Kagome started to shake, and tears poured from her eyes. How could this be happening to her? Why? After 5 and a half long years of being in captivity, she was out of Naraku's grasp, but now this-this nightmare had to happen. She could not control her own dreams, and what ever happened in them came forth in reality. How could this be happening? Kagome clasped the sheets that covered her in a deadly grip before screaming to hell's overhearing ear. She could never escape him, and she even feared that he would forever haunt her even in the underworld. Sobbing soon over took her, as she cried out her pain, and forever confinement. Shizuri could only watch in horror as blood dripped from her neck, and was soaking her white kimono, as she screamed her misery out loud. Shizuri was shocked by the blood and vaguely wondered how she had gotten hurt, when she had been here the whole time. Reaching out with gentle hands, she pulled the sobbing woman into a tight embrace, letting her soak her shoulder with her tears.
As she let her cry, Shizuri's eyes wondered to where the crimson cloth stuck to Kaoru's neck. Bringing a hand to the spot, she pulled the sticky cloth away to reveal two puncture marks on her neck. A loud gasp left her lips, and before she could stop herself she had pulled back from the embrace, and stared fearfully in her eyes.
"Y-you're m-mated to a Y-youkai" Shizuri stated with a shocked voice.
Kagome couldn't bring herself to raise her eyes; she instead began to rise, getting ready to leave. As she stood and headed for the door, Shizuri grabbed her wrist, halting her steps.
"Kaoru, I didn't mean to offend you, I am sorry if I have. I-it's just t-that..." Shizuri paused stumbling over her own words. "He…" Before she could finish, Kagome nodded her head and spoke lowly and shamed. "Yes, he did indeed raped me and marked me as his. After being imprisoned for eight weeks, he found me almost dead, so tossed me in the woods for the wolves." Kagome couldn't bring herself to say anymore, and collapsed to the floor, in a limp mess. Her thinning ebony hair hung over her shoulders, and her bangs covered her eyes, while the kimono she wore hung loosely around her ghastly thin body.
"I-I'm so sorry." Shizuri offered in sympathy.
"If you wouldn't Mind I wish to be alone." Kagome spoke, rising to her feet and walking on unstable legs towards the door.
"Do you need any help?" Shizuri asked running to her side, waiting for an answer.
"No, but I appreciate the offer." Kagome hollowly answered, leaving the hut. Shizuri felt like suck a baka for acting the way she did. The woman could not help the fact that a youkai had taken her unwillingly as his mate. With a sigh, she went back to her work, every once in awhile peering outside at the tiny figure of a woman, standing on the hill top.
Kagome could only stare at the full moon, her eyes dulled and lifeless still. Her gaze was disrupted though, when Kagome felt something wet drip down her thighs. Afraid to find out what it was, she brought her hand to her kimono and parted it slowly. Moving her hand in-between her thighs and to her womanly area's, she dipped her fingers in the wetness. Removing her hand from her kimono, she brought her shaky hand to her face to she fingers coated in blood. This was even more proof that what had happened in the dream would be the after result in real life. Kagome lowered herself at sat on the hillside, watching as the moon soon faded and the sun arose to the awaking world. She had been there for hours and never once did she notice the commotion that went on from behind her back at the hut.
**********
Shizuri had watched the woman the whole time, her watchful eye on her just encase anything were to happen. When the sun had finally risen, Shizuri saw as the daily men came for their visit. Shizuri noticed though that Rei was not with her father this time, but shrugged it off.
"Hello, may I help you?" Shizuri greeted with a smile and a bow to the elder gentleman.
"Fair greetings, Shizuri. How is the young woman today?" Ryou, questioned of course.
"She is not well, her energy has strengthened, and her she is now able to walk and speak softly, but it seems that there is more to her then first thought." Shizuri explained to them of her witnessing the mark on her neck, and what the girl had told her. When she had finished, she waited for what they would say. Norito had a disgusted look on his face, making Shizuri think that he held disgust in the youkai that had defiled the woman, but was very shocked when he spoke.
"She must leave this village!" Norito stated firmly. "She can not stay here, for if what you said is true we are all in danger! I will not risk our village for the safety of that woman!"
"Have you gone mad, Norito! Do you even know what you're saying! You can not kick her out, she has no where to go! She will die! She has yet to fully recover, and now you wish for her to leave!" Shizuri screamed in outrage.
"I will not stand idly by, and wait for the destruction of my village! That youkai will come for her and he will destroy our village! Do you wish for this, Shizuri?" Norito seethed.
"But Norito-"
"No buts Shizuri, I will give her till nightfall; then I come for the girl and get rid of the evil that will come our way if she stays!" Norito informed her, turning on his heels and leaving no room for argument.
