A/n: Sorry for the long wait. I had a hard time with this chapter. This chapter has also been beta'd.
I might not be able to update as prompt as I have been. I'm going back to school…this time my major will be English. Needless to say: I am scared shitless, fifteen years is along time being out of school—and trying to remember Algebra…forget it. LOL. Fortunately, for me classes don't start until the 19 of March. Therefore, I may be able to get a couple chapters out.
Enjoy!
Chapter 28
Lost but Found
Naraku paced readily up and down his stone patio, waiting for his guest to arrive. He wanted to make sure his home was comforting for Rin. He didn't intend on hurting her. His main objective was Kagome, and Rin needed to be in good condition for the trade.
Naraku made sure that they would dine outside on the terrace overlooking the Amazon rainforest. He looked up, watching a flock of what looked like macaws flying overhead. Even he couldn't help but be in awe of their rich scarlet color. He twisted a smile; the ambiance would be perfect, not only for Rin but also for Kagome.
Naraku did not understand how one woman could make him feel this lustful. He could have many women—and has had them. However, this one woman was different. The need for her consumed him, and breaking her spirited behavior aroused him. “She bewitched me,” he concluded. He didn't think after breaking her spirit he would kill her, instead he wanted her to stay by his side, consensually or not.

Rin awoke slowly in the backseat. Her head hurt, so she began to rub her temples gently. `Where am I?' Her eyes widened in realization. Sitting up quickly, she looked around. She was in the backseat of a moving car, and there was a plastic barrier between her and the front seat. She realized she was in trouble when she could no longer see the city and was surrounded by snow-capped mountains. She began pounding on the divider. “Bankotsu? You bastard let me out!”
Bankotsu looked in the rear view mirror and smiled. “Sorry princess, but I can't do that!”
“Where are you taking me?” Rin screamed, still trying to escape the back of the cruiser. She tried to open the doors, but there were no handles. “Damn you!” she hissed.
Bankotsu laughed, “Rin! I've never seen you this upset. I cannot let you out, so calm down, and enjoy the ride.”
“Bankotsu, whatever they're paying you I will double it. Please just release me!” Rin tried pleading with him, hoping that he would comply.
Bankotsu chuckled, “Princess, as much as I'm willingly and wanting to accept your offer, I unfortunately cannot. You see, my boss Naraku wants to meet you. An-”
Rin interrupted him, “How did you know where to find me?”
“Good question. It was by luck. Princess, you saved me a lot of traveling. Therefore, I want to thank you.” Bankotsu smiled, looking at her shocked expression in the rear view mirror.
“When my husband gets back, he will find me!”
“We're counting on it!” Bankotsu laughed. “You'll be released as soon as Kagome is returned safely into Naraku's hands.”

