Chapter 5,
Day 2: Hope

Souta ran out of his room after hearing a horrendous cry; he immediately dashed downstairs. He could see his mom kneeling on the kitchen floor weeping, as her hands covered her face. He dreaded to find out what had just happened; a chill of fear crept slowly into his gut. “Mom!” No response he called again, “Mom, please tell me what's wrong, and why are you crying?”

Lost in her trauma, grief stricken she could not answer her son; deep down she wanted to scream at the world, as she slowly closed her self off too the human race. However, something was amiss, she did not feel like she lost her baby; she needed proof and not just some news report. Maybe she was just in denial, either way it would eat at her very being, never having closure; furthermore she would not be able to properly bury her daughter. Not caring who was around, she stood up; her legs still weak as she wiped away her cascading tears.

“Mom?” He asked again.

She had heard him this time, turning her head to look at her younger son; the warm glow from her brown hue had died, replaced by cold and uncaring eyes, “What is it Souta?” She remarked callously.

Souta was taken back, never before in his life had he been talked to so insensitively by his mother, she was always affectionate, good-natured, spirited, but now cold, hardhearted, despondent, additionally spiritless. “Mom please talk to me, tell me what happened, is it Grandpa?”

She screamed inside, `Tell him, he deserves to know!' Nevertheless, she could not bring herself to do it. Not even a glance, she ignored her son and walked up the stairs heading for her room, as she heard her son weeping. She did not care at this moment, she just wanted to be alone; just as easily shutting out others she shut her door, with a sounding slam.

Inuyasha came upon the clearing where he passed the recent day, observing the surrounding area with his enhanced eyesight, he growled annoyed that he could not see any caves.
`Maybe I'm not looking in the right spot; where else can I look there really isn't that much time before we feel the wrath of Mother Nature.' He stipulated, sighing he continued ahead, ignoring the bitching of the woman on his shoulder. “Kagome?”

“Yes,” she responded unpleasantly.

“Can you do me a favor?”

“Sure Inuyasha, what is it.”

“Is it possible for you to shut the fuck up?” he shouted. She was truly becoming a nuisance and he was struggling to keep from throwing her down on the ground and leave her there.

“Hmmm let me think about this… No!”

“What the fuck is your problem lady would you rather I leave you here, because sweetheart I can.” As if on cue, another loud roar followed by a hiss in the sky silenced her.

`There is no way I am fucking up this time, no matter how much he is driving me insane, I need to be nice, treat him like a client.' She argued with herself, trying desperately to take a bite, of her soon to be tasty morsel. She watched her food, as if it was the last time she would have a meal, it mocked her, as its wings, flapped up and down from the movements. She growled, `Not only do I have to be quiet, I can't even fucking eat.' She could not help it; she needed to speak, praying that he would not leave her; in her softest voice, “Inuyasha?”

He snarled hearing her again, “What is this time, mouth?”

`Is this his new name for me, not only am I called, a bitch, wench, dragon-lady or sweetheart now he needs to add mouth!' She pondered.
“I am sorry Inuyasha, is there anyway we can take a small break, hanging over your shoulder with my ass in your face isn't exactly pleasant, and not to mention I am really hungry and every time you move or jump, I can't seem to take a bite.”

He chuckled, “Well sweetheart I really don't mind your ass in my face, I am actually quite enjoying the view, as far as taking a break, we can't stop. I don't know when this storm is hitting and from the scent in the air it's extreme, soon you will eat I promise.”
He continued searching around the falls in hopes of some shelter, glancing over to his right he watched her sweet backside bobble with each stride. It was tempting and he needed to touch her and so he did, giving her a playful smack.

“Ouch, what in the hell Inuyasha, stop that!”

He laughed again, “No,” and then continued to spank her again. “Well now I know how to shut you up.”

Her face reddened with embarrassment; however she actually enjoyed the little slaps he was giving her. She never enjoyed that kind of foreplay yet with him it was different.

