Chapter 10

Another Interruption

Kagome woke up early in the morning. She was hungry. She hadn't eaten the night before. She felt a lot better. She wasn't tired anymore. She looked around and everyone was still sleeping.

Inuyasha had rolled over during the night so all she had to worry about was Shippo. She took him out of her shirt and put him in Inuyasha's arms. She knew no matter how much they fought. Inuyasha thought of Shippo as his son and Shippo thought of Inuyasha as his Otou-san.

She got up and started cooking breakfast. She then thought the inn they were at was familiar. Then she recognized it. It was the inn they were at last time they traveled.

Inuyasha could smell the food. He knew Kagome was up. But wait, if she was awake who was in his arms. They were very small. He then opened his eyes and looked. It was Shippo. He was wondering how he had gotten there.

"I put him there. If I didn't he would've woken up." She smiled at him and then went back to cooking.

Inuyasha just got up with Shippo still in his arms and nodded. He took a seat next to Kagome.

"I'm guessing you feel better since your up and cooking." He asked.

"Hai." They then heard Sango and Miroku get up. They looked at Kagome then to Inuyasha.

"What the hell are you staring at?" He yelled.

They just waved their hands defensively and shook their heads. They knew if they made a big deal about Shippo he would get in a bad mood that would last the whole day.

Shippo woke up from the loud noises and looked up at who was holding him. He then just snuggled against Inuyasha and went back to sleep.

Inuyasha just looked confused he looked at everyone.

"It seems that Shippo thinks of you as his Otou-san no matter how mean you are to him." Said Miroku.

Inuyasha just looked at the little kit. Sure he thought the runt was ok but he never thought that Shippo thought that way. He might have gone a little easier on him.

They all ate and thanked the innkeeper and started back on the road again. Maybe this time they would make it to their destination this time.

They had walked for a while when all of a sudden a youkai popped out. He stood in front of the group. He was about six feet tall. He was really skinny. He had a yukata, which had a bloodstain on the front. The yukata was gray and it was too short for him.

Inuyasha pulled out the tetsusaiga and asked, "What the hell do you want?"

"I am Ina. Hand over the miko and Shikon shards and I will let you live."

That sounded very familiar. That was what the last youkai had told them.

"Yeah right as if you could have them. What do you want her for?" Inuyasha barked.

"I was told that if I bring him the miko alive then I could have the shards she carried."

Inuyasha was getting pissed. "Who in the fuck told you that?"

"I do not know his name just where to bring the girl. It seems as though you all want to die. No matter I will finish you quickly."

Inuyasha blocked the youkai's hit while Sango and Miroku got in front of Kagome. They were waiting for a chance to hit the youkai.

"Kagome-sama does he have any shards?" Miroku asked.

"Hai, there is one on the back of his neck." She said.

"Ok" He then yelled to Inuyasha, "Inuyasha there is a jewel shard in the back of his neck."

Inuyasha then tried to cut his head off but he moved. Ina was very swift and graceful. He had jumped away when tetsusaiga was about an inch away from his neck.

"You'll have to do better than that." He said while dodging another blow. It seemed as though he was just playing with Inuyasha.

Inuyasha then brought the tetsusaiga down on his head but only hit the ground. He looked around for him but couldn't see him anywhere. It was then he jumped out of the ground and sliced him up the stomach with his claws.

Inuyasha fell back and clutched his stomach. The cuts weren't too bad, just a flesh wound.

"Ha all that time and you haven't even laid a finger on me." Ina laughed.

Inuyasha got pissed and used his blades of blood attack. It hit him in arms and legs. He kneeled on the ground. Inuyasha took the opportunity to swing the tetsusaiga at him. Ina saw what he was going to do and tried to dodge it.

He got cut in the stomach. If he hadn't dodged it he would've been cut in half. He then didn't think it was worth the shards if he was going to die. He hit Inuyasha out of his way and shot a beam at Sango, Miroku, and Kagome.

They had run in different directions. Sango and Miroku went to their right and Kagome ran to her left.

Ina ran up to Kagome and lifted her off the ground by her neck. "If anyone comes near her I'll snap her neck."

They all stood there trying to think of a way to get to her before she suffocated. They were starting to panic.

Ina just smiled and looked at her. "I'm going to enjoy watching you die. I don't care about the shards. You can thank your hanyou for that."

