He ached all over, that nasty blast from her barrier had really dealt him a lot of damage. He didn’t know if it was the purification or the demonic qualities that did it, but whichever one did one hell of a job.

But the pain didn’t matter to him at that moment. At that moment he was angry and hurt that she had chosen his half brother over him. What had Sesshomaru ever done for her except try to kill her? Well he had too, but Sesshomaru’s score was higher.

Sesshomaru hadn’t been there for her all those times something went wrong, and he definitely didn’t help them by coming and starting useless fights. What did Sesshomaru have that he didn’t?

Of course, maybe it was the fact that he wasn’t there when something went wrong, because he was usually the ‘something went wrong’ in those situations. Maybe she thought that since he had gone to Kikyo, that she couldn’t come to him when she needed comfort, which was totally not true, but what had he done to prove her wrong?

When she had needed comfort before, all he had done was shoved her away saying that she was too weak and needed to learn how take it. When she had tried to comfort or get close to him, he had pushed her away because he was unsure of his own feelings. But these thoughts were not going to get her back and away from Sesshomaru. That’s why he never thought much, it didn’t get him anywhere. Action was going to get her back into his arms and of his brothers.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

He had arrived at the Western palace a couple of hours ago and had been shown to his room. As he lay asleep in his bed, he had been overwhelmed by an immense feeling of despair, regret, and anger. He had been consumed by a white hot pain that seared though his body without mercy.

He didn’t know how long it lasted, but when he ran to the closest mirror to see if his disguise was altered, he was met with an unfamiliar face. This face had blood red hair and blood red eyes with silver and black around the pupil.

His forehead had a red sun, black star, and a blue arrow on it, and his cheeks had three slashes on them, one black one between two red ones. These seemed to originate from delicately pointed ears. Her reached up to touch one when he saw that he had claws. He gasped and revealed fangs.

As he was taking this all in, he sensed something. It seemed that he was connected to someone or thing, but he didn’t know who or what. What he did know was that he felt the sudden urge to leave and go comfort whoever was in distress.

It was like an invisible bond had been forged in his mind and soul and whoever was on the other end was in danger. Not wanting to stick around to see what would happen if he ignored the call, he fled into the night, not knowing where he was going, relying on instinct to get him there.

~*~*~*~

Another figure was fleeing into the night, relying upon scent to get him where he was going. His silver hair glowed in the moonlight as he leapt through the treetops with agility fueled by determination. The scent of sun kissed water lilies was faint but still there. ‘Damn him, he must has flown.’ thought Inuyasha as he quickened his pace.

If Sesshomaru did something to her, he could never forgive himself. Inuyasha was a being of honor, hence why he was in this situation in the first place, and he would be damned to hell and back before he let something else happen to Kagome when he had the power to do something about it.

As he leapt through the canopy, his thoughts flickered to Kikyo, but didn’t linger there. He wondered briefly how she was and if she would follow him, but shook his head. She knew that he was honor bound to her unless she released him, so she need not worry about him leaving. As much as he wanted to, Inuyasha couldn’t be with Kagome like he wanted, but he sure as hell could try.

~*~*~*~

They had landed in a secluded mountain valley that was far form the palace as he felt was necessary. The miko in his arm was shaking uncontrollably and he was having difficulty holding her, but he managed. Once he made sure that they were safe, he let her down on a moss covered rock and spoke to her,”Kagome, we are where you requested. You may do whatever it is you must,” he said as he took a seat on a nearby rock.

Kagome didn’t hear him for she was too busy trying to suppress the force inside her that was trying to break free. ‘What’s... happening to... me?! Why do I feel this way?’ she thought as she wrapped her arms around her shoulders in an effort to calm the tremor that shook her.

Normally, she could’ve taken comfort in Sesshomaru’s presence, but unfortunately, it did nothing to calm her. She needed somebody that she didn’t know, needed someone’s presence that she wasn’t familiar with. She felt an aura tickling hers that called to her, that possessed the comfort she needed, but she didn’t who it belonged to.

A terrible tremor shook her body and she cried out in pain, tears streaming unabridged down her face, the force within her putting up more of a fight. He sat there and watched her in a mixture of horror and fascination.

He wondered how she came to be this way and why, and why he wasn’t the least bit disturbed by it. Well part of him was, but a larger hidden part wasn’t. It was as if he had seen it before, but he couldn’t recall where or when.

