"Oh, wow! What a cute outfit! So whose the lucky guy?" Yuka beamed, after opening the front door and watching Kagome stroll in with a broad smile on her face. Kagome was still at a loss as to why she was so happy all of a sudden, and a nervous laugh escaped her.

"U-um what do you mean?" she inquired, attempting to seem nonchalant but failing dismally. Yuka eyed her with a very deadpan expression and it clashed very strangely with her normal unaware and enthusiastic air. "I just bought a new outfit...nothing more..." Kagome continued, her voice getting meeker and meeker.

"Come on, Kagome! Why the hell would you go out and buy yourself a new outfit if you weren't going out with some hottie. Unless..." she gasped looking horrified, "Oh no, you're not depressed about Koga again are you? And trying to help the depression by buying things again?" Kagome almost vomited at the idea. Why, it had been months since she had felt even a tinge of lack of self worth thanks to that low life. Now more than ever she saw how utterly lacking in brain cells she had been in those days of moping around and feeling sorry for herself because of that brainless jerk. She didn't have to say anything for Yuka to get the message about how incredibly incorrect of a statement she had made for once. It seemed Yuka never got the message about anything. It wasn't as if Kagome disliked her for it, she had become quite a accustomed to the fact her friend would always manage to say the wrong things at the wrong times and always maintain her gift of sheer ignorance and being blissfully oblivious most of the time. "Sorry, so dumb of me, duh your over that idiot. Wasn't that ages ago when he left you, anyway?"

Kagome failed to stop a growl that escaped her at the mention of it. Even if she was over him, it wasn't a pleasant thing to be reminded constantly of how you were dumped by someone. "Just forget that...and forget your stupid idea that there's a guy involved. Did you ever think for once that maybe I'd want to look nice, just for me?" For some inexplicable reason Kagome just found herself unable to tell Yuka about the true reason for her daring attempt to fill in the need of curves for the somewhat racy tight pink dress and button-up white sweater, it just couldn't be pulled off without them. Sure she had the breasts, but one of the things Kagome hated most about her body was how she was sure she basically appeared like a long stick of broccoli, stick thin from her toes and up, until you got her breasts which must have appeared somewhat freakish in her opinion on such a thin build.

"Yeah, well I don't believe you for a second, Kagome," Yuka said, "I mean, I doubt you'd spend all that money on a pair of stiletto heels, and you hate heels; use cleavage, I thought you hated that too; get such a sexy outfit; plus wear a sort of low confidence sweater that would sort of keep a man at bay...IF THERE WAS NO MAN TO KEEP AT BAY!" There was a tense silence as Yuka glared at Kagome suspiciously, who finally sighed and gave in.

"Okay, okay, maybe there is...this guy..."

"Ha! I KNEW it!" Yuka cried triumphantly. "And what is he like?" Kagome blinked a few times at her friend, debating with herself whether she should inform her of the ludicrous circumstance she was meeting a person she had never seen in her life, because of a chat.

"Well...he's pretty smart, even though your first impression is that he's not...also, he's nice but he acts really rude at first--he's sort of cocky, but he knows it... He's also really sarcastic and a bit of jerk, but there's something sort of compelling about him... Like when you messag--I mean talk with him you get the impression that he really cares about what you have to say and other people but he acts like he doesn't care about anything." Yuka didn't seem to have heard anything Kagome had said.

"So, is he hot?"

"Um..."

"What's his name? Does he work out? Does he at LEAST have a six-pack or something? What does he DO for a living? I mean, I think you shouldn't marry a guy for money, but you shouldn't be with someone who isn't responsible, what's his job? Are you sure he doesn't ALREADY have a girlfriend--or that he's not already married--hot guys are usually taken, or maybe there's something he hasn't told you?" Kagome sometimes wished there would be one instant when her roommate didn't speak.

"He's a race car driver and I'm pretty sure he's not with anyone else," Kagome replied, though she figured either one was possibly false.

"You act as if you haven't even seen him in person, I mean come on! Give me the deets!" Kagome didn't reply. She fidgeted uncomfortably, wondering if it was a bad idea to tell Yuka about the mystery date at all. "What's going on here?" she asked sharply, "What haven't you told me?"