He was about to give up his search, when he noticed behind the falls, there was a small cave; it was big enough for both of them to fit through. Yet, was it deep enough to escape the rain, he could smell the salt in the air. Glancing up he saw the sky darkening, as he listened to the howling of the wind and the rustling of the leaves from the tall trees. He knew the heavens would open up soon and shed her tears.

He set her down carefully; his groin ached, when she seductively slid down his front side, feeling her firm breasts grace his strong chest. Her arms still wrapped around his neck, all time stopped for the two survivors as they stared into each other's eyes. A drop of rain hit her cheek, descending slowly down her soft face. She quickly pulled away her head tilted to the side hiding her crimson appearance.

“I found shelter.”

Grabbing her free hand as her other hand clung to the food she therefore deserved. He dragged her heading towards the falls. Taking in her surroundings the place was divine, almost surreal something that you only see in magazines, or on television. She had found paradise. The darken skies only heightened the bright green foliage and the birds came back and forth, only to roll around in the dirt from the ponds bank, or to drink the fresh water. Small birds, and large birds it did not matter, they were not even scared when the two travelers arrived. She smiled at the splendor before her, for the first time in a long time, she actually beamed; as she almost wanted to run towards the birds just too see them fly away, only to observe the myriad of colors that would surround her.

Her trance was soon interrupted when a hard yank of his arm pulled her into the darkness of the cavern. She tightened her grip on his hand, hoping that he would not let go, she didn't like this one bit. The grotto smelled stale, she felt the walls of the rocks. Cold and clammy, afraid that there where big spiders in this cave she could not move, paralyzed by fear; stopped her from going forward. Panic began to spread throughout her body.

Inuyasha sensed her apprehension, “What is the matter?”

“I don't like spiders actually I'm very afraid of them and when I felt the walls that is all I could think of.” She said trying hard to be brave, `Great this is all I need, is for him to make fun of my phobia.'

He understood her irrational fear, and led her back out into the light, feeling her ease, “Stay here I am going to gather some firewood and a couple of palms so we have something to sit on.” As he began to turn and leave her, he smiled, “Oh and sweetheart, you may eat now.”

“Bastard,” she muttered under her breath.

“I heard that.”

Her mouth drooled, as her hunger gave way, she could not believe she was going to eat this ray in a primal manner nonetheless. Taking a bite, the rubbery skin was tough and she could not sink her small teeth into the hard flesh. She tried again and yet still nothing. She wanted to scream, as she imagined her conquest laughing in her face. Immediately losing her temper, “You fucking fish,” as she slammed it into the rock.

Inuyasha did not take long to find kindling or a couple of nice sized green mats. He approached her silently wanting to scare her, with a sounding “Boo.” Taken back by her temper as she cussed out the lifeless fish, he erupted with laughter watching her display. “What's the matter isn't it already dead?”

Startled by him, she almost swung around and hit him with her vile dinner, when his arm grabbed her swinging arm.

“I can't eat this, it's too rubbery; my teeth can't penetrate the rough skin.” She pouted, wanting to cry; though; showing that ray with the intention of it was indeed edible.

He sighed; he truly did feel bad for her. Although he could not help but find the irony in this situation, she once again needed to rely on him. A large grin appeared on his illustrated face, the thought of such pleased him a great deal.

“Hold on let me unload the firewood, then will see about you eating that thing.” He smirked knowing that he insulated her on her medium sized catch.

Kagome narrowed her eyes at him when she watched him disappear into the darkness. She wanted to vociferate herself, but she bit her tongue she really did not feel like starving to death. She loathed and reviled having to depend on him.

“Give me that!” He demanded while snatching the ray out of her grasp.

“Huh,” she said startled by his very approach, only to feel the emptiness in her hands.

She watched him use his sharp claws on the white under belly, avoiding the bitter taste of the fish's organs. Handing the soft flesh, she greedily took it out of his hands, like a starving pup, “Don't bite my hands off please, I do need them if you aren't aware.”

She glared at him as she savored the salty fish. She knew she was being rude, however so was he. Hunger weighed out the politeness; she would have to thank him later. The fish was fulfilling, leaving her very satisfied, though she did wish she had some type of sauce for the ray was bland and salty. Other than that it was very suitable for eating.