~*~*~*~

He was getting closer by the second. As the landscape blurred from forest to a more rugged mountain terrain, the bond that called to him got stronger and stronger.

‘Well, I guess I’ll soon find out what this connection is all about and maybe get some answers to my questions.’ he thought as me approached a small valley that was nestled between two low mountains. He climbed down the slope carefully, his aura sensing for danger, and being almost overtaken by another aura in the valley that getting bigger and stronger by the seconds.

He headed towards where the aura was abased and looked to see who it was. His eyes widened considerably at the sight of whom he apparently had some kind of connection with. On the ground, writhing in pain, was the very miko that had helped destroy him.

She looked exactly like him except fo the fact that she was female and instead of a blue arrow, she had a silver crescent moon. He stared at her on the ground, twisting in pain, her beautiful face contorted with frustration and pain.

The bond in his soul and mind seemed to hum with power and urgency, telling him that the sight in front of him was not right, telling him that he was the only one who could fix it. He cautiously approached her, only to be met with a feral warning growl emanating from somewhere beside him to the right.

He redirected his line of vision until Sesshomaru was visible, his lips curled back into a vicious snarl, his eyes ablaze with fury. His whole stance dared him to go any closer. Despite the situation, he smirked,

Sesshomaru saw this and tightened his grip on Tokijin. “I fail to see the humor in this, or the logic, since you were supposed to be dead. I watched with my own eyes as you were annihilated, yet you still stand, maybe I should try harder this time,” said Sesshomaru as he unsheathed Tokijin.

“Ah it is a pleasure to run into you again Sesshomaru-sama. It’s been a while since we last spoke.”

“Well I don’t want to make it a habit, as you know, I don’t specialize in conversing,” replied Sesshomaru,

He chuckled, “Do throw a fit Sesshomaru, the miko’s safety is my top priority as of now, so no harm will come to her.”

Sesshomaru didn’t trust a word he said, but something about the sternness in his voice or the rigidness in his stance and posture that made him reluctantly, very reluctantly, step aside. He knew that Naraku could not be completely trusted, but for the time being, he let it slide.

Naraku walked forward and knelt down beside Kagome, gazing at her with a new fondness. He gently brushed his hand against her forehead and was met with a shock. He quickly removed his hand, his skin stinging slightly.

‘Apparently this miko or demon, whatever she is, is more skilled and powerful than I originally thought. But I cannot deny the help that I must bestow upon her. Whatever it is that I must do is dangerous.’ thought Naraku as he tried again. This time, instead of touching her forehead, he grasped her hand within his.

A strange sensation, much like someone pulling his soul from his body except less painful, coursed through him as he tightened his grip. Suddenly he and the girl were engulfed in a sphere of red light. Naraku shut his eyes against the glare, and when he reopened them he was mazed.

He was transported to a black plain and a thick gray fog like substance swirled around him and the girl. He looked around and saw nothing but gray. He shifted his gaze back to the girl that now had his hand in a vice like grip.

He watched as her brow furrowed and he instantly felt the bond hum louder than before, and the swirling gray seemed to close in on them. He pulled KAgome close to his body, protecting her for some unknown reason.

The gray mist suddenly parted to reveal a priestess with flowing black hair, dressed in an ancient armor, face set in a stern but soft scowl. She approached them as if they were friends and knelt beside them looking at Kagome, then at Naraku. She smiled softly at him and said,”It is an honor to finally meet you Naraku-sama,” as she bowed in respect.

Naraku had immediately recognized the priestess as Midoriko, and was shocked when she referred to him in such a respectful manner. He looked at her and said, “Wench do not play games with me. If your intent is to toy with my mind then you are out of luck. I refuse to be someone’s plaything.”

Midoriko chuckled as she motioned to Kagome,”Before I reveal too much myself, you must see your past through your eyes or what I say won’t make sense,” she said as she waved her hand and vanished. As soon as she was gone, Kagome stirred and jerked in Naraku’s grasp.

She looked up at him and screamed, piercing his eardrums and apparently her own for she also winced. Her red eyes were filled with terror and unbelief at what she saw in front of her. Though the features were different, she still recognized him as the one she had spent much of her teenage years chasing.

She realized him as the one that had caused herself and countless others so much pain and suffering for his own selfish desires. She was looking into the face of Naraku, and he was looking back at her with concern.