"I sort of...met him on a chat... This is my first time meeting him face to face... Hitomi totally flipped when she heard I was an hour late picking up her precious children from a friend of hers, so they came back this morning... That's why I'm here already... In an hour I'm going to meet him, we agreed to it yesterday." Kagome couldn't meet her gaze to her friend's, she knew the story was absolutely ridiculous, and she felt blush forming on her own face. It was entirely absurd, hearing it out loud made it feel that much more insane. She watched as Yuka seemed frozen and lacking any ability to react, the she seemed to slowly leave her numbness and enter a stupor, mouth falling agape.

"You...couldn't have..." she murmured, looking at Kagome as if she didn't know her, "...come on Kagome, this is...I mean--this is almost as bad a blind date, only no one as smart as me hooked you up! This guy could be a murderer, or a rapist or some stalker! Maybe if you tell me his name I can at least run a background check on him, I mean--WE DON'T EVEN KNOW IF HE'S HOT!" Kagome almost cracked up, the reaction was even more priceless than she had previously envisioned. "What's his name?" she asked, looking very solemn.

"Um...I don't know it..." Kagome returned, wincing after saying it, preparing for the explosion.

"WHAT?!" Yuka thundered; her hands clenched at her sides, "You don't even know his name?"

"Nope, and for all I know he could be some dirt old man," Yuka shuddered, "some little kid," she then shook her head and was appalled at Kagome laughter at the matter, "some fat middle aged guy, or some psychopathic druggie," Yuka was now muttering disapprovingly now, in addition to shaking her head and shuddering, "or maybe even something worse like a dirty little kid whose a druggie and over weight who also is a murderer." Kagome watched as her friend looked on the brink of fainting and smiled at her, "Well, bye!" she chimed, turning away from her toward the door.

"KAGOME!!" Yuka screeched, causing Kagome to stagger backward, "WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU!!!? WE NEED TO AT LEAST MAKE THE PREPARATIONS!" She grabbed Kagome's wrist cruelly and pulled her to her small bedroom in the cozy apartment.

"Wh-what are you doing?" Kagome stammered, looking a little frightened.

"Okay!" Yuka cried, clapping her hands together in a determined manner. She stood before a rather large trunk in her bedroom, and very quickly set to digging through it rabidly. Kagome took a few steps back as Yuka through several random items behind her such as tanning lotion, sunglasses, hair spray and other necessities. "Here!" Yuka exclaimed, pulling out a small tin box and setting it on her bed. She slowly opened what looked to Kagome to be some sort of kit for police officers. "Item one: pepper spray. If he attacks, spray in the eyes, not the nose. I learned that the hard way when I had a date sneezing on me the entire time..."

"Bu--" Kagome began looking rather startled.

"Item two: tear gas, you never know. Item three: emergency pager, I know its for old people, but if you're shot in the leg, it's a life saver."

"I--"

"Item three: hand cuffs, yeah, if your in a location across town from the police your going to need some way to hold the guy down 'till they come. Course you can't always subdue him enough to get the suckers on which brings us to item number four. Item number four is of course: tranquilizer dart. Item number five: mustard, it does NOT come out of clothes, plus it stings like pepper spray, so if you run out of that, use mustard, but what if the mustard gets on YOUR clothes instead, lord forbid, right? So we have item number 6: club soda, basically the only thing that'll get it out. Course, if it turns out the guy is alright and ISN'T an escaped convict then we have these other supplies..." Yuka leaned over to the side of the bead and picked up a rather large pink handbag. "It even goes with your skirt."

"Um, Yuka..." Kagome began, looking faint.

"Yeah?"

"Um...why do you HAVE this stuff?" she squeaked, unsure if she wanted to know.

"Oh well, remember that weird stalker guy that I used to date?"

"Yeah?"

"Well, he had this other personality that would sometimes try to brutally murder me."

"Oh."