Shizuri was enraged! How could he be so caring of the girl, then next minute you know, he's kicking her out of the village. How cruel fate could be. Shizuri hoped to god, that Norito would come to his senses and realize what he was doing.
When Kagome came back she could feel the tension, and rage that was pouring off the woman, but paid it no mind. As she sat on the steps, watching the day go by, she noticed the snide and disgusted looks she was getting. She couldn't understand what she had done to receive such looks, but no longer did her heart or soul care anymore. She was nothing more but a walking corpse. When nightfall came, Kagome was about to go inside, when a harsh and demanding voice called out to her.
"Halt woman!"
Kagome turned around to see a group of people standing around the hut with torches, their heated glare all tossed at her. "What do you want of me?" She questioned in her strained voice.
"You are to leave! We don't want the bitch of youkai in our village! Leave whore!" A man demanded; his torch thrust at Kagome's face.
At that time Shizuri ran out of the hut, and took a defensive stance infront of the girl known as Kaoru. "Please Norito; I beg you don't do this!" Shizuri pleaded with him.
"No, let him, I will not be a bother to this village any longer." Kagome replied, lowering her head as she strained to keep the tears from falling.
Shizuri just ignored what she said and continued to fight for her, "Please!" Norito had finally grown annoyed with her, and took matters into his own hands. Sending two men forward, they shoved Shizuri out of the way, and grabbed Kagome by the wrists, harshly tugging her away from the hut. Bringing her to stand infront of Norito, he gave her a sneer before say lowly so that only those close enough would hear, "You have been welcomed her long enough. I bid you fair well on your journey ahead, but you are banned from this village forever."
After speaking this him and two other men escorted Kagome to the dark forest, dropping her off faraway from the village she had come from. When the men had left, Kagome no longer wanted to cry, for she no longer could. She felt as if her very soul had left her, and that she was nothing but a shell. Taking one last look back, she headed forward into the dark forest, not knowing what awaited her there.

They had been walking for days and had yet to come across a village. Inuyasha was quiet as always, and rarely spoke since the accident. He hadn't even picked a fight with Shippo for a good long while, and Shippo himself rarely spoke as well. Miroku and Sango grieved over their friend's loss, but neither was affected as badly as Inuyasha and Shippo. They had begun to worry when Shippo refused to eat, a couple days after finding 'her' body. Shippo grew thin, but finally after some coaxing he came around. He still wouldn't eat that much, and never smiled nor played with any of his disregarded toys. Inuyasha became more violent at the mere mention of her name, but never once striked one of his friends out of rage. A few times though they could have sworn Inuyasha was going to transform, and kill them all, but he had calmed enough for his raging youkai blood to cool. They had barely took leave from hunting down Naraku and the jewel shards, and Miroku and Sango, especially Shippo were beginning to wear from it.
Inuyasha stopped in his tracks, lifting his nose to the air and sniffing around. His whole body went tense and ridged, when a scent hit his sensitive nose. Shaking his head, his tried to convince himself that the smell was nothing the same. When he took another sniff, he analyzed the scent. Once giving it a long sniff he determined many things different about it, and set it aside. Coming back to his senses, he just managed to hear the group behind him ask what was wrong.
"There's a village up ahead, we can camp out there tonight." Inuyasha answered with his gruff tone as always.
Miroku shrugged his shoulders at his friend's odd behaviour, and continued onwards following his friend to much needed shelter. As Inuyasha walked into the clearing first, an enraged voice met his ears. Listening he looked in the direction it came from.
"You ASSHOLE! I hope you burn in hell for doing that! I can't believe you would send her off like that! She will die out there! She would barely walk as it was! Do you honestly think she could have stopped it from happening! It wasn't her fault and you just sent her out there to die because of it! You're despicable!" Shizuri growled out in hatred, her voice raising considerably every word she spoke.
"She had to go!" Norito yelled back, "She would have brought this village great evil! Would you have liked to have watch your village burn! It was for the best; for the safety of this Village!"
Shizuri had, had enough. With a fierce growl, she struck the man hard. Norito was stunned for a couple minutes before he simply growled and left. With her raging blood, she stomped away from the site.
Inuyasha was shocked by what he heard, and he was sure his friends were two. The yelling was loud enough for anyone to hear for a good mile. They had sent some girl out into the woods to die? But why? What had happened that caused the man to do such a thing? Miroku took lead from here, searching for a place that they could stay at for the night. As he got further into town, he saw as a woman stomped off to his right into a hut. By the looks of it she had been the one who had yelled at the man for his cruelty. Deciding that maybe she would help them out, he moved to stand on her step, and knocked on hut.