‘Oh god I don’t want to die now! I haven’t even had sex yet, heck, I haven’t had my first kiss or accomplished any of my lifetime goals. Now I’ll never be able to have a family, a job, a house, and I won’t be able to go on that bungee jumping excursion I had been planning once I was done with the Feudal Era.’ thought Kagome as he clenched her eyes shut, awaiting the death blow that was sure to come.

She stayed in that position until her arms and legs got tired and she had to relax. She peered up at him and was surprised to see that he was staring back at her, curiosity and annoyance plain on his face.

“Do you insist upon such annoying antics or do you want to get out of here, because the last thing on my list of things to do is be stuck here with a miko, or demoness, or whatever you may be now,” said Naraku in bored tone.

All of Kagome’s fear evaporated instantly as her anger flared violently. She could take Sesshomaru’s dry wit and sarcasm, but Naraku was a totally different story. She would be damned if she would stand by and let him act this way to her.

“Well excuse me! If I had known that I was going to get stuck here with you then I would’ve purified your ass into oblivion by now!” she hissed as an angry blush appeared on her exotic features. “Believe me being here with you isn’t my cup of tea.” she muttered as she sat up and stretched.

Naraku quirked an eyebrow at her. “Wench you will not speak to me in such an obnoxious way. And I hardly think now is the time to be talking about such frivolous matters as tea,” he said in mock exasperation, a smirk playing on his lips.

She whirled o him, eyes ablaze with pent up fury.”Look you insolent, arrogant, ass! I suggest that you watch your attitude around me because I don’t take rudeness lightly. And if you keep it up, I’ll make sure that I purify you, cell by cell,” she growled as her voice dropped so low it sounded almost male, and very dangerous.

Her pretty features had taken on a dark scowl that would’ve mirrored his own if he had been doing the same at the moment. In fact now that he thought about it, she mirrored him perfectly in almost every aspect.

Her personality was just like his, minus the evil and maliciousness. They were both short tempered, intelligent, courageous, ans spirited. Many would disagree if he were to call himself courageous, but he begged to differ. Though he used deceitful methods to obtain what he wanted, at least he did it.

Many others who wanted the jewel had either went on a blind rampage or just hid the desire deep within their hearts. He had the courage to actually take a well thought out course of action. He had the courage to put his life on the line everyday for the sake of his own power.

He did something about it, which is more than could be said for others sharing the same want. Most everyone thought him as a maniacal psycho maniac who was bent on ruining lives just for the hell of it, but that wasn’t true. He did the things he did for a reason and rarely killed somebody just for sheer pleasure.

He was not so much a monster that he would go on random killing sprees without a purpose. People thought him an emotionless demon who only cared about himself, but that, too, wasn’t true. Many nights, he had spent in restless slumber or awake, thinking.

Thinking about what it was like to have a friend or to laugh and feel joyous, to not have a care in the world. Her wanted to know sadness, joy, disappointment; he wanted to experience a life full of emotion. He longed to have company; someone who wasn’t scared of him, someone he could argue with. He wanted a real life.

But alas, with such a tainted soul and heart, these things could not be possible. But what he wanted most was to experience love. He wanted even more than the Shikon no Tama to be cared for by another. He had started having these cravings when he had first battled Kagome.

Her fiery spirit had touched him and it had cleared a path to his heart and had stayed there ever since. He saw how compassionate she was toward her friends; especially the hanyou. He suspected that she loved him, but he didn’t return the feelings.

For he was still in love with the dead miko who had further betrayed beyond his knowledge. Back when she was with him, Kikyo had been in his bed many a night, fulfilling hie sexual desires. He remembered how she had screamed him name in ecstacy as she reached her peak, pulling her into a pleasure filled void.

Naraku himself hated her through and through, but she was the most convenient and least troublesome. No matter how many times he bed her, he would not have to worry about her becoming pregnant with his child, and though she wasn’t all that good in bed, she was adequate enough to relieve his sexual tensions.

He had known that she had been in love with him for quite sometime, but payed it no attention. Such an unworthy being was not worth his attention. And between the jewel and Kagome, they both took up all of it anyway.

Over the months, he had acquired feelings toward the miko that just grew stronger with each passing day. He knew that he could not love, but he began to doubt himself as the feelings grew more intense.

This continued until he reached the conclusion that even demons were capable of loving and that he was no exception. Though he wouldn’t consciously admit that he loved Kagome, for it would be absurd and bring him nothing but trouble.

So he allowed his desires and needs to go forgotten until he was so sexually stressed that he had to release it on someone immediately. And he had lived this way until now. Now he began to feel that he should stop lying to himself that he indeed did love kagome.