"Then after Eri INSISTED on setting me up on blind dates, I brought this stuff just in case. Had to use it on NUMEROUS occasions and it never let me down. Anyway, for the more casual stuff...we have Item number 1: waterproof mascara, a must have, I mean look at the weather lately. Item number 2: combination lip-gloss and lipstick, it gives you that fruity taste without looking like a junior high student. Item number 3: Tissues, these always come in handy, whether you need to blow your nose or run out of napkins. Item number 4: tampons, you never know when you might get some mini leakage even if you just got done with your period. Item number 5: condoms, well if he's a nice guy, go for it, though, knowing you, you probably won't be needing these..." Kagome glared at her, "Item number 6: make up remover pads, these are a life saver, especially if you discover the light of the restaurant does NOT work with your blush. And finally item number 7: mints, I mean, who wants to stick their tongue in someone's mouth who has bad breath? If he's breath wreaks, give some to him; if you just ate a hamburger with onions, eat some yourself." Yuka promptly emptied the contents of the tin box into the purse that contained that "casual stuff" and held it out for Kagome, who was still giving her a dirty look and made no move to accept the bag.

"Take it, Kagome, you never know..." Kagome was perfectly still. Yuka sighed looking at the ground in a pitiful manner that caused Kagome to roll her eyes, yet feel guilty at the same time, "I'm only worried for your safety, but I mean it's your decision...if you don't I'll under--"

"Okay!" Kagome interrupted, grabbing the bag from Yuka's hands. Her friend brightened.

"Thank you! And good luck on your date! Call me RIGHT away if anything goes wrong. You're cell phone's in there, too."

"But--" Kagome began, looking in her own purse where she though her cell phone was located.

"I--um--had to borrow it." Kagome scowled at her, and put her own purse down, turned around and left the room.

The rain was pouring down without hesitance, it didn't seem as if it was great weather for a date. But rain means staying inside. And staying inside can't be bad...if he's HOT. Kagome couldn't believe Yuka's quotes were plaguing her at this moment, and opened her umbrella hastily as she stepped out of the apartment complex and ran out to the door of the taxi she had arranged that was waiting for her. She flung the door open, feeling the droplets of water penetrating through her sweater's fine stitching. At the moment she remembered wool was a very bad idea when it was raining... Shivering slightly, she climbed into the fake leather interior of the yellow car, shutting the door behind her and setting herself down in the passenger seat.

The water streamed down the window before her as it splattered against it, resembling tiny rivers as it rushed down the smooth surface. "Where are you headed?" the taxi driver inquired of her, hardly glancing at her before looking away, then slowly returning his gaze back on her very much revealed body. Kagome closed her sweater prudently over the tight dress she was wearing.

"The shopping center...the new one, Bright Hearts..."

"Right," he returned, leering at her legs before turning his eyes back onto the rode as he turned on the ignition.

Maybe dressing like this was a bad idea...even when I dress plainly men still cant stop looking at my boobs... She stared down at her knees feeling very awkward and her face heating up slightly, she couldn't think of any better of a place to look, but perhaps it wasn't such a good place to look at in the first place. The rhythmic pattern of the rain seemed to get louder and louder against the taxi roof, and though the slight chill of the dreary weather and the similar sounds of the rain were calming, Kagome could feel her heart pounding in her chest.

It wasn't cab driver that was making her heart thunder inside her. It wasn't the fact she was wearing a dress she was sure was far too short and had far too much cleavage and revealed far too much. It wasn't even the fact that she was sure her sweater would begin to smell because obviously wool smells when it gets wet. Or even the fact before Yuka had even mentioned the water proof mascara she had applied perfectly normal mascara that was sure to run and make her resemble some clown freak from one of those horror movies. She knew the reason why her heart was pounding had nothing to do with those things. And though she'd love to believe it was because perhaps after these shenanigans, she'd be able to live her life, and actually wind up in a sound relationship, she was sure that wasn't it. Somehow, though she knew it was perfectly lacking any sense whatsoever, it was because somewhere in her pitiful heart she actually believed there was a chance that ramenlover9 was who he said he was. That what she had felt earlier was something more than desperation caused by a life hopelessly boyfriendless and lacking in sex. That this could somehow lead to something...incredible...

