Chapter 5

Lots of Surprises.

Kagome woke up feeling like she was a new person. She felt so good she had forgotten all about what happened the yesterday. She looked at the clock it was 6:00 AM. It was early but she did sleep all night.

`Maybe I should go make breakfast. We can get an early start on the other side of the well.'

She tried getting up but was stopped by the arms around her. Inuyasha was asleep next to her. She had forgotten that he slept with her all night with his arms around her. She tried to get out of his embrace without waking him up.

Inuyasha woke up. Someone was trying to take something from him. He started growling and sniffed. He realized that him and Kagome were the only ones that were in the room. He pulled her closer and nuzzled her neck.

After Kagome got over the nip. She said, "Inuyasha I have to get up and make breakfast. Don't you want to get an early start on the other side of the well?"

Inuyasha just opened his eyes looked at her and sat up. He took Kagome with him. He set her standing on the floor next to the bed where he still sat. She was about to leave when Inuyasha pulled her into his lap and kissed her.

She was stunned and gasped as soon as his lips touched hers. They were so soft. It was like they weren't even on hers.

As soon as she gasped Inuyasha took advantage of it. He searched her mouth. As soon as Kagome was about to respond when he ended it. He looked at her, she was looking at him with a dazed and shocked look in her eyes.

He smirked and said, "Get a move on or I'll drag you back without you getting food in your stomach." He then flopped back on the bed with his back to her.

"Inuyasha?" She said. She was confused and she wanted to know what was going on.

"Go Kagome I'm being serious about leaving without food. You won't get any food until lunch. You can ask your questions later at a different time but not now."

"But"

"Last warning"

Kagome just hmph'd and walked downstairs to the kitchen. She would just have to ask her questions later. She was more hungry than curious at the moment.

Inuyasha heard her making food. He smirked and laid on his back with his hands behind his head. He knew she had a million questions she wanted to ask him. He would answer her questions when he was damn ready to. He wanted to let her suffer for a while.

He went downstairs smelling that the food was done. He sat down at the table and started eating the ramen. He could tell Kagome was looking at him. He looked up at her and she quickly looked away. She had a blush on her cheeks.

No matter how hard she tried she couldn't stop thinking about the kiss. She couldn't keep the blush from coming up when he caught her looking at him. She ate quickly and left to make sure everything was packed.

They were in the well house when Inuyasha took her backpack grabbed her waist and jumped in. When they were on the other side he jumped out and set Kagome down. As soon as she was going to walk to the village Inuyasha grabbed her arm spun her around and kissed her again on the lips.

She was caught off guard when Inuyasha kissed her. She again was so surprised she gasped against his lips. He again took advantage of the moment and deepened the kiss.

She had just started to respond when he smelled someone coming. `Damn kitsune.' He thought. As soon as his lips left hers the kitsune had jumped onto her knocking her down on the ground.

"Kagome?" Shippo asked. "What's wrong are you ok?" He thought maybe there was something wrong because she had never fallen when he jumped on her.

Kagome was just about to answer him when he was lifted off her stomach.

"Damn runt what the hell did I tell you about jumping on her?" Then he bopped him on the head.

"Its ok Inuyasha I don't mind he just caught me off guard." She then got up and picked Shippo up and asked him about what he had been doing while she was gone.

"Feh" He said and followed her to the village.

They had finally arrived at the hut when they heard a slap. Sango had a dangerous look in her eye and Miroku had a red handprint on his face. Sango saw Kagome and ran up to her. Sango needed a bath and asked Kagome if she would join her.

"We'll be back after our bath and then we can head out. Why don't you guys discuss shard rumors while we're gone. And Miroku-sama if you want to be conscious for today I suggest you stay away from the hot spring." With that said they left with their bathing supplies.

"So Inuyasha why did Kagome come back a day later. You were with her weren't you?" Miroku had a lecherous look on his face.

Inuyasha just hit him in the back of the head and said, "Shut the fuck up bouzo, something came up in her time."

"So are you going to tell me what happened or let my imagination do its work?"

Inuyasha sighed, today was going to be a long day. He then started to tell him what happened. He left the sleeping together and kisses out of the explanation.

At the hot springs a similar conversation was being held. Kagome had just explained to Sango what had happened in her time. She also left out the sleeping together and kisses out. She was too confused and talking about it to someone other than Inuyasha might confuse her more.

When they were done with their bath they got dressed and headed toward Kaede's hut. When they got there they sat around the fire pit. Inuyasha was sitting at the entrance with his back against the wall, Sango was sitting across from Miroku, and Kagome was sitting facing Inuyasha with Shippo on her lap.

"Well what rumors have you heard?" Inuyasha was starting to get aggravated. They had wasted enough time already.

"We have heard of a rumor in a village that's about 3 days from here." Miroku said finally acting serious.

"Let's get going. I don't want to waste anymore time."

Everyone then said goodbye to Kaede and started walking north. Inuyasha set the pace fast. The only time they had stopped was when they had lunch and even then he was still rushing them. He wanted to make to the village nearby before it got to dark.

As soon as they got to the village Miroku had started his `there is a dark cloud surrounding your inn' act. As usual it put them up for the night.