This newly formed bond only served to strengthen his feelings, but he restrained himself from saying anything in fear of rejection. He desperately wanted her to love him as he did her, but didn’t dare risk saying it aloud. He wasn’t anywhere remotely close to being somewhat near working his way onto her good side.

But that would soon change, but now he had to concentrate on getting back to the valley. The girl was their portal and she was the only who seemed capable or willing to try to get him back.

She was furious but it soon faded back into the feeling of restraint. The power within her was once again trying to come out and she didn’t know how much longer she could last against this time. She squeezed Naraku’s hand and he winced in pain. Kagome thought of why and what she did to deserve this and one name flashed through her thoughts like a beacon.

Inuyasha. Inuyasha did this. It was when he was in the room with me and had the nerve to ask me why I left when this first started, when the pain first came. And now I can’t get back. It seems like every time I come in contact with him, he causes me pain.’ she thought as her ire grew.

Naraku watched in mixed horror and worry as she began to glow and suddenly a barrier was erected around them, shielding them from the outside. Inside, Kagome continued to glow and he let go of her hand.

Almost automatically her aura flared and she let out a scream of pain. He quickly grasped her hand again, and his mind and hers flashed.

~*~ A woman lay on a futon in a small hut, her brow furrowed and bead so f sweat running down her beautiful face. Beside her was an extremely handsome demon that held her hand. She opened her moth in a silent scream as the demon winced from the pain of her grip.

Another woman that looked like the one laying down, except not nearly as beautiful, scurried in and lifted the covers up form the end of the bed and peered underneath. She quickly said something to the demon and he reluctantly left leaving the woman and the obvious servant alone in the hut.

The woman on the futon bucked and let loose yet another silent scream as her face twisted in pain and concentration. She fell back onto the futon only to raise back up when another contraction hit.

After about ten minutes of this, the servant had a look of joy on her face as she handed two bundles of blankets to the woman. The woman smiled weakly and took the two babies in her arms. Though she was truly happy, one could not miss the sad expression that blended with the happy one.

Her eyes, though weary, held volumes of sadness and despair as she looked at the two children in her lap. She looked at one and muttered something, and did the same to the other. She lay back on the futon and closed her sad eyes, letting the clutches of sleep carry her into the wonderful and sometimes terrible world of dreams.
~*~

The vision faded and they were brought back to the present, the both of them shocked and confused. Kagome blinked a couple of times before she glanced over to Naraku to see how he had taken it.

He looked at her and took her hand in his, making sure she was real and he was still sane. When she did not fade or turn into a creature with fifty heads or something else strange like that, he breathed a sigh of relief, but did not let go.

She looked at him in confusion, wondering why he was holding her hand and why he hadn’t let go yet. It struck her that he had been staring at her before they received the vision and he was still staring at her, with unreadable emotions flitting in his eyes.

Kagome looked at him and saw him in a new light. She noticed his changed features and couldn’t help but think that he was handsome. ‘I’ve always thought he was handsome, but his actions made me think he was ugly.’ thought Kagome as she gently pried her hand from his.

She wouldn’t deny that he was very attractive, even more so now, but Kagome judged people by what was on the inside before she judged what was on the outside. She judged how pretty or ugly someone was by watching their actions; beautiful people were kind and caring, ugly were cruel and evil.

Naraku may as well have been the ugliest person she had ever met since his actions were so evil and malicious. But once again she would not deny that he was indeed handsome.

‘But looks can only go so far before they wear thin and your heart is exposed for what it really is.’ thought Kagome bitterly as she turned away, breaking eye contact. He had a lot of making up to do before she began to even think about trusting him, so much that he’d probably die before he was done.

Though she could never wish death upon someone, no matter how evil, and she could never hate someone, it just wasn’t in her nature, she could loathe them with every fiber of her being which was just as good to her.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

“What the fuck is he doing with her?!” yelled Inuyasha as he lunged for Naraku who was hugging Kagome at the moment. If he could barely stand to see her with someone besides himself, and hated seeing her with Seshomaru, he went into a uncomprehensible rage filled tantrum at the sight if her with Naraku.

Not knowing what the result would be if the two were separated, he stepped on front of Inuyasha and easily caught him by the neck, squeezing the air from his throat easily. Inuyasha looked stunned but mostly he still looked angry.