Sesshomaru was anxious, as he began to smell the city life. They were less than a mile away from the city. He could smell the wonderful smells of cooked food, incense, and the stale smell of humans. Of course, he appreciated the smell of the city life just as long as he never has to step foot into that rancid jungle again. He glanced over at Shippo and smirked. That poor kit hated carrying Hiten. He couldn't blame him. That was why he chose not to carry the snake.
Sesshomaru stopped. “We'll wait for Inuyasha here.” Then, he sat down on a fallen log. He began growling when he could hear his brother howling off in the distance. He could not believe he was rutting with his female. Of course, he couldn't blame him. He did the same with Rin when she was in her estrogen-induced state. Unfortunately, Shippo heard it as well.
“Damn Inuyasha! Did he have to do that now? I want to go home and get out of holding Hiten.”
Sesshomaru growled, “You know, Shippo, if you keep up your persistent whining, I will have to arrange Hiten to stay with you.” Sesshomaru quirked a smile. “And, you can interrogate him. I'll leave it all to you, kit!”
Shippo wanted to retort, to at least stand up to this overgrown dog! He growled the best he could do. He was a Fox, not an overzealous dog-demon, who was used to getting his way. Sesshomaru's reputation preceded him. Not only was he a great lawyer but a fearful demon to boot.
Shippo turned around; he did not want to stare at Sesshomaru any longer. He remembered when he was just a child, hanging around with Inuyasha. Sesshomaru always came in and picked on him. Ever since he always held a grudge, and one day he was hoping to best him. So far, he had failed. Nevertheless, he was still a young kit, and Sesshomaru wasn't getting any younger. Shippo decided to be patient. Although, he did smile when he thought of the fearless demon scared shitless on his plane.
Hiten chuckled; they reminded him of him and his brother. He was more the jokester as he saw in the young fox, and Bankotsu was always serious and determined. He laughed, reflecting a memory with some loose woman he decided that he wanted to take home. He didn't expect to run into his brother, and how his brother scolded him about walking away and coming back with some new growth on his most treasured possession.
He laughed loudly, recalling the memory. However, it pleased him more when Bankotsu soon apologized to him later when he fell in love with his best friend's girlfriend and literally betrayed his best friend. Hiten shook his head; he never knew who his brother's friends were. He never cared to ask. It didn't matter. Although, the woman that forever changed him, her name was fresh on his tongue, but he never dared speak her name.
“What seems to be so amusing?” Shippo asked disdainfully.
Hiten looked up at the fox. “Nothing really, you two just remind me of me and my brother, Bankotsu?”
Sesshomaru's eyes widened. `It can't be!' he thought, as his face cringed in utter disgust.
“What!” Shippo spat. “You're lying…there's no way!” Shippo shook his head. Anger filled him quickly; he gave a hard stare to Sesshomaru. Pointing his finger at the elder, he snapped, “You! I carried this bastard's brother!” Shippo felt ill at this point. He was losing it quickly; clenching his fist tightly, he turned his attention to a shocked hostage. “You don't even smell like him!”
Sesshomaru barked, “That's enough Shippo. I'm just as shocked as you are—I assure!” He began walking over to Hiten before Shippo decided to take him out. Of course, he could not let that happen. Sesshomaru couldn't detect any deceit out of the man. Taking in a deep breath, he could smell that Shippo was correct; he didn't have the same smell. He could never forget the scent of that bastard that betrayed his brother in the worst way possible. “Shippo, your assumptions are accurate, but I assure you he's not lying.”
Hiten took a deep breath and looked up at the two angered demons. Bankotsu must have done something to upset them to the point of hurting him to get back at his brother. He refused to let that happen; he would just sit back and observe. “Awe, the nose,” he said as he gently tapped his nose. “I assume you want to know why we don't have a similar scent. Well, Bankotsu's family adopted me when I was two. He's my brother in heart, and whatever he did; I assure you I had no part in it.”
Sesshomaru's head perked up. “Inuyasha is on his way.” He gave a threatening glance to Shippo and Hiten. “Do not speak about this! Do you understand me…not a fucking word!” Sesshomaru growled and outstretched his claws, “Or, it'll be your tongue that'll be removed.”
Hiten raised his eyebrow. `I wonder why he doesn't want his brother knowing.' His eyes widened. `Is Inuyasha my brother's friend?' He would remain silent. It was the best thing for him to do; he really did not want to lose his tongue and was sure Sesshomaru's threat was real. He noticed the fox didn't say anything either but just gave him a hard stare. Overall, he could only assume that he was right. `Why else would they want to keep such a secret?'
The voices of the couple broke the silence that now crept up on the small group. Sesshomaru was seething with anger. He always protected his brother, even if he failed in protecting his heart. He would tell his brother later that Hiten was related to Bankotsu. However, right now would only mean death to Hiten. He needed Hiten alive—for some reason, everything in his being screamed to protect that rat.