Kagome didn't know what to do. She would die if she didn't do anything. They couldn't help her unless they wanted to get hurt.

Kagome then put her hands on his to see if she could get it loose when a blue light came out. It was purifying him. She then put her hands and on his chest and instinctively let the magic flow through her hands.

They all watched what was happening in front of them when all of a sudden there was a blast and Kagome was sent into the air. Inuyasha jumped up and caught her.

As soon as the smoke cleared they walked over to where Ina was standing. He wasn't there anymore. All that was left was a pile of ashes and the Shikon shard. They all looked at Kagome and stared at her.

She just stared at her hands. She didn't know how she did it but she did. She got out of Inuyasha's arms and walked over to the shard. She picked it up and put it with the others. She smiled at everyone and collapsed.

Inuyasha ran up to her and picked her up. She must have tired herself out. No one had seen Kagome do that before. Inuyasha saw her do it once when he first met her but it wasn't nearly as strong as it was just now.

Shippo just ran up to them from his hiding place with Kirara and jumped on Kagome. He was crying. He didn't think she was going to make it. He was so relieved.

"Maybe we should just make camp here. It's already getting dark." Said Miroku.

Sango then noticed a hand on her behind and slapped Miroku. "Now is not the time Houshi-sama."

"Ah so then we can continue this later then?" He asked lecherously.

"You know what I meant." Sango said.

"Oh you didn't want anyone else to know? I'll just keep it quiet then." He said

Sango just hit him with her weapon.

"Just get camp set up bouzo." Inuyasha said.

"Hai." Miroku said.

After they gotten camp ready they all ate. Kagome then woke up as they were about to get go to bed. She still looked tired.

"What's wrong Kagome?" They all asked at the same time.

Kagome blushed "I'm just a little hungry that's all." She looked down at the ground.

"I can just reheat the meal we made earlier. We didn't know when you would wake up so we saved you some." Sango said.

"Arigato Sango." Kagome smiled at her.

"Should we head back to Kaede-sama's again or shall we continue our journey?" asked Miroku.

"We can keep going. We'll never make it to the village to get the shard if we go back to Kaede's village." Kagome said.

"But Kagome-sama you need your rest." Miroku said.

"It's okay. We can go. We need to get that shard before someone else gets it."

"Kagome-chan could just get on Inuyasha's back or ride on Kirara if she's tired. She's right if we go back we'll never get the shard." Sango said while handing a bowl of soup to Kagome.

"We could do that if it's alright with Kirara and Inuyasha."

Kirara just mewed. Inuyasha just said, "I'll do it but the moment you don't feel up to it we're going back. Don't walk if your tired tell me and one of us will carry you. Got it?"

"Hai." Kagome said. After she finished eating she fell asleep in her sleeping bag with Shippo under her shirt and Inuyasha with his arms around her.

One by one they all fell asleep. As usual Inuyasha was the last one to drift off. He wanted to make sure everything was all right. He kissed Kagome's forehead and went to sleep still alert to the world around him.

Kagome was once again in a dark place. Even though she had been there before in her dreams she was still a little scared.

"So Kagome that little youkai failed to do its job. You finished him off nicely."

Kagome turned around she knew who it was. "So it was you who sent him."

"But of course. I had to punish you for trying to send that little wolf after me." Hojo said.

"I can't help what he does. You didn't hurt him did you?"

"No I lost him why is do you want him gone? I can arrange that you know. His annoying claim on you is starting to get on my nerves."

"Onegai leave him alone. Kouga-kun is my friend."

"Fine I'll leave him alone for now. I may have to hurt him if you send someone else after me. They can't hurt me but it would be annoying to have to fight something that weak."

"I didn't send him after you though."

"I won't listen to your lies. Since you took care of that last youkai so well I'll let it go this time."

"What are you talking about punishing I'm not your daughter?"

"Oh but it is the way of mates. If your behavior is not up to my standards then I have to punish you. You are not to disobey me."

"I'm not your mate and I never will be."

"Kagome what did I tell you about lying. I shall send something to you when you wake up so you can be punished even if I am not near. I always know what you are doing so be aware."

"What are you talking about? That's impossible to do that. Inuyasha won't let you near me."

"That's two. I would stop if I were you. You'll find out when you wake up. Ja ne."