Then rain soon began to fall from the skies harder, hitting the ground firmly and she ran back into the shelter of the cave. The warm water had already claimed her as her hair dripped at the ends.

“Did I not tell you that there was a storm on the way?”

“Well I wouldn't have been standing out there if you didn't start the fire,” she gasped then covered her mouth immediately. `Oh good going, now he won't make a fire, and you will have to be forced to sit in the dark, cold and wet.'

He grunted, then a small spark flickered from the kindling, she watched him place some dry foliage into the glimmer, soon an orange glow illuminated the cavern. “You were saying," he smirked.

She was grateful for her big mouth not getting her into anymore trouble. “Thank you.”

He smiled, “Your welcome.”

Kagome jumped up from her seating position when a sudden roar slammed into the ground. As the white light flickered in the darkened heavens, the rain fell prompt and incensed flooding the small field quickly. Trees snapped from the pressure of the winds, compelling to their vigor sway.

She watched in awe, never before in her life had she witnessed such a strong gale. Watching as the water from the falls quickened landing into the now inundated pound, with a reverberated splash. So entranced with the wrath of Mother Nature, she did not hear him creep up behind her, placing his arms, around her petite waist tightly.

“You shouldn't be standing,” he whispered in her ear.

His voice was alluring, the deep tone, and his whisper sent shivers down her very being. She didn't want him to let go; she was falling for this man, and falling hard. Fighting her feelings she wanted to push him away. Confusion now entered the game and it made her feel weak, she was not feeble and therefore, needed to will herself and not be another lay for this man. Well until at least she knew more about the handsome half demon.

Fighting her inner turmoil, she found her voice, “Oh and I should be in your arms instead?”

“Hey that doesn't sound like a bad idea.” Scooping her up, he headed closer to the fire and away from the storm outside.

Wanting to protest, she fell helplessly into his embrace.

The tall handsome figure looked over the white marble balcony of his room; the cobalt blue ocean in the background soothed him. His long silver mane whipped in the air violently, as did his white robe, as the strong warm breeze caressed him dancing around his legs, and chest, only loosening the robe, showing off his strong features. Golden orbs glared off in the distance, he did not want to think about the news he received at the airport yesterday. He knew that the police were wrong into thinking that the inedible, that his younger half brother was dead. He knew in his heart that he was still alive; he tried telling the Jamaican police department this though insufficient. He growled, wanting to sue them, yet different country dissimilar laws and since there was nothing they really could do.

His claws gripped the railing tightly, as he cried out a mournful howl.

Rin, awoke, her swollen red eyes, looked around her luxurious room, she saw her mate standing outside, and she felt bad wanting to comfort her love. Having faith, she too hoped that her beloved brother-in-law was indeed alive. Fighting back the urge to cry again, she needed to be strong for her mate. Smoothing out her ebony hair, her big brown eyes searched for her fallen silken black robe.

Pulling the white comforter, she jumped out of the queen size bead. Tying her robe tightly while it hung on her petite frame so as to not to trip as she slowly approached him. The white curtains flew around her, catching the current of wind, while she wrapped her arms around his strong form. “We'll find him my love, I know we will.”

Grabbing her delicate hands, holding on to her, he never wanted to let go, he felt warm inside on how supportive she was to him, `I'm going crazy, everyone thinks this but she doesn't, she believes in me.' A small smile appeared on his gloomy face. He had hope, and she was his needed strength to move forward and find his brother, not to mention he had many powerful friends. “My love, I think its time to pack and head home, I need to make some important calls.

Smiling she embraced him tighter, then scampered away into the shadowy room.

Feeling soft kisses, trail down her neck, she knew that she had indeed lost the war; his mouth was soft and demanding. Her body yearned for his hands to touch her, please her, disappointed when he did not even move them. Tilting her head, giving him better access, he stopped.
`What the hell is he doing, first gets me aroused then quits.' She wanted to get up and run, she couldn't, he still had a death grip on her. She panted with an inner urge. He needed to stop toying with her hormones. She knew that he was aroused she could feel him pressed against her. “Inuyasha?”