“What the fuck?! Why the hell are you protecting him when he doing something to Kagome? If you had any feelings for her at all you’d have done somthin by now, you bastard!” he growled as he struggled to get out of the death grip.

Sesshomaru couldn’t resist the sarcastic remark that was tingling his tongue, itching to be spoken. He smirked,”First of all Inuyasha, I know who my father is and second; he is the only one that has been able to calm her.

I dislike this as much as you do but it apparently is necessary to prevent Kagome from being harmed. And I don’t have any feelings for her, she is my main source for entertainment and if she is harmed, many will be disappointed,” he replied coldly as he gave Inuyasha’s neck and extra painful squeeze before dropping him unceremoniously onto the ground and resuming his position by Kagome’s side.

Inuyasha couldn’t stand being confused, which is what he was at that time, because it lead to thinking and as we all know, Inuyasha isn’t good at thinking. So he asked questions instead.

“Why is she like this in the first place, what did you do to her?” he asked looking at Sesshomaru accusingly. Apparently the blow had messed up his memory.

Sesshomaru sighed and in seconds his foot was on top of Inuyasha’s chest, glaring at him. “Apparently, little brother, you are even more incompetent than I first thought. If my memory serves correct, she was with you when these things started happening, so in theory, I should be asking you why she is like this, not the other way around.”

He did a quick recap and saw that Sesshomaru was right. It was his fault that Kagome was being embraced by his most hated enemy. ‘Why is everything that happens to Kagome my fault? It seems that ever since I met her, I caused her nothing but pain and suffering.’ he thought dejectedly as he stopped resisting the force on his chest.

Sesshomaru saw the change in his character and removed his foot snorting and once again, taking his place by Kagome’s side. He looked at her, feeling an odd sense of foreboding coming from both of them.

The way that Naraku embraced her looked almost desperate, as if she was his lifeline. They were both kneeling and Naraku was wrapped around her from the front and his head was her shoulder. Her head was leaning against his, her wild eyes blank and clouded over.

They both kneeled there, neither moving, even to breath. They seemed frozen like time had simply forgot about them and excluded them from its flow. He noticed that they were identical except for the obvious difference in genders, and the symbols on their foreheads.

He noted that the crescent moon on Kagome’s forehead was exactly like his, only hers was silver. If he had stood away from them, even he would have difficulty differentiating them.

‘I wonder why this is so and why these things are happening now. There is nothing significant about the time and yet all these extraordinary events are occurring. This Sesshomaru will find out why.’

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

He strode down the street, headed towards the bank that was not too far from where he lived. His long greenish- black hair swished behind him as he stepped into the air conditioned building.

He stepped to the counter and a woman with short, straight hair came to him and asked him what he needed. He looked at her as if sizing her up and replied, “I would like to make a withdraw from my account.”

“May I have your name sir?” she asked as she rolled over to the computer and clicked a couple of times.

“Atomaru Yokoshima.”

She clicked again several times and her eyes widened as it dawned on her who this was. She was speaking to the Yokoshima Atomaru, owner of the biggest arms manufacturing corporation in all of Japan next to S&K Industries.

But she didn’t let this affect her much because if there was anything Yuka wasn’t, it was distractable, at least not anymore. She pulled up his account file and asked,”how much will you be wanting to withdraw?”

“$2,000,000.00.”

Yuka scoffed,”That’s quite a large amount of money sir, are you sure?”

He smirked, “Yes, I’m sure. There is an investment I’m planning and the starting bid is two million,” he said offhandedly as if he were discussing the weather. He took the slip and left the bank, smirk firmly in place.

In only a matter of days, he was well on his way to completing part of his plan. He had already studied intently on the human customs of this era and retained as much information as his skills could handle.

In a couple of months, this part of his plan would be complete and he would be able to return to the past and get away from this time.

Now he needed to get back to his temporary house and consult with Sounga about the progress he’d made. He was indebted to the sword for telling him of the Bone Eater’s Well in the first place.

He stepped into the apartment complex and made the way to his building. He walked until he reached to elevator and rang for the upmost floor. He lived in the penthouse that had a great view of modern day Tokyo. He had the money, so why not live in style?

He walked into the penthouse and immediately went to the back room where Sounga resided. After he stepped inside and shut the door behind him, he knelt in front of Sounga.

It glowed,”What news do you bring for me?”

Well this chapter was kinda dull and poorly written in my opinion( I needed to update as soon as possible before school ended) but it does explain a little about what’s happening and why. Hopefully the next one will be better. R&R!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