Miroku was `cleansing the inn of evil spirits' while Sango and Kagome cooked. Inuyasha was watching them while Shippo was asleep on Kagome's sleeping bag.

Kagome couldn't stop thinking about Inuyasha. Why was he doing this? She thought he loved Kikyo? He wouldn't have kissed her if he still loved her would he? `No he would never do that' She was going to go insane if she didn't figure out what was going on.

They had all eaten and were getting ready for bed. Sango was on a futon across the room from Miroku. He was at one wall while she was on the opposite. Kagome had her sleeping bag set up by the wall across from the door with Shippo and Inuyasha was leaning against that wall.

When every one was asleep but Kagome he stood up and walked to her. He laid down with his arm around her waist like he did the night before.

Kagome was about to say something but he nuzzled her neck and nipped at it. She was seriously getting tired of the little bites he gave her. She then felt him tense and turned around to look at him.

He just got up and cracked his knuckles. "Wake Sango and Miroku. Tell them to be quiet and get their weapons ready. Get your bow ready too."

"Why what's wrong?"

"Just do it." He barked.

Kagome did as she was told and got her bow and arrows just as a youkai slammed in the room knocking down a wall. He almost looked human. If he didn't have pointed ears or glowing red eyes he could pass as one.

He had a traditional kimono on it was similar to Sesshomaru's but his was different colors. It was all white with gold trimming and had green vines all over it. He had long brown hair that went just past his butt.

He was looking around the room as soon as the dust disappeared. He then looked at Kagome. He looked her up and down. Kagome saw him do it and shivered. She did not like the look he was giving her.

Inuyasha saw what he was doing and stepped in front of Kagome with a transformed tetsusaiga.

"Hand over the woman and the Shikon shards hanyou." He spat out the word with disgust.

"Who the hell are you to tell me what to do you bastard?" Inuyasha was getting pissed. No one was getting Kagome or the shards.

"I am no one you need to know about. Now do as I say and hand them over if you want to live."

"You're not getting anything."

"Fine I guess I'll have to do it the hard way." He then lifted his hand and a vine shot from it and went under the floorboards of the inn. They then shot up in front of Kagome and wrapped around her arms making her drop her bow and arrow.

"Inuyasha" She screamed. The vines were wrapping around her body so that she couldn't move.

"Hiraikotsu" Sango had thrown her weapon at the vines coming from the youkai. It cut off but the vine did nothing.

"That won't work. The vines are just going to hold her down unless I command it to do something different."

Miroku was chanting and trying to get the vines to stop their hold on Kagome while Sango was trying to cut them away with her katana.

Inuyasha lunged at the youkai. Every time he tried to hit him he dodged it. The youkai was fast, really fast. The youkai had sent out another vine and hit Inuyasha with it. Inuyasha felt the vine go through his left shoulder and cut it with the tetsusaiga.

The youkai sent out another vine through the floor and caught Sango and Miroku with it. They were being wrapped in the vines. They were slowly losing consciousness as the vines were getting tighter and tighter.

"What's wrong? Are you mad that I hurt your little friends? Don't worry as soon as they die you can join them. Then I'll take the jewel shards and the girl."

"What do you want Kagome for?"

"Oh is that the miko's name? I had heard about a group of travelers searching for pieces of a precious jewel. I had also heard that one of the females in the group was a miko who could see the Shikon shards. So I figure if I take the girl her power can be of use to me." He then let out a laugh.

Little did he know that while he was talking to Inuyasha, Shippo had used foxfire on the vines that held Kagome in place. She then picked up her bow and arrow and shot it toward the youkai.

The youkai had been hit in the leg. For some reason he couldn't move. His leg wouldn't respond.

"What the hell did you do you bitch?" He let vines shoot out of his arm once again. But this time they weren't going under the floor, they were heading straight toward her.

Seeing as how there was nothing to do she yelled, "Inuyasha there is a jewel shard in his right hand."

Inuyasha saw that the youkai was distracted and cut the youkai's hand off. He then thrust his sword into his chest. The youkai then dissolved leaving the shard behind.

Inuyasha picked up the shard and turned around. Sango and Miroku were gasping for air as they fell to the ground. He then looked to Kagome remembering the vines going toward her. Shippo was laying next to her crying.

"Shippo what happened?" He asked as he put Kagome in his lap checking for injuries.

"After she told you where the shard was she threw her hands in front of her and let out a shield. The vines reflected off the shield and then she collapsed. What's wrong with her? She didn't get hit or anything."

"Kagome-sama is indeed getting stronger. The shield she threw up must have taken a lot out of her. She will probably sleep for a while remember Kaede told us this would happen." Miroku said.

They had talked to the innkeeper and he let them stay in another room. He was grateful that they had gotten rid of the youkai. Even though one of his rooms were destroyed because of it.

They were all sleeping in the new room. No one had that bad of injuries. The worst was the small hole through Inuyasha's shoulder. He said it would heal so they didn't have to bandage it.

He had Kagome in his lap. She was sleeping peacefully. He let out a yawn and leaned against the wall drifting to sleep. He was only half asleep still tuned to the dangerous world around him.