He did not respond turning her head, she could see him with his head down, almost as if he was ashamed, for even touching her. His breath deepened, she could see him struggle, but for what, what she that repulsive. She chuckled at the thought, knowing that wasn't the case.

“Are you feeling okay Inuyasha?”

She could feel him loosening his grip, “Get away from me now!” His voice was gruff and demanding.

“Why, what did I do?” She inquired, while quickly standing up.

“Now bitch! Move!” He pushed her away, “I said get away from me!”

She didn't understand, one minute he was coming on to her and now pushing him away; she was not letting that happen. “What the hell is wrong with you, God you're so fickle.” She retorted. She was not going to stand there, for him to belittle her by having sex with this creep just for his sick and sadistic pleasures.

He growled loudly, “So bitch you have problems following orders!”

“Yeah that's right I do, I am not going to sit around, while one minute you want me, then the next push me away, so go fuck yourself, oh and do me a favor, get the fuck out of this cave! Go find another one to sleep in for the night,” she commanded turning her back on him, just the thought of looking at him at this moment made her sick.

Using his demon speed he grabbed her roughly by her arms, breathing heavily down on her neck, he would not let her flee.

“Inuyasha let go of me know before I kick your ass!” She knew it was only a bluff; she needed to try the threat anyway.

He laughed loudly; it was cold and sinister, not like the laugh she heard before. `Who was this person behind her?' Turning her head, to see who was actually behind her, it was the same man as before, red eyes replaced the beautiful gold. Three purple stripes, decorated his cheeks diagonally, Claws and fangs enlarged. She was scared, she did not want to look anymore, and she closed her eyes praying that she would come out of this alive, tears slowly emerged from her eyes, “Inuyasha, what is going on with you, I don't understand, please stop.” She pleaded.

He pulled her closer to his body, nipping at her neck, “What is there not to understand, I'm going to fuck you!”

“What! No, you can't fuck me… you see…” She couldn't spit the words out, trying to find any possible excuse for him to stop this tormenting display.

He slammed her into the wall of the smooth rock formation, bringing her hands over her head. Demanding submission, “What was that you said?” He snarled in her ear, and then began sniffing around her neck, his claws gently raked down her arms, only to grasp her firm breasts.

She gasped, slowly turning around, only to stare into his lust filled eyes; he growled lightly losing his feel on her well-rounded chest. His lips crashed down on hers hard and demanding, she felt lost by his touch. No man has ever made her submit; a part of her hated it while another welcomed the change. She deepened the kiss bringing her arms around his neck, until a thought popped in her head, `He won't respect you.'

Immediately she stopped the kiss, as she saw his puzzled expression, “Inuyasha, I am not ready to go any further with you, and I know you don't want to harm me, am I correct.”

He chuckled in a baritone laugh, almost cynical, yet gentle and warm, “You keep pushing me the way you do, I might consider the only way to shut your sweet mouth is only to take you right then and there, God knows sweetheart, you need it.”

“Why you egotistical no good son of a bitch,” she yelled bringing her hand violently across his face. She stormed away to the other side of the fire.

`That bastard, this time he's the one who fucked up.' She sighed, closing her eyes; she fell asleep trying desperately to clear her mind. She soon awoke to find the same crimson eyes gazing right back at her, she noticed his frown, almost as if he realized that he indeed had said something wrong. “What do you want?”

Lowering his head, he felt shame, closing his eyes he willed himself to say the words that would make this all better, he hoped, “I'm sorry.”

“That's it! You're sorry, what do you take me for, I am not a virgin and certainly not a prude, but I assure you that I am not going to be your personal bust in the nut.”

He pondered, and concluded, she was right. `I hardly know her, do I want more?'

“Goodnight Kagome,” he said as he sat on the opposite side of her, leaning back against the rock, as his legs stretched out he closed his eyes.

“Goodnight,” she whispered as she leaned on her mat using her hands as pillows, as she watched the flames, danced in the shadows from the crackling of the wood as their music. The rain outside soothed her, as the storm died down, with an occasional rumble here and there. She closed her heavy lids, falling into a deep slumber.
