Motherly Persuasion

“Kagome!” she heard the dreaded voice call from the front door.  The young miko sweatdropped.  Oh, you have got to be kidding me.  She glanced out her bedroom window.  Yep, it was still snowing.  It was the wet, slushy kind of snow that soaked you to the bone if you were foolish enough to go outside.  There was at least eight inches of it on the ground from last night, and the storm was still going strong.

“Kagome, let’s go!  Time to go back!”

Kagome groaned and laid her head on her desk.  It probably wasn’t snowing in the feudal era, but she was sure it was cold; the seasons matched up between the two time periods, if not the actual weather.  The thought of going outside at all today was incredibly unappealing.  But unfortunately, unless she could persuade Inuyasha to grant her another day in her time, that was exactly what she was going to do.  Slowly she rose to her feet and trudged down the stairs, prepared to accept her fate.

She found her mother hovering around a fairly frazzled-looking hanyou.  He clearly wasn’t used to being fussed over.

“Oh, you must be frozen, dear!”

“Nah, the cold doesn’t both—”

“Your clothes are cold and wet!  Come inside and we’ll run you a hot bath.”

“No, that’s—”

“Your bare feet must be frostbitten!”

“Hanyou don’t get fro—”

“And afterwards, I’ll give you a bowl of hot soup.”

“Well…”

Mrs. Higurashi didn’t give Inuyasha any more time to deliberate, as she literally dragged him inside the house.  She flashed Kagome a wink as they passed, and the miko grinned.  Her mother was officially awesome.  Inuyasha would warm up, and she wouldn’t have to go out in the cold.  And that was a win/win in her book.
