of the two kids, has yet to be seen. But police fear that the kids were kidnapped and killed.'

"Oh, shit." Inuyasha said with a quick roll of his eyes.

Kagome was speechless. A single tear rolling down her cheek. It was hitting her full force now. They killed my mom.

She quietly sobbed. Getting up and heading back for her room. Sango was about to follow when Inuyasha stopped her.

"I'll go." He said, walking down the hall. Miroku and Sango looked at each other.

"Out little hanyou's growing up." Miroku said, when he thought he was out of ear shot, a small smile on his face.

"I heard that!" Inuyasha called from down the hall.

"Damn his super hearing." Miroku said.

===

"Kagome?" Inuyasha said, poking his head in the door to see her laying down under the covers. He could hear her silently sob. He walked back out into the living room. "She's laying down. Best guess would be that she won't be up anytime soon."

"I wonder how Souta is doing." Sango said.

"Better than she is. Though I think he knows what happen, I just don't think he was as close to his mom and Kagome was."

"Used to be." Miroku corrected. "It's been a good what, three years, since their family sat down for a good diner together. It's been mostly Souta and Kagome."

Sango nodded with a sigh. "Well I guess we'll leave. We'll be in touch Inuyasha. Take good care of her."

Inuyasha was now leaning up agaisned the doorframe that had no door, but connected the kitchen and living room. His arms one again, folded over his chest he nodded.

Once they left Inuyasha hadn't moved.

When I lost my parents what made me feel better? Sango said that Kagome's father had up and left and wasn't coming back. And now that her mom is dead… hmmm… the stars used to make me feel better. But you can't see them from here. And I can't take them both out there and I can't leave Souta here.

Inuyasha continued thinking before it hit him. He made some calls to a couple of companies.

"You do have some? Good. Ok, listen, I'm in great need. A very good friend just gone through some major grief. I was wondering if it would be possible to get those delivered within the next three hours or so." Slight pause. "Thank you for understanding! That would be great. Thank you!"

Ok. Now for part two. Upstairs has never been used and it is a giant open area. I have an idea.

"Shippo, come here please."

"What do you want Inuyasha."

"I need you to keep an eye on our guests ok? I'll only be gone for three minutes."

Shippo looked confused and said ok.

Inuyasha changed into his human form before running out the door.

====

Inuyasha returned five minutes later and went upstairs with the large amount of quick dry paint. He set up some fans and began to paint. The entire room went from bare walls to pure white. Inuyasha looked over his work. The floor carpet had been originally white. No need to worry about it.

A couple lights lit up the pitch white room as Inuyasha herd a knock at the door.

"Rent a Center delivery!" A man called. Inuyasha went back to his human form to answer the door. He helped the man carry in the several large boxes. Before wiping imaginary dust off.

"Will that be for rental, or do you wish to purchase?"

"Purchase please. Here you go." Inuyasha said. Handing the man the amount due plus a healthy tip. "Do you want help setting up, sir?"

"No thank you." Inuyasha said as the man walked out the door.

Inuyasha looked at the boxes in his house. He changed back to hanyou and began to quietly move them upstairs. Setting them up.

==== (A/N: I know there is no such paint that dries in… twenty or so minutes.)

Inuyasha plugged the last of the items in. Making sure they worked. Then he readjusted the chair in the middle of the room. He sighed, brushing yet more imaginary dirt off.

He went down stairs, after checking the new A/C in the room. He knocked on Kagome's door.

"Please come back later."

"Kagome get up. There is something you should see."

"Inuyasha please go away."

Inuyasha went in the room and picked her up off the bed. She struggled in his grasp for a moment before giving up as they went of the stairs. Once up there Kagome was disoriented. Until Inuyasha sat her in a chair. She looked around in the pitch white room as Inuyasha went into a lighted booth in front of her.

Kagome watched in awe as the room lit up in white spots of light. Inuyasha came out after a moment. He sat next to her in the large chair, putting an arm around her.

"I remember when I lost my parents, the stars helped me out at night. But you can't see them from here so I made some."

"Inuyasha. They're beautiful."

"Well that's not all that this room does. But that's all I'll show you for now. Oh, wait. Except for this."

He said. Pointing out four speakers around the room before disappearing back into the booth. The glow of lights reflected on his face. Kagome nearly giggled when he lifted some headphones up to his ear for a moment.

A moment later Kagome was met with the sounds of a guitar.

Inuyasha came over and sat back down with her as she snuggled into him. Letting her self relax for the first real time in a day or so.

Time

In it's time

To win back you love again

I will be there

I will be there

Dawn, of your love

Can bring back your love someday

I will be there

I will be there

Kagome was in a trance as she listened to the music. It strangely sounded like Inuyasha.