She should have laughed at herself, she almost felt like doing so. At the feel of her heart only beating faster and faster as the car drew closer and closer, as preposterous as it sounded it was as if she could feel herself getting closer to the meeting place as if it contained some sort of energy of its own. There was this almost sickening sense of hope and excitement bursting up from within her, so many of her senses were acting up very strangely and she wished it would all stop. Everything she heard, it sounded like Yuka's annoying quotes that lacked all possible meaning, and every time she blinked she only saw the things that someone she had never met did to her only in her fantasies, and felt a strange sense of meaning, yet her logical mind saw no reasoning or meaning whatsoever in all of this.

"Here's your stop ma'am." Kagome handed the man a few hundred yen and stepped out of the cab, sure that he was staring at her bottom. Even if she tried her hardest to keep her eyes on her knees she couldn't help glancing at the driver now and then, noticing that he was often gazing at her body. She opened her umbrella immediately as her sweater fell open and she shivered at the feel of droplets crawling down her chest and under her dress. Buttoning up her sweater quickly, she found her brisk walk turning into an all out dash for the nearby shopping center. It then dawned on her they should have agreed on a store to meet, as she figured no one would want to wait out in that downpour... But then she figured not very many people would be waiting out of doors, so perhaps it would make it easier to find him...

She felt her body shaking and reminded herself over and over that it was because it was cold and nothing else, ignoring her heart's persistent attempt to break free of her chest. Her eyes traveled around to her surroundings and she found sign that directed to the main square of the shopping center and she quickly ran over there, trying to maintain a sort of combination between a jog and a walk as not to draw attention to herself. To her dismay the "main square" was as crowded as ever, many people wearing raincoats and clasping umbrellas in their hands as she did. A very heavy sigh escaped her and she was almost surprised by her sadness. But the burning persistence would not smother so easily. Kagome walked around the place hurriedly, scanning the faces of all those people in a frantic search, though she knew not what to look for. How would she have any idea what this "ramenlover9" looked like? She didn't even have a name to call; ramenlover9 would hardly suffice... Perhaps if she took of sweater most people would take a notice to her...he knew she had very large breasts, so perhaps he'd realize it was her. It wasn't long before she began to desperately wish that she hadn't lied about having red hair...

Suddenly, the words "race car driver" met her ears in some casual nearby conversation, and she knew it was crazy but she immediately began heading for the source of the voice that said the words. She soon discovered it was a dark haired man whom it belonged to and could only see the back of his head in the dense crowd, as she pushed people aside in a heated persistence to get to him. There was this explosive need to know, a need to reach the destination, as if her life absolutely depended on it, which, after she thought about it, may very well be true, at least for her love life. She was so intent on getting there that when she was sure she had shoved someone rather hard to squeeze through the thin gaps between people, didn’t even stop, which she immediately felt guilty about. When Kagome had finally almost reached the man, she tore her eyes away from him, spun around and saw the victim of her shoving. All that was visible were a pair of long legs and an umbrella, which concealed the rest of the poor person's body.

"I'm so sorry!" she cried through the persistent rain. A groan escaped who she now figured out was a man and a face emerged from under the black lake, which blanketed him that was his umbrella, which was shoved off with more grumbling. Kagome began regretting that she had pushed him after glancing longingly for the man she had been heading for, then turning back to see whom she had knocked over clearly had demon blood.

"Are you insane? You're even wearin' high heels that don't cover your toes in this weather!" he exclaimed, only seeing her pink stiletto shoes and nothing else.

"I'm sorry..." She said meekly, holding out her hand, and kneeling down to his level. He muttered some incomprehensible things then glanced up at her and looked her straight in the eyes. To her surprise he stumbled backward, looking absolutely dumb founded to see her face. She gasped when he preformed a back flip and landed on his feet, still staring at her, but unlike most men, at her face and not her breasts, which she somehow had the impulse to cover with her sweater before he had gotten back on his feet. His hair was quickly becoming drenched, Kagome had realized, after forcing her eyes away from his, and she noticed he had dropped his umbrella that she got to her knees to pick up. "Here," she told him, beginning to life it toward him. Her eyes inadvertently lay themselves on a certain place she knew she shouldn't have looked, but she hardly felt it was her fault; his tight black jeans did little to hide an obvious arousal. She felt him grab the umbrella from her cruelly as she had zoned out staring and realized with a jolt she had been drooling slightly. Quickly getting to her feet, she looked away from him, her face scarlet, perhaps it wasn't just that odd man on the internet, perhaps she was becoming more sexually aroused as of late--a sort of phase she was going through...but why?

