Chapter 3

Enemy Revealed

Before Kagome could get out of the well Inuyasha had grabbed her and jumped out.

"Thanks Inuyasha."

"Feh" He turned around so Kagome couldn't see him blushing.

"Come on I think we have time to get some breakfast." Kagome said while walking inside the house.

As soon as they walked a very happy Souta knocked down Inuyasha. He wasn't expecting him to come flying in. Even though every time he came the little boy bombarded the hanyou with a million questions.

"Inu no nichan are you going to be staying for a while? Do you want to play video games? Did you beat up any new youkai?"

Inuyasha just looked to Kagome for help.

"Souta, Inuyasha is staying here until I go back down the well. He can play video games when you get back from school. He can tell you stories later." Kagome said coming to rescue the helpless hanyou.

"Ok I'll see you after school. Don't forget." He gave Inuyasha another hug and ran out the front door.

"Why did you tell him I'll play video games with him?" Inuyasha said with a growl.

"Because you're going to play with him when he gets home while I get my work done. I can't concentrate with you always distracting me."

Inuyasha just feh'd and followed Kagome into the kitchen. After eating Kagome went upstairs to get her pack and was about to walk out the front door when she noticed Inuyasha was following her.

"Inuyasha what are you doing?"

"I'm going to that school thing with you. Now that we know that there are youkai around they could attack you and try to take the jewel. You can't protect yourself without your bow and arrow. Besides you might pass out again."

"You can't follow me to school your not allowed in. I doubt that any of the youkai know I have the jewel. I don't feel tired right now. Why do you care so much all of a sudden?"

"It doesn't matter. My job is to protect you and that's what I'm going to do and nothing you can say or do will stop me. I'll just sniff you out anyway." He said in a tone that meant there would be no further discussion.

Kagome thought about it and knew he was right he knew where her school was. "Fine you can come but you have to stay out of sight. Here you'll have to wear this." She handed him a baseball cap.

"Why do I have to wear this thing it hurts my ears." Inuyasha held the hat as if it was going to bite him.

"So, if you do get caught they won't see your ears. Now either stay in a tree or on the rooftop I'll come up on the roof and give you some lunch."

"Fine but it better be ramen"

Kagome just rolled her eyes and was about to walk out the door when Inuyasha scooped her up and put her on his back. She muttered something about being able to walk. Inuyasha just smirked and started toward the school jumping on rooftops.

When they got there he set Kagome down on the school roof and said that if she needed anything to yell for him because he would be in hearing range and if she felt sleepy at all to come to the rooftop and he would take her home.

"Thanks for your offer but I think I can manage." She walked to the door and down to her classroom.

As soon as she got there her friends started asking her questions about her leaving early yesterday.

"Um well I wasn't feeling well and I forgot to take my medicine." `Kami, I hope they believe me." She thought.

"Oh well we were just wondering. Do you feel better?" Asked Eri. She saw her nod and told her that Hojo had been looking for her yesterday.

The teacher walked in and told them to take their seats. While he was teaching Kagome kept wondering who were youkai and who wasn't. It was still unbelievable that there were youkai in her time.

Nothing interesting happened. She went to the rooftop to eat with Inuyasha. They sat in silence while eating. Kagome felt a little uncomfortable now that she could feel the youkai around her. Now she had to be on her guard in her time and on the other side of the well.

Sensing her uneasiness he asked her what was wrong.

"I don't know I guess I still can't believe that there are youkai in my time. It's just a little weird to know there are youkai. I used to feel safe in my time now I have to be on guard."

"Don't worry I'll just kick their ass like I do on the other side of the well." He said acting like it was no big deal.

"Yeah but you have to be careful you can't just go and destroy the buildings around here."

"I'll just have to be more careful."

Kagome just rolled her eyes and started heading toward the classroom. "I'll be done with class in a couple of hours."

Inuyasha just nodded and watched her leave. He laid on his back, hands behind his head and thought ` I have to tell her I love her sometime soon. I'll tell her before we leave for the well.'

Kagome was on the roof waiting for Inuyasha when someone came up behind her and tapped her on the shoulder. She turned around and was about to yell thinking it was Inuyasha when she realized it was Hojo.

"Hojo-kun what are you doing here?" Kagome asked a little curious. She thought no one saw her go up there.

"I saw you standing up here and I wanted to see how you were feeling. I also brought you some remembering tea. I heard you forgot to take your medicine yesterday and had to leave early." He said while handing her the tea.

"How did you hear about that I told my friends not to say anything and none of our classes are near each other. Kagome said a little scared. She told her friends not to say anything and told them in a low enough voice.

"Oh I was walking by your class and I have very good hearing."

That's when Kagome felt it. She could feel his youki and it was none to friendly. She started to back away when Hojo grabbed her wrist forcefully and pulled her closer.

"Higurashi how about we see a movie tonight?" He asked still holding her wrist.

"I can't Hojo-kun my family is leaving today for a while and I have to be home to see them off. Could you let go of my wrist your hurting me?" She was trying to get out of his grasp but he just held on tighter.

He started toward the edge of the roof and held her against the wall. He leaned over a bit and asked again.

"Come on Higurashi I know your family will understand if you told them. You should listen to me I know you know what I am. Were you scared of that dream you had?"

"How did…" Then it dawned on her he was the one in the dream. He knew about the Shikon shards. `Where is Inuyasha how come he isn't here yet.' She was starting to get worried.

Hojo had her leaning over the edge of the roof. One more inch and she would fall off.

"I'm not going out with you and you can't have the shards." She was trying to keep her voice from stuttering.

"You should say yes or my grip might slip and you'll fall. I'll give you one more chance to answer and you better answer it right this time."

"No." She said in a stern voice.

"Wrong answer" And he let her go.

Kagome closed her eyes and started screaming.