(Violin Solo)

Fight

Be a fight

To win back your love again

I will be there

I will be there

Dawn of your live

Can bring down the wall someday

I will be there

I will be there

Here we go again

All the way from the start

I will try to change

Things that can't go along

Your bright as you are warm

So strong that I can't get through

Is there really no chance

To start once again

I'm loving you

Kagome watched the stars as they began to twinkle a little. Must be an affect of the system they came from.

Try

Baby try

To trust in my love again

I will be there

I will be there

Love

Oh, I love

Shooting me from the wind

I will be there

I will be there

Here we go again

All the way from the start

I will try to change

Things that can't go along

Your bright as you are warm

So strong that I can't get through

Is there really no chance to start once again

Here we go again

All the way form the start

I will try to change

Things that can't go along

It's our will to fight

All in all what difference through

Will she give me a chance

This can't be the end

(Guitar Solo)

Kagome listened intently to the music as Inuyasha slowly ran his fingers through her hair.

He was realizing that he was falling more and more in love with Kagome.

I'm still loving you

I mean it all along

I'm still loving you

I mean it all along

Here we go again

All the way from the start

I will try to change

Things that can't go along

Your bright as you are warm

So strong that I can't get through

Is there really no chance

This can't be the end

I'm loving you

I'm loving you

Kagome sighed as the song came to an end. Hoping that Inuyasha didn't get up. She smiled to herself. "Thank you Inuyasha. You don't know how much this means to me." She whispered as a thunderstorm begin over the speakers, it was followed by a acoustic guitar.

Kagome listened to it for a moment before kissing Inuyasha on the cheek. Then watched in awe as the scene changed from a night sky to a light rain storm with a small rainbow going across the entire room.

It's just

One more day

No one said

There would be rain again

Won't blame it on myself

Yah

I'll blame it on the weather man

Inuyasha was a little stunned. Screw it. I can tell that Kagome won't hurt me like Kikyo did. She seems too kind for that to happen.

Inuyasha smiled down at Kagome as she rested further onto his chest as they sat on the couch while stars twinkled and shot across the ceiling.

Inuyasha took in the scent of a peaceful Kagome. Gently watching the rain storm above his head.

Get away

For a while

Here I am

Out on my own again

Won't blame it on myself

Yah, I'll blame it on the weather man

Standing on the shore

Calling out my name

I was here before

I could see your face

Only cloudswill see

Tears are in my eyes

Empty like my heart

Why'd you say goodbye

Inuyasha leaned down and whispered into Kagome's ear.

"If you're going to live here than tomorrow I will take you and Souta to your house to get your things."

Kagome looked up at him. "But tomorrow I was supposed to go to school."

"You can't. Remember, everyone thinks you are dead."

Kagome sighed. "I Guess you're right. But how are we going to make a living?"

"Well. My father left enough money to last about thirty years, saying we spent a little over a million a day."

Kagome's eyes widened. "So then why live here if you can afford a nicer place?"

Inuyasha smirked. "I never had a reason to get a better place."

The rain goes on

On and on again

The rain goes on

On and on again

The rain goes on

On and on again

Alone

I can hear

Hear a song

Playin for me again

Won't blame it on myself

Oh, no

I'll blame it on the weather man

Standing on the shore

Calling out my name

I was here before

I could see your face

Only clouds will see

Tears are in my eyes

Empty like my heart

Why'd you say goodbye

The rain goes on

On and on again

The rain goes on

On and on again

The rain goes on

On and on again

Maybe it's too late

Maybe it's too late

To try again

La, la, la, la

Maybe I can't blame

Maybe I can't blame

Maybe I can't blame

The weather man

The rain goes on

On and on again

The rain goes on

On and on again

The rain goes on

On and on again

I'll blame it on the weather man

Kagome sighed. Maybe living with him is the best Idea. He can be kind and cute. Screw the cute part. He's just down right hansom. And I have no where else to go.

"So does that mean I get to live in your guest room?"

Inuyasha smirked. "Maybe. Only if you want to."

Kagome snuggled closer. "Hmmm. This is cozy." She murmured.

Could it be that she really has fallen in love with me?

Could it be that he really has fallen in love with me?

They both thought at the same time. Kagome took her chances, leaning up to kiss him on the lips seeing if he will return it. She wasn't disappointed.

After a moment later they pulled back as Kagome got up and stretched.

"I'm tired." She kissed Inuyasha one more time. "Thank you." She whispered in his ear, giving them a little rub before going down the stairs.

Leaving Inuyasha to sit there stunned under the rainbow.

"Wow. She really does love me." He let a smile come over his face, it soon turned back to a serious look. "Tomorrow I will take her and Souta to her house to get their things. I'll have to be on a big lookout, those men might still be looking for them."

And with that, Inuyasha shut down the computer and Dj system heading off to his room downstairs.