"Well, thanks for nothing," he glowered, turning away, his eyes boring into Kagome's just before they left her. She saw his leather jacket touch to his back then spring away then touch to him again as he walked, falling just above his rear which she also found pleasant to look at for a long period of time.

Well at least now I know I can get turned on by people in real life... She thought. Her eyes stayed on him as he walked off to the wall of a store and leaned against it, crossing his arms and frowning at most people that passed. As if beyond her control her legs began moving and she found herself walking to a stand somewhat near him on fruit, the sound of feet making squishing sounds in the water filling her ears, but the only thing she was aware of somehow was him, and she found herself transfixed by him. Bizarrely enough, she was beginning to consider forgetting "ramenlover9" and talking to this man instead, but she wasn't sure at all about it as he seemed to be waiting for someone else.

Her eyes fell back onto the fruit as she saw his travel around and finally land on her.

Unbelievable...she looks so much like... He knew it was pointless to be in the place at all or even look at the girl that was standing near him. Perhaps he didn't love who he thought she resembled, but this girl was far more beautiful than she was. And the more he thought about it, perhaps it had been easier for him to think he didn't love the woman that he liked to consider only part of his past... But it didn't make any difference, whether he loved her or not. It only made things more painful. Either way, wasn't this girl an entirely different person anyway? But it didn't change the fact he was waiting for someone already. Yet, he pondered over whether or not it mattered, as was perfectly mesmerized by this other person...but could it be that he was simply fooling himself? Afraid of his life's problems and that a possible escape from it all wouldn't work?

He watched as the girl hugged herself, shivering slightly, her breasts pressing together tighter as her sweater fell away from them. He brought his gaze away from her chest and focused on the ripples forming in the water from all the rain drops colliding with the surfaces and melding into them, after a few moments he heard sigh escape the girl. His eyes flew back to her, as he was sure he saw her quickly looking away from him, and shift her legs a little, causing his view to now become fixed on them. It was awkward feeling the area between his legs reacting so quickly and with such extreme excitement, when he hardly felt such things hardly at all, so he looked to her face instead. Her eyes were focused on a newspaper that she had gotten from the stand nearer to him and he nearly jolted when they traveled onto him and didn't move away. He felt his body burning all over the entire period of breathless seconds he simply stared at her and she only did the same. Unable to stand it much longer, he got off the wall and approached her.

Kagome felt rather startled, she didn't ever figure he'd try to talk to her, or come to her, as he seemed to be doing. In somewhat of an anxious frenzy, she put the paper down and began to make a hasty retreat when she heard his voice, "Wait!" She froze and turned almost feeling as if she shouldn't have. He came closer to her and she averted her eyes. "I'm sorry for being such a jerk earlier and–" he stopped feeling disgusted with himself. Since when was he polite? "–well, you shouldn't shove people you know..."

"I'm really sorry about how rude I was...I just thought I saw the person I was going to meet." She saw him brighten.

"I'm meeting someone too..." That was what Kagome had figured and somehow felt a painful sensation at the pit of her stomach at the disappointment. "...but I was thinking that...well..." She found a small gasp escaping her as her eyes accidentally fell on his as he threw his hand motioning for her to shake it, "...I'm Inuyasha..." She stared at him a long time and her eyes fell onto his outstretched hand, getting the strangest feeling that she should not take it and tell him that her name was Kagome. Though she could not fathom why, the strangest idea came to her. It came to her like a prick of the needle quick and unexpected, yet after it was done you felt as if it should have been predicted. After she got over her shock at the revelation, she grasped his hand enthusiastically and smiled.

"I'm bored987."