He was slightly surprised when she snapped back the tatami mat, and offered him an angered, "WHAT!" Shizuri immediately regretted her actions, when an unknown monk greeted her. Taking in a deep breath, she was about to speak when he bowed to her and beat her to it.
"I am sorry with I came at a bad time, But me and my comrades have been travelling for many days, and needed a place to stay for the night. I was wondering with you could offer us your assistance." Miroku explained to the middle-aged woman.
When Shizuri heard him say 'us', she looked to his side to see three approaching figures. Giving him a bow she had now calmed enough to speak, "There is no need to apologize, for you are not the cause of my distress. Now please if you and your friends will join me inside so that we may speak."
Miroku bowed his head in thanks, and singled for his friends to follow. Once inside, they saw the many medicine bowls that lined the hut. Shizuri had just put water on to boil when everyone was seated inside.
"My name is Shizuri, I am the village healer. As I'm sure you can see." Shizuri bowed, taking a seat on the floor, and watching the boiling water.
"I am Miroku, and this is Sango, Kirara, Shippo and Inuyasha." He indicated to each one.
Nodding her head, she gave each a warming smile, though it wasn't as warm as it could have been. She was still mad about what Norito had done, but she could do nothing about it now. When they had taken Kaoru away, she meant to go after her but they had restrained her from doing so, and with that he bitter angry grew to the point she struck Norito. "Now how can I be of Service?"
"We were wondering if you could offer us somewhere to stay. It would only be for the night, and we'd be gone by morning" Miroku answered, with a smile.
"You may stay here for the night if you so wish. There's plenty of room as you can see for you all." Shizuri offered, seeing Miroku smile even wider.
"You are too kind, Lady Shizuri. I give you are thanks." Miroku furrowed his brow in thought, as a question so temptingly came to mind. Though he was reluctant to ask; in fear of being noisy.
Seeing as the woman was still seething over it, he decided to ask in the end. "Lady Shizuri. If you do not mind my asking, what had gotten you so angry moments ago?"
Shizuri lifted her head from preparing tea and she clenched her jaw at the memory. "About 4 and a half weeks ago, Rei one of the children living here came across a very disturbing site. When she had informed her father, Norito the village head, him and four others went out to discover what she had found. What they found was a woman's body. She was thought dead until Ryou felt faint and shallow breaths emitting from her lips."
Miroku shook his head, "How awful"
"This is not the half of it. After they had rushed her back to me, I did everything I could to revive the poor child, and after many days, signs of life began to return. After many weeks she finally was able to move tiny bits at a time, and was able to keep her eyes open for short period of times. Though her throat was pretty torn, she was still able to talk, but only in whispers." Shizuri recalled when the woman had first awoken; she was terrified of her and could not speak at the time. That was the first day they had found her. "She was healing faster than any human I have ever worked with, but I assumed it was her holly powers."
"Holly powers?" Sango questioned, speaking for the first time.
"Yes, it seems she was a priestess, she went by the name of Kaoru. When we first found out about her powers she had saved us all from a bear youkai that had attacked our village numerous times over. She was fine up until two days ago. She started to have a nightmare, and I took it was from the torture she was put through. But when she had awakened, blood had started to soak her kimono. It seems that whoever had held her captive is able to slip into her dreams. This is when I discovered the mark on her neck. It seems the man was youkai and had taken her unwillingly as his mate." Shizuri shook her head, how truly disgusting the world was.
"When I released this information to Norito, he grew mad, and ordered her gone from here. It seems he believed that she would have brought this village to its demise. I tried many times, I begged him not to send the girl away. But every time he just turned his head away from me. And so in the end he restrained me, and took the woman from my protection, banishing her from this village forever."
Miroku and Sango both looked shocked, and disgusted by this. "He would send a woman into the forest to die, just because she was mated to a youkai? Why would anyone do such a thing" Sango shook her head, hatred already growing for the man.
"I agree, why would someone ever do something like that." Miroku just bowed his head in sympathy for the girl.
"The worst part is; she can barely sustain her body for very long. She isn't close to being even fully recovered." Shizuri sighed, knowing there was nothing she could do now.
Inuyasha had listened to the whole conversation, staying quiet as he felt pity for the woman. No one should have to be thrown from somewhere just because of what vile deeds someone did. The world was too full of corrupt people, human and youkai together. Man was greedy, and only cared for its self, not caring weather they had to walk over people to get what they wanted, or to find safety.
How cruel the world could be. A life lived without someone there to care just wasn't a life worth living. He had thought as much, until he met Kagome. Even with Kikyo, he was treated as if he was a foul creature not worthy for the world. He had fallen in love Kagome, and was going to tell her how he felt once Naraku was defeated, but it seemed that fate had another plan for her.
To be continued......