The trek was unusually silent as they headed down a steep slope. Kagome ranted excitedly about all the food she would order when she they would arrive at the inn.
Shippo laughed at Kagome's ranting. That was until he felt something sharp dig into his thigh. He stopped then realized that he still had Inuyasha's concealment bracelet inside his pocket. He was also thankful that he didn't have to carry Hiten anymore and looked over at the said human—who didn't even budge. He pulled out the silver bracelet and then turned to Inuyasha, who had his ears down.
Shippo could not contain his laughter. Kagome had been pestering Inuyasha to let her down, and of course, Inuyasha refused. Therefore, for Inuyasha's punishment and their amusement, she did every thing she could to annoy him. He glanced over at Sesshomaru, who just seemed to ignore them, continuing on his path as he pushed the large branches out of his way.
Shippo could not help but also feel excited at the mention of room service and of a sexy feline to keep him occupied. “Sesshomaru, hold up.”
Shippo was pleased when he saw him stop and turn his head, annoyed with halting. “This will only take a minute,” he reassured. Sesshomaru rumbled but complied. Turning towards Hiten, he gave a menacing growl when he could see the man staring at the couple with a slight grin. Shippo didn't like it one bit and decided to vociferate clearly. “You!” he pointed his finger at Hiten. “Will not move…or God help you!” His threat was made known as he proceeded up the steep incline towards the couple.
Inuyasha stopped walking, as he could see Shippo hiking towards them. He growled low in his voice to Kagome. “Okay, I get it. I'll put you down when we're in town, but please save my unfortunate ears from your incisive talk of food. I'm hungry as it is!”
“If you put me down now, I promise I won't talk at all,” Kagome pleaded, as she began to rub the base of his ears. “Come on; I really don't feel like starting my period on your back!” She lowered her voice to a whisper at the last part of the sentence; she could already feel her face heat up in embarrassment.
Inuyasha leaned into her touch, trying hard to fight the arousal that stirred in his pants. “Kagome, you can't talk low enough and not expect my brother to hear you.”
Inuyasha smiled, as he heard her gasp in utter shock. He glanced over at his brother, who just shook his head, and Shippo smirked slightly as he trudged closer. “Shippo, not one word!” he threatened.
“They heard me,” Kagome gasped in utter shock. If her face wasn't already beat red, she was sure it deepened into a nice burgundy as she sunk into Inuyasha's long tresses, trying hard to become suddenly invisible.
Shippo grinned. “Of course we heard you, but not to fear, the only one that didn't was Hiten.”
“Well I guess that makes it alright then doesn't it,” Kagome responded heatedly.
Inuyasha chuckled, “Be careful Shippo. My dragon-lady has a nasty bite.”
Shippo shrugged his shoulders. “If I were you, I wouldn't put your fingers in front of her mouth then.”
Kagome did her best mock growl, “I don't know Shippo. Why don't you find out for yourself?”
Inuyasha chuckled, “See…” Then, he suddenly stopped, seeing his brother's not so amused look. Oh, he knew that look. Dear brother was agitated, and he couldn't blame him. “Shippo, what is it? Sesshomaru doesn't look all to thrilled that we've stopped again.”
“Oh right,” Shippo continued, “I forgot I had this…” Shippo reached deep into the depths of his right jeans' pocket and pulled out the trinket. “I found this on that Island. I wanted to give it to you sooner, but there were so many distractions. I'm sorry.”
Inuyasha could feel his mouth drop; he grabbed his bracelet and was amazed that it was back into his grasp. He'd thought he had lost it for sure this time. The first time he thought it a fluke that he found it in the shallow cove. Now, his best friend had it. He rubbed the silver treasure in his hand graciously.
“Can we go now?” Sesshomaru roared. He just wanted to leave; the bugs were becoming quite the nuisance. He began walking further, emphasizing his point. “Besides, your woman is in need of…”
“Don't you even fucking finish that sentence,” Inuyasha roared. He very rarely swore at his brother, but he was already uncomfortable that Sesshomaru knew what Kagome said earlier.
“Then hurry your unnecessary chatter, then I won't have to finish that sentence,” Sesshomaru retorted. He began walking again. “Besides, I can see the town just behind these trees.”
Kagome's eyes widened with delight. “You can?” she squealed. “Inuyasha hurry up.”
Inuyasha rolled his eyes and thanked Shippo. “You want to walk now?” Inuyasha asked sarcastically.
“What? Hell no,” Kagome repeated. “The sooner we get there the better.”
Shippo laughed heartedly, “Well, you heard the lady.”

The drive seemed like an eternity to Rin. She tried everything possible to get out of her predicament. Unfortunately, everything she tried failed and only earned a laugh out of her captor.
Frustrated and defeated, she had no choice but to stare at the large trees, as they continued down the dirt path. She wondered who Naraku was, but the name didn't ring any bells. Why was he so interested in her, and who was Kagome? She did not want to think that she was some pawn for another woman. The thought didn't settle well in her stomach.
Coming around another bend, she could see a large white mansion overlooking the jungle. She pleaded with the driver once again, fearing what lurked inside the large home. “Please…I beg of you…don't do this!” Nevertheless, her pleas were once again ignored. She could feel tears trickling down the sides of her cheeks.

The smells assaulted Kagome's nose. The food smelt tantalizingly good, and she could not help but stop every time they passed a market or restaurant. Falling behind, she ran to catch up. She was also happy that Inuyasha was back in his human form. It wasn't that she didn't like his other form, but she just smiled, reminiscing the first time they've met onboard the flight. Not only was he downright good looking for a half-demon, his human form was just as equally sexy if not more desirable.
It was hard to imagine him without those cute dog-ears on top of his head, and she did find herself missing his unique features. However, she wanted to have fun in his human form. Therefore, she decided to sneak up on him.
Inuyasha smirked, hearing her stealth-like movements behind him. `So, she thinks since I look like a human, I still have my weak human features.' He held in the need to laugh. `I'll show her.'
Before she grabbed him, Inuyasha turned around and snatched her up. His hold was tight on her waist as he felt her struggle with a fun filled laugh. “But how-” Kagome questioned, “You're human?”
“Sweetheart, I may look human to you, but I assure you that I'm not, and besides I heard you a mile away,” Inuyasha said, as he set her down and entwined their hands together.
Shippo was pleased his baby was where he last left her. “Well, she's all gassed up and ready to go,” he said casually.
Sesshomaru rubbed his brow. “You've got to be kidding me…” He dreaded the flight home. “Isn't there some other means of transportation?”
Shippo laughed, “Afraid not Sess…” He turned to Inuyasha. “Well, what do you think?”
Inuyasha beamed, “It looks good to me.” Then, he turned to Kagome and whispered, “Let's go home, shall we.”
Kagome nodded as he led her towards the large silver plane.
